Russell "Rusty" Collins / Firefist

Russell "Rusty" Collins was a mutant who could create and manipulate heat and flame. He joined with many of the big mutant teams, however he didn't stay with any of them for too long. He shared a long-term relationship with fellow mutant Skids before his untimely death.
Sally Blevins / Skids

Skids is a mutant who has the power to form force fields and has been romantically involved with the mutant Rusty Collins. She eventually ended up as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. sometime after M-Day.
Tabitha Smith / Boom-Boom

First Appearance: Secret Wars II #5 (November, 1985)
Tabitha is a mutant with the ability to create energy bombs of various sizes and intensity which explode upon impact. She ran away from home when her powers manifested and her abusive father tried to beat them out of her. Tabitha happened upon the Beyonder in his human form and bonded with him, and eventually wound up as a ward of X-Factor. She later joined the New Mutants and would go on to become a founding member of X-Force.
Takeshi "Taki" Matsuya / Wiz Kid

First Appearance: X-Terminators #1 (October, 1988)
Dyslexic & aphasic, Wiz-Kid was a wheelchair-bound, mutant, technopath. Taki assisted in stopping N'astirh from fusing Limbo to Earth together forever during Inferno.
- Asian and Nerdy: He's Japanese-American and incredibly smart, even without his technopathy.
- The Bus Came Back: After being gone for years, he returns during Reign of X's S.W.O.R.D. (2020) as a member of The Six.
- Genius Cripple: Wheelchair bound yet not someone to be underestimated.
- Child Prodigy
- Cool Chair: He returns with a hovering chair like the ones Charles Xavier used during the 90s.
- Fanboy: He's shown to be very excited at meeting Magneto in person.
- "L" Is for "Dyslexia"
- The Mole: For Henry Peter Gyrich. A later issue reveals he's actually a Double Reverse Quadruple Agent pretending to betray S.W.O.R.D. under orders from Abigail Brand.
- Parental Abandonment: Lost his parents (and his ability to walk) in a car accident.
- Put on a Bus: He was supposedly depowered after not appearing for over two decades, but in fact used his abilities to alter S.H.I.E.L.D.'s databases to hide the fact he still had them.
- Smart People Wear Glasses: Wears rounded spectacles and is pretty smart.
- Super Wheelchair: His hoverchair has several inbuilt gadgets, including two massive BFGs he can use to defend himself.
- Technopath: He has the ability to psionically technoform and rearrange parts of machinery into various forms and functions of his specifications. This ability can affect metal, plastic, and glass. He's even capable of affecting Organic Technology.
- Twofer Token Minority: He is a handicapped Japanese-American mutant kid.
New Team
Nathan Christopher Summers / Cable

The once-mysterious Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) is Cyclops' time-traveling son who was infected with the deadly techno-organic virus during his infancy, which he keeps at bay using his advanced psionic powers. At one time a founding member and leader of the militant team called X-Force, previously known as the New Mutants, Cable takes the aimless youths under his wing and whips them into fighting shape in order to prepare them for future threats.
Samuel "Sam" Zachary Guthrie / Cannonball

First Appearance: Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (November, 1982)
The son of a coal miner from rural Kentucky, and felt obliged to take his place at the mine himself after his father died. After his powers emerged during a cave in his employer Donald Pierce gave him a new job as a bodyguard, but left and joined the New Mutants after it became clear the man was a murderer. Despite being a salt-of-the-earth and often naïve young man he is quite intelligent and well-read by ordinary standards. Comes from a large farm family, and all of his many siblings are also mutants. Cannonball releases extremely powerful blasts of chemical energy from his feet and arms that allow him temporary flight and invulnerability and energy blasts. Served as a member of The Avengers.
