Heartwarming / Dave the Barbarian

Go To

  • In "Lula's First Barbarian", after the family hits home that Argon is a womanizer who doesn't care about Lula, Dave and Lula share a sincere smile with each other. For all the idiocy she has to deal with, at least Dave cares about her.
  • Pretty much any time that Dave casts aside his fears to protect his sisters, proving that while he may be a lousy barbarian, he's a great brother.
  • While "Fiends and Family" is pretty tearjerking (it really makes you feel sorry for Fang), the ending is very sweet:
    • After defeating Chuckles, the rest of the family is able to cheer her up by making a flip book animation of their parents, Throktar and Glimia.
  • In "Sorcerer Material," after it's revealed that Oswidge never technically went to sorcery school and, thus, isn't an official sorcerer, he leaves Malsquando's palace and gets a job at a restaurant called "P.F. McFoodington's." When Candy and her two BFFs find him there (as they were looking for a new hangout) and Oswidge explains the situation to Candy, she ultimately helps him feel better by pointing out that even if he's not an "official" sorcerer like Malsquando is, he can still use and perform magic and also assures her uncle that, sorcerer or not, she'll always love him for who he is. This restores Oswidge's confidence, and he goes to rescue Dave and Fang.
  • In "Thor, Loser," Lula's older sister, Molly, comes to visit and Lula admits to the others that she lied about them to her sister—but when Lula's ruse is exposed and Lula figures that her sister will mock her for it, Molly says, "At least you have a family who loves you," and admits that feels that Lula has it good in Udrogoth. Molly also reveals the real reason she came to visit her sister: she left Thor (as in, the Norse god of thunder—Lula then reveals to the others that "Molly" is short for "Mjolnir," the name of Thor's hammer).
    • Thor eventually comes to Udrogoth to bring Molly back to Asgard, but Lula stands up to Thor by calling him an "insensitive bully," which genuinely surprises and hurts Thor. Lula ultimately gets Thor and Molly to talk things out and the patch things up and head back to Asgard—but before they leave, Molly reveals that she was always secretly envious of her sister, since Lula was apparently considered "The Smart One" of the two of them.
  • In "Plunderball", Irmaplotz was touched that Dave was genuinely upset about having his cupcakes destroyed that she simply retreats.
