Headscratcher pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

  • Why didn't the spider eat Leif? It had him strung up in a web for years to decades and seemingly didn't do anything to him. Only explanation I can think of is that the spider didn't want to eat him after his body had been infected with cordyceps, but if that was the case, makes no sense to keep him strung up.
    • It’s possible the cordyceps would protect itself with ice magic every time the spider tried to get close to it.
    • I think the answer is that it already ate him. Do you know that spiders eat insects by injecting the poison into them that liquifies their insides, and then drinking it out, leaving only an empty husk behind? So, as a result, only Leif's husk remained, and when cordyceps possessed it, it brought him back to life. Yet the spider was not aware of that, since, in its eyes, Leif was already eaten and dead, so there is no point in eating what it believed to be an empty husk… until it discovers that Leif is alive after all, and then it starts targeting him as well as Vi and Kabbu.
  • Why were exploration teams ever limited to duos? Vi and Kabbu first team up because they're not allowed to adventure solo, and after they return from their first successful expedition, Eetl has to make an exception for Team Snakemouth to be allowed to have three members. Yet pretty much every other mission organized by Elizant II involves at least two teams at the same time, and she's also giving missions to Maki that specifically require him to travel alone and leave Kina behind. So... why make a rule requiring exactly two members in the first place?
    • Maybe because sometimes missions would require splitting, and specifically assigning two people as a team would strengthen the bond between them. If the teams were made of four, then splitting them would result in worrying for their missing teammates and believing it's their responsibility if the missing two would fail and/or get harmed, and that would lower their morale and hinder their effectiveness. Having the four explorers be in two different teams would encourage the "It's their responsibility" mindset, which would prevent them from needlessly worrying about others. As for Maki? Well, he's one of the best explorers (if not the best) in the Association, and, combining that with the fact that he is very overprotective of Kina, the Queen does allow him to work solo, since Maki can take care of himself and not to endanger Kina. Plus, with Yin joining Team Maki, there is a chance that teams with more than two members will eventually become more common.
    • From a practical standpoint, it ensures a ready supply of teams (Small, individual cells that can group up as needed, rather than larger teams that may be reluctant to split), plus prevents any form of power concentration (no individual team can keep swelling their ranks to become a threat to organization as a whole)
  • If Dead Lander Omega is almost as tall as Giant’s Lair itself, why does it not bother the kitchen table or the stove during all the commotion? How are the Roaches any safer living on the high shelf next to the fridge if it’s tall enough to notice them?
    • The same reason it doesn't just step on the heroes when they first enter. Heck, it probably did throw a few of the smaller Dead Landers up there at some point.
  • What is Tidal Wyrm doing in this game? It would make no sense for a draconic/serpentine entity to be here. It would be understandable if this creature appeared in some sort of Dungeons & Dragons-esque fantasy RPG, but in the world of tiny bugs, where the main characters are slightly smaller than a coin, unless it's the tiniest dragon in the world, Tidal Wyrm boss fight feels like a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment. And no, it being optional does not excuse it being out of place in this game.
    • It's a worm (its name and draconic appearance being a pun on it), and its different appearance compared to real life worms is about on par with other characters when you keep that in mind.
    • In a Reddit AMA, Genow revealed that it is supposed to be a worm mutated by the magic of the ancient crystals.
  • How did Venus know the bugs in the "false village" were wearing masks when her bud doesn't have eyes? Why couldn't she tell they were all mothfly clusters underneath?
    • Venus' buds are able to sense objects, as shown in the Bandits' Hideout, where she could feel the presence of items stolen by bandits. So she possibly sensed their masks the same way. As of her inability to identify mothfly clusters, I believe it's because the mothflies are in such close proximity to each other that their life presences "blur" into one, which made Venus unable to notice that they all are mothfly clusters. After all, not even Venus is all-powerful.
  • How does Cenn eat Pisci's Crunchy Leaves with a proboscis?
  • When exactly was Leif killed? Muze's father doesn't recognize him or his name, suggesting that Leif and Muse are at least his great-grandparents, but his old friend Rebecca is still alive. Even if we make the rather generous assumption that Rebecca is both over 110 years old and was a child at the time she knew him, the timeline doesn't quite line up. And even if Elizant II is Older Than She Looks, there's still only one generation between her and the queen that Leif served.
