Film / All Coppers Are...

Go To

A 1972 British drama film about young London policeman (copper) Joe who falls in love with small-time crook Sue despite being married with children. The attraction is mutual and the two rivals struggle between the nascent romance and their duties to, respectively, the police force and the gang.

Directed by Sidney Hayers and starring Martin Potter as Joe, Julia Foster as Sue, and Nicky Henson as Barry. It also features Marianne Stone as the Distressed Woman in Pub and Robin Askwith as Simmy.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguous Ending: It's unclear whether Joe survives, or whether Barry gets away.
  • The Great British Copper Capture: The film ends with Joie (the policeman) getting shot in the stomach by Barry (the criminal who's also Joe's love rival) when trying to stop him from driving off with a lorry-load of stolen goods following the robbery of a warehouse.
  • Love Across Battlelines: Joe and Sue are, respectively, a copper and a gang member. Unfortunately for them, since Sue's gang and partner Barry are heavy on criminal activity, they clash a lot during the movie. Despite that, it's love at first sight for the two of them.
