Episode 1 - "The Old Soft Curved Padlock"

• Prize Task: The Best Liquid
  • Winner: Tim - a bottle of "Fizzy Benylin"^note fizzy water mixed with benylin cough syrup (5 points)
  • Alice - a vial of her blood (4 points)
  • Liza - a bottle of pure water from Cabo de Hornos in Chile, reportedly the cleanest water in the world (3 points)
  • Asim and Russell (1 point):
    • Asim - "peanut dust"-flavoured vape fluid inspired by his character Chabuddy G in People Just Do Nothing
    • Russell - a bottle of Brut for Men aftershave

• Task 1: Perform The Best Stunt Using A Wheelbarrow
  • Winner: Alice (5 points)^note sat in the wheelbarrow, had her ankles tied to the bumper of the Taskmaster's Assistant's car by rope and had him drive off... pulling off what turned out to be a fake pair of legs
  • Russell (4 points)^note both Russell and the Taskmaster's Assistant drank alcohol and lit cigarettes, before Russell climbed into the wheelbarrow and had the Assistant crash him into a wheelie bin full of bricks
  • Liza (3 points)^note constructed a zipwire to carry the wheelbarrow (and some chocolates) to the Taskmaster's Assistant, which only travlled halfway along the line
  • Tim (2 points)^note used the wheelbarrow and a mattress to construct a 'sledge ravine' which he slid halfway down while the Taskmaster's Assistant threw tennis balls at him
  • Asim (1 point)^note crashed the wheelbarrow through a brick wall while attached to a bicycle in order to rescue a 'hostage' (a mannequin), with gratuitous use of slow motion footage

• Task 2: Make The Highest Tower Using Lemons In A Bowl And A Knife You Can Only Wield Five Times^note there were also toothpicks hidden within one of the lemons
  • Winner: Russell - 11 inches (5 points)^note causing some discussion, as Russell's tower was measured on the diagonal
  • Alice - 9 inches (4 points)^note the only contestant to discover the hidden toothpicks; she also realized that the rules didn't preclude obtaining another knife from the kitchen that could be wielded an infinite amount of times
  • Liza - a size 1 1/2 child's shoe (actual height not given) (3 points)
  • Tim - a size 11 1/2 child's shoe (7 inches) (2 points)
  • Asim - height not given (1 point)^note the height of one half lemon, as Asim failed to construct a tower

• Task 3: Find Your Way Back To The Taskmaster's House In The Closest To Thirty Minutes And, While Wearing A Hat Not Found On The Premises, Kiss The Portrait Of The Taskmaster
  • Winner: Alice (5 points)^note kissed the portrait in 28 and a half minutes; convinced a stranger in the nearby gym to give her a lift to the house, then sat around killing time for a few minutes
  • Russell (4 points)^note kissed the portrait in 24 minutes; used the Taskmaster's Assistant's phone to call his manager for a lift to the house
  • Liza (3 points)^note kissed the portrait in 20 minutes 50 seconds; took a leisurely walk and created headwear from her own scarf
  • Tim (2 points)^note kissed the portrait in 10 minutes 40 seconds; misunderstood the task as 'reach the Taskmaster's House the fastest'

    • Alice - a clump of her own hair, sourced from her hairbrush and the bath/sink plugs

• Task 1: Get The Highest Score In Outdoor Darts^note contestants were given the choice of throwing one dart from one metre away, three darts from 2.37 metres away (the official regulation distance for a game of darts), or sixty darts from ten metres away

  • Winner: Alice and Russell (4 points)^note unplugged the hose to the showerhead which was placed directly above the Assistant's head, then showboated by toweling and blow-drying him, and giving him a dry martini

• Task 3: Take A Picture Of The Largest Group Of People Holding Eggs
  • Winner: Liza (5 points)^note photoshopped 85 people and eggs into a photo with herself, which wasn't against the rules

  • Alice (2 points)^note she and 8 of her Radio 1 colleagues held chocolate mini eggs
  • Tim (1 point)^note took a photo of himself and his butcher holding eggs between two mirrors. However, the Taskmaster only counted 8 people and eggs in total in the photo, so Tim was pipped to last place

• Task 4: Make A Wind-Up Little Toy Man Go On The Most Extraordinary Journey
  • Winner: Asim - took his toy man through a sewer tunnel filled with monsters and fire and greeted him on the other side (5 points)
  • Liza - sent her toy man across a parking lot with moving vehicles, during which he gets knocked over and was put out of his misery (4 points)
  • Alice, Russell and Tim (3 points)
    • Alice - sent her toy man by air mail to her cousin in Australia using a postal address that is 30 years old, so there was no certainty as to whether he made it to his destination
    • Russell - with the Taskmaster's Assistant reading out spiritual proverbs, took the man up along the roof and dropped him from that height into the Assistant's hands
    • Tim - attached his toy man to a piece of string and took him up a tree, where the man was caught in some branches and had to be rescued.

• Live Task: When Instructed, Put A Grape In Either Your Hand Or Your Mouth While Staring At The Taskmaster, Then Answer His Questions. If The Taskmaster Guesses Where The Grape Is Correctly, You Are Eliminated. Last Contestant To Trick The Taskmaster Wins

  • Winner: Tim - a round at "Jurassic Encounters", a dinosaur-themed crazy golf course, followed by lunch at The American Way, a burger restaurant in Cheam^note Tim's home village in the London Borough of Sutton where Tim both acts as DJ and has a dish in his honour, concluding with a visit to Sutton United football ground for free kicks and penalties against the team's reserve goalkeeper (if he's available) (5 points)
  • Liza - an exclusive fitting by Timothy Everest, a master Savile Row tailor, for a winter coat, followed by a walking "Blue Plaque" tour around London and a late lunch / dinner at a high-end London eatery with four mystery guests (4 points)
  • Russell - a day at Aqualand in Benidorm with Russell's mum (3 points)
  • Asim - a fun day at the Gaudi Museum in Barcelona, wherein hangs a painting of Hercules that greatly resembles Asim, followed by a kebab (2 points)
  • Alice - a travel card for the London Underground (1 point)

• Task 1: Write, Illustrate And Read A Bedtime Story For Grown Ups In Fifty Words
  • Winner: Liza - The Scatterbrained Man (a workaholic man eats a prawn sandwich left in his car, with unfortunate consequences) (5 points)

    • Asim - Upset Tummy (AKA The Shits) (a Based on a True Story telling of Asim's horrifying experiences after trying a take-out fish paella)

  • Winner: Liza - acted as the box's downtrodden "wife", bringing it tea and food as it "watched" sports on television (5 points)

    • Russell - stood shirtless in the box sawing a plank of wood and bellowing masculine life-advice to the Taskmaster's Assistant

  • Winner: Liza - a troubling piece called Once^note basically the squirty cream was on the side of the Taskmaster house in the shape of a rectangle and allowed to drip down over time (5 points)
  • Alice - a recreation of the Mona Lisa (the "Mona Creamer") with ground coffee beans for added colour (4 points)
  • Russell - The Diabetic Crime Scene^note a body outline, with the Taskmaster's Assistant as the model, of a man who enjoys scuba diving and ukulele-playing who suddenly has his balls chopped off(3 points)
  • Tim - Her Majesty the Cream^note a giant "ER" to represent Elizabeth II (2 points)
  • Asim - an allegory for global warming^note a giraffe inside a bell jar drowning in cream while other animals look on (1 point)

• Task 4: Remove The £5 Note From Underneath A Pint Of Beer Without Touching The Glass Or Spilling Any Of The Pint

  • Alice - 5 feet and 7 inches^note Alice cut a piece of the string the same length as her height (2 points)
  • Liza - 4 miles (1 point)

• Task 2: Pull The Tablecloth Off The Table In One Attempt. Most Unbroken Eggs Wins

    The Taskmaster was displeased that everyone managed to complete the task without breaking any eggs and threatened to attack his Assistant if there were any more tasks like this one lined up.

• Task 3: Team Task - Find The Link Between Seemingly Random Clues, Then Do It 100 Times^note the link is "hop"
  • Winner: Asim, Liza and Tim (5 points)^note Liza quickly figured out the clue and completed the task in the background while Asim and Tim struggled to solve the puzzle
  • Alice and Russell (3 points)

• Task 4: Pull Off The Most Elaborate Trick Shot
  • Winner: Tim - "The Lesser-Potted Giraffe"^note struck a snooker ball into a squeaky giraffe toy (5 points)
  • Liza - a "trick" shot animated with the magic of video editing (4 points)
  • Russell - a series of "tricky" shots: chipped a football into the caravan, shot a basketball into a tub, hula-hooped for 5 full circles, threw a hula around an upside down flower pot, karate-kicked an oil drum, and finally did a successful snooker shot (3 points)
  • Asim - constructed a long tube and dropped the snooker ball into it until it hit another ball into a hole (2 points)
  • Alice - moved and tilted the table around until all the balls were in the holes (1 point)

    • Asim - a pair of 3D-printed sneakers
    • Alice - blueprints for a device which enables smartphones to tether together to share battery power
    • Russell - Cup Cereal^note basically, the idea of eating cereal from a cup

• Task 1: Make The Best Snow Globe
  • Winner: Russell - a variety of figurines glued to the top of a pedestal in a large bell jar... that must be shaken with one's entire body like a bizarre Amish sex ritual (5 points)
  • Liza - a small butter churner filled with water and LOTS of glitter (4 points)
  • Alice and Tim (3 points)
    • Alice - "face meat"^note Billy Bear Ham on mannequins, plus cotton balls for snow, while a clear glass bowl held by the Taskmaster's assistant acted as the "globe"
    • Tim - a snowman made with food items (with grapes as green gloves)... that was destroyed in a blender "with elements of his smile" no matter what angle one looks at it
  • Asim - a condom filled with two Jon Snow figurines^note both the Game of Thrones character and the Channel 4 broadcaster and squirty cream... which he then pops with a knife (1 point)

• Task 2: Team Task - Knock Over As Many Rubber Ducks As Possible While Each Team Member Remains On The Red Carpet
  • Winner: Asim, Liza and Tim (5 points)
  • Alice and Russell (Disqualified)^note Russell was knocked off the carpet

• Task 3: Make The Biggest Announcement To The Most People
  • Winner: Asim - announced on the previous week's episode that he was officially turning vegan (5 points)
  • Tim - attempted to make the word "ANNOUNCEMENT" in large letters outside Bristol Airport, but only managed "AN" before being stopped by police and asked to move on (4 points)
  • Alice and Liza (2 points)
    • Alice - announced that a "quattro formaggio" pizza contained four different types of cheese, not four times the amount of cheese, on Twitter
    • Liza - announced on the show that she announced things (such as happy birthday messages) on her radio show

There was one live task for which nobody received any points (though not through disqualification). This was the first such outcome in the show.

This series marked both the first time everyone jointly won an individual video task and the first time both teams were joint winners of a team task.

Episode Titles

Each episode is a Title Drop made by either a participant in the show, the Taskmaster, or the Taskmaster's Assistant. In this series, the titles were provided by:

• Episode 1: The Taskmaster (in response to Alice Levine's claim that she had mistaken a banana for a padlock during the "remove the required items with your feet only" live task" "Ah yes, the old soft curved padlock.")
• Episode 2: Liza Tarbuck (an item she suggested that her team locate to help during the "keep the Taskmaster's Assistant as dry as possible" task which, following puzzled questioning from the Taskmaster and her fellow contestants, she admitted she had apparently just made up in the heat of the moment, presumably meaning just tarpaulin: "Binbags or tarpeters!")
• Episode 3: The Taskmaster's Assistant quoting Asim Chaudhry (Asim located the item in question while inspecting some of the Taskmaster-brand baby food during the "guess the ingredients of the baby food" task: "One warm prawn, he said."
• Episode 4: Liza Tarbuck (shouted while riding a bike during the "have as most fun as possible" task: "BMXing! That's fun!")
• Episode 5: Asim Chaudhry (during the "find the link between these clues then do it 100 times" task — while technically every contestant uttered the letter 'H' at some point, Asim particularly got fixated upon it and kept repeating it as if trying to force an epiphany upon himself: "H...! H...!"
• Episode 6: Tim Vine (part of his backstory for the "make the best parachute for this wooden spoon" task, wherein the spoon and he were apparently wartime comrades but not incredibly close: "Well, we met at mealtimes, but...")
• Episode 7: Alice Levine (her description of one of the items within the box during the "draw a picture of what's in this box without looking inside" task: "There's a thing that feels like roadkill doused in syrup.")
• Episode 8: Liza Tarbuck (on being asked whether the Taskmaster's Assistant will be able to locate any pictures of her wearing purple, which she has claimed in the "find the most things in common with this person" task to be her favourite colour: "What kind of pictures?")
• Episode 9: The Taskmaster's Assistant (introducing Asim Chaudhry and Tim Vine's attempt to produce the largest bubble and burst it with their nose: "We're gonna start with the Bubble Brothers — that's what we call them, Asim and Tim, the Bubble Brothers.")
• Episode 10: Liza Tarbuck (discussing her decision to complete the "tell the Taskmaster you love him in the most meaningful way" task by making his assistant sit bare-bottomed in a cake: "I felt so dirty! He was a different man! You were different, weren't you? [...] He really really was!")

This is the first series in which all but one of the contestants provided an episode title.
