All three of the Murphy kids are in trouble and are spending the day making restitution for their wrongdoing: Maureen by working in the church with Father Pat, Bill by being driven to the police station where he inadvertently got Fuck School as a reward from the evidence room, and Kevin by working a day in Smokey's truck.
Tropes:
- Almighty Mom: The opening of the episode is Frank yelling at his kids and getting off the phone after having talked to a neighborhood mother about why her son had been able to watch porn screened by Bill at the Murphy house. The kids start laughing about a penis being projected on Frank's head during the incident which Frank is unable to deal with. Then Sue abruptly explodes, and the kids shut up instantly. Frank asks why the kids are scared of Sue but not of him when he's the one who yells about everything, never thinking that their lack of response to his yelling could be because he yells about everything.
- Big "NO!": Frank reacts this way to learning that Bill has seen him and Sue having sex.
- Call-Back: Bill is forced to reveal to his father that he saw him and his mother having sex last year.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Father Pat drinks at the local bowling alley after his difficult conversation with the other members of the church and Maureen.
- Expy: Dots, the video game in the bowling alley, is a reference to Pong, which had released in 1972 as one of the first commercially successful video games. This is the first (and only) video game reference in the series.
- Jerkass Has a Point: One of the cops who let Bill and his friends get a dirty movie points out that Bill turning out right isn't their job, but Frank's.Cop: Your job was to make sure your kid turned out right and followed the law. Clearly you failed at that or he wouldn't have gotten arrested and then sent to us. You're his father, act like it for Christ's sake.
- Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Frank asks Bill to never reveal to Sue the fact that he saw the two of them having sex.
- Pedophile Priest: Father Pat's predecessor, Father Brown, is all but stated to have molested Jimmy.Father Pat: Father Brown has been transferred to Albuquerque. He felt in a less populated state it might help curb some of his, cravings.
- Religion Is Wrong: Maureen points out the many contradictions in Christianity when she is sent to Father Pat for her interest in the occult.
- Scary Black Man: Kevin begs his father to not let Smokey take him for the day because Smokey scares him.Smokey: Get in my candy wagon! We're going to Hell!
- Self-Applied Nickname: Smokey orders Kevin to call him "Black God" while riding in his truck.
- The Talk, Awkward type: Frank tries to give this to Bill under instructions from Sue after his porn-screening incident. Frank discovers that his son knows a lot about sex from the first season, when he was trapped under the bed while Frank and Sue had make-up sex. Frank's response is enough to scare the birds out of the trees.
- It's also revealed that he never actually had The Talk with Kevin.
- Frank's own talk with his dad partially explains why Frank has difficulty doing it with his sons.Big Bill: (while fixing the kitchen sink) Women are the devil. Don't ever touch yourself. And now quit bugging me and hand me that fucking monkey wrench before I hit you with it.
