Trivia / Doctor Who S28 E13 "Doomsday"

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Nicholas Briggs voices both the Daleks and the Cybermen, leading to a rather memorable scene where the two races get into a pissing match. This also means any conversation between fellow Daleks or Cybermen is Briggs Talking to Himself.
  • Approval of God: According to Russell T Davies, original series producer Verity Lambert enjoyed and praised the episode. About the highest approval a Doctor Who story could get.
  • Completely Different Title: The French title is "Adieu Rose".
  • Edited for Syndication: Re-runs on Britain's Pick channel leaves out the last few seconds with Donna's appearance, resulting in the Downer Ending being played soul-crushingly straight.
  • First Appearance: Of Donna Noble.
  • Lying Creator: Russell T Davies told the press Rose was gone for good. He told Billie Piper "See you in two years".
  • Orphaned Reference: The Cyber Leader telling the Doctor that he's proof that emotions destroy seems off as there wasn't a scene before that. There was a deleted scene where that takes place before that where the Cyber Leader confronts the Doctor asking him what are the Daleks, but the Doctor changes the subjects and tries to trick them that can escape inside the TARDIS.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An action scene where the Doctor and Rose rode into the top of Torchwood Tower in a Jathaa Sun Glider that had been mentioned last episode. It was cut to divert money elsewhere, since it was needed to pay for the beast at the end of The Satan Pit, which otherwise might have been represented as a Creepy Child. Crashing into the top floor of a skyscraper within five years of 9/11 also might have given the wrong image. This was changed to Jake simply taking them up in a lift.
    • Dalek Jast was originally named Rabe, but this was changed because it sounded too much like Ray. It was quite a late change, as the original name still appeared on some merchandise.
  • Word of God: Julie Gardner confirmed that when Rose said "I love you", the Doctor was going to 'say it back'.
  • Working Title: Torchwood Falls.
