• Billing Displacement: While Anthea is only a minor character in the film, Amanda Barrie is given a prominent place in the centre of the film's poster.
• Blooper:
  • When Sally throws crockery at Ted, more crockery comes flying through the door in the next scene than it would be possible to throw at the rate she was.
  • When Ted infiltrates Glamcabs Disguised in Drag, his name badge is visible in the longshot, but covered by his wig in the close-up.
  • When Sarge's expletive is censored by the microphone's feedback, Cyril Chamberlain's mouth is not seen moving.
• Cast the Expert: Many of the extras for Charlie's cab company were actual taxi drivers.
• Completely Different Title:
  • Hungary: Go on, Taxi Driver!/Carry On, Taxi Driver!.
• Creator's Favourite Episode: This was Hattie Jacques' favourite Carry On as it gave her a chance to show her sincere side rather than her usual monstrous authority.
• Deleted Scene: The book Carry On Uncensored features a still of a deleted scene of Charlie and Ted with rolls stuffed in their mouths.
• Dolled-Up Installment: This wasn't originally intended to be a part of the film series, being pitched as a stand-alone film named Call Me a Cab, but eventually did through post-production.
• DVD Commentary: With Carry On historian Robert Ross talking to Liz Fraser (Sally).
• Fake Brit:
  • The South African-born Sid James plays the British Charlie Hawkins.
  • The Australian Esma Cannon plays the British Flo Sims.
• Irony as She Is Cast: Amanda Barrie couldn't drive, so she had a rope attached to the front of her taxi and was towed out of the shot when the drivers were supposed to drive off.
• Recycled Script: The end sequence came from an unsold script by Sid Colin called The Streets of Town.
• Referenced by...:
  • The film appears on a marquee in the 1968 film Never a Dull Moment.
  • Part of the film's production was reenacted in Hattie, the 2011 Hattie Jacques biopic.
  • The Endeavour episodes "Home" and "Scherzo" had taxi companies called Speedee Cabs and Speedy Taxis, similar to this film's Speedee Taxis.
• Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Liz Fraser had an ill-advised conversation with distributor boss Stuart Levy about how the films could be better distributed. This caused her to be dropped from Carry On Jack and Carry On Spying, and she wouldn't return to the series for another twelve years until Carry On Behind.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The initial treatment was written by R.M. Hills and S.C. Green.
  • Before Call Me a Cab was given the Carry On prefix, Carry On Flying and Carry On Spaceman both had scripts ready for shooting but were both abandoned.
  • Kenneth Williams was offered the role of Allbright, but he thought it an inferior script and turned it down, making this the first Carry On in which he did not appear. The role of Allbright was given to Norman Chappell, while most of his funny lines were given to Charles Hawtrey as Pintpot. He wrote in his diaries:
    Read script of the Peter Rogers film Call Me a Cab and hated it. Wrote and said I didn't want to do it.
  • Fenella Fielding turned down the role of Anthea because the part she was offered was obsessed with her bust. The role later went to Amanda Barrie.
