Headscratchers / The Little Prince

Go To

  • So, how did the Little Prince return to his asteroid? As a ghost? Was he reborn there? The aviator Never Found the Body the next day. What does that mean? Snake venom doesn't work like a Warp Whistle, does it?
    • A possible interpretation is that he never existed — the narrator hallucinated because of the shock and dehydration and just made it all up. He even admits that, when he finds a well in the middle of the desert, it isn't just a pit on the ground, but it's perfectly built with a brick case, a trolley system, and a bucket, which makes no sense. So most of the book could be just a long Fever Dream Episode.
    • Grownups...
    • Possibly he just died and went to Heaven, which for him would be that asteroid and being reunited with his rose.
  • The lamplighter claims that days on his planet last for a minute, and says he's been talking to the Little Prince for thirty minutes. However, even if you read their conversation loud and in a standard, not-rushed way, it will hardly last a minute.
    • Two choices: a) it's not meant to be literal and he and the Little Prince were indeed speaking for thirty minutes, since the pilot is the one telling us this, or b) the lamplighter is so overtired that he has no sense of time anymore.
