The mysterious, rain-based super hero known as 'The Drizzle' becomes the newest hero in town...or at least that's what Master Shake spends the episode trying to accomplish. To that end, he steals three barrels of nuclear waste in the hope of gaining superpowers.
Tropes:
- Attention Whore: The whole reason Shake becomes the Drizzle. In a vain attempt to save the city toward the end of the episode, Shake somehow manages to burn it down instead. Afterward, he's only concerned with finding out if he got on TV.Shake: Look, we must keep my secret identity a secret. And that's what sucks about a secret identity. I will never get the credit that I deserve for the attention grabbing things that I do.
- Bat Signal: Shake gives Frylock and Meatwad a pair of 'Drizzle-Phones' to contact the super hero for free...but only for the first month of service.
- Cheap Costume: Shake's reaction when he finally gets a load of the Drizzle's costume.
- Didn't Think This Through: Basically Master Shake's entire plan is poorly thought out, especially splashing himself with toxic waste.
- Credits Gag: Instead of the regular end credits music, we get an original song by Schoolly D about the Drizzle.
- Freak Lab Accident: Lampshaded when Shake tries to gain superpowers using barrels of toxic waste. First, he tries to get some worms to eat the waste before biting him. This doesn't work, so he dumps a spoonful of the waste over his head, shouting, "Oh, no! A horrible accident!". This doesn't work, either.
- Glad I Thought of It: Meatwad suggests the Drizzle should become "the Fume" after the eradiated Shake starts leaking green fumes. Shake rejects the idea before the next scene shows him on the phone trying to change all his Drizzle merchandise to the Fume.
- Holding Both Sides of the Conversation: Shake does this while on the phone with Frylock in an effort to seem as if he and the Drizzle are different people. It goes about as well as you would imagine.
- Knew It All Along: When it starts raining at the end of the episode, Shake, who promised rain earlier, is quick to gloat. His moment of glory is quickly ruined by Meatwad, who holds up a mirror, which finally informs Shake just how horribly he's mutated.
- "No. Just… No" Reaction: Frylock's reaction to seeing Shake burning down the city on TV.Frylock: Uh-uh, Shake. You messed up this time.
- No OSHA Compliance: The barrels of toxic waste Shake stole were from a storage facility... which was an aquatic reserve. The image shown on the computer suggests they were just floating in the river.
- Prank Call: Meatwad and Frylock try to prank Shake with the 'Prince Albert in a can' joke, but Meatwad messes it up by saying 'Fat Albert' instead. Humorously, Shake takes it as an actual call for help from a concerned citizen.
- Radiation-Induced Superpowers: Subverted in humorous fashion. Master Shake exposes himself to toxic waste that, instead of giving him superpowers, causes him to slowly melt.
- Secret Identity: Parodied. It's fairly obvious from the opening scene that Shake is the Drizzle, with Shake himself letting it slip a few times during the episode. He does his best to convince everyone otherwise. He finally confesses at the end and is honestly shocked that Frylock and Meatwad already know.
- Sidekick: Meatwad tries to be this to the Drizzle as Mr. Mister, whose powers revolve around cleaning products. Shake, unsurprisingly, isn't too enthusiastic about the proposition.
- Stunned Silence: Meatwad's reaction to the massive tail...thing growing out of Shake. He even starts poking it! Leads to an "Oh, crap!" moment from Shake when he finally notices it.
- Superhero: The Drizzle obviously counts as this... at least in Master Shake's mind.
- Superhero Origin: Parodied. Shake tells Frylock that the Drizzle got his rain manipulation powers by being bitten by a "thirsty worm in a science lab accident" as a kid. Frylock, who calls the origin "amazingly lame", counters that the worm should have instead given the Drizzle burrowing powers, to which Shake stammers that the Drizzle can do that as well.
- Toxic Waste Can Do Anything: Subverted in humorous fashion. This is what Master Shake tries doing, but the realization that toxic waste doesn't grant superpowers like in the comics occurs when he only accomplishes mutating himself in horrific fashion. The radioactive waste he pours on himself first causes his skull to cave in before he grows a freakish tail... thing. By the end of the episode, he is a mere puddle.
- Weather Manipulation: The Drizzle's power is to make it rain "sheets and sheets," according to Shake. It's also his only power apparently. Meatwad points out the Drizzle thus wouldn't be a deterrent to even low-level crime.
- You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Subverted. This is one of the few times Dr. Weird calls Steve by his name and doesn't say "GENTLEMEN". When we cut to his lab, we see that a snake is on his head, and he looks anxious as he asks Steve to... "AGITATE THE HELL OUT OF THIS SNAKE!!!"
