This episode provides examples of...

Overall:

Milk, It Makes a Body Spout:

  • Continuity Nod: When Buster and Plucky look for a student to test out their material on, Furrball can be seen eating Sweeties cereal, which was previously advertised in the second wraparound of "How Sweetie It Is".
  • Determinator: While Buster gives up after his Foghorn Leghorn impression fails to get a rise out of Hamton, Plucky continues his own efforts to amuse him, eventually roping Buster back in for one last gag together.
  • Dynamite Candle: Many of these are used in the cake Buster and Plucky make for Hamton in a final, collaborative attempt to make him laugh.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Plucky pretends to be a mailbox, he has this reaction when Granny mistakes him for an actual mailbox and attempts to mail all the postcards her class is sending (which is a giant bag's worth) by shoving them in his mouth.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Near the end of this short, it is revealed that the reason why Hamton wasn't laughing at anything Buster or Plucky were doing is because he wasn't paying any attention to them. In fact, he was thinking about a math problem.
  • Spraying Drink from Nose: This short involves Buster and Plucky competing to see who can make Hamton laugh so hard, milk squirts out his nose first. All three of them laugh with milk squirting out of their noses at the end of the short when Hamton slips on the huge mess from the cake Buster and Plucky made.

America's Least Wanted:

  • Affectionate Parody: America's Top 10 Criminals is this to America's Most Wanted, and this short's title is also a reference to the series.
  • Ax-Crazy: Knuckles tries to kill Plucky with an axe at the end of the short.
  • Bag of Kidnapping: How Plucky ultimately attempts to take Hamton to the police. As mentioned below, it would have worked had Plucky not picked up the wrong bag on the way.
  • Criminal Doppelgänger: The antagonist of the short, Knuckles Cutlet, bears a strong resemblance to Hamton, but the only difference between the two is that Knuckles has facial hair, a scar, and a missing tooth. Plucky, however, is unable to tell the difference.
  • The Danza: Casey Kasem provided the voice of Flakey Flakems, the host of America's Top 10 Criminals.
  • Donut Mess with a Cop: When Plucky and Hamton come across a pair of cops, Plucky acts like Hamton is trying to attack him to get their attention. One of the cops stops and asks Hamton where the donut shop is, and Hamton leads the way. Though considering that the police had arrested the real Knuckles, it makes sense that they wouldn't mistake Hamton for Knuckles.
  • Downer Ending: The short ends with Hamton getting arrested by mistake, and Plucky accidentally leading Knuckles back to Hamton's house, with the impostor trying to kill Plucky.
  • Identical Stranger: Knuckles bears a strong resemblance to Hamton. This ends up becoming Plucky's undoing at the end of the short.
  • Mistaken for Murderer: Plucky mistakes Hamton for Knuckles and spends a majority of the short trying to turn Hamton in for a $25,000 reward. He even sees what looks like Hamton choking Elmer and tries to save the latter, but it turns out that Hamton was actually rearranging his sacroiliac, as Elmer's regular chiropractor was on vacation.
  • Satchel Switcheroo: To get the reward money for Knuckles' capture, Plucky tricks Hamton into crawling into a sack, which he then ties shut and tries to take to the police. Along the way, he bumps into some bank employees who are transporting money and grabs a sack of money by mistake. When he presents the bag to the police, they find it full of money, and Plucky is promptly arrested.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Towards the end of this short, Plucky tries to turn Hamton in to the police after he pays his bail. The police aren't fooled, since they arrested the real Knuckles almost an hour ago. This doesn't stop Plucky from trying to turn Knuckles in for the $25,000 reward himself.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stab the Salad: While Plucky watches America's Top 10 Criminals, Hamton's shadow is cast over the TV and seemingly stabs it with a knife. Plucky assumes it's Knuckles and freaks out, then turns to see Hamton had prepared some food for him (which Plucky assumes was poisoned for him).
  • Take That!: When Plucky is channel surfing, he flips through a parody of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, depicting Chip and Dale as squirrels. This clip would later be used in the opening to the short-lived spin-off, The Plucky Duck Show, during the line, "Other shows seem yucky now that Plucky's on the air!".
  • Taking Advantage of Generosity: Plucky invites himself into Hamton's house and makes Hamton bring him food while he watches TV.
Plucky: What? No butter? Really, Hamton, you've got a lot to learn about being a good host. No butter on popcorn, no pizza rolls, keep this up and I won't invite myself over anymore.

Drawn and Buttered:

  • The Door Slams You: Happens to the Lobster near the end of the short when Elmyra comes into Hamton's house.
  • Fate Worse than Death: At the end of the short, Elmyra comes into Hamton's house, wanting to protect the Lobster from Hamton. The Lobster ultimately decides to take his chances in a pot of hot water.
  • I Have a Family: The Lobster begs Hamton to spare his life by showing him a wallet filled with pictures of his alleged family. Hamton knows he's lying, because he has the same pictures; they came with his wallet.
  • Red Live Lobster: This short features Hamton facing off against an obnoxious lobster he plans to cook for dinner. The lobster is bright red despite having not even gotten into the pot.
  • Shout-Out:
    • After the Lobster literally puts Hamton in hot water, he then says a line used in many Tex Avery cartoons:
Lobster: I do this kind of stuff to him all through the cartoon.
    • Hamton channels Darth Vader when attempting to kill the Lobster, whom he thought was a giant cockroach.
Hamton: (breathes heavily) And now, young side-walker, you die!
