Trivia / Doctor Who 2006 CS "The Runaway Bride"

Go To

  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Sarah Parish is on record as having insisted on taking a role as some kind of weird monster when being approached by the Doctor Who production team for this very reason.
  • Completely Different Title: The French title is "Le Mariage de Noël" (The Christmas Wedding).
  • Deleted Role: Bella Emberg filmed a brief reappearance of Mrs. Croot during a scene in which the Doctor and Donna travelled to the wedding reception by bus. This scene was deleted for timing reasons.
  • The Danza: Rhodri, the wedding videographer who caught Donna's disappearance on film, is played by Rhodri Meilir.
  • Deleted Scene:
    • The scene in which Donna finds Rose's top originally showed the Doctor angrily throwing the top out the TARDIS doors and into space. According to producer Julie Gardner, the scene was cut as being too melodramatic.
    • Another scene showed the Doctor, Donna and Lance cramming themselves into a SMART car to get to H.C. Clements. David Tennant's parents, his sister-in-law and his two nieces all appeared as extras in the background, but none of them ended up in the finished episode.
  • First Appearance: Barring a cameo in the previous episode, this is one for Donna Noble, as well as definitively one for Sylvia Noble.
  • Reality Subtext: Catherine Tate and David Tennant became close friends during the filming of this special. This is easily seen on Tennant's face during pretty much every scene he shares with her, and on Tate's during Donna's softer moments.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The climax originally took place at Stonehenge. Russell T Davies wasn’t able to find a reason to shoot at the landmark, so it was scrapped early on.
    • The vicar had four lines in the shooting script, but the part was cut to one line in the transmitted version.
