Warning! All spoilers below are unmarked.

It's virtually impossible to list tropes for this game without spoiling everything or creating Self-Fulfilling Spoilers because of the large amount of twists and Murder Mystery-related tropes it contains.

  • Ascended Meme: The "misspelling Danganronpa" meme is referenced to in "Monokuma's Cute Meaty Diary" in the Monokuma Archive on the third floor of Grape House in Chapter 4.
  • Blooper: Peko's tie is missing during the beginning of her execution.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Hajime, Nagito and Izuru in the Japanese dub.
  • Feelies: As well as a soundtrack CD and artbook, the NIS America Limited Edition also includes a Monocoin replica, the "I'm sorry, I was born stupid" sticker from Chapter 3, and Monokuma-themed sunglasses. The Japanese Limited Edition includes a Monocoin replica, a small medal of the Hope's Peak Academy logo, Monokuma and Monomi keychains, and a plush of Monokuma's head.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Chances are, this would be the first time players in the west heard of Twilight Syndrome through the low-quality arcade game Monokuma presented in Chapter 2, which was a real game series owned by Spike Chunsoft which never left Japan.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Peko's execution is based off Sakura's unused execution from the first game.
