Trivia / Baby Huey

Go To

  • Dawson Casting: In the original shorts, Huey, an infant, is voiced by the 40-year-old Sid Raymond with a lisping yet conspicuously deep, adult-sounding voice. Taken up to eleven in the 1994 revival's first season, where Raymond (then 85) returned to voice the duckling again with an even deeper tone. Justified in that even though Huey is a baby or toddler, he basically has the body (and thus, voice) of a large adult.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: For Season one only; Sid Raymond, Billy West and Will Ryan (Huey, Fox and "additional voices", respectively) recorded their audio in Los Angeles, with the rest of the cast being recorded out of Vancouver using regular actors from The Ocean Group along with Bob Jaques himself. Season two drops this and records entirely in L.A.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Baby Huey Show has never been released to any home media, save for the episode "Daycare Ducky" as a bonus feature on the Direct to Video live-action film Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure. The Famous Studios shorts are only available on DVD as a part of The Harveytoons Show.
  • Role Reprise: Sid Raymond (then 85 years old) returned to voice Huey in the first season of the 1994 revival, 35 years after his final theatrical appearance, although this was only at the insistence of supervising director Bob Jaques, as the show's management did not like Raymond. Also of note is that, due to Raymond's age, the pitch of his voice had to be raised 12% in post-production in order to roughly match how he sounded in the old shorts. Possibly due to Jaques' departure, Raymond was replaced by Joe Alaskey for the second season.
