Fanfic / JoJo's Alien Adventure

Go To

JoJo's Alien Adventure is a fanfic made by Bigby the Big Bad Wolf (the writer of Bleach: Ultimate Alien), and is a Crossover between Ben 10 and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, specifically parts 3 through 6.

Part 3: While enjoying some time off, a 16-year-old Ben Tennyson finds himself suddenly thrust into a new adventure. Somehow brought to Japan in 1989, he finds an arm growing out of his shoulder that no one else can see, except for a delinquent named Jotaro Kujo. With help from Jotaro's grandfather Joseph, Ben learns that the arm belongs to a unique power known as a Stand. However, it soon comes to pass that an old enemy of Jotaro's family has returned, and with only a matter of days before Jotaro's mother is killed by her own Stand, and Ben, whose Stand goes by Emerald Ace, joins the rest of Jotaro's allies in an attempt to defeat the sinister vampire DIO once and for all.

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Ben is undoubtedly a powerful fighter, thanks to the Ultimatrix, but his power is further improved by the simple fact that here, Ben becomes a Stand User. His Stand, Emerald Ace, works incredibly well with the Ultimatrix, as it too can use any alien Ben can use and use the Ultimatrix's Evolutionary Function. Finally, Ben and Emerald Ace, if both are alien form, can perform a Fusion Dance to morph into combined forms. Additionally, Joseph and Avdol, learning of DIO's interest in the Ultimatrix from Devo the Cursed, plan on training Ben in Hamon as a protective measure.
    • It can also be considered this trope in comparison to the previous time fusion aliens appeared, as when younger Ben tampered with the Omnitrix during his summer vacation, the Fusions such as Diamond-Matter and Heat-Jaws ended up being more a detriment to Ben. Thanks to the fusions happening without damaging the Omnitrix, the fusions are stable in a sense and can actually pull their weight in combat. However...
  • Adaptational Wimp: Ben doesn't have access to all his aliens in the beginning, instead limited to the original 10 he had (Heatblast, Diamondhead, Four Arms, XLR8, Upgrade, Ghostfreak, Ripjaws, Wildmutt, Grey Matter, and Stinkfly).
    • Justified by the fact that the setting is 1989, years prior to Ben getting the original Omnitrix. Since the Ultimatrix acts more like a wireless receiver for the Codon Stream on Primus and Ben didn't unlock several of his aliens like Spidermonkey or Swampfire until much later, the unlocked forms consisted of his original 10. Ben determines that had he been sent to a time prior to Primus's construction, the Ultimatrix would have been rendered entirely useless.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: A villainous variant. Because Ben was willing to give him treatment despite him instigating the battle, Polnareff decides to explain his Stand's speed-limiting armor.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Ben is the most averse to murder just as he is in canon, but DO NOT take that to mean that he will not be vicious to his opponents if they press his Berserk Button of harming innocent people or his friends. The imposter Captain Tennile, Forever, Devo, and Rubber Soul can all attest to Ben being more than capable of kicking ass, and Rubber Soul especially comes to regret it. When Rubber Soul engages in his Kick the Dog moment, it pushes Ben to the Rage Breaking Point and has him going into a Tranquil Fury mode, even making the stoic Jotaro feel unsettled, and ignores the Stand User's cowardly pleas for mercy at the end of the chapter.
  • Big "OMG!": Joseph, Avdol, and Jotaro have this reaction when Ben not only transforms into Four Arms, but reveals that aliens are real, with Joseph spelling it out loud.
    OH! MY! GOOOOOOOOOOOD!
  • Commonality Connection: Because the two are Americans who have been on wild adventures while also being very lighthearted and jovial, Ben and Joseph get along like a house on fire, with them telling each other their adventures.
  • Crossover Power Acquisition: Ben, after being transported, ends up a developing a Stand, and when it becomes clear that DIO has taken a vested interest in the Ultimatrix, Avdol and Joseph begin considering training Ben in Hamon.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In canon, Jotaro Kujo fights against the fake Captain Tennille with Star Platinum, using his newly learned Star Finger technique to stab him in the head and leave him to die. In the fanfic, though, it's Ben Tennyson who fights against him, fighting alongside Emerald Ace (who'd earlier turned into Ripjaws) as Heatblast, and the two perform a Fusion Dance to turn into Heatjaws. As such, Heatjaws heats up the water, boiling the fake Captain Tennille alive and launching him away.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Polnareff learns about Gwen, he is immediately struck by the idea of hitting on her, but when Ben reveals that she not only already has a boyfriend but is less than 18, he immediately backs off and apologizes.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Jotaro admits that Ben is more experienced than he is when it comes to the bizarre, trusting his judgement when he goes against the fake Captain Tennille alone and deferring to him when they first board Strength.
  • Foil: Ben and Jotaro serve as this to each other.
  • Fusion Dance: One of the main advantages of Emerald Ace. Alongside its ability to use all of Ben's forms, it also has the ability to merge with Ben if he is in alien form as well, similar to when the Omnitrix was damaged in Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray. Alongside the canon examples of Diamond Matter (Diamondhead and Grey Matter) and Heatjaws (Heatblast and Ripjaws), he also uses new combinations like XLRfly (XLR8 and Stinkfly).
  • Fusion Fic: Here, the Ben 10 and JoJo universes are fused together and take place in the same universe.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Ben lampshades how unfair it is that not only is Dio a powerful Stand user but also a vampire. Kakyoin reminds him that he's a Stand user that can turn into aliens.
Ben: Hey, I use my powers for good!
Kakyoin: Oh, so it's okay to be unfair as long as you use your powers for good?
  • Kiai: It's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, after all. Just as Jotaro has "ORAORAORAORAORA!", Ben develops one of his own: "HERORORORORORORO!"
  • Muscle Angst: Ben has this in spades. His average physique makes him look like a toothpick compared to the rest of the gang, and he also gets jealous of how easily they can grab girls' attention. He does start to make strides to improve himself, and he does know that Ben 10000 develops a similarly muscular physique; being around Jotaro and the others simply makes him want to accelerate the process.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Cousin variation. Ben is not happy with the idea of Polnareff getting in a relationship with his cousin Gwen, warning him to watch it before pointing she's not only got a boyfriend but is under 18.
  • Mythology Gag: There are references to Ben 10, mainly across the first two shows.
    • Emerald Ace is mentioned to have a visor similar to that of Ultra Ben
    • The Forever Knights are mentioned twice: once when Ben hopes that they, or other members of his Rogues Gallery, didn't get their hands on the Stone Mask, and when comparing them against Silver Chariot.
    • When encountering Tower of Gray, Ben notes how lucky he is that Clancy didn't have something like that.
    • Ben lies that he's okay after witnessing Kakyoin killing Tower of Gray, and the latter notes that Ben's left eye is twitching, a tic mentioned in "Good Copy, Bad Copy".
  • Personality Powers: Like other Stands, Emerald Ace is the manifestation of Ben's fighting spirit. However, Avdol deduces that the Stand also takes influence from Ben's Chronic Hero Syndrome and recklessness, as it impulsively acts if someone is in need (like when Jotaro was struggling against Magician's Red or when Gray Fly sent their plane crashing down, threatening the lives of everyone on the plane). His Kiai pretty much proves this.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: After the fight against Forever, the others learn what the orangutan's plan for Anne entailed, and they are all appalled. Polnareff talks of skewering Forever if he knew what the primate was planning, Kakyoin says he'd strangle him before Polnareff had the chance, while Avdol suggests incinerating the orangutan.
  • Precocious Crush: Due to Ben saving Anne from the shark this time, she develops a crush on him instead of Jotaro. It's more evidently shown here, as she repeatedly sticks to Ben like glue, and it helps that Ben is a more openly caring and kind person compared to Jotaro's Jerk with a Heart of Gold routine. When she's sent off to her family, this is shown, as she glomps Ben and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
  • Properly Paranoid: DIO is unsure of why Ben joins the Joestars, as while Kakyoin and Polnareff joined after they had their flesh buds removed and Avdol is a friend of Joseph, Ben has no real ties to the Joestars and, yet, chooses to fight alongside them. While Enya tries to reassure him that his assassins will be able to take care of Ben, DIO still insists on watching Ben as they encounter Forever, worried about the unknown individual. His paranoia is then justified when he sees the power of the Ultimatrix, particularly its evolutionary function.
DIO continued to stare at Ben's photo. Every time he looked at it, there was a nagging feeling in the back of his skull. Some primal instinct that was telling him there was something about the boy; something that made him almost as dangerous, if not unexplainably more so, than the Joestars. The sensation irked DIO to no end. He knew that there was more to this than simply Stand Users attracting one another and DIO wanted to know why.
  • Save the Villain: After Polnareff is seemingly defeated by Avdol, Ben decides to get him to a hospital, pointing out that he was willing to give Avdol a fighting chance, indicating his honor. As a result, Ben figures that Polnareff may give them a headstart before reporting his failure to DIO.
  • Tarot Motifs: Since Ben was sent to the time of Stardust Crusaders, his Stand follows the original naming system of Stands. Since all major arcana are taken in canon, though, he ends up getting associated with a card of the minor arcana; in his case, his creativity, confidence, enthusiasm, and courage has him associated with the Ace of Wands, thus his Stand gains the moniker of Emerald Ace.
  • Uncertain Doom: Kars' fate becomes this. While canon JoJo has no confirmation of sentient life on other planets, the JoJo and Ben 10 (which is entirely about alien life) universes are fused in this fic, and Ben and Joseph both wonder if he could have landed on another planet, and therefore return to normal.
  • Underestimating Badassery: DIO heavily averts this due to how unfamiliar Ben is to him, and is eventually proven right not to underestimate him when the Ultimatrix is revealed. However, his lackeys do engage in this:
    • Enya feels that Ben is no threat apart from being a friend of the Joestars (though does warn the Stand User assassins to be cautious because she doesn't know what his Stand is) until she watches him fight Forever alongside DIO, whereupon she immediately realizes that Ben is an unpredictable threat and swears to have him eliminated. However, she relents when DIO finds himself more interested in the Ultimatrix and using it to augment himself.
    • Rubber Soul, though, egregiously engages in this, despite knowing that Ben can turn into various aliens; keeping his Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy personality, he mockingly tells Ben that he can't do anything about Rubber Soul absorbing Jotaro and calls him stupid when Ben warns him that he has a weakness. By the time the chapter's done, Rubber Soul is left begging for mercy from the both of them.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Given that Ben showed up out of nowhere and chose to help his sworn enemies without much of a reason, DIO becomes more concerned about him and has his assassins be cautious about him, ordering them to take extra precautions as mentioned by Gray Fly and the fake Captain Tennille. After finding out about Ben's shapeshifting abilities with his fight against Forever, though, he takes an interest in the Ultimatrix, particularly its evolutionary function, and orders his assassins to bring him alive, intending to use its power to become Ultimate DIO.
