Shout Out / Hellsing Ultimate Abridged

Go To

It's Team Four Star, so it's a given:

  • In the very first scene, Alucard and Police Girl kill Edward and Bella.
  • The title of the first episode is from the Nostalgia Critic's review of Captain America (1990).
  • Several sound effects were taken from Team Fortress 2, such as Seras' rifle sounding like the Sniper Rifle, or various laughs and grunts from the classes being used as background sound effects.
  • Actually deconstructed when Alucard points out that Anderson apparently stole all his speeches from The Boondock Saints.
    • One of the only lines he didn't take from the movie was "It's a shame for ya lost yer head. A careless Vampire who wound up dead, ya wore yer sin like it was some kinda prize. Too many lies...Too many lies." That line is a slightly modified set of the opening lyrics to WWE wrestler Sheamus' original theme song. The instrumental version of said theme song even plays during their encounter in the museum & then they had a orchestral version during his Big Damn Heroes moment at the end of episode 5
  • "And I'm Carmen Sandiego! Guess where I am."
  • "You were talking all that good shit a second ago! Then I blew your fucking legs off!"
    • Speaking of The Boondocks, apparently bitches love cannons just as much as they do smiley faces.
  • "WE'RE HERE ON EPIC MEAL TIME! I'M THE SAUCEBOSS, AND TONIGHT, WE'RE EATING THIS BLONDE LITTLE WANNABE DEMIGOD BITCH!"
    • During the livestream of episode 8, Takahata101 confessed that this particular joke makes him cringe now because of how dated the reference is.
  • Smarks who visit the /wooo/ section of 420chan will immediately recognize Seras' cry of "ARMBARS EVERYWHERE!" when she restrains Jan Valentine.
  • "You know what? Fuck it. Knife!"
    • And in the first episode:
Alucard:Hey, police girl. Hey, police girl.
  • Alucard is a fan of Adventure Time and watches it when Integra bribes him with a plasma TV.
  • DECAPITATIOOOOOON!
  • After realizing what a bored Alucard would do if Hellsing's funding is cut off, one of the Round Table says "Shut up and take our money!"
  • In Episode 3, Alucard was making "whoop whoop whoop" noises while walking up a wall of a building.
  • To the Dragon Ball Z Abridged 'kaio-what' running gag, in Alucard's own powerup sequence:
    Alucard: Release restraint level one.
Luke: Level what? (leg gets shot off)
  • And when Jan's self-destruct chip went off, he screamed "And now I'm on fucking fire!" nearly mirroring the last Kanassan's dying moment "I'M ON FIRE."
  • To Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series: "Give me a hug!"
    • He then proceeds to violently murder him, like Melvin would.
  • After Walter introduces himself, Jan refers to him as Alfred. In the same line, he also calls him Jeeves.
  • You can hear the Squiddles theme song in the background during Anderson and Alucard's almost-fight in the art gallery. They also use some music from The Big O in that episode too...
  • In Episode 3 we get "you activated my trap card/Alucard."
  • Rip Van Winkle seems to exist to give Internet shoutouts.
  • Alucard arrives via plane with "Shoot To Thrill" blaring, much like Iron Man.
  • In episode 6, Zorin says Jackle's "Peekaboo! I kill you!" line from Archie Comics' infamous NiGHTS into Dreams… series.
  • When Father Maxwell receives the aid of several holy warrior orders, one of them reports he has brought the Mexican Inquisition, triggering the following exchange:
Maxwell: I did not expect you.
    Diego: No one ever does!
  • The Mexican one is named Don Diego de la Vega.
  • A group of OTT fanservice teenagers wouldn't have had their adventure in Japan if Alucard had done his job.
Alucard (on the phone to Integra) I'm ninety-nine... point nine percent done here... (cut to a zombie bashing itself against a gate)
  • The sound effects are quite diverse as well; in addition to the infamous Wilhelm Scream, a lot of the 'group laughter' and 'people screaming' FX are taken from Team Fortress 2's voice clips.
  • Most of the Wild Geese are named after the actors who voiced them in the OVA's English dub.
  • One of the Nazis asks another Nazi if they're the bad guys. In other words: "Hans...are we the baddies?"
  • When Satan shows up, an instrumental version of the opening theme of Cuphead plays.
  • In episode 8, When Anderson reveals he has Helena's nail, Heinkel mentions that it was in the "Don't Fuck With This" Armory, where they also keep the Ark of the Covenant, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the actual body of Christ.
    • The fact that Christ's body is in the "Don't Fuck With This" Armory may imply it's the version from Steel Ball Run.
  • Also from episode 8, Heinkel orders Yumie to "do the thing", similar to how Varrick usually orders Zhu Li in The Legend of Korra.
  • A little known one: the 3rd and 4th verses of "Alexander Anderson (Hamilton Parody)", the ending theme of Episode 8, talking about Anderson's past with the mob and killing his first vampire, is a reference to Angel Dust, a hentai manga from Hellsing's author.
    • This was actually done even earlier at the very end of episode 5. After Anderson saves Integra from the Nazis, one of the nicknames they cite for him is 'The Angel's Dust.'
  • Seras refers to the Captain as a Nazi Werewolf in London.
  • From Alucard's battle with Walter:
Alucard: [cocks gun] No, mama! He was MY dog! I'll do it! [shoots the Hound of Baskerville]
  • When Alucard strikes a pose during his battle with Walter, he proudly declares that, "Yes! This is a Jojo reference!"
  • Integra threatens to shove Seras in a box and ship her to Abu Dhabi. Seras even complains about Integra getting pissy on Mondays.
  • The United States being governed by Walt Disney-Pepsi-Comcast might be a reference to BoJack Horseman where they use Time Warner-Toyota-Pepsico-Trader Joe's as their in-universe MegaCorp.
