Alien

Animorphs

  • All Assorted Animorphs AUs: In "What if they saved Jake's family?", the Animorphs come up with a plan to get Tom's Yeerk to leave his host, then Tom crushes the Yeerk in his fist as soon as it exits his ear. A few years later, Rachel would do the same thing in How I Live Now by the same author.

Avatar

Avatar: The Last Airbender / The Legend of Korra

Barbie

  • In Sam & Mickey's Oscar-spoofing "Award Show," Barbie expresses frustration that since her Finding Nemo-inspired porno didn't qualify for any Doll Actor's Guild Awards, she won't get to sing "Touch My Boat" live at the ceremony, and spitefully hijacks the In Memoriam sequence to play the original clip. After "I'm Just Ken" received a Best Original Song Oscar nomination, Ryan Gosling and his living Ken chorus fulfilled the thought of Mattel dolls singing live at an award show.

Buffyverse

Calvin and Hobbes

  • Rupert and Earl's crew from Calvin & Hobbes: The Series love peanut butter milkshakes. In 2012, Denny's introduced a peanut milkshake as part of a promotion.
    • Calvin calls Harley Quinn "Hardly Quinn".
    • The film Free Birds has the same premise as "Calvin, Hobbes, and the Pilgrims".
    • Two for "Wild Movie":
      • One of Calvin's ideas for a movie is Tornado Sharks, which is almost exactly what the 2013 Made-for-TV Movie Sharknado is about.
      • Also, the sequel's name, as proposed by Calvin, is Tornado Sharks 2: I Think Things Just Got a Little Windier. The sequel to Sharknado was named the equally stupid Sharknado 2: The Second One.

Castlevania

Crossover

  • The AMV Anime Academy Heroes had Edward Elric piloting a Gundam. Then, the director of Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) went on to direct Gundam 00.
  • In the Massive Multiplayer Crossover fanfic Be Wherever You Are, a humanized Arthur Read is depicted as a college professor teaching at Rutgers, the university Ruby and Sapphire's granddaughter Hope is currently attending. Six months after the fanfic was first published, the Distant Finale of Arthur aired, and one of the characters was actually shown to be a college professor (though it's Buster who has the job, not Arthur).
  • D Reincarnation is about the Devil-Fruit users from One Piece reincarnated as ponies as My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, with Luffy reincarnating as Pinkie Pie. This becomes hilarious in the Wano arc of One Piece where Luffy's Awaken Devil Fruit power gives him Toon Physics akin to what Pinkie uses.
  • Back in 2001, an author named Kanius did Digimon Fusion (Digimon characters play the roles of DBZ) and is doing a remake called Digimon Fusion Kai around 2010. Comes 2013, that the english version of Digimon Xros Wars is titled 'Digimon Fusion'.
  • In The Great Starship Battle, Chewbacca dies and is later resurrected. In 2014, the year after the story was written, the Star Wars Expanded Universe was rebranded as Star Wars Legends and declared to be non-canon. This meant that Chewbacca's death in the novel Vector Prime was essentially undone and he subsequently appeared alive and well in the Sequel Trilogy.
  • From the Halloween Unspectacular series:
    • In the first chapter of the first collection, Danny, Sam, and Tucker express their belief that E350 is going to fail to complete his self-imposed Halloween challenge (to do one chapter every day of October). Considering that there ultimately ended up being ten collections in the Halloween Unspectacular series, this comes off as extra hilarious.
    • One of the "Twenty Terrible Theories" in HU6 is that Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond, with E350 being exasperated by it. Two years later, this theory was confirmed by canon.
    • The main villains of HU3 are the Witchfinder-Generals, who are shown to go after any magic, regardless of the harm destroying it will cause. E350 would later start writing fics for The Owl House, which revealed that main villain Emperor Belos is a witch hunter who wants to wipe out the Boiling Isles simply because they use magic, regardless of the harm it would cause. Building on this, he reveals that he actually wants to be called a Witch-Hunter General.
  • In chapter 25 of the Love Live! / Jojos Bizarre Adventure crossover Honoka's Bizarre Adventure, Umi had updated the training chart from the episode "No 'Senpai' Allowed" to include an hour and a half of Stand sparring. The sequel to the anime, Love Live! Sunshine!!, reveals that Dia had acquired the same training chart Umi that made so Aquors can use it to prepare for Love Live. Unless Aquors also has Stand Users, the new group of idols is going to be really confused.
  • In Chapter 77 of Hottie 3: The Best Fan Fic in the World, which involved fusion, all three Crystal Gems fused into one being. A few months later, the Steven Universe episode "Giant Woman" aired on TV and established that Gems have the ability to fuse with others. Even better, they would fuse together for real into Alexandrite in another episode, and it was revealed late in the first season that Garnet is a fusion herself.
  • Hunters of Justice (The DCU & RWBY):
    • The Condiment King who appears in the story is a Composite Character between his comic book name and his original DCAU incarnation, and a version of Condiment King exactly like that debuted in Harley Quinn (2019) a few months later.
    • On chapter 40, the Bat-family faces Clayface, King Shark, Dr. Psycho, and a brainwashed Ren and Jaune, who were being controlled by Poison Ivy. A few weeks later, also on the Harley Queen series, Dr. Psycho enhances his powers and mind controls Clayface, King Shark and Poison Ivy.
    • The existence of this story itself now that there'll be an actual RWBY/Justice League crossover in April 2021.
  • Moxxie Morningstar (Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss): The fic's premise revolves around Moxxie being raised as a prince of the Morningstars (the most wealthy and powerful family in Hell), eventually leaving, and his adopted father forcing him to return to the family. A couple years later, the episode "Exes and Oohs" would reveal that Moxxie's canonical backstory involves him growing up in and eventually leaving an influential mafia family in the Greed ring, while the episode's plot involves his biological father trying to force Moxxie to go home.
  • Necessary to Win (Girls und Panzer & Saki): In Chapter 7, Yukari infiltrates Anzio, which, instead of Saunders, is Oarai's first opponent. In the Anzio OVA, she ends up infiltrating Anzio as well, but unlike in the fic, doesn't get caught.
  • The Owl and The Frog
    • "Chapter 33: Maddie, Marcy and Luz" reveals that a wind glyph was created by Sheresade when she visited the Boiling Isles and met Philip Wittebane. " In Them's the Breaks, Kid" (which aired a few weeks after the chapter's publishing), Luz discovers a glyph combo for wind.
    • Shuffollower complained in a review for Thomas Holmes' canonized story "Premonition" that with how slowly the story is updated, it'll likely take ChampionElCid two more years to finish the story after Arc 5 was completed. Champion outright confirms this in the author's notes at the end of "Froggy Little Christmas".
  • Rising of the Sleeping Soldier (Castlevania (2017) & The Rising of the Shield Hero): When Alucard explains what he world was like to Ren, Itsuki and Motoyasu, Motoyasu thinks that Alucard's friends Trevor and Sypha are his harem, only for Alucard to tell him that they are both men just to mess with him. This leads to Motoyasu thinking that he's gay. Both Word of Gay and Season 3 of the show confirms that Alucard's canon counterpart is bisexual.
  • The Search for Victory is a crossover between the Stargate-verse and the Marvel Cinematic Universe written in 2014 (the author specifically states that this continuity disregards the events of Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)). One element of this crossover features Carol Danvers as a pilot in the F-302 program, years before Captain Marvel (2019) would introduce the MCU Carol Danvers as a test pilot for a government program using alien technology before she received her powers.
  • Shinnen New Year: Somewhat an inversion of ascended fanon. The English dub version of Guilty Crown in the final episode's epilogue, the casts last words are "To the New Year!", then co-authors are doing this mega crossover fanfic based on New Years Eve.
    • Then plays straight in other parts. In Chapter 8, Captain Ginyu mentions his thanks of Freeza getting back his own body back. I wonder what happened officially in Dragon Ball Super?
    • Chapter 1 has Kirito mention himself being Samurai Jack, alongside the Minions of Set appears and Arago's super form looks like Aku. Then, Adult Swim renews the cartoon for 2016.
    • Chapter 32 shows the Powerpuff Girls (2016 versions) siding with the Green Lanterns (John Stewart, Razer, and Aya). Promos of The Powerpuff Girls (2016) show the girls creating similar constructs.
  • Time Anomaly;
    • During Tony and Steve's time in the past, the two bond with the Williams family (Doctor Who). When Avengers: Endgame aired, one of the earliest scenes was Tony bonding with Nebula, played by Karen Gillan.
    • Since this fic was written, the MCU version of Kang the Conqueror has been introduced in Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, both of which established that there are multiple alternate versions of Kang in existence in the multiverse. With this in mind, where the Kangs depicted in the MCU have been considered the most dangerous ones, such as He Who Remains controlling time to allegedly stop the creation of his worse variants and the Conqueror believing that he has to destroy his counterparts to stop their own devastation, it's tempting to theorise that the Kang depicted here is basically the dumb counterpart, who thinks he's a genius but doesn't know enough to realise that his plans, methods and technology are flawed at best.
  • An Dragon Ball Z and Anne Frank crossover fanfic, Until the End of Time, had Adolf Hitler going Super Saiyan. Cue The Legend of Koizumi and the "Legendary Super Aryan".
  • A Very Scary Thought (incomplete, author Died During Production): Before his death, Jim Bader was going to make Ranma and Nabiki’s next child be an Expy of Erza, this time with Nabiki as the Fama and Ranma as the Ouma. When Erza’s mother Irene Belserion is finally revealed, she is a voluptuous redhead who used to be known as the Dragon Empress. To be more specific, Ranma’s ability comes from forming a pact with five Elemental Dragons.
  • The now-deleted RWBYverse: Clash of Heroes crossover had Ben Tennyson and Yang Xiao Long as a couple and they got along pretty well. Then Volume 3 of RWBY arrived and Ben's (post-timeskip) voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, became the voice of Mercury Black and he and Yang are enemies.
  • The training Ranma gave Vegeta in Human Saiyajin is pretty much the same training given to him by Whis is Dragon Ball Super. I.e showing him how to overcome the DBZ universe’s Unskilled, but Strong approach to martial arts by training him how to better control his ki and body.
  • In the Splatoon/Total Drama crossover, Three Stays Fresher, since the Squid Sisters are a trio, there are three way Splatfests, with each girl championing a team. Come Splatoon 3 and three way splatfests (as well as a three person idol group) are introduced. The author admitted to actually being blown away by this, admitting that they never thought it would happen for real.
  • The The Infinite Loops has several.
    • Naruto Loops: Even in the original Innortal loops, Naruto and Kurama manage to become friends as time goes on. Fast forward to the later arcs in the Manga, where they actually do manage to become something resembling friends. (Albeit, Kurama is a bit of a Tsundere about it...)
    • One of the first Kirby loopers was Marx, who, at the time he began looping, was currently still dead. Cue Kirby Star Allies, which not only revived Marx, but also had him do a Heel–Face Turn, much like he had in the loops.
    • In the Doki Doki Literature Club! Loops, Monika and Natsuki bet that if sexy Bowser became a meme, they'd have to become bad Sonic OCs for a Loop. At the time, it was obviously not going to happen due to the obvious niches a sexy Bowser could be... And then Bowsette happened and the two had to follow through.
    • In one Five Nights at Freddy's loop, Mike stops the owners of the restaurant from putting the animatronics in 80s themed outfits. Then comes Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, which has the very 80s themed Glamrocks. Seems like the owners didn't listen.
    • One Xenoblade Chronicles 2 snip reveals that Rex decided to date both the Aegis girls as well as Nia. Come Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and it turns out that's exactly what he ended up doing in canon. With at least one child per girl, as well.
  • In the Mega Man and Pokémon crossover Megamon, Mega Man is transformed into a Vaporeon. The two of them would eventually be the unlockable characters in Super Smash Land.

Danganronpa

  • Despair's Last Resort
    • The author notes that Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls also happens to have a character named Masaru, and learned of Masaru Daimon's name after giving her Masaru his name. The fic started in May 2014, and DRAE came out in September of that year.
    • This fic has an Ultimate Assassin who turns out to be one of the good guys. In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, it's revealed in the midgame Maki's true identity is the Ultimate Assassin, and she's one of the good guys. Even better yet, Shuuya nearly kills Saemi in revenge for Miyako's Heroic Suicide (and kills her during her execution to prevent her from going out on her own terms). Maki tries to kill Kokichi (the supposed mastermind at the time) after he abducts Kaito, and later offers to kill the real mastermind, Tsumugi.

DEATH BATTLE!

The DCU

  • In early 00's fanfiction A Force of Four, Power Girl tells her father fitted her ship with a simulation because they didn't know enough about suspended animation... a technology which has played a role in every Kara's canon origin written since.
  • The Golden Boys Last Temptation: In this 2001 fanfic, a demonic figure tries to tempt Kara Zor-El by showing her several dark timelines, including one universe called New Earth where her cousin died and she never existed. Three years later, DC would publish The Supergirl from Krypton (2004), introducing Kara to New Earth continuity.
  • The Supergirl story Hellsister Trilogy provides several moments of this kind:
    • Kara Zor-El and Dev-Em become lovers. Flash-forward several years and Dev-Em is one of her enemies in the main universe and the DCEU.
    • An alternate universe Saturn Girl is brunette, right like Supergirl (2015)'s Imra Ardeen.
    • Kara having a Legionnaire lover who wants her to move to the 31st century with him, several years before the Justice League Unlimited episode where Kara fell in love with Brainiac 5 and moved to the Legion of Super-Heroes future.
    • Satan Girl planning to force entire worlds to worship her like a goddess several years before Supergirl's Sterling Gates' run reimagined the character like a death and love alien goddess.
    • A Kryptonian doppelganger of a hero of the House of El plus Mordru plus the Legion of Super-Villains come together to destroy the Legion? And the Supergirl of Earth-One gets to do some fighting? It sounds like the plot of Final Crisis tie-in Legion of 3 Worlds, which came out nine years later, isn't it? Compounded by the fact Darkseid was the next Big Bad.
    • Kara isn't sure what she wants to join the League. A few years later, Supergirl would join the Justice League in the comics.
  • Kara of Rokyn (Supergirl): During a scene, Superman's uncle mutters he'd look stupid in a pair of trunks, years before the "Trunks: Yay or Nay?" arguments among Superman fans.
  • In Superman of 2499: The Great Confrontation, Supergirl has a descendant called "Katherine", long before Catherine Grant became a personal nemesis in the comics.

The Fairly OddParents!

Fate/Grand Order

  • Chapter 4 of Chaldea Secrets has Ritsuka "defeating" a female Kirschtaria Wodime by revealing that he is a mediocre mage, knowing her pride will make her teach him to be a better mage and eventually get her to fall in love with him. The Olympus Chapter of the game reveals that not only was Kirschtaria Good All Along (albeit an Anti-Villain variant) but that his plan involved elevating humans, including the protagonist, into gods, which paralleled female Wodime's action in the fanfic.

Final Fantasy

  • A Final Fantasy XIII post-game fanfic written in June 2010 called New Dawn has Lightning, feeling empty and unfulfilled though happy her friends and family are doing well, go off on her own as if beckoned to go on another journey. Late that year, the Episode One novellas were released and the next month after, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is announced. What do they portray? Lightning, feeling empty and unfulfilled though happy her friends and family are doing well, go off on her own as if beckoned to go on another journey.

Fire Emblem

  • A common Fandom-Specific Plot in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is to have Dimitri and Claude, whose nations bear no ill will toward each other, join forces to put a stop to Edelgard's empire, who attacks both nations in the war that makes up the second half of the game. While such a team-up never comes to pass in Three Houses due to the lords all dealing with their own personal issues, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes does feature two of the three leaders joining forces: Claude and Edelgard, who put aside their hostilities after learning they both have grievances with the Church of Seiros, whose army has integrated itself into Dimitri's kingdom due to Faerghus' long-standing support of the church.

Fusion Fic

Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire

  • The Raven's Plan:
    • Sansa's friendly attitude towards Dany comes off as this considering the tension between the two in Season 8.
    • That a Peggy Sue was needed to stop the Long Night in this fic is this after Arya single-handedly averting the Long Night by killing the Night King in canon. Maybe the fact that Arya died fighting Euron in the backstory of the fic had something to do with the difference in outcomes between canon and the fic?
    • Repeatedly throughout the story, people react with disgust to finding out that Jon and Dany are in a relationship despite being related, until others point out that they're Targaryens, so that makes it okay. When this big Internal Reveal comes about in canon, no one other than Varys even acknowledges the incest aspect, and it's quickly brushed off when he brings it up.
    • Jon accepting the throne considering his adamant refusal in the show.
    • There is something darkly amusing about Jaime's angst over killing Cersei considering he died with his arms wrapped lovingly around her in the show.
    • Also amusing is that, in The Raven's Plan, Jaime killed the Mountain before killing Cersei, and the Hound went down fighting Euron, whereas in the show, it was Jaime who was killed by Euron and the Hound who killed the Mountain.
    • Bran's adamant acknowledgement that Jon is their King considering in the end of the TV series, he became the King of Westeros.
    • Edmure Tully is presented as having become much more dangerous and embittered after everything he went through. His final appearance in canon shows that even after everything, he's still as much an idiot and wimp as he ever was.
    • Yara and Theon's reunion sees her welcoming him back warmly, then kicking him in the balls to remind him what he's regained. In canon, their reunion when he rescues her from Euron involves her headbutting him before embracing him.
  • The King Nobody Wanted and Let the Galaxy Burn both have Targaryens or their allies having visions of the White Walkers invasion. The pilot of House of the Dragon says that Aegon the Conqueror himself had such a vision and suggests it motivated many of his actions and those of his descendants.

Glee

  • The Glee Gender Flip story A Different Direction has Faith (female!Finn) complaining about Lebron James leaving the Cavaliers in 2010; a few months later, Lebron would return to Cleveland.

Gundam

  • Gundam Abridged:
    • From Episode 2, Chibodee Crocket, voiced by Takahata 101 using a Southern accent, tells a rambling story starting with the phrase "I ever tell you that story 'bout my best friend?" Later, Taka would play Ellis in Team Four Star's Left 4 Dead 2 Let's Play.
    • In Episode 4, Taka voices the commissioner using the same voice he would later use for Dartz on Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series.

Harry Potter

  • Released in 1999, Love Is proposed the notion that Snape loved Lily, even mentioning that the Mauraders almost turned him into a werewolf. Come Book 7, and it reveals that Snape loved Lily.
  • Tara Gilesbie, author of My Immortal, predicted in an author's note before Deathly Hallows came out that Harry would have to let himself die in order to defeat Voldemort, because he himself is a Horcrux. Fast forward to when the book came out, and she was right! A lot of people had the same idea, to be fair, but the fact that Tara of all people figured it out is hilarious.

House

  • In I Am Not The Walrus, Chase inadvertently admits furries make him nervous, which House finds hilarious, sarcastically asking him if he was "ravaged by a herd of My Little Ponies". This was written before My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic existed.

Invader Zim

  • The New Adventures of Invader Zim has a couple of examples:
    • The first chapter, written prior to the release of the first issue of the Invader Zim continuation comic, features Dib almost getting into a dogfight with Zim with Tak's ship, only to realize that he doesn't know how to operate the ship's weapons, leading to Zim curb-stomping him. In Issue 2 of the comic, Dib is facing down Zim in a spaceship dogfight, and realizes he doesn't know how to use the weapons... and Zim tells him how, leading to Zim being curb-stomped.
    • Episode 4 of Season 1 has, as one of MIMI's hallucinations, a Shout-Out to The Shining in the form of a pair of meat children asking her to come play with them forever. This was published in 2015; flash-forward to 2017, and the comic series has a similar joke, wherein Dib (in GIR's body) imagines a bunch of copies of GIR asking him to come play forever.
    • Senior is a Communications Officer on the Massive who has no problem talking back to the Tallest rather than deferring completely to their orders. Then along comes the movie, which features the otherwise unnamed Comms Officer, who keeps trying to call out the Tallest on their Too Dumb to Live actions regarding the Florpus.
    • Episode 4 of Season 1 is loosely based on the unproduced episode "GIR's Big Day", which would later go on to be adapted as the first issue in the quarterly format that the comic series switched to in 2020.

James Bond

  • In so you were never a saint, a fanfic set during Skyfall, Eve comments (several times) on Q's inability to take care of any pets when he suggests getting a cat for himself. Come Spectre, in which Q mentions owning two cats.

Kingdom Hearts

  • The fanfic Harvey Birdman versus Organization XIII has Harvey going to The Castle That Never Was to arrest Xemnas, alleging that his ethereal blades were violating copyright from Star Wars and fails horribly to enforce it. Then, in 2012, Disney buys Lucasfilm.
  • The Old Life Alive Again:
    • Marluxia's Green-Eyed Monster attitude towards Axel makes more sense with Kingdom Hearts Union X revealing that Marluxia and Larxene's Somebodies knew each other in the past.
    • Here, Xigbar somehow managed to manipulate Xemnas into thinking Roxas and Xion's love was getting in the way of the Organization's goal. Come Kingdom Hearts 3, and it's revealed Xigbar was manipulating Xehanort all along.
    • In a side comic in which Roxas repeatedly asks Xemnas to change Organization XIII's name to Organization XIV (mostly because he was feeling that Xion, being Number XIV, was left out), Ansem's Guardian attacks Xemnas. His motive is revealed in Kingdom Hearts 3: being Terra's heart, he was most likely seeing Roxas as Ventus, and figured out Xion as Roxas's motive behind annoying Xemnas with this question, since Roxas was feeling Xion was left out. Knowing Terra's Big Brother Instinct towards Ventus, Guardian most likely wanted Roxas to be happy.

Kung Fu Panda

  • A Different Lesson happens to contain numerous plot points that come across as funny compared to plot points in later stages in the franchise.
    • When Tai Lung is attempting to 'lighten the mood' on the way to Chorh-Gom by helping Tigress and Shifu reconcile, Tigress has this to say: "And since when have you become an expert on entertainment and leisure? Did you take up clowning when I wasn't looking?" No...but at one point in the series, Ping practices clowning. (And now that that image is in your head, just try and keep from imagining Tai Lung doing and saying all the things the goose did when Tigress was sick.)
    • In Chapter 38, Tai Lung's thoughts: "No one needed to know he'd been so caught up in romancing Tigress he might not have noticed if Po had started dressing up in a cheongsam. Oh gods...why did I have to go there? Someone kill me now, please...or at least murder my imagination." Well, it may not be a cheongsam, but we have gotten to see Po dressed as a woman in "Ladies of the Shade". And Tai Lung's reaction is pretty appropriate.
    • On a related note, Song herself being a violet-eyed snow leopardess who is nominally on the side of the bad guys, performs a Heel–Face Turn to help fight her former allies, and has a Ship Tease with Po sounds a lot like Jia.
    • Monkey getting put under Mind Control (with Red Eyes, Take Warning), something which was utterly Played for Drama (and horror) in the fic, becomes a lot funnier after seeing "The Scorpion's Sting".
    • The Big Bad is a dark master of chi who used to be allied with Master Oogway, but was eventually corrupted by his lust for power, leading Oogway to seal him away until he finally made his return centuries later, after Oogway's death. Are we talking about Heian Chao or Kai?
    • The third movie also has a moment where a panda dons Master Flying Rhino's armor (and which Po himself admitted to fantasizing about), and the statues of the Vault of Heroes appearing uncovered and open on the mountain around the stairs... And considering both Heian Chao and Kai are spirits, it's surely the case that Chao was also immune to the Wuxi Finger Hold, which makes Tai Lung warning Po not to use it incredibly prescient. It's a good thing the possibilities he suggested never happened with Kai, isn't it?
Tai Lung: Just what d'you suppose would happen if you used the ultimate chi move on the ultimate master of chi? The least that would happen is it blowing up in your face and doing absolutely nothing. Worse, you might just make him stronger...or allow him to turn it back on you, corrupt you, vaporize you...
    • Another more minor point of amusement: in the author's about me page, he notes that the voice he had in mind for Bao (Po's father in this fanfiction) was Bryan Cranston. Out comes Kung Fu Panda 3, and guess who Po's canon father is voiced by?

The Legend of Zelda

The Loud House

  • A fancomic for The Loud House featured the Loud siblings, over the course of the comic, cosplaying as various different Nickelodeon cartoon stars (Lincoln as several male leads and Leni as Patrick Star for example) but the one that's this trope is Luna. Her cosplay is being stylized to look like Sam Manson, who turns out to share the name and gender of Luna's ultimate crush.

Lucky Star

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • The Battle for New York: Take 2 features numerous real-life actors getting cast in various roles in a pair of In-Universe films based around the events of The Avengers (2012). The story was first published in 2013; as of 2022, several of these actors — specifically Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Keaton (the Vulture), Forest Whitaker (Zuri), and Christian Bale (Gorr the God-Butcher) — have joined the MCU proper.
    • Additionally, Fincher's choice of actor to play Captain America is Jensen Ackles, who would end up playing an Expy of him in The Boys (2019).
  • Tingle:
    • Peter Parker, Yelena Belova and Kate Bishop face the Spot in their first team-up almost a year before trailers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse revealed that the Spot would be the villain in that film.
    • The final chapter has Peter mention how he fought a man in a frog suit, months before the MCU Leap-Frog would ‘officially’ debut in the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ep “Ribbit and Rip It

Marvel Comics

  • Ultimate Sleepwalker: The New Dreams had multiple Take Thats aimed at John Kricfalusi, with one character in particular condemning him as a pretentious hack who constantly insults other animators' work while his own work is utter garbage. As of 2019, this view of Kricfalusi became widespread in real life, particularly after the universally-loathed Cans Without Labels was finally released six years after its due date.
  • In X-Men 1970, Jean Grey leaves the Xavier's Mansion and looks for a teacher job. In the comics, the Xavier's Mansion became a real school one year later.
  • X-Men: The Early Years: The next paragraph was written over one decade before Jean Grey encouraged Iceman to come out.
Bobby Drake was currently in the library, too, thinking and plotting. He owed Hank, and it was going to be the prank of a lifetime. He'd just finished a session with Professor Xavier, who'd explained that the reoccurring dream that Bobby had been having was "a classic fear of abandonment," and not what Hank had told him it symbolized. Now that he actually thought about it, how many ways could you interpret a dream of getting launched into space alone? Hank had told him it symbolized his wanting to explore new frontiers, and the rocket ship had represented a certain part of the male anatomy. He'd then suggested that maybe Bobby should go talk to Jean, because she could introduce him to some nice guys, and then his dream would go away.

Miraculous Ladybug

  • Many Miraculous Ladybug fics where someone else wields the Butterfly Miraculous, such as Nathalie Sancouer in Crimson and Noire or Nathaniel Kurtzberg in Miraculous: Tales of Scarlet Beetle & Ikati Black, go by the name Monarch, base on the Monarch Butterfly. Season 5 would have Hawkmoth changing his villain name to Monarch after acquiring all the Miraculouses save for the Ladybug and Black Cat.
  • The fanfic A Gift of Worms has Cat Noir fusing the Cat and Rabbit Miraculous and becoming a hero named Rabbit Noir. During the very first episode of Season 5, Adrien does indeed fuse the two Miraculous and become Rabbit Noir. Mind that the episode aired two months later the fic ended.
  • Hero Chat has it hinted that Luka is Jagged Stone's illegitimate child and eventually confirmed in the story's version of "Truth" when Jagged finds out that Luka is his son and Anarka hid it from them. A later season 4 episode reveals that both Luka and his twin-sister Juleka are Jagged's children.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • The Dear Sweetie Belle Continuity: "Cutie Mark Crusaders Dream Warriors" has Princess Luna help the CMC fight back against their nightmares. As of season 5, all three of them have received aid from the night princess within their dreams.
  • Dakari-King Mykan always wanted to make a more action-oriented story than Friendship Is Magic, and thus wrote My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic. Come the season 4 finale, suddenly the show he hates actually gets an amazing action sequence that blows any he could make out of the water.
  • Under the Northern Lights: In chapter 30, after seeing through Twilight's evil sorceress charade and realizing that she has a good heart beneath it, Princess Ljufa concludes that Twilight is a villain who, deep down, wants to be good, and decides to convince her to that she doesn't have to be a villain and is actually a good person who deserves to love herself. Twilight finds this absolutely mortifying, since it's pretty obvious that Ljufa cast them as the heroine and villainess of, well, a kids' cartoon, and is especially mortified when Ljufa and her handmaidens pull out instruments and start singing. The humorous part is that this story is old enough to entirely predate the show proper's long track of redeeming villains and assorted antagonists; the only redemption in the show up to that point had been done with a magical rainbow laser, with no speeches or song involved. The scene is quite humorous on its own, but it becomes hilarious in light of how often the main characters ended up following in Ljufa's shoes in time, and how often Twilight herself ended up engaging in the same behaviors that her version in this story found cheesy and embarassing.
This is... this is the "reform the villain speech"! The one that you always give to the mean pony in stories! Like... well, like in a cartoon for... for little fillies! She is trying to reform me!
  • Fallout: Equestria: Snowfall introduces crystal pony unicorns. Crystal pony unicorns appear in My Little Pony: FIENDship Is Magic #1.
  • Discord's New Business: Chapter 13, published in June 2017, revolves around the Cutie Mark Crusaders being aged up and going to Manehattan. A little over two years later, the exact same basic plot — the Crusaders being aged up and going to another town — happened in canon's season 9.

Naruto

  • The first completed Naruto fic on FF.net was a Naruto/Sasuke fic (in fact, many early fics were). It ends with an author note that says "More Naruto fics, I think, are needed". Within six years Naruto would be one of the biggest manga fandoms and is only behind Harry Potter as the fandom with the most fanfics on the site.
  • Son of the Sannin has two of these in relation to the Boruto anime:
    • Naruto and his friends learn to tree-walk and water-walk in the Academy, since the author thought it was a very useful skill, yet basic and easy enough to be taught in the Academy. Later, a Boruto episode that this is also the case in the Academy of the new era.
    • The Chunin Exam Finals has an even bigger example: Naruto, Sasuke and Gaara make it to the final round and are about to have a three-way fight, but Rasa protests and claims that the two Konoha Genin are going to double team his son. In the Boruto adaptation of the movie's Chunin Exams, Boruto (Naruto's son), Sarada (Sasuke's daughter) and Shinki (Gaara's adoptive son) make it to the final round, where they fight in a three-way match, and Boruto and Sarada, the Konoha Genin, end up double teaming Shinki, the Suna Genin.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • The Child of Love: The title of chapter 8 is "You Are Not Alone". Keep in mind that chapter was published at least seven years before the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie was a thing.
  • HERZ: In chapter 4, Asuka calls her daughter Akiko "Aki-chan". Several years later, when Jimmy Wolk wrote The Second Try, he named Shinji and Asuka's daughter "Aki-chan".

Odd Squad

  • The Big Bad of All Mixed Up!, who owns an aquarium as a Family Business, used to be employed with Odd Squad and had the name Ocean when she was an agent. A year after the fanfic was completed, an Odd Squad agent with the same name would appear in Season 2 as a side character, working in the newly-established Creature Care department and being a Friend to All Living Things, but being firmly on the heroes' side and not displaying any villainous tendencies.
  • "Slipping into mathness", which is a more eloquent and odd term for Sanity Slippage in the Odd Squad universe, was called in Patterns of the Past long before it was revealed to be a thing in "Olympia's Day". In Chapter 6, Old Missie explains to Olesya that "Mathness" is when an agent taps into the hidden world of math using only their brain, eliminating the need to go to the Mathroom. Doing so, however, comes at a cost in the form of them being completely consumed by it to the point where they suffer from a loss of sanity. Unlike with Olympia, who was pulled out of her sanity slippage by Dr. O fairly quickly and took a long while to fully slip into mathness, Old Missie explains that some of her agents have gone so far off the deep end that it took Odd Squad Doctors an incredibly long time to pull them out and restore their sanities, and it can only take the tiniest exposure to mathematics for an agent to start losing it.

One Piece

  • Coby's Choice:
    • During the Little Garden arc, Coby finds and eats a Devil Fruit that lets him turn into a Triceratops. In chapter 998 of the manga, Sasaki, a member of the Beast Pirates Flying Six, is revealed to have eaten the Dragon-Dragon Fruit: Model Triceratops. As there is only one of any particular Devil Fruit power (whether as a fruit or already eaten) in existence at a time, it has some interesting implications in how the author will handle it.
    • At the end of the Syrup Village arc, Kaya gives Usopp a good luck kiss before he joins the Straw Hats on their journey. The 2023 live-action series would also have Kaya giving Usopp a Big Damn Kiss.

The Owl House

  • The main premise of The Forbidden Drink is a divergence from "Thanks to Them" wherein Luz drinks the vial of Titan's Blood to keep Belos from getting it, causing her to transform into a half-Titan hybrid. A month after the story was first published, the series finale "Watching and Dreaming" aired, and a main plot point of the episode is Luz being transformed into a half-Titan by the Titan's spirit in order to defeat Belos in the Final Battle.

Pixar

  • The Monsters, Inc. fanfiction series Angela's Pet Monster was published two years before Monsters University. And yet, there's some interesting foreshadowing, including, but not limited to...
    • Randall turning a heart pattern.
    • Randall being nicknamed "Randy".
    • Mike making an offhand reference that scaring was his "past life's dream".

Pokémon

  • The (Edit) War for Ash’s Freedom to not be Betrayed:
    • Arceus briefly ponders introducing an Alolan form for Golem. About a week after the fic's publication, Alolan Golem was revealed.
    • Darkern repeatedly tries to give Ash a Riolu; despite Arceus blocking his initial attempts to do so, Ash does end up with a Riolu during his first six months on the island. Four years after the fanfic was written, Ash really did get a Riolu in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
    • At one point, Darkern claims that all of Ash's adventures end in failure; later, he trashes Alola as a "gym-less reject of a region" and refuses to send Ash there for that reason. Not only did Ash win his first official Pokémon League in Alola, the following series saw Ash facing off against other regional champions and winning.
    • Darkern constantly tries to get Ash to catch a Legendary, only to fail because Arceus stops him (read: Cross hates the idea of Ash having Legendaries, period). In Alola, Ash catches a Meltan that befriended his Rowlet after Rowlet defended Meltan from Team Rocket, and that Meltan later evolves into Melmetal, who is a Mythical Pokémon, much like Arceus. (Mythical Pokémon are the one class above Legendary Pokémon.)
    • Darkern dismisses Farfetch’d and is opposed to Ash having one on his team. Pokémon Sword and Shield introduced a pure Fighting-type regional variant of Farfetch'd with an evolution in Sirfetch’d, boosting its appeal and usefulness... and Ash caught a Galarian Farfetch'd for real in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
    • One of the hipsters that challenges Ash early in the fic has a Gengar. Ash would catch a Gengar himself in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
  • Poké Wars has plenty of cases where Pokémon fight alongside armed humans and in at least one case, use firearms. Now look at what Palworld has to offer.
  • Too Many Ashes was published prior to the publication of any promotional material for Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, resulting in the author guessing what Pokemon Ash would be most likely to have on his Alola team or would work as counterparts to the former. Despite this, the Ash clone representing the Alola main team (Ash 13) shares his Rowlet starter with the canon version of Ash, while the clone with the counterpart Alola team (Ash 14) has a Litten akin to the one Ash actually caught. Additionally, the other Pokemon on Ash 14's team (Popplio, Bounsweet, Charjabug, and Alolan Vulpix), along with Ash 13's Alolan Marowak, are all species his friends at the Pokemon School own.

Pretty Cure

  • Pretty Cure Perfume Preppy:
    • In episode 32, a Spanish Pretty Cure explains that there are other Pretty Cure teams around the world. A few years later, that would become canon.
    • Perfume Preppy's main character is named Chloe. When Smile Pretty Cure! was dubbed as Glitter Force in 2015, one of the dub names revealed was Chloe (but the Chloe in question is Reika/Cure Beauty).

RWBY

  • Weiss Reacts: The fic featured the Humongous Mecha Gurren Lagann as a regular plot element, had Jaune crossdressing for a Saber cosplay and Cinder joining the school as a teacher. Months later, the Atlesian Paladin is unveiled as a regular plot element of Volume 2, Jaune ends up crossdressing to cheer Pyrrha up, and Cinder ends up in Beacon as a student.
    • Similarly, plushies of Weiss are a Running Gag- and one Ensemble Dark Horse, Vivi, is an animated Weiss plushie. Now that Rooster Teeth have actually started selling Weiss plushies....
  • White Sheep: The stoic and esteemed General Ironwood being unable to bring even himself to ask his kingdom's naive teenage girl android about her diary's... mistakenly salacious-sounding account of what she and her new friends did while she was unsupervised among the populace of Vale is already pretty damn funny. But the idea that Ironwood was so disturbed that he couldn't bring himself to talk to Penny gains an extra layer of hilarity when one factors in RWBY canon's later confirmation that Ironwood can enforce inhuman stoicness on himself as a Semblance, and assume that Ironwood couldn't bring himself to talk to Penny even with that.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

  • Cat-Ra: Each season was written without the author having seen any further ahead, leading to some big misjudgements about where the show was going...or being quite prescient.
    • Catra Apologizes a Lot whenever she talks to Adora, when her Heel–Face Turn on the show ended up being doing so for the first time in her life, to anyone.
    • Spinarella and Netossa are repeatedly described as "friends."
    • The physical effects of Adora's shadow powers are uncannily like Horde Prime's possession.
    • While acting like a cat from the First Ones' virus, Catra licks Glimmer's face. Later in the actual show, she licked Glimmer's arm.
    • In "Reunion" Bow's story about the academy has the extra complication of Catra supposedly being his girlfriend, to which Glimmer is quite put out that she couldn't have played the role. Catra even gives a further embellishment that Glimmer had a crush on him too.
    • Monokub himself points out that the false reality at the end of Season 3 bears quite a resemblance to his version of what happens in Catra's mind when she's infected with the First Ones' virus: waking up with no initial memory but quickly thinking the new reality is real, things disappearing with no one else noticing, and finally having to run from a destructive white force obliterating all in its path.

Super Mario World ROM hacks

Oftentimes, ROM hacks will predict mechanics and other stuff in official Mario games. For more specific examples:

Super Sentai/Power Rangers

  • In Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers: The Liveblog, part of the reason why the writer chose Sean in the first act of the arc was that she wanted to have him take part in a Gokaiger-related arc, especially when Alex and Jason would have their own episodes in Power Rangers Super Megaforce later on. About a week after covering Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Power Rangers Samurai, there was an announcement that confirmed Sean's appearance in the final episode of Super Megaforce.
  • Speaking of Super Sentai VS Power Rangers:
    • A case of Rouge Angles of Satin occurs when Miu Sutou's name is misspelled as Mio. Not too long after the chapter where the error is written is published, the Sentai at the time does have a character named Mio Natsume.
      • Compounding the Toqger reference, there was a case of a "Samurai Girl" within the story, written long before Kagura willed the imagination of it to life.
    • Shuriken Sentai Ninninger's cameo of Yoshi Sudarso literally proves the fanfic dead wrong in that the Power Rangers cast can't really be forced to speak Japanese when in the Super Sentai universe. In his appearance, he speaks clear English, making it a point that this universe isn't a Fisher Kingdom.
    • The USSPRA uses a selection system that decides who gets sent to the timeline. Not too long after this crossover was published, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger would be an official Sentai show who would use such a system.
    • There's definitely no coincidence that Toei must've picked up this fanfic's plot (time-travelling to past seasons and meeting with their heroes while dealing with a threat from the future)...and applied it to its sister franchise. In fact, had he wrote this during the time that series was airing, he would've cited that as well.
    • The crack pairings are virtually an infamous thing about the fanfic. especially considering its crossover setting. It wouldn't take a bit longer for the popularity of Jason/Lauren to rise thanks to Shattered Grid, and that displayed arguably better chemistry. The fact that one of them is from a series Akizuki despises is a bit of an insult to injury as well.
    • A prominent Red Ranger consistently taking the spotlight at the expense of others in this story? Sounds like a common criticism for modern Sentai shows, and this was written before that criticism became widespread amongst the fandom. So much in fact, one could say this fic was ahead of its time.
    • Werezilla rages out in his reading of Chapter 32, demanding that the fanfiction readers "want this fanfiction to burn in hell". The fic got deleted by the author because he believed that it should be "burnt and ripped". Almost verbatim to what he said.
    • In Cole's debut chapter, he was said to have people "treat him like a deity". Many years later, and we get another ranger that wouldn't seem to be treated similarly given the hordes of people he arrives with carrying him on a pedestal.
    • Flurious' treatment of being a house slave becomes a bit interesting in retrospect when Zenkaiger comes along and gives us Vroon, who is introduced as a janitor on the receiving end of punishment from Boccowaus. Eerily similar is how Flurious comes from Operation Overdrive, adapted from Boukenger to which Vroon is based on.
  • On 23 July 2010, a Power Rangers fanfic called "Mythic Rangers" was started, with one character named Hector. On 5 August, the names of the cast for the new 18th season of the franchise were leaked... the new green ranger is played by Hector David Jr. While the fanfic contains some deliberate Power Ranger references, this one was not intended.
  • In 2006, a Tekken story based off the Super Sentai franchise, Tekkenshu Sentai Shinkenger, was written and published on various websites. Two years after the fanfic was finished, cue Samurai Sentai Shinkenger; this is even funnier due to all the times Chiaki/ShinkenGreen is shown playing Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion.
  • Power Rangers Public Enemies
    • The fic reveals that a Ranger team, the Power Rangers of the New Frontier, operated during the sixties. Then Boom! Studios comes along and introduces the 1969 Rangers sent on a mission to the moon.
      • The PRNF's Red Ranger, John Hill, serves as a paragon of sorts during his last moments before stopping the meteorite, effectively dying for the sake of humanity. Though she has yet to prove this, the 1969 Rangers' Red Ranger, Grace Sterling, proves to be a key ally to the Rangers despite rarely showing her powers again.
    • George Sears shows fascination with regards to Hartford Industries' android technology. Jeremy Irons also revealed to have been dabbling into this side of Ranger tech as well. While it isn't for government purposes, Power Rangers Dino Fury would give us J-Borg, an android created by Hartford Industries nonetheless, and if things were to go by, it's far more commercially-used than the government-owned sect it would be portrayed as in the fic.
    • The fic features a scene where Rose kills Madison in an enclosed area. Look at it this way: the Blue Mystic Force Ranger and the Pink Operation Overdrive Ranger; swap the colors around, and though it's not exactly a Sentai, it does form the basis of Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger's Zenkai Oh Vroo Magine. Not to mention how both of the characters composing said mecha are close teammates on their own.
    • Three of the "Nameless heroes" in the fanfic during the Rangers' civil war are named Troy, Amy, and Joe. The former would be the name of a later Red Ranger and the latter two would be used in Super Sentai in two teams.
    • There is an abridged version of the fic, and in it, a sequel is detailed. The antagonist of the sequel is Power Lord Tommy, a version of the Power Rangers mascot that turned evil and stayed that way until the end. In other words...this fic predicted Lord Drakkon by seven years!
    • One of the main catalysts for Billy's cynicism in the story basically amounts to Trini's death at the hands of Count Dregon. The Netflix special Once and Always has Trini's death as a plot point, and a key character arc in the story is how her daughter takes up the mantle. Not to mention Billy doesn't become a cynic and manages to persist through.
  • The Bugrangers fanfic series is based on an original bug themed Sentai team, and it was started long before Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger started airing.
    • Even better, the fic's lineup included a female yellow mantis themed ranger, a butterfly themed female ranger, and a spider themed Sixth Ranger, all who made it into the official lineup.

Teen Titans

That's So Raven

  • Support: Chelsea ends up pregnant by her abusive boyfriend and turns to her old friend Raven for support. Raven's Home later features an adult Chelsea and her child (a boy, not a girl like in Support) living together with Raven, and her twins, after Chelsea divorces her implied-abusive husband.

Transformers

The Vampire Diaries

  • The Vampire Diaries Gender Flip story, 'The Sara Diaries', features Stefan as a girl named Sara Salvatore. In Season Six, it was revealed that there actually was a Sarah Salvatore, Zach's long lost daughter.
    • Said story also predicted that Stefan and Damon's mother is still alive.

X-Men: Evolution

Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series:
    • In episode 27, Tristan states that "In the future, card games will be played on motorbikes." A few months later, Frank Frankson was revealed to be Yusei Fudo's voice actor.
    • The Second Anniversary Spectacularthon had a few teasing shots at a couple VAs. I mean, no way Vic Mignogna would've watched it, recommended by a few of his Rangers, right? Wrong. Thankfully, he took it well and the two have met a few times since.
    • Another one with LK and Vic — for their first Kamicon promo, Martin calls him Yuri Lowenthalnote . Vic voiced an Uchiha later in Shippuden.
    • Also, a good two years before the Abridged Series came out and made these types of jokes, the dub had a military captain in the Doma filler arc (who played the whole situation straight in the original) say that "as strange as it sounds, the fate of the world now depends on a card game."
    • This:
Joey: Be careful, Yug. This guy means business. He wasn't even remotely intimidated by my Brooklyn Rage.
Yami: Joey, stop trying to turn 'Brooklyn Rage' into a catchphrase. It's never going to work.
    • Episode 50: "Joey Wheeler Ace Attorney" had Joey up against the guy that banned the series twice already. The judge said that third time's the charm .. and a few weeks later, Little Kuriboh was temporarily suspended on YouTube for the third time.
    • Episode 25 featured a short sequence of Yami and Tea singing a duet, and the end stinger said 'that's the closest you're gonna get to yu-gi-oh: the abridged musical'. Several years and a lot of cover songs later...

Unsorted/Dormant/Dead

  • Written four years prior to Superman: Red Son, Superman and Man has the Man of Steel wonder aloud: "What if Superman landed on a Communist country?"
  • Starbound: Originally, chapter 6 was going to have an alternate opening scene involving Miyuki, after having finished a spinoff conversation with the twins from the others, spacing out and subconsciously focusing her gaze further and further on Mondo's butt as her tendency to space out combines with a high state of sexual arousal following him and Rokuna showing themselves off in some skimpy swimwear to everyone just a few days earlier. The author was told that not only would this still be Out of Character even with the setup, and that it not only does not equate with any of her previous blunders from the anime (which would result more from poor spatial awareness, hyper-immersion while reading, etc.) but said blunders are probably why she would be more careful not to act offensively, but that male and female sexuality do not even work the same way, with focus on anatomy being mostly a male thing. In a last-minute edit when Economy revised the entire chapter following his main beta-reader's return to business, Rokuna actually scoots behind Mondo to obscure her own body from Konata's view when she comments on how her Pimped-Out Dress could easily do with a Cleavage Window. Surely, that would've snapped Miyuki out of her gaze if she were to have gawked at Mondo in the first place.
  • The Dragon Ball Z fanfic "Atrocities" features Goku getting possessed and turning evil thanks to a wish from the Dragon Balls, and causing his energy to get colored black. It's also a crossover with a few other series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and prominently features Spike. Over a decade and a half later, Spike's actor voices a villain who uses the Super Dragon Balls to switch bodies with Goku with the evil Goku being called Goku Black, who appropriately has black energy. You have to wonder if Toei and/or Funimation knew about this.
  • Ranma ½/Pokémon: The Series crossover "Fist of the Pikachu" has Ranma catch a Sandslash, and when he reaches Goldenrod City, his training causes it to evolve into a Steel-type new species. Its physical description is glaringly similar to Sandslash's Alolan form in Pokémon Sun and Moon, which also happens to be part Steel-type.
  • A throw-away gag in Berserk Abridged 44 has two Strawman Political parodies arguing, which devolves into childish taunting, including the liberal one of the two calling the conservative parody a teabagger... this was made at the end of 2007, cue a certain political movement that appeared a year later.
  • A NSFW Homestar/Strong Bad slashfic, somewhat infamous within the fandom, was reputedly written before the "Long Pants" email.
  • In the Final Fantasy VIII fic "Phantom Dreams", there's a joke about Zell's hair looking like a chocobo (and that's why Seifer called him a chicken) which was merely painfully unfunny until Final Fantasy XIII gave us a character with a chocobo living in his hair.
  • In 2004, a furry-based anthology comic featured a mini-comic involving a lupine boy band who turns out to be secretly gay behind the scenes. Obviously, it's meant to parody the rumors of homosexuality within real boy band members at the time, but with the coming out of Lance Bass and the outing of Ricky Martin (though many don't know he was a part of Menudo), you've got to wonder if the creator knew something we didn't. And, to make things even more hilarious, one of the band members in the comic is even named "Rickay"!
  • You Got HaruhiRolled! is a Haruhi Suzumiya Crack Fic. It has been running long before the preview to the tenth novel was even suspected, let alone released. In a chapter from before the preview, Kuyou Suou, who could not talk without ridiculously-long pauses between words, is suddenly able to speak articulately and chew out the characters who made fun of her speech issues. Guess what happens in the tenth novel?
  • A Harry Potter fanfic titled Gears of Potter had Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago from Gears of War team up with Harry Potter and his friends. Then EA Games released the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was basically Gears of War with MAGIC SPELLS.
  • Early in Hogwarts Exposed Jamie unveils her pet, a robot unicorn with the power to chase away bad dreams.
  • In the Katawa Shoujo fic "From Shizune's perspective," which was published before the full game was released, Shizune is surprised to find out that Emi is a lesbian, and Shizune says that "The track team captain being a lesbian is the sort of thing high school students would talk about," but that she gets left out of the loop because of her deafness. In Emi's route, while Emi is heterosexual, it turns out that the track team captain Hisao assumed was a romantic rival is gay, and Hisao appears to be the only one who knows of the captain and yet is unaware of his sexuality.
  • In episode 7 of Futari wa Pretty Cure Dragon, Hanzo Hattori (yet another fictional descendant of the Real Life Hattori Hanzō), a self-proclaimed Star Wars fan, demonstrates a working model of a lightsaber. About one month after the episode was posted, someone else made his own working model of a lightsaber in real life.
  • The Necromancers Of China Saga, a series of Kung Fu Panda fanfics, tells about a group of necromancers that raise an army of the undead to take over China. One year later, this became the plot of the Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness episode, "The Po who Cried Ghost".
  • Magicrat of deviantART wrote a Team Fortress 2 fanfic where Teams RED and BLU join forces to battle the GRN team. Skip forward one year, and we now have Mann Vs Machine.
  • In the second story of The Jill Gilbert Saga, Bonnie sacrifices herself to bring Elena back to life. In the fourth season finale, she did end up sacrificing herself, but to bring back Jeremy
  • In early 2013, a fanfic was published that consisted of Selena Gomez telling Bridgit Mendler why Alex and Juliet should be together. Bridgit remarks that a lesbian pairing would never happen on Disney Channel. A few months later, it was announced Mendler's show Good Luck Charlie would feature a lesbian couple in its final season.
  • Two fanfics by writer TakaiTotemSend Read Receipts and Peter Parker's Phone Calls — have a chapter or two each revolving around a waterfowl who only seems to exist to create chaos for the protagonists, doing things like stealing objects and delivering one-sided beatdowns to them (keep in mind that all of our main characters are superheroes). Sounds like a Shout-Out to Untitled Goose Game and the Memetic Badass reputation of its titular character...until you realize that the chapters he shows up in were written before the game was even announced.
  • Between My Brother and Me: Mors Omnibus has Xavier (using a Fabled deck) fighting off against Yuzu and questioning why Fabled didn't have better support, particularly in the Spell and Trap department. The chapter was updated around the time the Blazing Vortex booster pack was revealed that has more Fabled support and both a dedicated Field Spell and Trap card for it.
  • Boys und Sensha-dō! adds two new tank crews of male original characters — Shark Team and Alligator Team — to Oarai's roster. In Girls und Panzer das Finale, there's a new crew of (female) delinquents called Shark Team.
  • Golden Darkness by Matita Pere is a fanfic written in 2003, set in Tolkien's Legendarium, and probably the oldest known fanfic about Galadriel and Sauron being love interests. The premise of the fanfic is about Sauron, under the disguise of Annatar, who is in Eregion, manipulating the Elves to create the rings of power while developing a Villainous Crush on Galadriel. Two decades later, Amazon creates The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, where Sauron under the disguise of a human, has the hots for Galadriel while trying to create the rings of power. Of course that Sauron and Galadriel became over the night one of the most popular ships in the Lotr fandom. That fanfic writer must be very happy now for predicting Sauron/Galadriel.
