Eh, what's up, doc? Going through TV Tropes again?

The seventeenth episode of the second season of The Looney Tunes Show.

Daffy becomes obsessed with online shopping, then Yosemite Sam takes him to group therapy. Meanwhile, Bugs becomes obsessed with a video game.

This episode features two Merrie Melodies music videos; "I Love to Sing-a" and "Parade Float".

This episode provides examples of:

  • The Alleged Car: Daffy Duck's parade float. The Merrie Melodies music video about it highlights its status with lyrics such as "Parade Float, the AC blows hot. Parade Float, the transmission is shot.", "It won't go over twenty-five", and "It tends to catch on fire."
  • Big "WHY?!": Daffy lets out one when Bugs prevents him from ordering an eight-person tent.
  • The Cameo: Daffy and Sam's group therapy includes Pepé Le Pew (who gets a line) and Marvin.
  • Character Development: In the series' first episode, "Best Friends", Daffy knew absolutely nothing about Bugs, including his obvious favorite vegetable, incorrectly guessing "Beets" when the two appeared on Besties. In this episode, Daffy knows Bugs so much that he correctly guesses that he changed his password for the computer four times in a row; carrot, carrot1, carrot2, and carrot3.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: Daffy suffers from shopping withdrawal in the middle of the night and gets caught fooling around on the computer. Averted later with Bugs, who (despite his constant obsession throughout the episode) can drop the game quite easily after beating it and would be content with it being thrown away.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Bugs not having a deeper problem at the root of his video game obsession convinces Daffy that he also doesn't have any deeper problems or need therapy. Porky and Tina's attempt to point out Daffy plainly does need therapy doesn't go anywhere.
  • Continuity Nod: Three in the "Parade Float" Merrie Melodies music video.
  • Cuddle Bug: Daffy, after taking a level in kindness, starts randomly hugging people.
  • Determinator: Bugs becomes this when he becomes obsessed with the titular game.
  • Exact Words: Bugs tells Daffy that he doesn't want one more package delivered to their house. Daffy's way around this is to have the packages sent to Yosemite Sam's house.
  • Freudian Excuse:
    • While in therapy, Sam realizes that his anger issues stem from being teased for growing a mustache at a young age.
    • Daffy's therapy breakthrough has him realize that he wants to be accepted by others but has deep rooted insecurities out of fear of being rejected.
    • Averted with Bugs obsessively playing the video game. He simply just wanted to beat a game he had come to like and is absolutely done with it once he does, outright refuting Daffy's claims that he was driven by some kind of deeper issue. Whereas Daffy was bullied and rejected as a child, Bugs was extremely popular.
  • Full Moon Silhouette: In the "Parade Float" Merrie Melodies music video, the silhouette of Daffy's parade float flies past the sun when Daffy drives it off a cliff.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Sam has been going to group therapy for his anger issues, while Pepé Le Pew is looking for healthy dating relationships.
    • Gossamer takes piano lessons taught by Granny.
  • Hypocritical Humor: After his therapy breakthrough, Daffy goes on at length to Tina about how he is more understanding and considerate of other people's needs and feelings, all as she's trying to work and asking him to stop bothering her. He does similarly while Porky is trying to take a bath.
  • Lampshade Hanging: While playing the game, Bugs questions why a medieval fantasy video game would give the characters guns.
  • Last-Second Word Swap: The last few lyrics in the "Parade Float" Merrie Melodies music video are "Just don't try to pass, or he'll flatten your car" (instead of saying ass).
  • Low Clearance: At the end of the "Parade Float" Merrie Melodies music video, Daffy drives the titular vehicle under a low bridge, which beheads it.
  • Noodle Incident: Sam flipped out on his dry cleaner and kept shooting him with a water pistol.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Sam accurately notes that Daffy's shopping addiction stems from a longing on the inside, saying he's working on similar issues himself.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": Bugs put a new password on his computer to prevent Daffy from buying more stuff online.
Bugs: I've changed my password.
Daffy: Is it "carrot?"
(surprised by Daffy's guess, Bugs goes back to his computer and makes a new password, then goes back to the kitchen)
Bugs: It's not "carrot" anymore.
Daffy: Is it "carrot1"?
(surprised by his second guess, goes to his computer and makes a new password again, followed by going upstairs)
Bugs: Stay off my computer!
  • Shout-Out: Daffy mentions to Sam that he ordered the first three seasons of Ally McBeal.
  • Status Quo Is God: Daffy goes back to his old ways when Bugs says that he couldn't stop playing Gribbler's Quest, which was why he was awake for three days.
  • That's All, Folks!: Daffy asking who in the audience wants a hug.
  • Tied-Together-Shoelace Trip: In the prologue to this episode, Daffy shows Porky a new pair of basketball shoes he bought online. Porky tries to tell Daffy that he accidentally tied his shoelaces together, but to no avail. Daffy ends up tripping when he tries to play basketball.
  • Title Drop: Gribbler's Quest IV: Elves vs. Fairies vs. Gribblers.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Daffy, after going to group therapy a couple times.
  • The Unreveal: We never did get to see what a gribbler looks like.
