Nick gets a faceful of the Baron.

And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Nick and Juliette's reunion is interrupted by zombie attacks in Portland. The gang find and test an antidote, but their attempt to administer it to the zombie horde goes wrong when Nick is lured into a trap by Baron Samedi.

This episode provides examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: The mechanic Monroe and Rosalee cure as a test describes being zombified in these terms.
Mechanic: I thought I'd died and gone to hell.
  • Bad Boss: Eric wants a demonstration of Baron Samedi's ability, so he calls in a security guy who's worked for him for seven years. Once the guy's under, he cheerfully asks how much pain the guy's in.
  • Balancing Death's Books: Restoring Adalind's Hexenbiest nature requires the heart of another Hexenbiest.
  • Battle Couple: Nick and Juliette are on their way to being this trope, with Juliette going with the group into the port to find zombies and inject them with antidote.
Juliette: I'm not staying at home alone anymore.
  • Broken Masquerade: Nick comes home and Juliette asks him how his day was. He tells her about the Cracher-Mortel and the zombies, looking weirded out at being able to just answer a simple question without any half-truths and artful euphemisms.
Juliette: You want to tell me about it?
Nick: Okay, let's give it a try. [Beat] All right, so there's a wesen called a Cracher-Mortel, and apparently he can spit something in your face that can paralyze you to the point where you appear dead, but you're not. And when you wake up a little bit later, you are a little crazed and very violent. You want to destroy everything that you can see. Apparently this has something to do with a voodoo ritual.
Juliette: So, just a normal day at the office?
  • Call-Back:
Eric: From what I've heard, he's proven tremendously effective.
  • Cowboy Cop: Taking a subdued drugging victim to a local apothecary rather than the hospital is probably not proper procedure, but Rosalee has a much better chance of finding a cure.
    Hank: Can we do this?
Nick: [Stuffing the man in the trunk] Hell if I know!
  • Cliffhanger: While Juliette, Monroe and Rosalee are mobbed in the car by zombies, Baron Samedi lures Nick into a trap, drugs him and seals him in a coffin, to be smuggled out of the country by Prince Eric.
  • Evil Laugh: The Baron has a doozy that he uses to lure Nick around the docks and into a trap.
  • Gonna Need More X: Confronted with the sheer number of zombies Baron Samedi has in wait, the gang realise they didn't make nearly enough antidote.
  • Lured into a Trap:
    • The zombie case leads the Grimm Gang to the port, where Nick is separated and lured into chasing Baron Samedi into a shipping container where he's dosed with zombie juice and packed up to be flown to Vienna.
    • Frau Pech thinks she's Out-Gambitted Stephania by drugging and switching appearances with Adalind, so that Stefania's people kill her by mistake to protect the deal. Turns out this is exactly what Stefania expected her to do, and she ends up with her heart cut out to restore Adalind's power.
Pech!Adalind: Frau Pech scares me. Can you really get rid of her?
Stephania: I've known Frau Pech a long time. She's not stupid. Hmm. She will anticipate our moves. If she suspects we're working against her, she will kill us before we know it. It is imperative that we succeed. We need her heart.
    Pech!Adalind: Why?
Stephania: Because we cannot restore your powers without the heart of a hexenbiest. And it must be cut out of her while it's still beating.
Pech!Adalind: Okay. So, how are we going to do that?
Stephania: I will tell Frau Pech that I have found a wealthy buyer for your child, and I plan to betray you, but I will need her help to do so. She will come here, and I will explain how it will be done.
Pech!Adalind: Do you think she'll believe you?
Stephania: If she thinks she's tricking us, she will.
Pech!Adalind: So, how do you plan to kill her?
Stephania: While I am telling her how she could convince you she has found a way to restore your powers, one of my sons will slip up behind her and wrap a cord around her neck.
Pech!Adalind: Do you really think that will work?
Stephania: We'll find out. [Stephania's son garrottes Pech from behind]
  • No Ontological Inertia: Adalind returns to her own form and wakes from her drugged sleep as soon as Frau Pesch dies.
  • Oh, Crap!: Monroe and Rosalee, when the zombified man Nick and Hank brought in starts to wake up in the "rage" stage of the process while they're still working on the antidote.
Monroe: Look, man, I don't wanna hurt you, but if you hurt me-! [Man kicks him]
  • Properly Paranoid:
Nick: I don't know. I just get the feeling this guy is playing us. I mean, the recorded phone call, the stuff in the trunk. I saw him at the hospital and the first crime scene? And why kidnap a tow truck driver and dump his car here? [Beat] I don't know, maybe I'm just over-thinking it.
  • Shout-Out: When Frau Pech is killed by Stefania, Adalind says, "Ding, dong, the witch is dead!"
  • Title Drop: When Nick is zombified and in a steel coffin, Eric says the title, then the page quote, over him.
  • To Be Continued: Continues the show's tradition of sarcastic cards of this type. This one adds "Come on, you knew this was coming."
  • Your Mom: Eric lays one on Sean, while managing to blame it on his mother.
Eric: It's true that mom was never very fond of your hexenbiest whore of a mother who stole our father's heart. Her words, not mine.
