Basic Trope: A nonhuman character with an unusual method of (usually sexual) stimulation.
- Straight: Alice the Green Skinned Space Catgirl gets aroused and blushes furiously whenever someone strokes her tail.
- Exaggerated:
- Every point on Alice's body is an erogenous zone.
- Just touching the tail is enough to bring Alice to orgasm.
- Downplayed: While it’s mildly pleasant, stroking Alice’s tail does not result in sexual or otherwise ecstatic pleasure.
- Justified: The tails of Alice's species are already very sensitive for other reasons: this is just a natural extension of this.
- Inverted:
- The Reverse Scale on Alice the dragon acts as an immediate Berserk Button when pressed.
- Alice the lizardwoman's breasts completely lack any sensitivity. To her, human women have Fantastic Arousal.
- Alice the human is aroused when somebody touches her hands, arms, nose and ears.
- Subverted: Bob stares at Alice’s tail curiously, and starts petting it. Alice then turns to him, and looks at him in confusion as he backs off sheepishly.
- Alice's plumes are too sensitive to qualify as erogenous in the same way that eyeballs are too sensitive. While technically sensitive there is no way to touch it that feels good except perhaps removing something painful caught in them.
- Double Subverted: “…I didn’t say stop.”
- Parodied:
- Alice’s tail is treated like masturbation; complete with being told she’ll go blind if she keep touching it, being mistaken for self-petting, and Breaking In Old Habits.
- Alice is a robot girl, and has an On button that works like this.
- Zig Zagged: The tails of Alice’s species can be erogenous, but it’s far from universal: it’s treated as a fetish or kink, like foot-fetishism in humans.
- Alien formats vary. Sometimes they have additional zones of sensitivity on exotic parts, othertimes the expected regions don't, and some despite others lack any sensitivity.
- Averted: No Hugging, No Kissing, hence no-one gets aroused, human or otherwise.
- Nobody shows signs of sensitivity to tail touching or even suggests that it could be a thing.
- Enforced: The Fandom for the show, disappointed that Alice’s tail doesn’t seem to work that way, writes it into Fanon.
- Lampshaded: “Don't touch the taaa- OH MY!~ Touch the tail, touch the tail!”
- " Well this just redefines the term 'Heavy Petting!'. "
- Invoked:
- A line of Sexbots are designed with features like this in mind.
- Alice asks Bob to touch her tail as part of foreplay
- Exploited: Bob asks where the erogenous zones are on an alien, in order to better incapacitate it with furious hammer blows to the mentioned locations.
- Defied: “I’m not sure what’s worse: the fact that you thought that horns made of dead keratin would be an erogenous zone, or that you thought I’d let you touch them if they were erogenous…”
- Prudish (or practical) genetic engineers specifically change the design to prevent tails from being too sensitive.
- Discussed: “Captain! Anywhere on this alien I shouldn’t touch unless I’ve got a hot date tonight?“
- Conversed: “She’s turned on by touching her tail? That’ll make the fanboys happy.”
- Implied: Bob is looking an alien karma sutra, and suddenly tilts his head quizzically and says “So THAT’S what the tails are for…”
- Deconstructed: Bob quizzically touching Alice’s tail results in sexual harassment charges, a sex-offender notice and a furious Alice, who feels she’s now unfit for marriage.
- Reconstructed: After he does some furious apologizing and makes it known that it was a legitimate mistake, Alice doesn’t press charges on Bob and asks him to be careful when putting his hands on unknown species.
- Played For Laughs: Bob touches Alice’s tail. She blushes, and then immediately swings at Dave who was doing something complete different.
- Played For Drama: Alice’s tail is stroked ever-so-gently and ever-so-creepily in a I Have You Now, My Pretty scene.
