Trivia / Devil May Cry: The Animated Series

Go To

  • Acting for Two: From the Japanese dub, Koji Watanabe voices the Warden in Episode 7, and the fire-breathing Demon in Episode 8.
  • Banned in China: In 2015, China banned this show as well as several other anime due to its violence and sexiness.
  • Colbert Bump: The anime got a renewed interest in 2018 onwards when some characters who originated from it (Morrison and Patty) had Continuity Cameos in Devil May Cry 5. It was also around that time when Adi Shankar was announced to be producing a Netflix-based animated adaptation; search topics about "Devil May Cry Anime" pointed to this decade-old anime as well alongside the upcoming one. This also helped series newcomers realize that there was a DMC anime in the past.
  • Hey, It's That Sound!: The sounds for Ebony and Ivory firing are lifted straight from the games.
  • No Export for You: The Audio Drama CDs Vol.1 (released in 2007) and Vol.2 (released in 2008), both of which were voiced by the Japanese cast and provided additional story to the anime's backdrop of events, weren't released outside of Japan. In Vol.1, Morrison explains to Lady and Patty a reason why Dante's in debt, namely that Dante feels responsible for causing his prior agent, Enzo, to lose an arm to a Devil Arm sometime after DMC1 but before the anime. Vol.1 also details why "Devil Never Cry" at the end of 1 was reverted back to "Devil May Cry" in the anime: Trish had asked Dante to make the change as she wanted to travel the world solo, and "Devil Never Cry" meant that they owned the shop together.
  • The Other Darrin: Melissa Davis replaces Kari Wahlgren as Lady in the English dub, while Luci Christian replaces Sara Lafleur as Trish.
