Go To

Here are the various ways the costumes were foreshadowed. Beware of spoilers!

    open/close all folders

Season One Contestants

    Stallion
  • His face off song was "I’m Too Sexy". A song like that perfectly fits Takeo's desire to be loved.

    Bee
  • The Bee says he lives between a rock and a stupid place. That refers to where Squidward's moai house is, between Patrick's rock and SpongeBob's pineapple.
    • He also says he knows one of the two inhabitants of those places being here. That alludes to SpongeBob being a judge, who ends up stalking Squidward and forcing his elimination.
  • Bee says he's working for a queen bee protecting a recipe. Here, he alludes to Mr. Krabs and the Krabby Patty Formula.
  • He also says the others don’t know good talent when they see it. Its a recurring gag that no one ever takes Squidward's music or other talents seriously, as seen in episodes like "Culture Shock".

    Egg
  • His weakness was not being smart. Dudley isn’t known for his intelligence.
  • His face off song was "Holding Out For A Hero". Being part of a spy organization means this song fits Dudley well.

    Ghost
  • His first clue mentions not wanting to share the stage with a rabbit. Bugs Bunny is notorious for always being able to one up Daffy.
  • Both of Ghost's songs were about money. If there’s one thing that’s been consistent about Daffy's personality, it’s that he's exceptionally greedy.

    Knight
  • Knight says she's got a bizarre sword. Ryuko's choice of weapon is a sword shaped like the blade of a pair of scissors.
  • Her first song was "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off". A primary theme of Kill la Kill is clothes and being comfortable in your own skin.

    Spider
  • His weakness is being fragile. Despite being the personification of death, it doesn’t take much for Grim to fall to pieces.
  • He mentions that he's being bothered by two people. That refers to Billy and Mandy, who end up hunting Grim down and forcing his unmasking.

    Chameleon
  • She says she's disappeared from most people's minds. Not many people nowadays remember Brandy and Mr. Whiskers.
  • Her first song was "Conga". Of course a song like that would fit the jungle stranded Brandy.

    Mermaid
  • She uses lingo a lot. Clover did this frequently with her teammates, Sam and Alex.

    Pharaoh
  • She references her "King" a lot. That refers to Hinata’s husband, Naruto himself.

    Rabbit
  • She brings up a rival she had. That references her rival, Ringo.

    Scorpion
  • She mentions people have to be strong in her world. In a world like Akira's, that’s totally true.

    Dog
  • Says that he's gonna be the very best boy. The opening lyrics to the original Pokémon theme song are "I'm gonna be the very best, like no one ever was."
  • Dog says that he's 10 years old. This has always been Ash's age, no matter how long he's been traveling.
  • The area "Pelt Town" comes up frequently. This sounds similar to Pallet Town, Ash's place of origin.
  • His weakness says he deals with balls frequently. As in Pokéballs, which trainers use to keep Pokémon on their person.
  • His first song was "We Are The Champions". It took 21 years and a lot of heartbreak, but Ash finally won an official League in Alola.
  • Their clue cupcakes are 6 red velvet with a white wrapping. The cupcakes look like Pokéballs and there only being six references only being allowed to have six Pokémon to a team.

    Robot
  • Mentions that he does kill bad people, but his friends don't agree with his beliefs. Deadpool is often at odds with the X-Men over being willing to kill.
  • Says that no matter what happens to him, he can always pull himself back together. Deadpool is very well known for his Healing Factor.
  • His fourth song was "50 Ways To Say Goodbye". A upbeat song about ways to die with a mariachi beat is pretty much tailor made for Deadpool.

    Moon
  • The word Universe comes up a few times throughout his clues. Steven's last name is Universe.
  • Mentions that his destiny is clear as crystal. Steven is a member of the Crystal Gems.
  • His second song was "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend". This alludes to Steven's major enemies, the Diamond Authority.
  • His clue crystals are in the shape of a star. Steven's shirt has a star design on it.

    Monster
  • Throughout the Monster's clues, the number 11 pops up repeatedly. Lori is the oldest of 11 siblings.
  • Her first song is "Let’s Get Loud". Lori's last name is Loud.
  • Their clue cupcakes have a golf theme. Lori is an amazing golfer who plays for her school team.
  • Says she's not good with saying goodbye. When her boyfriend, Bobby, moved away, Lori nearly had a mental breakdown.

    Volcano
  • The costume, considering that Lord Dominator has lava powers.
  • Her first clue mentions that she's destroyed a place. Dominator is a planet destroyer.
  • She sings several songs that could be considered a Villain Song, such as "Bad" and "When You're Evil". Dominator is bad to the core in her home show.

Season Two Contestants

    Bouquet
  • Her first clue has her tell the others to not mess with roses. A censored version of Bayonetta's famous quote, "Don't fuck with a witch".

    Wizard
  • His very first clue mentions a formula. Plankton's goal in life is to try to get his hands on the Krabby Patty formula or, failing that, a Krabby Patty itself for analysis to figure out the formula.
  • Does the way Wizard introduces himself sound familiar? If so, then you remember the episode "The Fry Cook Games", where Plankton introduced the hulking fish carrying Patrick in a near identical way.
  • His sole song was "Black Magic." In the episode "Dunces and Dragons", Plankton played the part of an evil wizard with a jellyfish dragon.

    Spaghetti
  • He says he's a leader amongst food groups. Woody is, of course, the leader of the toys, and often acts as their mediator during conflict.
  • He says he's been treated as a childhood icon. Who hasn’t grown up watching the Toy Story films at one point?

    Disco Ball
  • His first clue has him claim to be a bread-winner. Toasters are used for making bread related dishes for the most part.

    Vixen
  • Vixen's very first clue reads "Vixen says, head, meet block". Lucy's favorite insult is Blockhead.
  • She says she has to look good for her piano man. This alludes to Lucy's crush Schroeder, who is well known for his love of playing the piano.
  • Her second clue package mentions football. This is an obvious one, referencing the running gag Lucy tormenting Charlie Brown by continually pulling away a football before he can kick it and causing him to fall on his back.

    Mole
  • Claims that they can spend thirty days awake. Thirty days is the max amount of days in the first Pikmin game.
  • Their first performance was "Hungry Like The Wolf". A double reference. The reason Brittany came to PNF-404 to begin with was due to rapid famine on her home planet, and being sent there was a mission to try to find food, with them finding fruits to allow cultivation. In addition, Brittany is easily the biggest glutton between her and her co-workers.
  • Their second and final performance was "The Final Countdown". This is also a double reference, first to rockets, which are frequently used throughout her series, and to the countdown at the end of every day when all Pikmin must be gathered up and brought to their Onions.

    Top Hat
  • In an unintentional instance of this, the costume itself. Top hats are often worn by magicians. Ronnie Anne's boyfriend, Lincoln, has expressed interest in becoming a magician.
  • Their real Masked Singer clue, Robopine/Tyrese Gibson is a double one. First, it relates to Lincoln getting his own movie and second, it references Lincoln's role in Nickelodeon Kart Racers.

    Kittens
  • They mention having an eccentric owner. That refers to Grunkle Stan.
  • Their first song is "Bump in the Night". If there's one thing Gravity Falls is known for, it’s creepy things.

    Queen
  • She mentions she was part of an army. In Micaiah's home series of Fire Emblem, maintaining an army is essential to win.

    Broccoli
  • Broccoli mentions that something they love got destroyed by an evil corporation. This is a reference to Unikitty's home of Cloud Cuckoo Land, which was sunk into the ocean by Octan.
  • Her picture clue is cotton candy. This is one of the things Unikitty thought of to keep herself calm after Cloud Cuckoo Land was sunk.

    Firefly
  • The costume itself is one as Tiana had a firefly companion named Ray throughout her film.
  • Makes repeated references to gumbo. Gumbo is Tiana's signature dish.

    Rain Cloud
  • Her real Masked Singer clue was Tree/Ana Gasteyer, and she says she never got a Christmas special. Wendy isn’t lying, as there is no Christmas special for Gravity Falls.
  • She is rather close to the Kittens. Considering it's Dipper and Mabel under those masks, Wendy being close to them makes a lot of sense.

    Great White
  • The word Million pops up a few times throughout Great White's clues. The cash prize on Chris's show in a million dollars.
  • The costume itself is also a clue as sharks have appeared frequently on Total Drama, with one shark named Fang becoming a minor recurring character.
  • Repeatedly opens clues with "Last time on..." much like how Chris opens every episode of Total Drama

    Bananas
  • The two mention they stole hearts frequently. As in Kingdom Hearts.
  • Keys are also mentioned throughout the clues. Keyblades are the main weapons throughout the Kingdom Hearts series.

    Wolf
  • Their real Masked Singer clue was Monster/T-Pain, and they say that they appeared in their home material. This is true, as T-Pain met Panda and the other Bears and gave them a tour of his tour bus.

Season Three Contestants

    Monkey
  • He’s describe as being a pink monkey in a gold tuxedo. This is an inverse of how Pagan looks- wearing a pink suit with blonde hair.
  • Brain's clue says, "Amazing how one bad thing can make you go ape." Pagan was driven to start ruining Kyrat by Ms. Ghale.
  • His preview clue has a relaxed tone which encourages the reader to wait. Waiting for 15 minutes is how you get arguably the only good ending in Far Cry 4.

    Sumo
  • Says she started small, but still can't compete with someone bigger. In spite of Minnie's popularity, she is still nothing when compared to Mickey.
  • On stage, she claims she's gained 28 pounds. Minnie's debut was in 1928.
  • Brain's clue was about how big her career is. Considering Minnie’s one of the biggest cartoon stars out there, that's really no surprise.
  • Her song was Cleopatra’s cover of "Right Back Where We Started From". That song was used by another one of Minnie's friends, Goofy, in A Goofy Movie.

    Smile
  • His opening clue was "These pearly whites aren’t just for show." This is an obvious reference to Glenn's career in dentistry.
  • Brain's clue was "The teeth may not look the best from a certain point of view." This references how Glenn's show is a rather polarizing one.
  • The costume itself is a massive clue as Glenn being a dentist means he sees a lot of smiles.

    Otherworlder
  • She changes her name from Universe to Otherworlder because she says it's against her. The title of the second Phineas and Ferb movie is Candace Against The Universe.
  • Using the term busting quite a bit. Candace is obsessed with trying to bust her brothers.

  • Mentions meeting Taylor Swift. She appeared on an episode of "Take Two With Phineas and Ferb".

    Cerberus
  • Brain's clue reads "I'm glad this dog doesn’t have four heads." Currently, there have been three different versions of Spyro.
  • Says they never fit in, but learned they had some special talents. Spyro is a rare purple dragon, which means that he can wield all the elements.
    • Building on this, he later calls himself a rare breed. Purple dragons are only born once every 10 years and there are often very few born on top of that.
  • Claims he's got lasting power beyond other people’s capabilities. In spite of having trouble keeping himself in the spotlight, Spyro has a highly devoted fanbase.
  • A subtle one is his final song, "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons. Spyro is a dragon.
  • As a clue, Brain reveals a dragonfly chew toy. Spyro's closest ally is a dragonfly named Sparx.

    Mango
  • Says that Mangos get overlooked after two seasons. The show Lord Hater hails from, Wander over Yonder, was infamously cancelled by Disney after only two seasons.
  • Admits that he's partly competing to avoid an annoying super fruit. This alludes to Wander, who Hater finds extremely annoying.
  • His only song is Michael Jackson's "Leave Me Alone". Hater would like nothing more than for Wander to get out of his life.

    Astronaut
  • Her clue package took place on a plane. Being a spy, it’s only natural that Monkey would homage Mission: Impossible.
  • Her Masked Alumni were the Bananas/Roxas and Xion. This one’s obvious, since she's a monkey.

    Soap
  • The first clue package for Soap is stylized like a fairy tale. This is a reference to the start of the first Shrek movie, which informs the audience of Fiona's plight via a storybook.
  • Their Trick or Treat clue is a treat in the form of a piñata shaped like a donkey. One of Fiona's closest friend's is the apply named Donkey.
    • This is also the clue that causes Shrek to realize who it is. Of course he'd know it was his own wife under the costume.
  • For the gossip clues, Soap implies that she doesn't smell great under the costume. Being an ogre, it's only natural that Fiona smells.

  • Her Mask Jam clue is Skeleton/Paul Shaffer and mentions someone carving a skull into a tree. Courtney's ex, Duncan, was always carving or spray-painting skulls into trees.
  • Says she lost a lot of friends because of her behavior. Courtney's behavior has cost her most of her friends, most infamously Gwen, as well as both of her relationships.
  • Says that her Christmas present is simply being on a Christmas special. Total Drama has no Christmas special.
  • The reason for her Non-Gameplay Elimination is because she was attempting to fix the game in her favor. Upon her return in Total Drama Action, Courtney gets herself special treatment to make things easier.

    Hummingbird
  • The costume is noted to be blue. To match her pony self, Rainbow's skin color is blue.
  • The topic of speed comes up quite a bit throughout their clues. Even if she's not as fast as her pony counterpart, EG!Rainbow Dash is still quite the speedster.
