  • Charlie's lack of knowledge of cooking while Peg's missing at her secret job. He sits silently in the kitchen surrounded by dirty plates piling over in the sink with no food in the fridge and a boiled-over pot on the stove, trying to cook food with the only mouldy food he could find. When Ted shows up to talk, Charlie offers him some breakfast, such as a bit of mouldy cheese and dried-up bread:
Ted: [slightly gagging] Not... really hungry now.
  • When Charlie and Pintpot pick up some newlyweds:
    Newly-married husband: Where's my bag?
Terry Tankard: (pointing to the wife) She's already in the car.
  • The fiasco with Jeremy's wife driving Charlie and Pintpot to and from the hospital at least four times:
    • The first time they arrive at the hospital:
Terry Tankard: Why aren't we going to the back?
Charlie Hawkins: [crossly] What do you mean?
Terry Tankard: Well, the sign said that all deliveries should be at the rear.
    • Then there's a false alarm:
      Charlie Hawkins: No?
Jeremy: (shakes head with slight amusement) I guess we should just go home. Just turn at the—
Charlie Hawkins: I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING!! I'VE BEEN THERE BEFORE!!
  • The movie itself has a subtle social commentary on the Battle of the Sexes, crossed with a slice of the possible way that men would react if a woman would be in charge, such as becoming very protective and jumping into war without hesitation - most importantly, acting like a couple of moody girls. When Charlie finds out about the real culprit of his dying business, he bans Peg from being in the house with him, forcing her to sleep on a chair in the Glamcabs office. A Stereotype Flip of the common clichés.
  • Charlie turns up over four hours late to pick up Peg, who is drunkenly asleep in the bedroom, and tells her the pleasant news, which causes her to throw a bottle at him:
Charlie Hawkins: Peggy, are you awake? Peggy! I'm sorry I couldn't make it tonight. See... I was out cabbing with Terry, and... well... [excitedly] we had a baby!
(Peggy launches a bottle of wine at his head, scaring him out of the room)
  • Sally calling her boyfriend Ted a "pig-headed little runt".
  • Allbright's excuses for not having Flo take over her husband's job:
Allbright: Well, first of all. if there's a woman here, we'd have to moderate our language and secondly, there's only one WC here.
Flo: Well, first of all, I know more bad language than you'll ever have known in your life, and secondly, I don't want to use the first bit!
    (Charlie giggles)
  • "[feedback squeal] the union!"
  • One of the Glamcabs drivers, Gloria, points out that they're in a dangerous position to attract unwanted attention from the male passengers, so Flo suggests that they use a starting handle on them if they try anything.
