Frustrated by not being able to find a way home, Luz starts wandering the house at night, only to find Hunter reading, of all things, The Bible. What follows is an awkward discussion between Hunter and Camilla on issues like faith and humanity.

- Clone Angst: Hunter fears that being more or less a clone of Belos' dead brother, he's not an actual living thing. Camilla shuts this down hard.
- Crisis of Faith: Luz sees Hunter's obsessive reading of the Bible as this: serving Belos' was functionally being part of a religious cult. With that over, Hunter is trying to latch on to something else to fill a spiritual void.
- Cult: Luz observes that Belos' whole governing system operated in this manner, from having a deity to rally around to unquestionable obedience from followers.
- Fantastic Religious Weirdness: The central part of the story is a person from a magical world reading about human religion. Hunter reads the Bible and thinks of the Christian story of God as a literal fact rather than a religious myth.
- Oh, My Gods!: Titan is the supreme being who created everything in the Boiling Isles. Hunter refers to the Christian God as "a titan."
