Heartwarming / Scream 2

• A reporter insinuates that Dewey is responsible for the new Ghostface killings. Gale, clearly outraged that anyone could even make such a claim, says that Dewey is a good guy "unlike some of us".
  • Goes both ways. When Randy claims that Gale could be responsible, Dewey says that Gale is lots of things but she’s no killer.
• Minor one in the end. After spending the entire film still being uncomfortable around Cotton despite knowing he didn't kill her mother, Sid praises him on National TV, allowing him to become a public hero. This is after he saved her life from Nancy.
• Sidney's boyfriend gives her his Greek letters to protect her, and indeed they do - at the end of the movie she uses them to disable the killer for a moment. She continues to wear them in 3.
• The sense of support and acceptance Sidney and Randy get from their classmates and teachers in general, and not just major characters like Derek and Hallie, is touching.
  • A Spear Carrier girl in Sidney's dorm alerts her about the new killing spree in a way that indicates concern for Sidney and understanding of the grim implications.
  • Sidney clearly views her drama professor as a Cool Teacher, and he's patient and reassuring toward her. Several student actors also show concern and sympathy rather than annoyance or contempt when Sidney has a Freak Out (brought on by either a Ghostface attack or a hallucination during rehearsal.
  • Randy and the other kids in his film class have a good rapport. Just seeing him in film class after he was previously just a video rental clerk is a great way for him to explore his passions.
  • While Lovable Alpha Bitch sorority duo Lois and Murphy seemingly want to cash in on Sidney's celebrity status, they also seem to like her on a personal level and seem touched by Derek's Grand Romantic Gesture.
• Due to Mickey's manipulation, Sidney hesitates in helping Derek, thinking him to be a killer. Mickey then shoots Derek. Before Derek dies, he tells Sidney he never would have hurt her.
