• Billing Displacement:
  • Despite having third billing, Shirley Anne Field only appears in four scenes, with three of them coming in before the 40-minute mark.
  • Fenella Fielding also receives star billing, despite disappearing from the film after the 40-minute mark.
  • Eric Barker is another one with barely any screen time (only two short scenes) who still gets a star billing.
  • Robert Hutton, Terry Scott, and Norman Vaughan receive star billing with only one scene each.
• Blooper:
  • Despite leaving his suitcase at the prison, Dr. Grimsdyke once more has it when he arrives at Hampden Cross.
  • The fire extinguisher foam on Sir Lancelot disappears once he is in his car.
  • The lines Sir Lancelot draws on Wendover's chest change size between shots.
• Cast the Expert: Godfrey, the TV commentator, is played by real-life TV host Norman Vaughan.

• Creator Backlash: On the DVD Commentary, Shirley Anne Field doesn't hide her disappointment that Élisabeth Ercy was cast as Jeannine rather than a British actress such as herself and that Nicky Henson's haircut doesn't suit the boutique assistant he plays.
• Corpsing: Joan Sims is visibly trying not to smile during the blanket bath scene.
• Creator's Favourite Episode: This was Leslie Phillips' favourite Doctor film as he thought it had the best script of the series and didn't require any mugging.
• The Danza: Caterina - the wife in the French film - is played by Catherine Feller.
• Dawson Casting: Leslie Phillips was 42 at the time he played the 35-year-old Dr. Grimsdyke.
• Deleted Scene: Four minutes of the film were cut from the original British release but were retained when shown in countries such as Sweden.
• DVD Commentary: With British comedy historian Robert Ross talking to Leslie Phillips (Dr. Gaston Grimsdyke) and Shirley Anne Field (Nurse Bancroft).
• Fake Nationality: Caterina and her husband from the French film are played by two Brits - Catherine Feller and Harold Kasket.
• Romance on the Set: Leslie Phillips and several other actors in the film tried to get close to Élisabeth Ercy, only for Michael Caine to come in from another set and sweep her off her feet!
• Saved from Development Hell: The film was hoped to have been produced in 1961 but took until 1964 for production to begin.
• Uncredited Role:

• What Could Have Been:
  • Talbot Rothwell had originally been commissioned by Betty Box to write the film. While Rothwell's script was turned down, he reused some plot elements (notably a medical mission and a slimming potion) three years later when he wrote Carry On Again Doctor.
  • Fenella Fielding and Shirley Anne Field both wished they could've played the other's role.
• Word of Saint Paul: Shirley Anne Field confirms on the DVD Commentary that Sydney was, in fact, gay, and not just camp.
• You Look Familiar:
  • Leslie Phillips plays a different character to the one he had played in Doctor in Love.
  • Dandy Nichols plays a different character to the one she had played in Doctor at Large.
  • Bill Kerr plays a different character to the one he had played in Doctor in Distress (1963).
  • Fenella Fielding and Noel Purcell return for their third unique roles in the series.
  • Joan Sims and Ronnie Stevens return for their fourth unique roles in the series.
