Cake Entertainment is a British entertainment and distribution company founded in 2001 by Genevieve Dexter (who previously worked at Consolidated, EVA Entertainment, Link Entertainment and Energee Entertainment and RTV Family Entertainment. It was originally set up as a independent animation consultancy set up to help independent companies with distribution of their shows. Later, Cake started being involved in actual production of various series as well (especially after merging with Tom van Waveren's Hoek, Line & Thinker Productions in 2006).
In August 2010, Genevieve Dexter sold her shares in Cake to her business partner Tom van Waveren.
In April 2011, it was announced that Zinkia acquired 51% percent of Cake; nevertheless, both companies still operated independently. However, in July 2014, Zinkia sold back their shares in Cake to the company's co-owners, Ed Galton and Tom van Waveren.
