Other characters in the series, be it from the games proper (mainline and spin-off) or from other media. This list is comprised of NPCs, playable characters not classified as CPUs or Makers, and playable characters crossing over from their home series.

Oracles

Advisors for the CPUs.

    General Tropes
  • Promoted to Playable: They're NPCs in the original games, but become playable in the Re;Birth games.
  • Put on a Bus: After mk2, all of them except Histoire are removed from the story; Kei opened a business, Mina left to study Oracle activity in other nations after realizing that she was mostly just a babysitter, and Chika is handling a worker's strike.

    Histoire

Histoire

Hyper Dimension

Super Dimension Histoire

Ultra Dimension Histoire

Voiced by: Mika Kanai (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)

A small, fairy-like woman who is a living archive for Gameindustri's history, and a recurring authority for the CPUs across the different settings.

General Tropes:

  • Berserk Button:
    • Hyper Dimension Histy can turn into quite the nag over Neptune's laziness.
    • Ultra Dimension/Mini-Histy doesn't take comments about her low processing power very lightly.
  • Big Good: Super Dimension Histoire leads the CPUs against Arfoire and helped create them in the first place. Hyper Dimension Histoire is technically only Neptune's advisor, but the other CPUs start taking orders from her after their own Oracles get Put on a Bus.
  • Emoticon: She'll often use emoticons and emojis when talking, and although she drops this in later games, her Ultra Dimension counterpart (running an earlier version) frequently engages in this. VII also shows that Hyper Dimension Histoire is prone to falling back into this if she's dazed. And in ReBirth1, she notes with some pride that she's the first character in the series to use them.
  • Exposition Fairy: In addition to her vast knowledge of Gamindustri, she's often used for the player to understand new mechanics. It helps that she looks like a fairy.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: She sits on one that floats. Unfortunately it'll take three of whatever unit of time measurement she's using at the moment for her to find any information needed in her, so it's better to just go out and figure things out without her.
  • In-Series Nickname: Histy, or Mini-Histy for her Ultra Dimension counterpart, courtesy of Neptune.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: She can only appear through telepathic messages in the first game until the end, and the opening obscures your view of her as much as humanly possible, but every other game in the series has her show up almost right away, being completely unobscured in every other opening, and referencing all of her jokes from the first game immediately.
  • Meaningful Name: "Histoire" relates to her original purpose, that of recording the history of all that is, was and will be.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: She's an artificial being who was created by one of Neptune's predecessors and functions similarly to a computer (she may talk with emoticons, and there's plenty of gags about her specs). She's also a book.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She's the size of a large tome. But as a playable character, said large tome allows her to unleash a magical hell on the enemy's sorry hide. Her EXE Finisher is also one of the strongest in the game.
  • Really 700 Years Old: In the Super Dimension, she predates all four CPUs who she helped create. Hyper Dimension Histoire was created by the very first Planeptune CPU.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: She was created by Arfoire in the original game, and a Planeptune CPU in the other settings. Her measurements are given in electronic terms, she overheats if she exerts herself, and while she can use regular medicines for some conditions, for the particularly bad cases she tends to need some form of patch or update in the form of special devices like the Sanshiro's Soulful Patch (which she uses by getting the cartridge shoved into her mouth).
Nepgear: "She's not a human or a goddess, but I hear she's a manmade super being."
  • Rule of Three: Three hours, three days, three months, whatever unit of time she measures in, she always takes three of it to get anything done.
  • Throw the Book at Them: She uses books as weapons.
  • Vocal Evolution: While sealed in the original game, she has a mature tone that is used by her Hyper Dimension counterpart. When unsealed, she has a high-pitched voice that is used by her Ultra Dimension counterpart. The anime uses the latter voice, despite portraying Hyper Dimension Histoire.

Super Dimension Histoire (first game/Re;Birth1/reVerse)

  • Expecting Someone Taller: Neptune had this reaction on their first meeting. Understandable since her Spirit Advisor voice sounds like a mature woman, but when she is finally released she looks and sounds like the Token Mini-Moe.
  • Only Sane Man: Plays this role when guiding the four CPUs. It's most noticeable in the event before opening the Road to Celestia.
  • Spirit Advisor: Histoire fulfills the former role to Neptune and her group.
  • Wham Line: Near the end of the game, which casts the figure in question in a whole new light.
Noire: "Come to think of it, I feel like we did have a mother who raised us."
    Histoire: "Oh, you mean Arfoire?"

Hyper Dimension Histoire (mk2/Re;Birth2, VII/VIIR, Sisters)

  • Dream Sequence: Has several over the course of VII recalling her time spent with the original Uzume when she was Planeptune's CPU.
  • Foreshadowing: During one of her VII Dream Sequences, she has a conversation with a previous CPU of Planeptune noting the similarities between their respective headgears, which Histoire admits was intentional on her part. Now compare Orange Heart's headgear to Histoire's own...
  • Heroic RRoD: Briefly shuts down due to opening the dimensional portal that was meant to bring Nepgear and Neptune back from the Zero Dimension, stating it was beyond her specifications. In order to bring her out of it, she needs a Sanshiro's Soulful Patch, which revives with sheer willpower.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: She's often treated as a higher authority than Neptune, who'd rather shirk her CPU duties to nap, eat, and play. In the Hyper Dimension G arc, Planeptune remains the most intact after Gold Third is put in charge of Gamindustri, mostly because the nation still has Histoire to cover for B-Sha sharing Neptune's work ethic (or lack thereof).
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Kurome erased all memory of Uzume's existence after her sealing, though Histoire still has vague memories of interacting with someone she can't put a face on.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: She's one of the few people unaffected by the Cosmic Retcon replacing the CPUs with Gold Third, which she attributes to her artificial nature.
  • Signature Headgear: A staple, but one that becomes a minor plot point. In a Dream Sequence, she mentions she intentionally designed it to be similar to that of a previous Planeptune CPU. It's not a coincidence that it resembles the one on Uzume's Orange Heart form.
  • You Remind Me of X: When she hears Uzume speak for the first time, she mentions that she reminds her of an old acquaintance. She's unknowingly speaking to said acquaintance, a previous Planeptune CPU, though we find out later that it's not actually her, but someone who was split off from her.

Ultra Dimension Histoire (Victory/Re;Birth3)

  • Acrophobic Bird: Mini Histy is able to fly. She's scared of heights.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Iris Heart's method of torturing her is to simply take her bookmark away so she loses her place in a book she's reading.
  • Head Pet: Neptune has a Histy doll that she can wear on her head. Copypaste uses the real Mini Histy like this as well, which is when her fear of heights is revealed.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears them in one section. And it really does look adorable.
  • Precision F-Strike: Mini-Histy comes close, very close, to calling Neptune a "bitch" before actually censoring herself. This is because Nep-Nep insulted her greatest insecurity, her low processing power.
  • Snap Back: She shares her habit of talking with emotes with her Super Dimension counterpart.
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: Mini-Histy, though it only comes up once, to yell at Neptune and Plutia about complaining about dungeons dividing the countries.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Played with. Ultra Dimension Histoire is the same as she was in the previous games in terms of intelligence, even though she's a lot younger.

    Kei Jinguji

Kei Jinguji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jinguji_kei.png

Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei (Japanese), Julie Ann Taylor (English)

A shrewd businesswoman with a bit of a reputation for making deals that border on the Faustian, and will not take kind to those who do not fulfill their end of the bargain. She is Lastation's Oracle.

  • Bifauxnen: She looks very much like a boy and behaves like one, too.
  • Boyish Short Hair: It really adds to her boyish look.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Very snarky and actual rivals IF in this department, much to her annoyance.
  • Hidden Buxom: According to the artbook, she's a B-cup who binds her breasts.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Everyone thought she was the first male to ever be introduced in the series but surprisingly, she's all woman.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite looking like a child, she is said to be older than her appearance. Her actual age has not yet been disclosed.
  • Royal Rapier: Not royalty, but shares this fighting style with Noire in Re;Birth2.
  • The Stoic: She's so composed that she's the only Oracle in the Conquest Ending who accepts Nepgear killing her nation's CPUs given the circumstances, though she does admit to feeling discomfort while talking with her after Noire and Uni's deaths.
  • Tomboyish Voice: Her deep voice make her sound more boyish than the other female characters.
  • Workaholic: Is similarly obsessed with work and business like Noire. Although Kei is more obsessed with business, while Noire is more obsessed with work.

    Mina Nishizawa

Mina Nishizawa

Voiced by: Sayaka Nakaya (Japanese), Dorothy Elias-Fahn (English)

Lowee's Oracle and Ram and Rom's magic teacher (and the butt of many of their pranks).

    Chika Hakozaki

Chika Hakozaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chika_hakozaki.png

Voiced by: Yuka Komatsu (Japanese), Michelle Ann Dunphy (English)

Leanbox's Oracle and a Fangirl and sister figure to Vert (who does not have an actual sister, since Microsoft didn't have any portable platforms).

  • Big "NO!": In the Conquest Ending, she cries and screams "NO!" after Nepgear kills Vert.
  • Drama Queen: Chika tends to go off for the stupidest reasons, especially when she doesn't get her way with Vert.
  • Homoerotic Subtext: She seems to be very obsessive with Vert; they share a bed, Vert knows her well enough that she can tell perfectly when she is or isn't pretending to be sick, and apparently Chika is usually more willing to play around during Vert's massages. Chika can also be seen grabbing Vert's chest while looking extremely happy doing so in the True Ending. Were it not for her occasional denials, this wouldn't even be able to be considered subtext.
  • Large Ham: Is prone to vocalizing her, to put it subtly, "admiration" for her "sister" Vert, and is overall a Drama Queen who is prone to Comical Overreacting.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Whether she admits it or not, there is no mistake that if she does have feelings for Vert she falls directly into this category.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Surprisingly, she's a lot more mature than she lets on, but only when it comes to her work. She did come up with a way to get her people to stop following ASIC all by herself, despite screwing it up.
  • Stripperific: Downplayed; while her dress isn't as revealing as the other characters, it still manages to show a significant amount of skin.
  • Too Dumb to Live: She books a homosexual boy band to perform in front of a crowd that nearly consists of only straight males. Naturally, this does not go out well.
  • Wingding Eyes: Gets hearts in her eyes whenever Vert is involved.

Introduced in Super Dimension

    The Four Legendary Heroes

The Four Legendary Heroes

The four legendary heroes of the Super Dimension. Hailing from their Goddesses landmasses, they ascended to Celestia to defeat the goddess who have fallen to the path of evil. While they all gone their separate ways, they are still remembered for being the original saviors of Gamindustri.
  • Meaningful Name: Each of the heroes are named after well-respected figures in the gaming industry:
    • Yuzusuki, Planeptune's hero, is named after Yu Suzuki, a Japanese game designer and produced at Sega Enterprises.
    • Kuterogi, Lastation's hero, is named after Ken Kutaragi, a former Chairman at Sony's game division, Creator/Sony interactive entertainment.
    • Miamoto, Lowee's hero, is named after Shigeru Miyamoto, a Japanese game designer and produce at Nintendo and the creator of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.
    • Gheytz, Leanbox's hero, is named after Bill Gates, an American business man, computer engineer, and the founder of Microsoft.

    Jade

Jade

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Jade_5224.png

Voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Sam Riegel (English)

A Guild Member who resides in Leanbox and the adoptive son of Turquoise.

  • Adapted Out: Is omitted in the remake alongside Chevre and Turquiose.
  • Death as Comedy: His fate at the hands of Neptune, after he admits the reason why he doesn't follow Green Heart.
Jade: I'm a member of the Guild. I live on Leanbox, but I don't follow Lady Green Heart...
Neptune: ...Why're you telling me now? What's up with this?
    *grack*
IF: ...And that's that. You finished him off.
Neptune: Oops. Well, that was for ruining the moment.
  • Great Escape: Breaks IF, Compa, and Neptune out of the prison they're in.
  • The Faceless: Standard as an NPC, his face - and entire body for that matter - is obscured through a black silhouette.

    Turquoise

Turquoise

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008272.png

An aristocrat residing in a mansion in Leanbox and the adoptive farther of Jade.

  • Adapted Out: Is omitted in the remake alongside Jade and Chevre.

    Chevre

Chevre

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008273.png

A shop owner at Lastation.

  • Adapted Out: Is omitted in the remake alongside Turquiose and Jade.

    Zach Unfair

Zach Unfair

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008274.png

An aspiring game developer working at Lastation

    Chian

Chian

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chian_1.png

Voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)

A Lastation blacksmith competing against the corporation Avenir.

  • The Blacksmith: Her storyline quests in the Lastation chapter involve you testing her "Armas" swords. She takes the test swords back though.
  • Punny Name: Chian looks a lot like Cyan and sounds the same. Now look at her hair colour.

    Ganache

Ganache

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ganache.png

Voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Liam O'Brien (English, first game), Sam Riegel (English, Re;Birth1)

Founder of Avenir and the primary face of the corporation.

  • Broken Pedestal: Played a bit more seriously than IF's, but still for laughs. He doesn't take the fact that Lady White Heart he reveres is actually quite foul-mouthed, to the level of severe denial when presented with the fact (and with Blanc actually being there).
  • Composite Character: His Re;Birth1 incarnation is a combination of himself and Jade from the original game. Like the original Ganache, he's a corrupt businessman who is the main antagonist of the gang's adventures in Lastation and often stays one step ahead of them. However, he worships Lady White Heart instead of the goddess of his land, much like Jade.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: He's evil, works for Arfoire, and uses ruthless methods to keep Avenir in business.
  • The Chessmaster:
    • In the original game during the Lastation arc, Ganache himself states he's manipulated everything from the start up the the current point, from the moment he heard of the Console War.
    • In Re;Birth1, he knows you were aiding his rival Chian and spying on Avenir by taking their quests. On one of those quests, he traps you in a heavily monster-infested facility to presumably kill you all off, though in the end, the party escapes successfully. The party suddenly realizes that he was stalling you all along as he launched an assault on Chian.
    • IF's contact informs your part that Lowee's Basilicom is getting weapons from Avenir, and thus you locate the Killachine Factory in Avenir No.2 Storage Facility. Inside, you find out that Ganache has a Killachine waiting for you, leading to a battle. After defeating it, Ganache shows you that it's just the first of many. Thankfully, MAGES. destroys the rest of the line and you only need to fight one last battle before leaving the factory. Turns out that was just a decoy. He fed the info to IF's contact as a distraction and while you were busy fighting his Killachines, Arfoire launched an assault against your allies at Blanc's rebel base.
  • The Dragon: For much of the game, he works directly under Arfoire.
  • Enemy Mine: When his back is seriously to the wall. He helps the heroines stop the CPU Breaker when it goes berserk, but only because it would probably kill him too if he didn't.
  • Genre Savvy: When Arfoire shows up to make a deal in the first game, he knows not to trust her automatically.
  • Hostage Situation: In the first game, he conjures up something of the like for the Tech Expo, to make sure Neptune and her party go there quickly.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In the ending, after Avenir is taken over by Noire. He also proves to be a VERY capable assistant.
  • Ignored Expert: Both Arfoire and Singe ignore his warning of using the untested CPU Breaker. In the end, he's right.
  • In-Series Nickname: Solicitor (IF) or "Mr." Solicitor (Compa).
  • Jerkass: He assigns the task of finding a rare ore to the party, and confines them in an abandoned building set to explode. Afterwards it turns out that was only a diversion, as stated by IF when Chian's factory is being sieged by Avenir robots.
  • Loving a Shadow: He refuses to believe that his beloved White Heart is really a potty mouth and follows the impostor instead. He comes to terms with this in the ending and follows Noire instead.
  • Shoot the Hostage: In the first game, he outright says something regrettable will happen to the Expo attendees if Neptune and her party don't go there quickly.

    Singe

Singe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/singe.png

Voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Jamieson Price (English)

One of the chairmen for Avenir.

  • The Blacksmith: He's a very skilled craftsman to the point of being able to forge Noire's legendary sword from the remains of a revolver.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After he got booted off Avenir, he became a craftsman for Chian. He's apparently one of the best out there, having enough skill to craft a new sword from the remains of a revolver. The same legendary revolver used by ancient heroes to destroy the corrupted goddess.

    Yvoire

Yvoire

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yvoire.png

Voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Patrick Seitz (English)

Vert's chamberlain, reduced to doing all the work while she plays games.

  • Accidental Misnaming: A victim of this at the hands of Neptune and Compa, successively: They mishear his name as Eviler and then Evilest, similar to how people at Lastation's Basilicom and Compa herself couldn't pin down Neptune's name and Noire's name took some time for Neptune to say correctly.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While he retains his basic role from the original game where he is also manipulated by Conversation, in Re;Birth 1 he's not as villainous as in the original game and is even more of a victim of Conversation's evil schemes. In the original, he was motivated to increase Leanbox's power, even if he had to kill Neptune to weaken Planeptune. In Re;Birth1, he's tricked by Conversation into believing that Neptune is a Messenger of Overlord Momus after seeing a false proof.
  • Cassandra Truth: He doesn't first want to believe that the Power Trio are Messengers of Overlord Momus. Conversation has to make a fake proof to convince him.
  • Corrupt Church: In the original game, he is the leader of the church and has tried to get IF to poison Neptune, went ahead and did it himself, and then arrested all three girls as "criminals". Jade later goes into more detail about Yvoire, going on about how he destroyed any documents pertaining to the purge of the Guild, refusing to acknowledge the atrocities committed.
  • Noodle Incident: The way Vert "asked" him to apologize after all the trouble he caused.
  • Punny Name: Yvoire looks a lot like Ivory. And again, look at his hair colour.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He poisons and imprisons Neptune for spreading Momus worship and Enemy Discs, not knowing that Arfoire/Conversation was behind it.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Is very willing to do questionable things for Lady Green Heart, without her knowledge. Including making IF a citizen if she poisons Neptune (he when he thought that they're Momus evangelists), and threatening to get rid of them as "suspicious" persons if IF doesn't agree. He poisons Neptune himself.

    Ran-Ran

Ran-Ran

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranran_6.png

A pig (wo?)man who Vert uses for spying and basic assistance.

  • Ascended Extra: Originally just a name mentioned in some quests, Ran-Ran has become Vert's personal assistant and pet.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When Vert, Purple Heart and the others are in trouble against Arfoire, Ran-Ran snatches Vert's goddess power from the villain when Arfoire is about to steal Purple Heart's power.
  • Canon Foreigner: She's exclusive to Re;Birth1, despite not having a narrative counterpart in the original game.
  • Gonk: While presumably mostly human, her portrait has a pig mask over her face.
  • Japanese Ranguage: It's spelled Ran-Ran, but it's pronounced "Rlan Rlan" or "Lan-Lan," even in the English game.
  • Little Miss Snarker: In one blink-and-you-miss-it moment, when stalling Conversation/Arfoire so the party can catch up to her, Ran Ran calls her an old lady, this gem takes place:
Conversation: Who are you calling an old lady!?
    Ran-Ran: (´・ω・`)o(MIRROR)
  • Spanner in the Works: Arfoire certainly didn't expect her snatching back Vert's HDD powers. Were it not for that, the party would have definitely been finished off.
  • Third-Person Person: Refers to herself by her name.
  • Undying Loyalty: Towards Vert, who adopted her when she arrived to Leanbox. She's been very devoted to Vert ever since.

    Financier

Financier

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/financier1.png

Voiced by: Teramoto Haruko (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)
Blanc's right hand woman who helps out the party in Lowee.
  • Batman Gambit: Purposefully pushes Blanc's Berserk Button (bringing up her novels without permission and mentioning how poor her writing is) to differentiate her from the imposter.
  • Meido: She is a cute maid.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Her Hyper Dimension portrayal manages to talk C-Sha out of her misanthropy and into helping Blanc protect Lowee from monsters by convincing her that its citizens will give her a chance if she explains her circumstances.

    The Brothers

Older Brother & Younger Brother

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/older_brother.png
Older Brother

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/younger_brother.png
Younger Brother

Older Brother is voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Jamieson Price (English)
Younger Brother is voiced by: Unknown (Japanese), Sam Riegel (English)

A pair of perverted brothers obsessed with big breasts.

  • Ascended Extra: Originally a pair of side characters for Nisa's events, and mentioned in a few quests, the Brothers are now assistants of Blanc's and, later, Vert's.
  • Asshole Victim: Lovable Sex Maniacs they may be, they had coming every single punishment they suffer in the game, and it's hilarious no matter what it is.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Their philosophy, causing them to follow Vert because of her big breasts.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Both of them, although Older Brother is more gentlemanly than the more passionate Younger Brother.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: As punishment for fooling around with the Fake Green Heart, the Brothers are made to assist Vert in clearing her gaming backlog. Or as Vert puts it, they get "saturated in BL". Older Brother breaks quickly, and starts trying to seduce Younger Brother before the scene cuts away.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: The Brothers' exact allegiance is based on the bust size of whoever is in question. This leads to a scene where they end up betraying Blanc to Arfoire, only to promptly betray her once Vert shows up not even a minute later. And then betraying Vert to the Fake Green Heart, and back to Vert after the Cool and Unusual Punishment above.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: The entire basis of their character. They are absolutely loyal to those with the greatest bust size, and thus at a certain point in the story, they move to Leanbox for Vert. While there, they do some.... hilariously questionable things in Vert's empty room. Vert immediately activates HDD and returns to Leanbox to "destroy some unwanted intruders."
Neptune: "Later, we hear screams of agony from the cell that Vert left behind..."
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: For once, the given names aren't the actual names after IF lampshades their ridiculous introduction; they just go by these pseudonyms. Of course, considering how easily the goddesses present themselves by their human names, they're fairly useless fake names.

Introduced in Hyper Dimension

    Vee and Hai Seturn

Vee and Hai Seturn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008379_6.jpg
Hai on the right, Vee on the left
Debut: Hyperdimension Neptunia ~Megami Tsushin~

Two princess Goddesses who rule the land of Seturn. They are strangely identical to Neptune and Nepgear.

  • Canon Foreigner: Both of them were introduced specifically for the manga, as they do not appear in the games proper.
  • Punny Name: Of third-party Sega Saturn produced consoles, specifically JVC's V-Saturn and Hitachi-s Hi-Saturn.

    Setag

Setag

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008290.png
Voiced by: Aya Endo (Japanese), Whitney Rodgers (English)

A business woman working for Leanbox.

  • Canon Foreigner: Introduced for the anime.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of Microsoft Windows, right down to 1995-2012 Windows logo as a hair ornament. Notably, prior to the release of Sisters, she was the only character based on a computing software instead of a video game hardware or company, and the first anthropomorphic character to not be classified as a CPU or a Maker.
  • Punny Name: "Setag" is an anagram of Bill Gates' surname.

    Game Reporters

Game Reporters

Debut: Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 (Dengekiko, as a Gampic), Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory (Famitsu, as a Gampic)
Initially appearing as NPCs before becoming playable characters, Dengekiko and Famitsu are news editors who represent their respective game publishing magazines.

General Tropes

  • Ascended Extra: They didn't really have much of a role in the mainline games, serving as little more than news reporters for their nations. Action Unleashed gives them a much more prominent focus that includes fleshing out their personalities and attributes as well as their dynamics with the CPUs by having them actually interact with the Goddesses. They even get promoted to playable characters where they received their own Super Forms!
  • Friendly Rivalry: Famitsu and Dengekiko are rivals, but are on good terms with each other.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of gaming magazines.
  • Promoted to Playable: Both Dengekiko and Famitsu were originally Gamipics for Lastation and Planeptune respectively and Scouts for the Scout System. Action Unleashed and MegaTagmention make the two of them playable characters who can fight alongside the CPUs and their sisters. They also get a super form.
  • Super Mode: Much like the CPUs, they have their own HDD form they use in battle.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: They both sport ponytails, with Dengekiko's being a long one (which is tied by a ribbon that represents two lighting bolts) and Famitsu's being a short, messy one. Both matching their tomboyish personalities.

Dengekiko (Dengeki Lass in Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dengeki1.png

Voiced by: Ryō Hirohashi (Japanese), Colleen O'Shaughnessey

A truthful and well-meaning blonde girl whose hobby is writing news reports, and often thinks about it. She is one of the main characters of Action Unleashed alongside her fellow partner and rival, Famitsu.

  • Dub Name Change: Was called Dengeki Lass in her Chirper appearances in some of the localized Re;Birth games. Known as Dengekiko from Neptunia U on, though.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Her hair is blonde and she is a well-meaning person.

Famitsu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/famitsu1.png

Voiced by: Yumi Hara (Japanese), Janice Kawaye

Another news reporter who is always extroverted about seeking interesting things from others. She is one of the main characters of Action Unleashed alongside her fellow partner and rival, Dengekiko.

  • Intrepid Reporter: She's a game reporter who constantly seeks out interesting things and people for stories.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Gains fox ears and a tail in her HDD form, as a reference to the actual Famitsu magazine's mascot Necky.

    Nepgya

Nepgya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nepgya_full_body_render___ripped_hires_9.png

"Nice to meet you. I'm Nepgya! I'm a compatible character who was born from Nepgear's funny face components! Please take care of both me and Nepgear."
Voiced by: Yui Horie (Japanese), Christine Marie Cabanos

An artificial human based on Nepgear, specifically her "shocked" expression, who became a real person thanks to the faith of polling readers. She's not exactly someone you should take seriously.

  • Artificial Human: She's one for Nepgear. Notably, she's not a robot or monster, but a being given form thanks to faith (fan voices).
  • Canon Foreigner: She originated from a Yonkoma as a gag about Nepgear's shocked facial expression that slowly rose in prominence. A fan poll voted to make her an actual character separate from Nepgear.
  • Downloadable Content: Becomes playable with DLC for Megadimension Neptunia VII, which uniquely makes her the first character to originate from outside the games before becoming playable.
  • Frozen Face: Downplayed, in that Nepgya's default face almost never changes, but she does have different facial expressions such as removing the sweat drops and moving her mouth. The oval-shaped wide eyes don't change, however.
  • Machine Monotone: While she can put some emotion into her voice, her default is a calm robotic tone to emphasize her artificial nature.
  • Moveset Clone: In VII, fittingly enough, she plays like Nepgear minus HDD, up to possessing all her SP Skills and the ability to equip any of Nepgear's unique weapons, armors, and accessories aside from, ironically, Nepgear's exclusive DLC items.
  • Nice Girl: Similar to Nepgear herself, Nepgya doesn't seem to possess a mean bone in her body. In her bonus lines, her "rejection" line has her saying she can't denigrate someone and that if anyone should be denigrated, it should be her.

  • The Voiceless: In the English dub, like Cheekama, she doesn't have any English dialogue.

    Abaddon

Abaddon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abaddon_4.png

A monster referencing the Aragami of the same name debuting alongside with God Eater.

  • Big Eater: When he gets hungry (often from watching what he considers flirting between girls), he quickly devolves into this. Luckily (at least except for the girls' dignity), he's only usually interested in eating clothes.

    Chuuko

Chuuko

A female mouse who manages alone a secondhand shop in Planeptune. Possesses a considerable knowledge about retro games and can go into deep conversations about them with hardcore gamers like Neptune and Vert. Unlike Warechu the criminal, she conducts legitimate business.

  • Good Counterpart: To Warechu, in terms of business activities. Both are mice selling games, but while Warechu deals in illegal pirated games, Chuko runs a legitimate secondhand game shop.
  • Rescue Romance: After Warechu saves her from Kurome, she develops a crush on him and tries to help reform him into a law-abiding citizen.

A pair of humanoid Dogoos serving S-Sha.

  • Butterface: They both have impressive figures, but Dogoos for faces.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Dogoo Man is the first to get a solid blow on Kurome. Even she's impressed by this.
  • The Fighting Narcissist: They're constantly bragging about their muscular and curvaceous figures, even in the middle of a fight.
  • Good with Numbers: Dogoo Man counts up 999,999 ran-pigs surprisingly quickly.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: They were unaware of Kurome's influence on S-Sha's decisions and believed their plans were all S-Sha's ideas alone. They only start to realize something is wrong when Vert directly asks them about those plans and E-Sha's disagreement with them.
  • Undying Loyalty: To S-Sha and E-Sha, whom they abide to her at every need.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: S-Sha uses Dogoo Man as a seat, but he enjoys feeling her butt on his back.

    Anri

Anri

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anri_neptunia.png

Voiced by: Natsumi Ōshita (Japanese), Jenny Yokobori (English)

A creator from the PC Continent. She is a calm and knowledgeable girl. Refugees who have evacuated to the continent where Nepgear and others are located in the wake of the incident that occurred on the continent. She's an optimistic guardian towards Maho, and she often thinks about her and pays attention to her. She is devoting her efforts to elucidating the Trendi Phenomenon.

  • Expy: Her appearance, as well as her Revenge Before Reason over her parents' deaths, resemble Origami Tobiichi.
  • Meaningful Name: The name "Anri" is derived from the first two letters of Android, the mobile operating system she takes inspiration from; and ringo, the Japanese equivalent to an apple, which she can be seen eating. Apple is also the name of the American tech-giant that Anri also takes inspiration from (namely the iOS).
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of mobile operating systems, specifically the Android and iOS. Her role as Maho's assistant is akin to how Android is used in most non-iPhone smartphones; the emblem on her tie is based on the Apple logo with both sides bitten; and she has a USB cable underneath her undergarment.
  • Mythology Gag: Her eating a green apple is a subtle reference to the Android Eating Apple image, which was used as a visualization of both OS' rivalry during their early years.
  • Powered Armor: She is an F2P, which is revealed to not be a robot enemy but a suit of armor, working with Arfoire for an opportunity for revenge oblivious to the fact that Arfoire is the one to blame not Grey Sister.
  • Promoted to Playable: Alongside Maho and Grey Sister, you can recruit Anri into battle with her weapons or in the Heartfelt Photo Mode in the Nintendo Switch port, something that was not accessible in the original PS4/PS5 port, despite having a 3D model in her boss fight.
  • Revenge Before Reason: She wants revenge against Grey Sister for destroying the tower where her parents worked in while they were still inside, and is willing to aid Arfoire to achieve that goal. When she learns that Maho is actually Grey Sister, she almost kills her closest friend despite her amnesia, but ultimately can't go through with it. The time-travelling Grey Sister later takes the blame.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun: When you fight Anri, she uses a bazooka that is twice the size as her.
  • Shout-Out: In addition to being an expy of Origami, her design takes several cues from Alice and Shina, as Nanameda Kei provided the base design for her.

    Ziri

Ziri (Seely in Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ziri.png

Voiced by: Anzu Haruno note  (Japanese), Anjali Kunapaneni (English)

A robot who serves Grey Sister.

  • Dub Name Change: Her Japanese name is Seely.
  • Genius Loci: The friendly Maho, despite being the older version of the Grey Sister seen in most of the game, distinctly lacks a Ziri helping her. This is because after getting blasted back 12000 years by a temporal paradox she has spent the time continually upgrading herself into the massive underground laboratory seen in the beginning of the game in order to keep her in stasis until it's time to ambush the Arfoire that will later go back in time and to keep Nepgear and the others in stasis afterwards to keep them away from the current timeline's Arfoire when she is revived. She has also spent the last 12000 years calculating the temporal coordinates required to stop the initial activation of the IS Crystal that started this whole mess, and is able to send Nepgear back in time with Aneeta Job's help in the True Ending.
  • Punny Name: The name Ziri is a riff on Siri, a digital assistant made by Apple to promote their products. She serves as Grey Sister's robotic Fairy Companion.
  • Reforged into a Minion: A heroic example. Nepgear and Maho captured one of ASIC's newest robot models and reprogrammed it with the N-Gear. She has been faithfully obeying Grey Sister for several time loops or over 12000 years ever since, depending on the Ziri, attempting to find a way to finally put an end to Arfoire.

    Aneeta Job

Aneeta Job (Yamori Komori in Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aneeta_job.png

Voiced by: Erica Yoshizumi (Japanese), Unknown (English)

A VTuber who comforts Leanbox's citizens as the Trendi Outbreaks keep them locked up in their houses.

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Or Benevolent A.I., depending on the point of view. Technically speaking she's a crapshoot as she's a rogue ASIC AI. It's just that she's decided to be a Vtuber in Leanbox, helping them cope with the Buzzoer Phenomenon, instead of bringing about the end of the world.
  • Dub Name Change: Her Japanese name is Yamori Komori.
  • Meaningful Name: Komori in this case meaning babysitter, as well as being short for Hikikomori. She takes care of the people of Leanbox quite well, but she also goes out of her way to make sure they're all shut-ins for their own safety.
  • Punny Name: Her English name comes from "I need a job".

Introduced in Zero Dimension

    Umio

Umio

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/umio.png

"Uzume, I am relieved to hear your voice. We're roughly 70% complete with evacuation."
Voiced by: Show Hayami (Japanese), Xander Mobus (English)

A odd-looking fish with a comically serious humanoid face contrasted by his suave voice, who seems perfectly capable of breathing air. He is Uzume's closest friend, helping her manage the Zero Dimension's survivors while she takes on the Dark CPUs.

  • Cool Board: His Limit Break has him riding one with Uzume's picture on it. The extended version has him smacking the board towards his enemy.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He doesn't like eating freshwater fish, due to the implications of cannibalism.
  • Downloadable Content: Becomes playable with DLC in VII, which also makes him the first playable male in the Neptunia series.
  • Emergency Food Supply Animal: The credits label him as Uzume's emergency rations. She once considers using his eggs to make pudding before he hastily reminds her that he's male and doesn't have any eggs. C-Sha wonders how he'd taste upon first seeing him. Older Neptune also said that she'd sooner eat him than taste another eggplant, and later insists on grilling him to reinstate herself and her counterpart as the protagonists after feeling that his backstory with Uzume will overshadow them.
  • Eye Beams: His Freezing Beam attack involves him shooting lasers out of his eyeballs.
  • Fantastic Arousal: His dorsal fin can used as a radar, and is quite sensitive to the touch. He lets out several sensual moans while letting Vert stroke it.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: His dorsal fin became a radar sometime after the Zerodimension arc. He claims that fish are constantly evolving.
  • No Infantile Amnesia: He claims that he can remember everything since he hatched from his egg, but nothing about his past life as a human.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: He's a floating fish with a face of a man, who is also Uzume's friend before she met Neptune and Nepgear.
  • Reincarnation: He's actually a youth volunteer for Planeptune's Basilicom.
  • Subordinate Excuse: It's implied in the past back when he was human he was romantically in love with Uzume. Even in the present, one of his bonus clips has him, in response to a question of whether he loves Uzume, say that his feelings for her have long transcended such words.
  • Undying Loyalty: Is heavily devoted to Uzume. This extends to back when he was a human as well.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Neptune and Nepgear notes that he sounds like a sexy gentleman, but they're bewildered when they see a fish with a human face.
  • Was Once a Man: He was once Uzume's loyal supporter who sacrificed himself to save her from assassination by Planeptune Extremists.
  • Zerg Rush: One of his attacks allows him to call all of the monster citizens of Zero Dimension to rush at the enemy.

    Fried Shrimp

Fried Shrimp

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fried_shrimp.png
Voiced by: Riko Sano (Japanese)

Uzume's crustacean-like monster friend, she is one of the remaining residents of the Zero Dimension following its destruction. She comes from a race of Baby Bugs, a group of crustacean-like beasts.

  • Nice Guy: Despite being from a race of creatures who serve as enemies to the playable heroines, Fried Shrimp has no bad-bone in her body and is heavily devoted to assisting her friend Uzume at all times.
  • The Voiceless: Like Raw Meat and Cheekama, she doesn't have any dialogue in the English dub, and thus does not have an official English voice actress.

    Goobs

Goobs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008280.png

The leader of the Dogoo Tribe at the Zero Dimension.

    General Tropes
  • Canon Foreigner: Many of the original, non-collaborated characters were created for the spin-offs they appear in and nothing else, having no narrative counterpart in the main timeline whatsoever. Though this is starting to change as of Sisters, where the characters introduced in that game are connected to the games canon.

Introduced in Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart

    Generals

Generals

Characters who serve as helpful assistances to the CPUs, namely Noire. They are similar to Makers, but represent franchises instead of companies. They were initially subordinates of Ultra Dimension Noire, but broke ties with her when she lost Shares.

General Tropes

  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of video game franchises.

    • Ai Masujima's name comes from the hepburn romanization of Idolmaster (Aidorumasuta)

Estelle

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_estelle.png

Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (Japanese), Janice Kawaye (English)

A Lastation General who is a heroic swordswoman. She has a rivalry with Ein Al.

  • Expy: Of Roto, based on design, made apparent with her armor and her shieldnote .
  • Goofy Print Underwear: The Limited Edition artbook reveals she wears Dogoo-themed panties. They're visible in game as well. A fully upgraded dresser in Noire's room will tell you to check it out when checking her equipment.
Dresser Rank 5: That girl who keeps calling everything "legendary"... Look at her backside when changing equipment. There's a cute little someone hiding under her skirt! Go and see! I'm not kidding!
  • Jerkass Ball: While normally fairly kind, she occasionally acts quite rude to the other girls.
  • The Rival: To Ein Al. This is a reference to the rivalry between Square (who developed the Final Fantasy games) and Enix (who developed the Dragon Quest games) until the two companies merged.

Moru

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_moru.png

Voiced by: Sora Tokui (Japanese), Erica Mendez (English)

A cat-like girl who is not only perpetually energetic but is also knowledgeable. She resides in Lowee.

  • Ambiguously Brown: She's the only dark-skinned character in the game, but is never explicitly stated to be such (given her cat-like features).
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: Her main weapon is a hammer, which she uses for hunting and attacking, though its subverted as she's more cheerful than brutish.
  • Cat Girl: Has cat ears and a tail, but otherwise looks human. Her top even has a paw-shaped cutout.

Ein Al

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_ein_al.png

Voiced by: Saori Onishi (Japanese), Xanthe Huynh (English)

A collected swordswoman from Lastation who has a rivalry with Estelle.

  • Chuunibyou: Beneath her calm exterior lies a very eccentric girl who believes she's in a fantasy role-playing setting.
  • The Rival: To Estelle. This also alludes to Square and Enix's rivalry prior to the merge.
  • The Stoic: For the most part, she's the least emotive of the Generals, which can be seen through her monotonous speaking patterns. She drops this facade when Estelle is involved, however.

Wyn note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_wyn.png

Voiced by: Hitomi Yoshida (Japanese), Christine Marie Cabanos (English)

A young, sporty girl who loves soccer. She resides in Lastation.

  • Extremity Extremist: Even when lifting and tossing various objects around she won't use her arms, instead kicking the object up onto her own head to hold it before punting it away for the toss.

Lee-fi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_lee_fi.png

Voiced by: Yuka Ootsubo (Japanese), Mela Lee (English)

A martial arts fighter who uses her fists first before her brain. She resides in Lastation.

  • Anime Chinese Girl: While she isn't from China, she wears a red qipao and is a trained martial artist, complete with a Verbal Tic.
  • Expy: Of Chun-Li, being an Anime Chinese Girl wearing a similar qipao, hair buns, and giant bracelets, who's skilled in martial arts.
  • Verbal Tic: In the Japanese version, she ends her sentences with "aru".

Lid

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_lid.png

Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (Japanese), Erica Lindbeck (English)

A stealthy assassin who likes to hide in boxes and often says weird things. She resides in Lastation.

Sango

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_sango.png

Voiced by: Sanae Fuku (Japanese), Lauren Landa (English)

A haughty and noble lady who resides in Lastation, Sango drove her city to a state of utter chaos, presiding over a huge civil war between three factions.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Not her, but she causes this to the Green faction (including Vert) upon Noire's infiltration into her throne room, and is implied to be at least part of the cause for the warfare.
  • Break the Haughty: Her post-induction scene has Noire force her to work servant positions (waitress, secretary), smacking her around when she tries to act haughty, until she's a blubbering, apologetic mess.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Both played straight and averted since she tends to break out coughing a lot, but not always.

Poona

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_poona.png

Voiced by: Rikako Ito (Japanese), Xanthe Huynh (English)

A slow-talking and slow-moving girl who resides in Lowee, Poona is all about the bonbon on her head, which serves as her main attack method and her "rights". For whatever reason, though, she has to constantly sell her "rights", or her city gets crushed by them.

  • Improbable Weapon User: Her main weapon is the giant bonbon on her head, which can also be set on fire.
  • White Mage: She can heal the other characters in battle.

Lady Wac

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_lady_wac.png

Voiced by: Kumi Sakuma (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)

(One of) the oldest Gamarket generals, Lady Wac has very little ambition beyond eating things, which leads to friction between her and the CPUs, especially if they want something from her. She resides in Lowee.

  • Elder Abuse: Specifically, any time the CPUs ever need anything from her, their MO is simply to insult her advanced age until she goes into a rage, then beat her down flat.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Aside from the fact that most of her attacks involve eating the enemy she has, on at least one occasion, considered eating the moon.
  • Sweet Tooth: She has a fondness of sweets.

Blossom Aisen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_blossom.png

Voiced by: Yuka Terasaki (Japanese), Erica Mendez (English)

A Lastation General with a great sense of honor and loyalty to her fellow partners, while also having a habit of building a harem with them. Though she has the appearance of a man, other characters can't help but swoon over how attractive she is.

  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: A part of her bangs obscure the left side of her eye, though she isn't hiding anything.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: With her calm, deep voice; short hair; slim build; and tuxedo-like outfit, one could've easily mistake her for a man if it weren't for the visible bustline and hips.
  • Royal Rapier: Her main weapon, used for a variety of graceful but dangerous attacks.

Ai Masujima

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_ai_masujima.png

Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka (Japanese), Faye Mata (English)

A Leanbox general, Ai acts like a stereotypical newbie idol - loud, shouty, and vaguely off-key. Despite this exterior, though, she has a manipulative side that can raise a lot of trouble for her opponents... assuming she even manages to pull it off.

Tsunemi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_tsunemi.png

Voiced by: Yukiko Tatsumi (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)

Planeptune's idol singer and General, Tsunemi is beloved and charished by everyone due to her music, but has trouble communicating with others and expressing her feelings, often speaking like a robot.

  • Expy: Of a certain Hatsune Miku, being a singer with big twintails and a similar outfit.
  • Idol Singer: Her job. She's more experienced than Ai, though.
  • Musical Assassin: Attacks enemies by singing. Her main weapons are megaphones, to boost her voice.
  • The Rival: To Ai Masujima, with them both being idols.
  • Super-Senses: Evidently can accurately hear things as far as a mile away, due to her occupation as a digital diva.

Saori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_saori.png

Voiced by: Ayaka Suwa (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)

A meek-looking school girl who treats everything like a dating sim. She resides in Lastation.

Generia G.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_generia.png

Voiced by: Eri Sendai (Japanese), Kira Buckland (English)

A Lastation General who is good at mechanics, especially robots.

  • Facial Markings: She has a red line that goes horizontally across her nose and under her eyes, making it look like she's wearing Nerd Glasses.
  • Wrench Wench: Not only does she enjoy building robots, she literally uses a wrench as her standard weapon.

Resta

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_resta.png

Voiced by: Kotori Koiwai (Japanese), Kira Buckland (English)

A young, elf-like girl who everyone fawns over due to her cuteness. She resides in Lastation.

  • Cuteness Proximity: Noire can't help but squee when Resta asks Noire to do something with her.
  • Expy: Of Ellis, down to the pink hair and pointy ears and being an innocent Token Mini-Moe with the ability to heal others.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has two curly pigtails that seem to accentuate her apparent age.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: She's obsessed with figuring out how babies are made, though a few scenes imply that she may already know and is merely using the question to make others uncomfortable. She's also prone to speaking quite harshly when annoyed with someone, only to insist that they're hearing things when called out on it.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She has light pink hair, and has the personality of an innocent child.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Compared to the other Generals, including the relatively petite Moru and Wyn, she is the smallest and youngest member.
  • White Mage: She is your first unit with healing spells, and in fact, only has two offensive spells, one of which is her special skill.

Little Rain note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_little_rain.png

Voiced by: Haruka Teramoto (Japanese), Natalie Hoover (English)

A Lastation General revered as a saint in her city. Shortly after the Sharicite incident, she was locked up in her city's jail for her city's safety.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: She does not like the fact that her people locked her up under the guise that it was absolutely necessary to protect her city.
  • Blood Knight: In her rage mode, she becomes very brutal in battle.
  • Expy: Of Little Snow from Spectral Force, with both having long, light hair that's tied at the bottom, wearing long brown/beige dresses, and wielding a magic staff with a crescent moon on top. Even her name is similar, just using a different type of weather. One cutscene even has Neptune tell her she looks like a character from a game she's been playing, even partially namedropping "Little Sn-" before she gets interrupted.
  • Mystical White Hair: She has long white hair worn in a low ponytail. Her special abilities involve magic.
  • White Mage: Like Resta and Poona, she possesses multiple healing spells. She is also the only non-Disc source for passive health regeneration, providing it through her Exe Drive as well as her Leader effect.

Ryuka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_ryuka.png

Voiced by: Yoshino Nanjo (Japanese), Erika Harlacher (English)

A Yakuza General from Lowee who is nonetheless a compassionate woman who will protect them in the face of danger. However, due to speaking in a derisive tone, she ends up unintentionally making enemies.

Vio

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperdevotion_vio.png

Voiced by: Amika Takahashi (Japanese), Mela Lee (English)

A skilled soldier with a rocket launcher of a gun that she seems to think will be the solution to every problem. She resides in Lastation.

    The Player (aka Secretary)

The Player (AKA Secretary)

You. Just arriving in Lastation, seeking a job at the same time as Noire's fiddling around with the Sharicite, you end up helping Noire out at a very critical juncture, and get hired as her personal secretary.

  • Audience Surrogate: Serves this one to the player, particularly the type who is in a relationship with someone.
  • The Generic Guy: You never appear on screen, and your dialogue isn't voiced (so you can read it yourself). The game does, however, establish that you're male.
  • Took a Level in Badass: When you help Lid infiltrate a fortress to rescue Saori and pull off a near Heroic Sacrifice to defend Noire during her Heroic BSoD.

  • Too Many Mouths: Aside from the "regular" mouth on his head, Time Eater also has mouths on his belly and at the end of each tentacle.

Introduced in Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online

Beta Testers

    Kiria

Kiria (real name Kazuko)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4go_kiria.png

Voiced by: Sayaka Senbongi (Japanese), Allegra Clark (English)

A player that proclaims herself as †Black Cat Princess†'s knight.

  • Bifauxnen: It's very easy to mistake her for a man at first glance. Her real life acquaintance remarks that she looks better in cute dresses than her bifauxnen looks in-game.
  • Expy: While her design and name note  is a dead-ringer to Kirito, she's essentially a port of Hiyori Kashiwazaka's Kuro avatar.
  • Extreme Doormat: For a majority of the story, she lets †Black Cat Princess† bully, manipulate, and push her around. It is implied that she had let her do this to her in a previous game as well despite †Black Cat Princess† showing often that she is a Manipulative Bastard.

    †Black Cat Princess†

†Black Cat Princess† (†Kuronekohime† in Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4go_black_cat_princess.png

Voiced by: Ayano Yamamoto (Japanese), Kayli Mills (English)

A player that uses her charms in order to manipulate others.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Puts up a facade of being lovey-dovey with Kiria, but prefers to sucker people in and use them.
  • Cats Are Mean: Her avatar is a cat and while she may look all cute and innocent, she's actually a jerk who bullies and hurts other players.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Tries to cheat with Kiria to become more powerful than everyone else. It backfires spectacularly.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: She is based on Kuroyukihime/Sayuki Kuroba from Accel World; they both wear primarily black outfits despite not being a villain, they both serve as a helpful companion figure to their leads (†Black Cat Princess† to Kiria, Kuroukihime to Haruyuki), they both have a non-human avatar (†Black Cat Princess† has a cat motif while Kuroyukihime has a butterfly motif), and they eventually mellow out into a better person by the end. But whereas Kuroyukihime is a sweetheart who genuinely cares for Haruyuki's well-being, †Black Cat Princess† is a two-faced cheater who will take advantage of her partner Kiria in order to achieve her goal.
  • Dub Name Change: She was named †Kuronekohime† in the Japanese version, while the IFI localization dubs her †Black Cat Princess† instead.
  • Heel Realization: She finally realizes by the end of the game how much her behavior is actively hurting other people in the game, and accepts her account's permaban without problem along with Kiria.
  • It's All About Me: Starts to shed her fake self and eventually shows she wants everyone to praise her and treat her like a goddess. It is heavily hinted that the reason her guild in an older game eventually disbanded was due to her toxic attitude.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Bullies other players and, in an optional cutscene, says she wants to dump Kiria because she is starting to find her boring and does not like others seeing her as weak whatsoever.
  • Punny Name: Her name in the Japanese version, Kuronekohime (Black Cat Princess), is a play on Kuroyukihime (Kuroba's avatar name), which means "Black Snow Princess" in english.

NPCs

    Bouquet

Bouquet

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4go_bouquet.png
As Sister Maria

Voiced by: Aya Uchida (Japanese), Ryan Bartley (English)

An NPC guardian spirit who Vert really wants to make her little sister.

  • Brick Joke: It took until Vert actually decided to create her own ideal little sister for her to even possibly get one.
  • Expy: Of Sword Art Online's Yui, with both being fully functional AI in a game world.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A sweet, helpful and noble fairy with matching blonde hair.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Compiles the antivirus in order to destroy Cheetah (since they're based on the same code) and unleash it, which would have resulted in her death if the GM didn't patch her program to survive in time.
  • Mythology Gag: Her role as Vert's quasi-sister was actually based off an idea Rina Sato (Vert's Japanese voice actress) made, who designed the concept of the character.
  • Light Is Good: Her dress is white and is one of the good guys of Cyberdimension, being a supportive ally to the Beta Testers.
  • Marshmallow Hell: She gets hugged face-first into Vert's ample chest.

    The Four Goddesses
For the actual four Goddesses, see here

General Tropes about the Four Goddesses

  • Artificial Intelligence: The Four Goddesses in this game isn't the CPUs transforming, but are AIs based on their transformed states' likeness and in personality.
  • Big Good: They're treated like this in the game's setting, although they struggle with out-of-context problems like cheaters.
  • Gold and White Are Divine: They are all dressed in white clothes with golden highlights.
  • Holy Halo: They all have a halo glowing blue above their heads.
  • Light Is Good: They are all divine, and unambiguously good.
  • Winged Humanoid: All the goddesses have a pair of angelic wings, which symbolizes their divine nature.

Cheetah (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4go_cheetah.png

Voiced by: Rica Matsumoto (Japanese), Danielle McRae (English)

Kiria and †Black Cat Princess†'s fusion form that they used to PK other players, which is normally impossible to do since the game doesn't support PVP combat. Cheetah turns out to be combat AI made by Mine in order to destabilize and destroy 4GO, and it being used by Kiria and †Black Cat Princess† is mainly to train up its combat algorithm.

  • Dragon-in-Chief: Towards the story's climax, Mine completes its algorithm, made it independent of Kiria and †Black Cat Princess†, and sets it loose. However, she ends up losing control of it after she tries to stop Cheetah and it still tries to destroy the game after Mine stops trying to do so. The CPUs have to fight it in person instead.
  • Punny Name: Its name is pun of "cheater".

GM (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1000008278.png

Voiced by: Aya Uchida (Japanese), Ryan Bartley (English)

The main GM of the game.

  • The Alleged Boss: She's not that bad at being engineer by any means, especially consider later when she fought in hacking duel with Mine. But as a player, she, and the other GMs, are really not up to par. This causes problems when Mine triggered monsters to attack the main city and she couldn't just put the game in emergency maintenance due to Mine's interference, resulting in her having to ask other players, including the CPUs, to help fight them off.

Antagonists

    Mysterious Person (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Mysterious Person/Mastermind/Mine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4go_mine.png

Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese), Erika Harlacher (English)

A mysterious person in a black robe who keeps trying to sell cheat tools to other players. She turns out to be a former CEO/game designer of a rival game company to Weiss, who wants to destroy 4GO after its popularity results in her own game dropping in popularity and eventually causing her company to shut down.

  • Big Bad: She's responsible for the creation of Cheetah, as well as the various other glitches endangering 4GO's players.
  • The Cracker: Being a former game engineer gives her considerable skill at understanding and subverting game systems. The GM is more skilled at countering her, however, which eventually results in her loss.
  • It's All About Me: What caused her personal and company's downfall. She was far more focused on putting only what she wanted and thought was good for her game versus accepting input and ideas from the other developers and players. Overlaps with Never My Fault when she ends up blaming 4GO for her losses. She gets better.

    Bombyx Mori

Bombyx Mori

A group formed by Filyn and the main obstacle for Neptune's party. They also seem to have a Steampunk aesthetic, fitting the more medieval atmosphere of RPG.

General Tropes

  • Dub Name Change: In the original Japanese dub, the subordinates for Filyn were named Kukei Tobihachi, Mai Kamimura, and Surara Izuda. In the dub, they're respectively Paix St. Gliss, Artura Arrima, and Ester Zira.
  • Nebulous Evil Organization: At first, they just seem to be a local organization in Lastation, but it soon becomes really apparent that they control much of the world and are definitely up to no good.
  • Obviously Evil: They wear predominantly black outfits with red accents while having a controlling and oppressive attitude towards civilians. It's a wonder someone as Genre Savvy as Neptune was so easily convinced into joining them.

"Doesn't being a world-saving Vtuber sound amazing?! We'll be super famous!"

  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The extroverted and peppy red to You's blue, even having an orange color scheme to match.
  • Vibrant Orange: An orange-theme VTuber with a cheery personality.

    You

You

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nep_virtual_stars_you_2d.png
"It's because we're Vtubers. We're already virtual."

    Vice

Vice

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nep_virtual_stars_vice_2d.png
"Gah...Okay, I'll handle this then. You just stay put and rest!"

  • Dark Is Not Evil: Vice has black hair, wears a black outfit with some teal on it, and is described as a "devil" due to her appearance and personality; but is overall a good person.
  • Foil: To Licht. Vice is given the title of "devil", her outfit and hair are colored in black, and is one of the shortest and most petite members of the V-Idols unit. Licht, meanwhile, is a tall, busty, Cool Big Sis whose attire consists of bright colors and has blonde hair, and is given the label of "angel". However, Vice is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who cares for her allies and can put aside her arrogance whenever the world is in danger, whereas Licht is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who takes pleasure in toying with her allies, especially Vice herself.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has two long twin tails that match her childishly pompous attitude.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can be quite a jerk to others and often takes pleasure in riling them up due to her high-and-mighty mindset, but she genuinely cares about the well-being of others.
  • Meaningful Name: "Vice" is another word for the Seven Deadly Sins, which fits her black color scheme and devilish appearance.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: She is the shortest member of the V-Idols, and is sometimes arrogant and prideful, although she isn't a bad person.

    Licht

Licht

"Yes. We will do our best for the sake of the planet."

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Licht seems like a typical Cool Big Sis, but is actually a sadist who takes pleasure in messing with Vice.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Despite her seemingly "angelic" appearance and personality, she has a naughty mind and enjoys toying with her partner.
  • Foil: To Vice. Licht is given the title of "angel", wears an outfit that has a light color scheme, and is one of the tallest and most buxom members of the V-idol unit. Her rival, Vice, is short and flat-chested, her outfit and hair are black, and is given the label of "devil". However, Licht's seemingly angelic personality is more or less a front to hide the fact that she's a huge pervert who often makes suggestive comments about herself and the girls as well as having a sadistic side in which she gets a kick out of seeing the girls squeamish, whereas Vice is a good-hearted person despite her devilish appearance.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Zig-Zagged. Licht has blonde hair with a white circle printed on it. Personality-wise, she seems outwardly friendly and approachable, acting like a surrogate big sister to the other V-idol members. Deep down however, she's a Covert Pervert with a sadistic streak who loves to tease her friends whenever she feels self-satisfied.
  • Light Is Good: Zig-Zagged. Licht's primary color scheme is composed of bright colors, has angelic elements to her design, and is the designated "angel" to Vice's "devil". Her name, in fact, is the German translation for "light". Personality-wise, she's a good-hearted girl who often serves as the Cool Big Sis of the V-idols, but has a perverted side that doesn't really match her image at all and loves to mess around with her friends a little bit to much.
  • Meaningful Name: "Licht" is German for "light", fitting her angelic image and light color scheme.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While not completely evil, she takes pleasure in toying with the emotions of her friends, especially Vice.

    Mauli

  • Cheery Pink: Some of her outfits are pink, which matches her cheerful persona.

  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: The Energetic to Kili's Soft-Spoken. She speaks in a loud high-pitched voice and is perpetually in a good mood.
  • Vibrant Orange: The sweater she wears is orange, with a chipper personality to match.

  • Badass Boast: She constantly brags about her achievements and how she will destroy the heroes.
  • Evil Redhead: Her hair is peach and is one of the main antagonists of Ninja Wars.
  • Gratuitous English: Constantly. Out of every character in the series, she is easily the one who speaks the most English in the Japanese version. For instance, she refers to herself as "mii" ("me") and others as "yuu" ("you").
  • Insistent Terminology: In the Japanese version she makes it a point to inform others that she is a ninja. Not "忍者", "Ninja". Blanc is quick to snap at the absurdity of it, given that they're quite literally the same thing.
  • Punny Name: On yō gēmā, a Japanese term used to describe western gamers'.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She is a villain with red eyes.
