Go To

Glitter Force: Into the Glitterverse is a Parody fic of Glitter Force, as well as a crossover between several Pretty Cure series.

In this story, a mysterious infection known as the Glitter Force starts taking over the Cures' minds, so Nagisa and Honoka have to catch it and cure them.

Tropes

  • Accent Adaptation: Skye, the Glitter Force-rewritten version of Ciel, has a French accent. Doubles as an In-Universe Woolseyism, considering that the character spent time in France prior to the start of the show.
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Both the Smile and Doki Doki Cures are immune to being glitterized because they had been in the past, rendering them incapable of being reinfected.
  • Adapted Out: Aguri is nowhere in sight, while Regina takes the place of Cure Ace.
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: In canon, Tsubasa is never implied to be anything other than male. Here, he’s stated to have been born a girl, before transitioning into a boy.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Hugtan refers to Komachi as "Machi".
  • Affectionate Parody: Of the Glitter Force localization and its Dub Name Change habit.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: The primary villain is Glitterette, the personification of the Glitter Force, who mistreats the infected girls and brainwashes them to act as Glitters instead of Cures. On the other hand, we have Joker taking advantage of Glitterette's work, since the Glitter Force creates stronger Bad Energy than the Pretty Cure. The final battle ends up with Joker as the sole Big Bad by the end.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In Chapter 3, when the Glitter GoGos' attacks are screwing over the battle, Cure Happy comes in with her Happy Shower to save the day.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: In Chapter 4, Nora and Raina are noted to be talking about chocolate, butterflies, and chocolate butterflies.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In Chapter 4, the author takes a quick pause in the story to talk directly to the audience about how she would handle such an event.
  • Combination Attack: Cure Macaron and Cure Ace together can create a fire, macaron, and rose combo attack called the Rose Macaron.
  • invokedCorpsing: In the blooper reel, Nagisa messes up a scene by laughing at Honoka's "cute" face.
  • Crossover: Between the entire Pretty Cure franchise as of the penultimate chapter.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When the Glitterized Yes! 5 Cures all say a corny catchphrase after transforming, Cure Black snarks to Cure White, "this should be fun".
  • Death Is Cheap: Played for Drama: Not long after Joker is murdered, Glitterette uses a lot of her glitter to undo his death, weakening herself and freeing the Cures from the Glitter Force.
  • Dub Name Change: Fitting with the canon Glitter Force series, any Cure infected gets a new English name:

    • Ageha to Maggie.
    • Barely-Changed Dub Name: Compared to the others, Erica, Meg, Puff, Mari, Lana, Lulu, and Layla have very similar names to their originals. Meanwhile, Laura's first name is unchanged.
  • Deteriorates Into Gibberish: One blooper has Nora fail to choose between saying "awake" and "alive", and end up saying both at the same time, then devolve into just tongue-babbling.
  • Easily Forgiven: After learning about the Glitter Force and its effects on the Cures, Yuri is quick to forgive Erika for triggering her bad memories about losing Cologne.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Glitterette ends up seeing the error of her ways and ends up actually becoming a Cure herself in the penultimate chapter.
  • Evil Is Petty: In the blooper reel, after Glitterette scolds Erika for saying a curse word, Joker says an even worse swear just to piss her off.
  • Failed a Spot Check: The Happiness Charge team secures themselves from the Glitter Force by locking all the doors and windows. But they neglect the ventilation system, resulting in their discussion of African tribes turning into a group prom date teasing session, with a brief reference to Harriet S. Tubman.
  • Fearless Infant: Futaba isn't afraid of Joker, instead just finding him funny.
  • From Bad to Worse: Honoka says the situation is worse than she thought when she learns that all of the Yes! 5 Cures are infected. Cue a Zakenna attack.
  • Good Hurts Evil: The purification attacks from the Witchy Glitter Force make Joker nauseated.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Blooper 5: While Erika and Joker both say actual swears, the worst Minori can come up with is "Buttcheck".
  • Hilarious Outtakes: The final chapter is a series of these.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: In "The Sad Clown Paradox", Cure Moonlight stabs a sword all the way through Joker's torso.
  • Kissing Cousins: Kitty and Alex are cousins as members of the Glitter Force, as a Shout-Out to the first dub of Sailor Moon.
  • Lemony Narrator: Not in general, but it does become this briefly in chapter 4.
Now, dear readers, if there was ever to be a breakout of brainwashing in your area, my advice to you would be to round up your infected friends and try to keep them all in one place until you can figure out how to reverse the effects.

Unfortunately, Nagisa and Honoka failed to heed my advice.
  • Lighter and Softer: The Glitter Force invokes this on some of the girls. For instance, Mona's partner pixie is merely missing, as opposed to being dead, while Gracie has none of the angst that Nodoka has.
  • Like Is, Like, a Comma: Chelsea, the Glitterized version of Chiyu, slips into this in her first appearance.
  • Making a Splash: When they work together, Glitter Mermaid and Glitter Siren can create a huge jet of water called a Ripple Stream, which then rains down in heart-shaped drops.
  • Mysterious Middle Initial: Nora (the Glitter version of Nozomi) has the middle initial of H. Honoka questions what H stands for.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The Glitterised Saki/Sasha and Nozomi/Nora refer to Nagisa and Honoka as “Natalie” and “Hannah”, their names from their own series’ English dub. Later, Kurumi/Milly refers to Mana as "Maya", the name given to her in Glitter Force Doki Doki.
    • Yayoi's entry in the Pretty Cure Encyclopaedia mentions her favourite flower is the lily. What was the English name Glitter Force gave her? Lily!
  • invokedNever Work with Children or Animals: While trying to film a scene, in the blooper reel, Elle-chan, a toddler, gets distracted by Kanade's biscuits and wanders off set. Tsubasa is forced to go retrieve Elle-chan so they can finish filming the scene.
  • Ow, My Body Part!: After falling down in the blooper reel, Erika yells "Ow, my ass!".
  • Petal Power: Glitter Bouquet's Rose Bouquet Twister, which sends out a blast of rose petals.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Glitterette forces the Japanese Cures to take on English names, and refuses to let Saki/Sasha have curry bread because it's "too foreign".
  • Production Foreshadowing: In the blooper reel, Joker is interrupted by a car, and swears revenge on the driver; revenge that he would later attempt to get in Twinkling in the Dark.
  • Product Placement: Parodied; Helga (Hibiki) randomly bursts into a diner saying she just learned about product placement and gets the girls to play Mario Kart with her.
  • Sailor Earth: Rosemary is given a Cure form called Cure Fragrance/Glitter Perfume, who has fire powers.
  • She's a Man in Japan: Parodied with Tsubasa, who the Glitter Force changes into the female Robin.
  • Shirtless Scene: Parodied in the blooper reel; Majorina bursts into the bathroom and then is shocked that Joker is shirtless while in the bath.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title of the fic is based on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
    • Nods to other localizations:
      • Sasha asks for curry bread, but receives a whoopie pie, a la Episode 3 of Yo Kai Watch.
      • Setsuna's English name is Trista, the same name that DiC Entertainment gave to Setsuna Meioh.
      • Kitty and Alex being cousins is another nod to the original dub of Sailor Moon.
    • When Nagisa says Miki's name, the Glitterized Fresh Cures think she's saying "Mickey", and Lauren (Love) muses that Nagisa has been watching "too many Disney cartoons".
    • Glitter Peach has a catchphrase containing the phrase "just like a princess".
  • Slumber Party: In Chapter 15, the Glitter Force all have a sleepover together.
  • Southern Belle: Manatsu, a bubbly girl who loves makeup, is given a Southern accent while infected by the Glitter Force.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Joker’s appearance here after his death goes unremarked upon.
  • Valentine's Day Episode: The epilogue takes place on Valentine's Day. Fittingly, it was released on Valentine's Day 2023.
  • "You!" Exclamation: This is how Reika and Akane react to Joker's arrival in the story.
