Tear Jerker / Gift From the Princess Who Brought Sleep

• Yukina mentioning in the journal that Hanne reads to Julia that seeing the portrait of Mikulia (who looks exactly like Michaela) shook her and Kyle up pretty badly—and that in his case he still hasn't gotten over her death even by then.
• The death of the people in the orphanage. Seeing Rita hysterically cry for help as one by one the children under her care fall dead, before she herself succumbs to the poison is pretty heartbreaking. Even as their bodies grow cold she continues to beg them to wake up.
• Shaw's death of old age before that, and more particularly Hanne's reaction to it. She stands by his coffin and puts a hand on his cheek, noting how he was another person she knew who died. Then she starts thinking about all the people whom she had to watch die over her life and, for the first time in likely decades, she starts crying.

  • And then, regarding Heidemarie's reaction, the fact that, even though she is also greatly saddened by it, she cannot cry... That's quite heartbreaking.

• When we as an audience learn that Mikulia died in Asmodean, and wasn't the one responsible for the events of "Flower of the Plateau". She really was an innocent, albeit slow-witted young woman, who never got her happy ending after all.
• Despite also being really nightmarish, one can really feel sorry for Eve. Driven crazy due to her prolonged existence as the Demon of Sloth, desperately seeking and fixating on the people who resemble her beloved husband, and not really being aware of it all, because her sense of self is buried deep in her psyche until each of her assumed identities die. The extent of her Broken Bird tendencies can really make you tear up.
• The fact that Elluka tried to talk Margarita out of killing herself, and afterward tries to save her after she drinks the gift. Anyone who has seen the original song will know that she fails.
• As she dies from the poison, Margarita/Eve begins to regain her memories. The last thing she says is that she's going to the forest to be with Adam.
• Gumillia describes the Clockworker's Doll thusly:
  Gumillia: Yeah, the doll with pigtails that looked exactly like Michaela——-I mean, the Original Sinner.
