Fridge Brilliance

  • The Lion Zodiac version of the Milky Shock attack features a pair of lion-shaped bolts. It's a reference to the komainu youkai, a benevolent creature who always appears in pairs, guarding the entrance of shinto shrines together and supposed to ward off evil spirits. In particular, shishi (獅子) doubles as the word lion but as well as how the left-hand komainu is called. With the villains representing more malicious youkai, it's only fitting benevolent ones protect humanity.
  • Elena's catchphrase is an Italian word and she is half-Latino. Very suitable considering in real-life millions of Latin Americans are of Italian descent.
    • "Chao" seems to be the correct romanization of her catchphrase. It's the spanish version of "ciao", and would roughly translate to "byebye" as a more casual way to say adios/goodbye.
  • Very fitting that Selene got the Sagittarius Pen since it is the arrow constellation and Selene is an archer.
  • Bakenyan is based off of the Bakeneko of Japanese folklore. Bakeneko are described as shapeshifters, which is fitting considering that Bakenyan is in fact merely a disguise of Blue Cat.
  • The rainbow theme of Cure Cosmo is a reference to Aurora lights.
  • Listen carefully. The Cures got the Aquarius (water) pen in a planet of ice.
    • The Cancer Pen, which is green, was found on Planet Saman, Lala's planet. Now what color is Lala? Green, of course!
  • How did Aiwarn's ship get out of the bubble if physical escape would require another hole with water flowing through? There's probably a teleport.
  • The Saman people only eat small things, which makes you realize that this may explain Lala being confused with the giant rice ball.
  • Samaan is a technologically advanced planet whose people are way too dependant on machines who do the work for them and because of that they're slowly spiralling in sloth. Heh... Heard that one before.
  • Why would Ophiuchus recruit Galogre, who was an inhabitant of the planet she destroyed? Why, to prevent him from learning the truth. She was keeping an eye on him.

Fridge Horror

  • Aiwarn said the robot was number 16 because there were 15 test models, which raises the question of what evil stuff she had to do during the 15 test models.
  • The first few minutes of episode 29 indicate that Lala hadn't been in contact with Saman at all since the series began, and she hadn't told anyone anything that would explain her absence, but apparently Lolo's message in episode 25 was the first time anyone had tried to contact her since then. The implication is that either nobody thought it was strange that she'd stop talking to anyone for six months (suggesting that she had trouble getting along with others?)... or nobody really cared.
  • Episode 38 reveals that Aiwarn created the Nottorei suits and that the Nottorei are people in suits. Just who knows how many innocent people died at the hands and fists of those Cures.
