Fanfic / Heroes DxD: This is our story

Go To

Izuku Midoriya and Samuel D. Sigurd. Two different boys with the same dream: to become heroes! Together they will travel through the worlds of heroics, myth, and magic, all the while unaware of being part of something bigger, connected to their dreams.

Heroes DxD: This is our story is a My Hero Academia, High School D×D, and Kingdom Hearts crossover fanfic written by Supreme_king_Nero.

After the events of Chapter 18, the author began writing a spinoff that follows Sammy's time in the world of Infinite Stratos, titled Heroes DxD 1.3 A Fragmentary Stratos.

A second spinoff, titled Heroes DxD: The Key of Destiny and The String-Weaver of Death, was published after Chapter 59, focusing on the events of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.

    This is our story
  • Abhorrent Admirer: After her mass memory modification, Naminé (who now everyone thinks is Izuku's sister) gets one in Bakugo. She later gets another in Hitoshi Shinso.
  • Adapted Out: Due to the multiple crossover characters that join U.A.'s Hero Course, a good number of the canon hero students don't get to join the course.
    • From 1-A, apart from Ochako (who's merged with Xenovia), Ojiro, Kaminari, Koda, Sato, and Sero don't make it to the class, replaced by Sora, Houki, Laura, Irina, and Samuel.
    • From 1-B, Kaibara, Shoda, Honenuki, and Bondo are replaced by Kairi, Selena, Randy, and Charlotte.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: A slight one, but Izuku is a bit more bitter and snarky than in canon.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Inko is friendly with Miruko due to her brother being a former lawyer she was friends with.
    • Sora and Alice go from brief acquaintances to surrogate siblings.
    • Tinkerbell’s jealousy-laden crush on Peter Pan is here transferred to Sora.
    • Eraserhead and Vlad King are replaced by Bubble Girl and Chifuyu as 1-A and 1-B's homeroom teachers, respectively.
  • Adaptational Badass: Izuku gets Boosted Gear, the powers of a Pawn, his draconic inheritance, and is training to inherit One for All.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Members of Organization XIII (Axel and Larxene) appear at the end of Chapter 5, long before their canonical debuts.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Sir Nighteye. Good Satan, Nighteye. While he was a jerk in canon, here he downright hates anything related to the supernatural, to the point he tricks Mirio into attempting to kill Sammy and Yui, who didn't even KNOW he was a devil! The author specifically points to the Purifiers for inspiring Nighteye's personality.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: When the KH crew arrives at Halloween Town, Izuku mentions that Oogie Boogie will try to kidnap Santa Claus. When Riku states Santa doesn't exist, Izuku points out that he's a devil dragon that exists in two worlds at the same time, Riku's traveling between worlds made stories that come from Izuku's world, with Donald and Goofy in a spaceship made of blocks, and that devils and angels do exist in his original world. Riku admits Izuku has a fair point.
  • Aroused by Their Voice: Tinkerbell is clearly aroused when Sora’s voice changes with puberty.
  • Badass Israeli: Both Sammy and his sister Selena were born and grew up in Israel before moving to Japan and both are quite capable in a fight.
  • Beautiful Dreamer: One of Rias' favorite pastimes is to watch Izuku as he sleeps next to her. The fact that he cuddles with her at some point is a bonus.
  • Chick Magnet: Izuku and Sammy manage to earn the affection of multiple girls without trying.
  • Childhood Marriage Promise: Izuku had one with Irina, which didn't help his bitterness when she and her family left.
  • Composite Character: Several main characters are fused as part of the story.
    • Izuku has Issei's Boosted Gear and penchant to somehow have all sorts of girls want to jump his bones.
    • Sammy takes Saji's role as one of Sona Sitri's Pawns who is in love with his master.
    • Xenovia has Ochako's Quirk.
  • Delayed Reaction: When Sona's Peerage arrives home, dreading Sona's decision to cook, they are so relieved to see Sammy cooking that they don't see the connection until mid-dinner. Sammy lampshades it by counting down to the moment they finally realize it.
  • The Dividual: The White Dragon Empress is actually a pair of girls that fuse into one body when they transform into their armored form. They are also a pair of perverts.
  • Everyone Can See It: Everyone in the Destiny Islands knows that Sora and Kairi really like each other.
  • False Reassurance: When Yuuto apologizes to Rias for his attitude after the fight with Kokabiel, Rias answers that of course she forgives him... and then she leaves him to the (non-existent) mercies of Momo and Koneko, who aren't as keen to do the same.
  • Female Gaze: The White Dragon Empress happily comments on Izuku's, Sammy's, and Randy's rears.
  • Genre Savvy: Due to being connected to his MHA counterpart, KH!Izuku knows the plots of the Disney worlds he and his friends visit.
  • Groin Attack: After Kokabiel gets his mind trapped in the Ninjanomicon, Koneko tests if he's actually out of it by kicking him hard in the crotch.
  • He's Back!: Sammy recovers his human form and returns to Musutafu after the fight with Marluxia.
  • Ho Yay: There's something complicated between Izuku and Sammy.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Due to Sammy rushing through everything Castle Oblivion sends at him, Organization XIII orders Naminé to try and mess with Sammy's memories. Then Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Alice are taken to Castle Oblivion by Marluxia... and they still have their game skills because Naminé didn't have the time to attempt to mess with Sora's memories.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When All Might mentions he has the magazine issue with Bubble Girl wearing a bikini, Izuku and Sammy call him a pervert - even though they also have the same issue.
  • Identical Stranger: By some quirk of destiny, Midnight looks a lot like the Twilight Killer. Unfortunately, this causes Sammy (and Laura, due to their sharing memories) to have a Heroic BSoD that leads him to attempt to attack the teacher.
  • Lack of Empathy: Much like in other Nero stories, Aizawa has this.
  • Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: When Azazel makes a contract with Izuku for continued visits, the former offers him an All Might Soda Dispenser, a piece of merch so limited In-Universe that only two were made - and Azazel has both of them.
  • Loophole Abuse: When Irina returns under orders to get Excalibur Destruction back from Xenovia and kill her, Xenovia agrees - so she can join Rias' Peerage without issue. Also, since the orders to do so were rather open-ended, Irina took advantage of it to join U.A. as a Hero Course student.
  • Love Dodecahedron: The love lives of Izuku and Sammy are a bit of a mess. To wit:
    • Izuku is with Irina, Rias, Ibara, Nejire, and Rumi. Ravel is head over heels for him, but she's afraid of Rias and Rumi. Momo is interested in him, but not there completely yet. Koneko has a small crush on him but pretends that she doesn't. And Selena is 100% in love with him, but not making a move to join in yet. There's also Mina who thinks he's cute. Chloe also develops a crush on him during the Sports Festival.
    • For Sammy, he's dating Yui, Sona, Tsubaki, Aqua, Naminé, Houki, Laura, Cecilia, Charlotte, Kanzashi and Tatenashi, Maya, and Nejire are with him (Maya is a bit shy about the whole thing). And then there's Tabane who's in love with him, and Madoka who's obsessed with him. And whatever messed up thing he has going on with Kuroka, who he hasn't seen in about a year. And that's not to mention Gabriel and Serafall (Sona will not let her sister get her hands on Sammy over her dead body).
    • And then there are the complicated feelings Izuku and Sammy have for each other.
  • Magic Eater: During the fight with Scourge-Boogie (Oogie-Boogie's transformation due to Maleficent's magic), he fires a large blast of fire at Irina, Donald, and Goofy. Izuku (inspired by Sammy's ability to do the same) manages to absorb the entire blast and use the energy to defeat Scourge-Boogie in a Combination Attack with Sora and Riku.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: My Hero Academia and High School D×D form the core of the story, but there's more.
    • Kingdom Hearts: The story's B-plot consists of Izuku's and Sammy's counterparts in that 'verse getting involved in the games, with Izuku accompanying Sora while Sammy meets Aqua. Until the end of the Kingdom Hearts plotline, which brings Sora, Alice, Kairi and Naminé to Izuku's world.
    • Infinite Stratos: Sammy ends up crossing over to the IS 'verse due to Tabanane Shinono's manipulations. Several of its characters manage to cross over to Izuku's world before their world ends.
    • Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja: Randy shows up as Best Jeanist's nephew and Pony Tsunotori's friend, and the Ninjanomicon is a Sacred Gear.
    • Yakuza: Izuku gets involved in an investigation in the Kaburocho and Sotenbori districts.
  • Mythology Gag: The White Dragon Empress is as unabashedly perverted as Issei was in canon.
  • Point of Divergence: Izuku being with Sora, Donald, and Goofy helps push Riku into stopping working for Maleficent before he goes too far.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: The author was inspired by Hero Academia D×D.
  • Related in the Adaptation:
    • Downplayed, but KH!Izuku and Kairi are adopted siblings in this story.
    • Played straight with Mirko and Takayuki Yagami, who are full siblings.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Rias lets Izuku decide Raynare's fate here, who decides that she's not worth it. Right after, she receives a Fate Worse than Death as she's kidnapped and experimented on by Tabane Shinonono.
  • Sucky School: Randy's school. Bullies abound, the teachers range from bumbling to sadist, and nobody outside cares about it.
  • Take That!:
    • Canon takes several hits.
      • Canon!Izuku not taking the time to analyze One for All is mocked by Izuku and Momo as subpar writing. The same conversation also shoots at Canon!Bakugo's toxic behavior and how he's talked up by multiple characters in spite of it.
      • Becomes a Hypocritical Humor/Self-Deprecation moment when Izuku proceeds to talk Sammy up.
      • Played for Laughs with Ravel deriding how Canon!Ochako called Izuku "plain".
  • Teleportation: Irina's Quirk lets her do this by absorbing light and then creating a path with it.
  • Tempting Fate: Rias tempts Murphy twice in Chapter 31:
    • First, when Izuku brings Xenovia to the ORC clubroom, pointing out the danger the exorcist would be in if she would return to the church, and Yuuto suddenly says that she isn't going anywhere until he destroys her Excalibur, Rias (who both isn't very thrilled with Izuku's Chronic Hero Syndrome regarding Xenovia and knows about Yuuto's desire to avenge his comrades) groans "Can it get any worse!?" Cue Riser Phenex showing up.
      Rias: Fuck you, Murphy!
    • Not long after, after the Rating Game is set and Ravel adds an additional condition that, should Rias lose the Rating Game, Izuku would become Ravel's servant, Rias mentally asked what else Murphy has in store. Yui and Bubble Girl then suddenly fall into the clubroom from a magic circle, accompanied by a strange, transparent being, with Bubble Girl saying that she is going to kill Mirio herself now.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Nejire no longer considers Haya, Togata, and Amajiki her friends: the former because she treats her as little more than a decoration, Togata because he's so loyal to Nighteye he'll do whatever the hero asks of him (even if it means killing her), and the latter because he loves Togata.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 18: Sammy is seemingly killed. The next chapter reveals that he's alive, having been transported to another world.
    • Chapter 29: Irina is revealed to be a Princess of Light, is kidnapped by Maleficent who learned about her from KH!Bakugo but escapes, ends up in Traverse Town, and meets KH!Izuku. Also, after she was consumed by Darkness in "A Fragmentary Stratos", Rin's Nobody is found by the Organization and given the name Lynx: The Cataclysmic Dragon.
    • Chapter 56: A Gummi Ship with the girls from A Fragmentary Stratos appears in Tagobah Beach, bearing news of the death of their world - and that Sammy isn't there with them.
    • Chapter 73: The Sports Festival is about to begin and Tabane Shinonono suddenly shows up to welcome people to her Sports Festival.

    A Fragmentary Stratos
  • Adaptation Species Change:
    • Houki is revealed to be half fox youkai while Cecilia is at least half faery, which they awaken to thanks to Sammy's help.
    • Rin is part dragon, which shows in how much she hates Sammy for "killing" Ichika.
  • Adaptational Badass: Chifuya, Charlotte, Kanzashi, Tatenashi, and Laura were all badass in canon, but here they each have Sacred Gears. Hell, even Ichika has a Sacred Gear... which allows him to follow Sammy around even though he's dead.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Georg and Leonardo of the Hero Faction appear in Chapter 71.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While Lingyin "Rin" Huang in canon was a Yandere whose catchphrase was "Let's kill him/them!", she was generally in love with Ichika and got along well with the other girls most of the time. Here, because Ichika died, her positive traits all vanish, replaced with a burning hatred of Sammy, Ichika's quote-unquote "killer". Goes full on Adaptational Villainy, where she tries to downright kill Houki, Cecilia, and Kanzashi.
  • Chick Magnet: Even in another world, Sammy can't help but get girls to fall for him.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ichika dies in the first chapter, killed by a Stray Devil. He's still around, kinda, just as a spooky spirit who can only be seen and heard by Sammy and follows him around.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Averted and discussed. Yamada finds Sammy's experience with the Twilight Killer completely horrifying and has nothing but sympathy for him, but notes that most people would have this viewpoint.
  • Mythology Gag: After dealing with Rin's Heartless, Zexion and Lexaeus arrive to finish off an exhausted Sammy. Since everyone but Tatenashi is in no condition to fight, Xolotl makes an offer to Sammy that's similar to Ddraig's deal with Issei in Volume 2/Season 1, temporally gaining power and an imperfect Balance Breaker at the cost of Sammy's right hand.
  • The Nose Knows: Sammy's nose is quite sharp. Thanks to that, he's able to quickly see through Charles/Charlotte's Sweet Polly Oliver act.
  • It's All My Fault: Sammy blames himself for not preventing Ichika's death in the first chapter. He also doesn't take it well in not being able to help the Stray Devil, one implied to have been a victim of Diodora Astaroth, who attacks in Chapter 23.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 44: Rin's heart is consumed by Darkness and she transforms into a giant Heartless dragon... right in the middle of the IS tournament with an audience!
    • Chapter 65: It's revealed that Sacred Gears in the IS world could potentially corrupt the user's minds if they lack the will, most apparent in the Seven Destinies with Weeping Helena being the worst, as it actively seeks to control its user. And at the end of the chapter, Madoka awakens her Sacred Gear, Lance of Goral.
    • Chapter 73: Befitting the final of the spinoff, Tabane reveals that Slumbering Stratos, the world the spinoff takes place in, has been dying for the last 1000 years, and nothing can be done to avert it. Most of Slumbering Stratos' residents either die or were evacuated, Sammy's friends being among the lucky few, but Sammy and Ichika are unable to escape. Meanwhile, the Sammy in the Realm of Darkness manages to get Aqua to escape, along with Kari and Mikey, but the Laura with them disappears and becomes one with the main Laura, while Sammy is lost to the darkness. The chapter ends with Sammy making a promise to return home.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Sacred Gears from the IS world have the potential to corrupt the users' minds: Frost Extract and Weeping Helena are examples of such Gears.

The Key of Destiny and The String-Weaver of Death
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Discussed. Lynx admits that, due to lacking any and all emotions now that she's a Nobody, she can look back on many of her previous actions and, if she were capable of it, be mortified by them.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Lynx reveals that she used to watch Ichika while he was taking a shower. Axel bluntly calls it messed up.
