Headscratchers / The First Omen

Go To

  • This film takes place in 1971, five years before the original film was released. But didn't Omen III: The Final Conflict retcon the first film as taking place in 1956, since The Final Conflict explicitly took place in 1982 and 26 years after the original?
    • This movie is likely one of those horror movie sequels that ignores everything but the first movie. The Omen series has a very loose canon too.
  • Where do the Disciples of the Watch fit in? Though the Catholic church are involved in Damien's birth from the start, the other films feature Satanists protecting Damien from birth.
    • Likely to be insiders in the Church, other apostates, maybe actual demons in human form (like Mrs. Baylock). Or maybe the entire Church is apostate. Considering the huge network of demonologists, exorcists and Satanists in the Omenverse, truth got out fast.
    • Considering the way Satan communicates in these films, there were always signs (i.e. Yigael's Wall). The Church were only speeding up the process, but playing by the book.
  • The scene with the woman giving birth to a jackal is confusing for a number of reasons. First, it's established that even when a jackal mates with a human, the offspring is still (mostly) human. So who's the father of this jackal? Second, it's heavily implied that the women are raped by the same jackal since he will eventually have to rape his own daughter to create the Antichrist. So who is this jackal that's being born? Third, why is the woman giving birth in a room where people can simply look in and see as Margaret does? Isn't the whole conspiracy supposed to be kept secret?
    • It's established that Margaret has had visions of terrible and surreal things ever since she was a child, so the jackal's hand may not be literal, just a mixture of Margaret's symptoms and foreshadowing to her own forced pregnancy and birthing scene.
