The holiday just got a lot more real.

"One boy, ten girls, spreading joy to all the world!"

A Loud House Christmas is a live-action film based on the hit Nickelodeon cartoon The Loud House, released on November 26, 2021. It was directed by Jonathan Judge.

It's Christmas time in Royal Woods, and Lincoln Loud is looking forward to spending Christmas with his family. Unfortunately for him, his family has other plans: Lori has an impending golf tournament, Luna has a skiing trip, Luan has a comedy gig at Sunset Canyon, and the parents are considering going to Miami with the rest of the kids to spend the holidays. So Lincoln, along with his best friend Clyde, embarks on a mission to bring his family together for the holidays...

The film stars Wolfgang Schaeffer as Lincoln, Jahzir Bruno as Clyde, Lexi DiBenedetto as Lori, Dora Dolphin as Leni, Sophia Woodward as Luna, Catherine Ashmore Bradley as Luan and Mr. Coconuts, Morgan McGill as Lynn, Aubin Bradley as Lucy, Mia Allan as Lana, Ella Allan as Lola, Lexi Janicek as Lisa, Charlotte Ann Tucker and Lainey Jane Knowles as Lily, and Muretta Moss as Rita, alongside Catherine Taber and Brian Stepanek reprising their respective roles from the animated series as Katherine Mulligan and Lynn Sr.

The success of the film caused Nickelodeon to make it the Pilot Movie for The Really Loud House, a live-action series that premiered on November 2022 with most of the film's leads reprising their roles. The series was then extended into another season, with a live-action Halloween special, A Really Haunted Loud House, released September 28, 2023.

  • Adaptational Dye-Job: Lincoln's hair is more of a platinum-blonde in this film, as opposed to being pure white in the animated series.
  • Adaptational Modesty: In the show, Luan typically wears a sleeveless blouse. Here, it has long sleeves. In a lesser form, Luna wears a fishnet shirt under her barely-sleeve-covered t-shirt.
  • Alliterative Name: Operation Lose Luan's Laughfest. Lampshaded by Clyde, who notes, "That's a lot of L's."
  • An Aesop:
    • Following tradition is usually important, but it's good to break it occasionally.
    • No matter where you are, your family will be part of you.
  • And Starring: The Video Credits end with "And Brian Stepanek".
  • Ascended Extra: The reporter Katherine Mulligan has a big role in this movie, appearing whenever a newscast is occurring and is especially revealed to have a connection with Clyde.
  • Big Little Sister: Luna, Luan, and Lynn are bigger than Leni here. Lynn is around the same height as Leni despite their three-year age gap, if not a little taller, while Luna and Luan flat-out tower over their older sister.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Lincoln receives the proper punishment for ruining everyone's plans by having 300 hours of community service, Lori has to go back to college, Luna and Sam get back together and go skiing, and the rest of the family is going to Miami after all. But Lincoln's not upset about it, as at least the family got to spend time together and it's possible they'll make new traditions as well.
  • Brick Joke: Near the end of the movie, on Christmas morning, Luan finishes her 12 Pranks of Christmas by unleashing whoopee cushions on the twins while they were opening presents at the same time.
  • California Doubling: In-Universe, Clyde and Lincoln use a lake at Royal Woods as a substitute for the beaches of Miami, Florida.
  • Cassandra Truth: When Lincoln tries to call the news and confess that the sharkodile is a fake he made, Katherine Mulligan ignores him, thinking that he’s pranking her.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • As in "11 Louds A-Leaping", Luan is once again celebrating Christmas in her usual jokey style, but this time, she's upgraded from the 12 Puns of Christmas like in that episode to the 12 Pranks of Christmas. She's apparently already done eight pranks before the start of the movie, as seen when she does prank number nine.
    • When the Miami trip idea is being discussed among the Louds, Lucy once again expresses her desire to witness a shark attack, like in "In Tents Debate".
    • Tanya, Leni's Companion Cube mannequin from "Leader of the Rack", once again appears.
  • Covers Always Lie: The Louds' hamster Geo appears on the poster, but he isn't seen at all in the film itself, along with the other main Loud pets. However, Lincoln is seen scooping canine fecal matter in a flashback, alluding to Charles.
  • Dark Reprise: Luna sings a tragic version of her Christmas tune while wallowing in sorrow.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Whenever grown humans (namely Lynn Sr. and Rip Hardcore) get hit by Lisa's Sharkodile tranquilizing spray, its effects on them are similar to the effects of being drunk, with slurred speech, hazy vision, and clumsy movements. The scene where Lynn Sr. comes to his senses afterwards even looks like a What Did I Do Last Night? scenario.
  • Easily Forgiven: For all that Lincoln does in the movie, it is subverted. While Rita and Lynn Sr. do understand that Lincoln’s actions came from a place of love and they along with the rest of the family do forgive him, Lincoln still has to make up for the damage he caused and is sentenced to 300 hours of community service. But he does get to have Christmas with his family first.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: When Rip Hardcore rips off his shirt sleeves to show off the scars he got from the piranha-gator, both Katherine Mulligan and Rita appreciate the sight (The opposite is true for Luna, who is rolling her eyes instead.)
  • Frame-Up: To stop Luan’s gig at the senior home, Lincoln and Clyde steal Luan’s comedy props and set up some mean pranks with them while passing them off as a marketing stunt she created, making the seniors angry enough at her to cancel her booking.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: To prevent Luna from going on a skiing trip with Sam over Christmas, Lincoln and Clyde fake a call from Mick Swagger claiming that he will be in Royal Woods on Christmas and asking Luna to have a jam session together with him to tempt her to stay.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Lincoln’s efforts to make sure his family stays together so they can happily enjoy a traditional Christmas together succeed, but the unintended consequences of his actions hit hard and fast:
    • Luan is shocked and in disbelief that Pop-Pop would fire her out of nowhere, so she is refusing to talk with him and is also questioning her own comedic talents, to the point of snapping at Mr. Coconuts in anger in the middle of a bit.
    • Luna is wallowing in sorrow because by choosing to stay in Royal Woods over going on the ski trip with Sam, Sam broke up with her.
    • Leni is in creative distress without her mannequin Tanya. And since he stole Tanya during Leni's shift, she's fired from Reninger's.
    • Lola, Lynn, and Lana are all moping over the cancelled trip and not being able to do the activities they were looking forward to. The parents are also in a similar state, and Lincoln overhears them talking that they may not get a chance to try a trip like this again until after they retire.
    • Unknown to the rest of the family at the time, Lori’s surprise return to Royal Woods is interrupted when Bobby’s moped runs out of gas 20 miles from town, stranding them in the freezing cold as nighttime begins to set in.
    • And to top it all off, because Lincoln thought to hide the sharkodile in the woods, it was spotted by Scoots mid-transit. She reported it to the news, which ends up causing a state of emergency to be declared and forcing the tree-lighting ceremony to be canceled; ruining the one Christmas tradition Lily was looking forward to as well as one of the whole reasons Lincoln did all this in the first place.
  • Group Picture Ending: The film closes with a picture of the Louds riding downhill on Lincoln's giant sled.
  • Hero Antagonist: Rip Hardcore is only trying to save Royal Woods from the threat of the Sharkodile. Trouble is, said Sharkodile is actually controlled by Lincoln and Clyde.
  • Incoming Ham: When Lynn first appears, she yells out, "HEY, STINKIN'!" before we see her charging down the hallway to plow into Lincoln.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: 7-year-old Lola tells Lincoln that the Christmas pageant she's involved in is "literally taking years off [her] life." She's played by Ella Allan, who was 11 years old during filming.

    M-Z
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Lincoln and Clyde invoke this with the Sharkodile, part-shark and part-crocodile. Also, when brought on the news to talk about the Sharkodile's apparent threat Rip Hardcore claims to have encountered a Piranhagator, which likely is a similar, but real, piranha-alligator hybrid.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lincoln, after realizing that his efforts to bring his family together have made them depressed.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Lincoln and Clyde's disguises at the retirement home count as this. Pop-Pop and Nana Gayle lampshade this when they see Lincoln and Clyde and ask if they know them.
  • Pie in the Face: Luan gives one to Lincoln right at the beginning of the movie.
  • Pilot Movie: The movie serves as one to The Really Loud House, a live-action spinoff of the animated series.
  • Plank Gag: During Lori's video chat with the family, Lincoln swings the wrapped sled over the family's heads. Lynn Sr., having been beaned by the sled himself beforehand, is quick to warn the others.
  • Quote Mine: Lincoln and Clyde manipulate audio of Mick Swagger to prevent Luna from going skiing with Sam.
  • Reality Is Unrealistic: Unlike most countries, most of the states of the United States, Michigan included, have no minimal age of criminal responsibility. Thus, Lincoln can be held criminally responsible for his actions.
  • Rearrange the Song: The film begins with a Christmas-themed arrangement of the show's theme song, called "Loud Christmas".
  • Say My Name: Leni screams, "TANYAAAAA!!!!!!" as Lincoln and Clyde steal the mannequin for their Sharkodile video.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The trailers completely spoil moments from the final minutes of the film, specifically the Sharkodile's mall attack, Luna's concert at the tree-lighting, the Louds spending Christmas morning together, and the sled ride at the very end.
  • Video Credits: The first half of the credits is done in this style, set to an instrumental of "Loud Christmas". Whenever the leads are credited, footage of them in character is played next to footage of their animated counterparts. For most of them, the live-action version is shown on the left, while the animated version is on the right. Since Lily is played by two actors in the film, her animated version is instead sandwiched between both live-action actors, with Charlotte Ann Tucker on the left and Lainey Jane Knowles on the right.
  • The Voice: Mick Swagger is only present as a voice-only cameo, aside from the various posters in Luna and Luan's room.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Lincoln goes through extreme measures to keep his family together for Christmas. Such measures include...
    • Setting up mean pranks at Sunset Canyon to get them to cancel Luan's comedy gig.
    • Tricking Luna into thinking she won a recording session with Mick Swagger to draw her away from a skiing trip with Sam, which in turn causes Sam to break up with her (though they do get back together at the end and still go skiing).
    • And stealing Tanya to film the Sharkodile attack video, which gets Leni fired.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Bobby disappears from the film after Rita picks him and Lori up from the side of the road after having been stranded there for a while after running out of gas.
  • Worst. Whatever. Ever!: Plenty of characters comment that this is the worst Christmas ever due to what Lincoln caused around him.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Lori's reaction after Bobby reveals they had food all along after being stranded in the cold on the road for several hours.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: Luna has her purple eyeshadow running heavily as she is crying from Sam breaking up with her.
