There's No One Like You is a The Owl House fanfic by ElfieAfterDark
. It is a High School AU in which Luz and Amity are both seventeen, casting Amity as the "Queen Bee" of Hexside High School, and Luz as a delinquent who recently transferred in. Although their initial meeting is hostile, Luz and Amity quickly develop a bond and fall in love, entering a relationship. However, both of them have their own demons from the past, and as their relationship progresses, those demons come back to haunt them...

Tropes appearing in There's No One Like You:
- Abusive Parents: Odalia Blight, as usual, actually managing to be even worse than canon. While she maintains the verbal abuse and pressuring her daughter to act like an Alpha Bitch, this version also makes numerous mean-spirited shots at Amity's weight, and can occasionally react with physical abuse. Even worse, she has been sexually abusing and grooming her throughout much of her childhood.
- Adaptational Gender Identity: Luz is trans in this fic, with her deadname being Lucas. She was implicitly cisgender in canon.
- Adaptational Mundanity: While in canon Eda's "curse" is a literal curse that turns her into the Owl Beast, here she simply suffers from chronic pain and jokingly calls it a "curse".
- Adaptational Nonsapience: The fic's version of Hooty is a particularly disturbing sculpture on Eda's shop. Luz replaced it with a sign saying "The Owl House Consignment" before the start of the fic.
- Adaptational Villainy: Odalia Blight, Philip Wittebane, Terra Snapdragon, and Jacob Hopkins. While all of them were guilty of numerous atrocities throughout the series (especially Philip), none of them were outright pedophiles.
- Adaptation Name Change: Terra Snapdragon is here renamed Tara.
- Adapted Out: While most of the major characters from canon are transplanted into the story's more realistic setting, the fic contains no equivalent of King or Vee.
- Alpha Bitch: Amity calls herself the "Queen Bee" of Hexside, looking down on the less popular students and threatening those who annoy her. She hates it, though, and only acts in such a way due to Odalia's pressure. After her relationship with Luz is exposed, Amity quickly loses her status. She doesn't mind at all, finding it freeing.
- Batter Up!: Amity uses a bat to finally take down Odalia when she threatens an unconscious Luz with a knife.
- Big Sister Instinct: Both Amelia and Lucia have this for their respective siblings. Lucia supports Luz in overcoming her trauma from Camp Reality Check, and Amelia investigates Amity's "business trips" and tries to gather evidence on Odalia.
- Bulletproof Vest: Luz wears one during Odalia's trial, which turns out to have been Properly Paranoid when Odalia shoots her in the courtroom.
- Calling Your Orgasms: Amity tends to do this while having sex with Luz.
- Confession Triggers Consummation: Luz and Amity have Their First Time in the bathroom shortly after their confession and kiss during the school dance. It's Played With in that instead of immediately shifting into sex, the music triggers Luz's trauma and she flees the auditorium to attempt Self-Harm. Amity follows her and helps her calm down, and then they have sex.
- Cigarette of Anxiety: Luz, Gus, and Willow all smoke to cope with their various issues. By the end of the story, Luz is trying to quit.
- Crying After Sex: Happens a couple times between Luz and Amity, most notably after Luz lets Amity top. This is the first time Luz has given up control to someone since Camp Reality Check, and realizing that she's comfortable being vulnerable around Amity leads to her finally telling Amity she loves her.
- Decomposite Character: The fic goes with the common fan idea of Luz and Amity's concept art existing as their older sisters "Lucia" and "Amelia". Lucia and Amelia play a similar role, supporting their respective sisters in their trauma. The two eventually meet and fall in love with each other, getting married at the end of the fic.
- Depraved Bisexual: Amity is initially worried that Odalia will forbid her from dating Luz out of homophobia, but as it turns out, Odalia herself is bisexual. However, this is not a good thing. Odalia has been grooming Amity as a Sex Slave since childhood, has molested numerous other children, and is implied to have engaged in similar behavior to Amelia.
- Dirty Cop: The story is tagged "ACAB", standing for "All Cops Are Bastards". Luz runs afoul of several such officers while rescuing Amity from the Siren Hotel, who arrest her and return Amity to Odalia. They later allow Odalia to kidnap her directly out of the station.
- Erotic Asphyxiation: Amity at one point asks Luz to choke her while having sex. Luz's narration mentions that some of her previous partners liked this too.
- Hell Hotel: The Siren Hotel. It's the site of a child sex ring run by Odalia Blight and Philip Wittebane, catering to rich businesspeople from all over America. Amity, Hunter, and numerous other children are victims of it. It has a motif of various monsters such as manticores, and most of the "clients" wear monstrous masks that add to the horror. The children are forced to partake in the clients' most depraved fetishes, and are supplied with drugs that prevent them from remembering the hotel's horrors. Taking down Odalia and the Siren Hotel forms the climax of the story.
- High School AU: Downplayed Trope. While it's tagged as such and a good portion of the school is set at Hexside High School, just as much if not more takes place at home, dealing with Luz and Amity's families.
- The "I Love You" Stigma: Luz has difficulty saying or hearing the words "I love you" after her experience at Camp Reality Check, even from her family and close friends. They resort to saying it in Spanish- "Te amo"- instead. Hearing it over the music at the school dance sends Luz into a panic attack. She eventually manages to bring herself to tell Amity she loves her after allowing Amity to take control when they were having sex.
- Likes Older Men: Luz is mentioned to have entered numerous relationships with older men and women after leaving Camp Reality Check. One particular such partner named Kyle is repeatedly brought up, with it being mentioned that he was married and Luz didn't know.
- Making Love in All the Wrong Places: Luz and Amity have sex in a bathroom, a library, a closet, behind a gas station...
- Menacing Mask: The members of the Siren Hotel wear animal masks that both conceal their identities and intimidate the children who they prey on. Odalia wears a panther mask and Philip wears a deer mask, and Amity has nightmares about a cat and a deer.
- Modern AU Fic: Takes place on modern day (2020s) Earth.
- Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls: Luz writes The Good Witch Azura fanfiction. Early on, she mentions a hitwoman AU where Azura is an assassin. After seeing Amity, she decides to give Hecate green hair. This proves to be one of Luz and Amity's first positive interactions.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Camila's general reaction to learning what happened to Luz at Camp Reality Check, which she forced her daughter to go to.
- Mythical Motifs: Blight Manor and the Siren Hotel both have a motif of monsters, manticores specifically. It creeps Luz out, going with their theme of being figurative monsters who prey on the downtrodden.
- Parental Incest: Odalia has molested Amity on numerous occasions, although she doesn't remember it, and is implied to have engaged in similar behavior to Amelia.
- The Peeping Tom: Someone takes pictures of Luz and Amity having sex and spreads them around Hexside, exposing their relationship. Eventually, the culprit is revealed to be Boscha, who was jealous of Luz due to her own crush on Amity.
- Polyamory: Eda is married to both Raine and Camila. Later on, Camila and Raine fall in love too.
- Rape as Backstory: Luz was molested by Tara Snapdragon and Jacob Hopkins, two counselors at the summer camp she was sent to. Her trauma from this leads to numerous facets of her personality throughout the story.
- Repressed Memories: Amity has these from Odalia's abuse. To wit:
- When Amity knowingly eats an unhealthy cereal, Odalia, obsessive over Amity's weight, brutally beats her. Amity blocks this from her memory, unable to deal with the fact that her mother has abused her. She instead remembers slipping in some spilled milk. It's stated that this is not the first time Odalia has hit her and she's repressed it.
- Odalia often takes Amity on "business trips", which Amity remembers involving immensely boring classes where she learns how to run a corporation. However, in truth, Amity is being brought to a Hell Hotel called the Siren Hotel where she and various other kids and teenagers are raped by Odalia and her business partners.
- Self-Harm: Luz has been scratching her arms to the point of leaving countless scars in order to cope with the horrors of Camp Reality Check. She has managed to form a defense mechanism by wrapping her forearms in bandages, but still occasionally relapses.
- Sex Slave: Amity, Hunter, and numerous other children are used as this by the clients of the Siren Hotel. Amity in particular has been groomed for it for years by her mother.
- Slipping a Mickey:
- Jacob Hopkins and Tara Snapdragon pass out alcohol to the kids at Camp Reality Check to make them more compliant.
- All of the kids at the Siren Hotel sex ring are given both alcohol and certain drugs which will make them forget their experience.
- Summer Campy: Luz attended Camp Reality Check when she was fourteen. It was meant to get rid of her passion for fantasy and teach her to fit in. While initially appearing to be an ordinary, if rather boring summer camp, two of the counselors, Jacob and Tara, molest several of the children there, eventually raping Luz. Luz is only able to escape with the help of the other counselor Eda, who had no idea about her coworkers' activities. She still has trauma stemming from the camp years later.
- Title Drop: At the end, Luz proposes to Amity at Lucia and Amelia's wedding. Amity happily accepts, saying:Amity: Luz, there's no one quite like you.
- Wall Bang Her: Luz and Amity have sex this way at least once in a library. Luz, being trans in this fic, is the one pinning Amity to the wall.
- You Are Fat: Odalia constantly belittles Amity's weight, claiming she's "getting big at the waist". The story makes no indication that Amity is overweight, and it is simply more of Odalia's cruelty.
