Jack Smethurst, born John Smethurst, (9 April 1932 — 17 February 2022), was a British actor best known for playing Eddie Booth in Love Thy Neighbour.

He made his film debut in 1958's Carry On, Sergeant, which was followed by more minor roles in films throughout The '60s. In 1970, he was cast as Leslie Pollitt in For the Love of Ada, which he played in both the series and The Movie.

In 1972, he was cast as the loudmouthed racialist Eddie Booth in Love Thy Neighbour. He played the role throughout all eight series, the 1973 film and the 1979 Australian Spin-Off, Love Thy Neighbour in Australia.

He worked on stage in the late '80s and early '90s, appearing in Run for Your Wife and And Then There Were None.

He died of natural causes at the age of 89. One of his children, Adam Smethurst, is also an actor.
