• In "Magnifying Glass", Jack makes a reference to the Terminator series when Bozer was testing an AI robot.
• In "Compass", Jack mispronounces the Mobius Strip for the Morpheus Strip. Mac tells him that he's making a Matrix reference.
  • At the same time, Jack makes a CSI reference when he says something about CSI mumbo jumbo.
• In "D.I.Y. or Die", Jack says that the team has a Howling Mad Murdoc problem.
• In "Skull + Electromagnet", Jack wants Mac to get a Proton Pack after he makes a heat detector.
  • Also in the same episode, Jack gets freaked out about the prospect of traveling to the Bermuda Triangle on a rescue mission:
    Jack: I'm telling you right now, if that plane went down in the Devil's Triangle, they're as good as gone. Man, they're in the Upside Down.

  • In the prologue, Jack was shocked that Mac was able to make a makeshift lightsaber. Mac retorts him and tells him that not everything is about Star Wars.
  • During the chase in Nigeria, Jack calls Mac "Fonzie".
• In "Bear Trap + Mob Boss", Jack tells Mac, "You're practically Professor X as it is." Lucas Till had portrayed Havok in the X-Men Film Series; like Mac, Charles Xavier uses his smarts to solve problems, plus he was a Pretty Boy when he was younger.
• "Skyscraper + Power" has Mac and Jack inside a large tower, giving Jack the chance to finally live out all his Die Hard fantasies.
  • Jack calls Ethan, the kid held hostage, as the Lone Wolf Cub.
• "Improvise" has Maddie call Riley, Bozer and Leanna the Teen Titans.
• In "Murdoc + MacGyver + Murdoc", Jack wonders if Mac has entered The Twilight Zone since he went with Murdoc without resistance.
• In "Mac + Fallout + Jack", the cell Mac and Jack reminds the latter of the Saw movie series.
