Marianne Stone, (23 August 1922 — 21 December 2009), was a British character actress notable for having appeared in nine Carry On films.
She was often a victim of Typecasting, most frequently being cast as waitresses, landladies, secretaries, barmaids, or spinsters.
Her best-known roles were her Carry On appearances with her first being in 1959's Carry On Nurse as Alice Able and her final coming in 1975's Carry On Behind as Else. While many of her roles such as Mrs. Parker in Carry On Screaming! and the landlady in Don't Lose Your Head were One-Scene Wonders - and even being cut out of Carry On Matron all together - Stone got a bigger role than usual in Carry On at Your Convenience, as factory worker Maud, one of the film's key supporting players.
Outside of the Carry On... Series, she had a prolific film career and appeared in 201 films before she retired in The '80s when film offers stopped coming through.
She died at the age of 87.
