Recap / The Looney Tunes Show S 1 E 25 The Muh Muh Muh Murder

Go To

The twenty-fifth episode of the first season of The Looney Tunes Show.

When Daffy sees a news report about a murderer called the Suburban Strangler, who resembles Porky, he comes to the conclusion that Porky is the murderer. Meanwhile, Bugs has to take care of Lola when she breaks her leg.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: The murderer who resembles Porky is called the Suburban Strangler.
  • Artistic License – Biology: The crow Lola mistakes for a baby is of the "black-and-yellow" kind seen in cartoons (real crows have black bills and feet).
  • Berserk Button: Porky is usually a nice guy, but he does not like having scalding hot tea thrown in his face.
  • Continuity Nod: Early in this episode, when Porky pays for his, Bugs' and Daffy's meal, Bugs volunteers to pay it for him, since he still feels bad about getting him fired from his old job, referencing the events of a previous episode, "Bugs and Daffy Get a Job". It is soon revealed that Porky got a new job as a caterer.
  • Cut Phone Lines: Daffy thinks thinks Porky has done this as part of a plot to trap him in his house. In actuality, the real reason the phone in Porky's house doesn't work is because it's an antique that's just for decoration.
  • Foreshadowing: When Daffy tells Bugs and Porky that he shouldn't have to pay for his food since it's his birthday, Bugs reminds him that his birthday is next week. Near the end of the episode, it was revealed that Porky was planning a surprise party for Daffy, which he planned to do on Daffy's actual birthday until Daffy got suspicious.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: When Porky drops Daffy off at Bugs' house, Daffy tells him he can't get in since he doesn't have the keys to it. When Porky asks him why he doesn't have a wallet or keys, Daffy tells him that he's a spiritual being who isn't interested in material possessions. He then sees a pair of sunglasses and asks Porky if he can have them.
  • Injured Limb Episode: In this episode's B-plot, Lola breaks her leg and Bugs has to take care of her.
  • Mistaken for Murderer: In this episode, Daffy becomes convinced that Porky is the Suburban Strangler and that he has been selected as the Strangler's next victim.
  • Meaningful Name: When Porky reveals to Bugs and Daffy that he has a new job in catering, Daffy asks Porky if being around all that food is tempting, since his name is "Porky Pig", not "Health and Fitness Pig".
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Porky's license plate number is PP1935. Porky's first theatrical short, "I Haven't Got A Hat", aired in 1935.
    • This episode's main premise, a duck learning of a murderer that resembles his pig friend and coming to the conclusion that they're one and the same and that the pig is trying to kill him resembles the Tiny Toon Adventures episode, "America's Least Wanted", where it was played out by Daffy and Porky's respective junior counterparts, Plucky and Hamton.
    • Speedy has thrown a Surprise Party for Daffy in the past, in 1967's "Fiesta Fiasco", and just like in that one, Daffy suspects that there's a conspiracy going on behind it.
  • Straying Baby: When Lola tells the story of how she broke her leg, she saw what looked like a baby crawling on the top of a building, and climbed to the top to save it, only to realize when she got to the top, it wasn't a baby, it was a crow who attacked her.
  • Vanity License Plate: Porky's license plate reads PP1935.

Daffy: I still think Porky's a murderer.
