NOTICE: This is a Recap page, so all spoilers will be left unmarked, per wiki policy. Read ahead only with caution! You Have Been Warned.

Last time on Death Battle, the Ninja Turtles battled to find the best of the team, and good ol' Leo used cunning strategy and swordplay to come out on top. But his ordeal is not over yet; he must now face his most powerful imitator

Zitz: Zitz was computer engineered as one of 3 ultimate amphibian warriors in a gladiatorial video game reality show called Battle Toads. This opened up a gateway to another galaxy, and every time the game was played, the galaxy became the Battletoad arena for their war against the Dark Queen.

Zitz leads the Battletoad team with a strategic but laid-back attitude. He prefers an Attack! Attack! Attack! stlye and can shapeshift parts of his body into whatever he needs to fight with. Unlike his teammates, Zitz has used his inventing prowess to technologically advance his body to be able to use drills, saws, spikes, and bulldozer-like walls.

Despite having almost no combat training, Zitz as a character has managed to power through some of the hardest video games of all time.

Leonardo: Though his abilities were covered in the last episode, there's still more to him. Leonardo has trained in Bushido and Ninjitsu all his life, shaping his mind to master close combat and stealth. Leonardo is skilled in the use of his environment to outmaneuver and outsmart his opponent.

Again, Leonardo wields two ninjato swords, short and straight katana-like weapons used for quick strikes that is actually not based on any real life weapon. While he is almost never seen without his brothers, he has proved himself capable as an individual.

After an ad from Go Daddy, IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!

Zitz is walking along before Leonardo pops out of a manhole that leads to the sewer.

FIGHT!

Zits goes in quick, pummeling Leonardo with powerful blows, and though Leonardo is rapid to get back on his feet, the beating continues. Leonardo briefly gets in a couple hits before Zitz turns into/surrounds himself with a teardrop-shaped piece of metal, which Leonardo attacks to no effect before jumping down the manhole.

In the sewers, Leonardo uses the dark passageways to outflank Leonardo and get in several hit and runs attacks, which frustrates Zitz to the point of letting loose on the sewer walls. Leonardo leaps from the water of the sewers and cuts Zitz in half.

K.O.!

The hosts explain that while he was a powerhouse in a direct confrontation, the untrained Zitz was unable to counter Leonardo's ninja skills. The hosts conclude that of all the Battletoads, Zitz stood the best chance to defeat Leonardo (due to this advanced weapons), but in the end, it wasn't enough. And whilst the Battletoads have overcome enormous odds with the sheer difficulty of their game, the TMNT have bested similar situations.

Boomstick: In the end, Zitz just needed to pull himself together.
Wiz: The winner is Leonardo!
Boomstick: Again!

Next time on Death Battle...

Zitz vs. Leonardo contains examples of:

  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Zitz is cut in half by Leonardo when the battle is over.
  • Nintendo Hard: Invoked. Wiz points out that in the Animated Adaptation, which they are including as canon, the legendary difficulty of the Battletoads videogames is canonical, due to the premise being that the Toads are human programmers who created the worlds seen in the games and then found their creations come to life.
  • Rock Beats Laser: Leonardo defeats Zitz with only his sword, compared to the technological weapons like drills, chainsaws and piledrivers that the Battletoad can morph his limbs into.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: Like all the Battletoads, Zitz is able to morph his body into weaponry, ranging from cartoonishly enlarging his fist or morphing a webbed foot into a toony oversized boot to sprouting enormous ram horns for a headbutt or changing his limbs into drills, chainsaws, and bulldozer blades on piledrivers.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Zitz is explicitly described as stronger than Leonardo, but far less skilled in actually fighting. As a result, the turtle is able to overcome the toad with superior tactics.
