John Houston Ingle (May 7, 1928 - September 16, 2012) was an American actor best known for Heathers (1988), General Hospital (1993-2012), and Death Becomes Her (1992).
While he had long career acting on stage, Ingle didn't start appearing in films and on TV until he was in his 50s. Before then he was also a high school drama teacher at Hollywood High School (1955-64) and Beverly Hills High School (1964-85), with a stunningly long list of famous students, including Albert Brooks, Nicolas Cage, Jamie Lee Curtis, Richard Dreyfuss, Carrie Fisher, Barbara Hershey, Julie Kavner, Swoosie Kurtz, Laraine Newman, David Schwimmer and Jonathan Silverman. He later worked with many of them when he switched to full-time acting, noting with amusement that, all those years later, they still refused to call him by his first name and referred to him as "Mr. Ingle."
He was married to Grace-Lynne Ingle and they had five children.
Ingle died in 2012 at the age of 84 from cancer.
