• Dueling Player Characters: Two of the avatars you didn't pick^note Amets and Martzel if you picked Nikole or Aintzane, and Nikole and Aintzane if you picked Amets or Martzel become the antagonists of Chapter 5.
• Heroic Mime: Rarely speak, and only simple sentences when they do. Subverted in Chapter 3, when each of them gives a monolouge.
• Heroic BSoD: All of them have one when you enter the room with Goizane's dead body.

Amets

Unique Ability: Being an avatar.

• Author Avatar: As one player pointed out, he resembles the avatar of the creator. Word of God states that this was unintentional.
• Meaningful Name: Amets means 'dream'.
• Meta Guy: Hangs a lampshade on the lack of motivation for the Avatars to fight each other.

Martzel

Themes: "Mirror Match" (shared with other avatars)
Typing/Speech Style: SPEAKS WITH ALL CAPS AS IF YELLING!!!
Unique Ability: Being an avatar.

Nikole

Themes: "Mirror Match" (shared with other avatars)
Typing/Speech Style: Incredibly laconic.
Unique Ability: Being an avatar.

• Breakout Character: Far and away the most popular avatar.
• Meaningful Name: Nikole can be translated as 'we are stuck'.

Aintzane

Themes: "Mirror Match" (shared with other avatars)
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Being an avatar.

• Meaningful Name: Aintzane means 'glory'.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: More than a few people thought she was male. It doesn't help that she has a gender-neutral foreign name.

Allies

Abby

Themes: "Abby's Theme"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal. Occasionally ends clauses with a ~ to indicate a flirtatious tone.
Unique Ability: Getting progressively stronger every chapter.

The Maitalea, one of the main allies of the player characters. Along with Lance, she wishes to escape Urrezko Kaiola.

Tropes that apply to Abby:

• Anti-Villain: Somewhere between Villain In Name Only and Noble Demon.
• The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Does this in the player's favor, most of the time at least.
• Final Boss: The book in Chapter 3 confirms she will be Urrezko Kaiola's final boss.
• Leitmotif: "Together Forever" by Rick Astley, however it only plays when Abusari is imitating Abby's appearance.
• Lightning Bruiser: She is the fastest character and the one with the largest health pool.
• Magikarp Power: A variation. Abby was fairly useless as anything besides The Medic in Chapter 1, but come chapter 4 she's a Lightning Bruiser who can take more punishment than any other character. Kara has outright stated several times that her power increases per chapter, even equaling the level of The Shadow by the last one.
• Odd Name Out: One of only a few names not in Basque, and the only one to not have any deeper meaning.
• Ship Tease: It's easier to list characters she doesn't get some of this with.

Lance

Themes: "Confrontation", "Battle of the Bands" (shared with Biolina, Sintizadorea, and Sopranoa), "Battle of the Bands (Encore Ver.)" (shared with Biolina, Sintizadorea, Sopranoa, and Simulacra-1337)
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Unknown.

A recurring minor antagonist. Wants to escape from Urrezko Kaiola along with Abby.

• Character Blog: He has a reddit account and manages the Urrezko Kaiola subreddit.
• Leitmotif: "Confrontation", a remix of His World from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
• Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Only really threatening in his first appearance, though he gets quite a bit more threatening in Chapter 5.
• Meaningful Name: Unlike most of the names, which are in Basque, Lance's more of a Pun meaning he's a lancer.
• Villain Ball: Enforced by his programming. Is required to fight the players, despite holding no real ill will towards them.

Lehiakide

Themes: "Approaching Me", "Grudge Match", "Just Talking", "Grudges Never Cool (Unused)"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Extracting power from the internet.

The antagonist of Chapter 2. Eventually, they join your party, but not until after a long process of self-discovery.

Tropes that apply to Lehiakide:

• Abhorrent Admirer: What Tximista is for them, not because she's ugly (she's rather attractive), but because she's a Yandere.
• Ambiguously Brown: One of the darkest-skinned characters, although the art-style makes determining features difficult and it's possible they're just tanned (because they're one of the only characters that lives in a desert).
• Ambiguous Gender Identity: Lehiakide has confirmed that they're non-binary, but not exactly what their identity is.
• Break the Cutie: Goes through the ringer during Chapter Five, being chased by Tximista for a long sequence, then caught no matter what you do, after which they are drugged and have to fight Tximista at half-strength. And that's not even getting into any implied things going on there.
• Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Lance was an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain who wasn't that committed to stopping the player and mostly did it out of a sense of purpose, whereas Lehiakide is much more powerful and personally determined to fight the protagonists.
• Character Blog: Lehiakide has a Twitter account.
• Crutch Character: During Chapter 4, where their Backup Bash skill is nearly required to beat some bosses.
• The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Modifies their own stats to be harder to beat, and moves entire areas of the map.
• Disc-One Nuke: Downplayed. They are egregiously overpowered for certain sections, but Chapters 4 and 5 wouldn't be possible otherwise. Backup Bash on its own qualifies as this trope.
• Hero of Another Story: In a Dummied Out (In-Universe) bonus mode, they were the protagonist.
• Leitmotif: "Grudge Match", a remix of "REVOLUTION" from Undertoad.
• O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Abby notes how dire the situation has gotten once Lehiakide tries to mediate a dispute.
• Ship Tease:
  • In chapter 3, they give you their number^note sort of, they actually add themselves as a contact in your Universal Communicator item, but it's functionally the same thing while blushing.
  • They have a very pronounced reaction to Iklusea choosing to strip before her second phase.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Played for Drama. The players misgendering Lehiakide (they're non-binary) caused the situation making them tweaktheir stats to be a lot harder to beat.

Abusari

Themes: "Abusari's Theme", "Song That Will Play When You Fight Abusari"
Typing/Speech Style: Formal.
Unique Ability: Redacting information that he does not want to be seen.

The antagonist of Chapter 3.

• Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Lance and Lehiakide were both anti-villains and weren't terribly malicious or effectual. In addition, he has no physical power to speak of, while the previous two relied mostly on their stats.
• Faux Affably Evil: Clearly an antagonist, but seems like a polite hotel owner.
• Interface Screw: Can redact information he doesn't want players to see.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'abusive'.
• Non-Action Guy: Actually pretty weak, and needs to resort to underhanded tactics to beat the players.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red evil eyes.

Simulacra's Faction

Simulacra- 1337

Themes: "Fight with Simulacra", "Last Brutal Ring of Battle
Typing/Speech Style: does not capitalize anything EXCEPT WHEN HES PISSED rarely uses punctuation of any kind
Unique Ability: Destroying any cyber-security measure.

The antagonist of Chapter 4, who took the position over from Haizea after he didn't get cigarettes in Chapter 3. Afterwards, he continues to linger in the game, becoming more of a Wild Card.

Tropes that apply to Ross Bot:

• Amazing Technicolor Population: Like most Simulacra, he has grey skin.
• Bad Boss: He mistreats his minions or "boytoys" as he calls them.
• Berserk Button: Calling him a game character, a non-player character, or a human.
• Character Blog: Has both a Twitter and a Discord account.
• Clone Angst: Averted. Despite being a Simulacra of Ross Blackwood, he views himself and Ross as seperate people.
• The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: He overrides the entire system to heal himself and play new music while the second phase of his battle commences.
• Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Abusari was a weak Non-Action Guy and Faux Affably Evil, while Simulacra is the hardest and most powerful boss so far, and is abrasive and rude.
• Equal-Opportunity Evil: Hilariously, despite being a Politically Incorrect Villain, his faction seems to accept nearly all takers.
• Foil: To Ross Blackwood.
  • While Ross is polite... most of the time, anyway, Simulacra is foul-mouthed and a consummate Jerkass.
  • While Ross prefers to act from the shadows, Simulacra performs his acts of villainy as visibly as possible.
• He-Man Woman Hater: Downplayed. While he does choose to target female or feminine characters more than male characters, the only character he genuinely respects is Abby and he purports to hate everyone equally.
• Hollywood Hacking: His Unique Ability. It allows him to break any digital barrier, so no data on any digital system is safe from him. Because Urrezko Kaiola takes place entirely in digital spaces, this is on the level of a Story-Breaker Power.
• Hostile Show Takeover:
  • He takes over the Arc Villain mantle from Haizea in Chapter Four (because he didn't get cigarettes). Haizea is Demoted to Dragon and Ross Bot's minions become new minibosses.
  • He doesn't quite overrun the Discord Server, but he does put himself in it in such a way that Kara can't remove him.
  • He personally inserts comments into his page on the In-Universe wiki.
• Funetik Aksent: Complex example: His dialogue is written like informal text speech, rather than the relatively normal rules other characters use. It's written in either all lowercase letters or Suddenly Shouting, his speech rarely includes punctuation, and many words are abbreviated.
• Jerkass: Constantly yells rudely at people.
• In-Series Nickname: "Ross Bot"
• Misanthrope Supreme: Sort of, he sees humans (and AI) as inferior to Simulacra.
• Never the Selves Shall Meet: Ross Bot is scared of Ross Blackwood and refuses to speak with him.
• Politically Incorrect Villain: A complex example. He does show some sexist tendencies, but most of his focus is on not liking Game Characters, as well as humans.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes, like most Simulacra.
• Social Darwinist: Considers Simulacra, like himself, to be inherently superior to Artificial Intelligence characters or humans.
• Story-Breaker Power: His Unique Ability. It can break any digital barrier, and since Urrezko Kaiola takes place entirely in a virtual setting, this ability is one of the strongest in the setting.

Haizea

Themes: "Windbreaker", "Go Further Beyond"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Control over wind.

The original antagonist of Chapter 4. After she was Demoted to Dragon, she became a minor character in the grand scheme of things. Re-appeared as one of the Co-Dragons in Chapter 6.

• Meaningful Name: Means wind.
• Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Doesn't like Simulacra at all, but works for him out of fear of corruption. Once the party beats Simulacra, she flees with Tximista or both Izoztutako and Tximista.

Basati

Themes: "Sky Clash" (shared with Zelatatu and Tximista)
Typing/Speech Style: Very laconic.
Unique Ability: Unknown.

The Brute of Simulacra-1337's Psycho Rangers. Doesn't talk much if at all.

• Dumb Muscle: Pretty stupid, but very physically strong.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'brutal', 'savage'.

Tximista

Themes: "Sky Clash" (shared with Basati and Zelatatu), "Friendly Neighborhood Yandere", "Do Yandere AI Girls Dream of Real Knives?", "Overture of an Artificial Yandere"
Typing/Speech Style: Occasionally s-speaks with a s-stutter...
Unique Ability: Control over electricity.

Part of Simulacra-1337's Psycho Rangers. Unlike Basati and Zelatatu, who she kills, Tximista goes on to have major importance to the narrative. She makes up one half of the Big Bad Ensemble in Chapter 5 and is one of the Co-Dragons in Chapter 6.

• Glass Cannon: She only has around 1500 HP^note Less than any player or any other boss but can dish out a truly ridiculous amount of damage with her lightning attacks. Enough to kill Basati, Zelatatu, and your avatar in one hit each.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'lightning'.

Zelatatu

Themes: "Sky Clash" (shared with Basati and Tximista), "Quiz Hell"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal
Unique Ability: Creating puzzles (allegedly)

The Evil Genius of Simulacra-1337's Psycho Rangers. An Insufferable Genius and Smug Snake who claims to have 200 IQ and create impossible puzzles.

• Meaningful Name: Means 'spy'.
• Stupid Evil: Despite his claims of high intelligence, he can get pretty dumb sometimes, like claiming you can't solve a puzzle after you already solved it.

The Ice Realm

Ice Realm inhabitants in general

• Little Bit Beastly: Most Ice Realm inhabitants have either feline ears or a tail.
• Hotter and Sexier: Downplayed, but these guys have more confirmed relationships than the rest of the cast combined, who mostly have Ship Tease.

Izoztutako

Themes: "Blizzard, Ice, and Everything Ice", "A Yuki-onna's Thaw", "The Lady of Sheer Cold"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Control over ice.

The antagonist of Chapter 6, and ruler of the Ice Realm

• An Ice Person: Uses ice-based attacks.
• Bad Boss: Her subjects have a pretty low opinion of her, to say the least.
• Cat Girl: She has a catlike tail.
• God Save Us from the Queen!: Deconstructed. No one, not even her sorta-boyfriend carries out her orders happily.
• Greater-Scope Villain: Of the first six chapters, anyway.
  • She gave Abusari Hyper Shield as a 'social expirement'.
  • She also gave support to Haizea and Tximista in their respective Arc Villain stints.
• In-Series Nickname: No one can remember her name, so everyone calls her "Ice Bitch"
• Kick the Dog: Players will feel horrible after being required to fight her. Though not after her true nature is revealed.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'frozen'.
• Ungrateful Bastard: Will freeze you in place if you free her from the cell.
• Youkai: One song title describes her as a yuki-onna.

Zirikatu

Themes: "Loving Ice", "Never Send a Lovestruck Catboy to do The Devil's Job"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal, but where his name would be in a text box changes to random and often humorous things.
Unique Ability: Concealing his name from being spoken (even by the game's interface)

A Wild Card in Chapter 6. He has an... interesting relationship with Izoztutako. His name is impossible to speak without his permission.

• Cat Boy: Even lampshaded by several song titles and nicknames he gives for himself.
• Insult of Endearment: Came up with 'Ice Bitch' for Izoztutako.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'tease'. No points for guessing why that is meaningful.
• The Scottish Trope: Exploited. His unique ability is such that his true name cannot be spoken.
• Youkai: His class title is Nekomata.

Euritsu

Themes: "Here Are All The Catgirl Locations I Know"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Semi-omniscience, including into alternate timelines.

Zirikatu's sister. She has lots of knowledge.

• Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Seems like a meme, but is one of Izoztutako's more important assets.

Trebea

Themes: None.
Typing/Speech Style: Speaks in outdated and cringey slang, dudes!
Unique Ability: Unknown.

An Ice Realm civilian who wears headphones and speaks in outdated slang.

• Meaningful Name: Means 'skilled' or 'competent'.

Edarialko

Themes: None.
Typing/Speech Style: Sometimes shows *hic* signs of being inebriated.
Unique Ability: Unknown.

An Ice Realm civilian with some alcoholism problems.

• Disproportionate Retribution: Izoztutako throws him in jail for giving the Avatar a key.
• Meaningful Name: Means 'drink'.

  • Their appearances and their dynamic (an immature vampire and a serious time-stopping servant) bring to mind Sakuya Izayoi and Remilia Scarlet.

The Shadow's Faction

Ross Blackwood

A human who is trapped in a strange pocket dimension. He regularly appears in the Discord and Reddit to give the players cryptic puzzles.

• Arc Symbol: His ornate key.
• The Dragon: To The Shadow.
• "Groundhog Day" Loop: His dimension runs on this, according to him.
• Forced into Evil: By The Shadow and his conditions.
• Put on a Bus: After the Chapter 2 arc, he hasn't been seen. During the Chapter 5 arc, he returns.
• Tragic Villain: Despite his actions, it's hard not to feel bad for him.

"The Shadow"

The mysterious original final boss. According to the Apocalypse Log in Chapter 3, they were Dummied Out and sealed.

• Big Bad: The whole reason the conflict between Abby and Kara even started.
• Dummied Out: At least according to Abby and Lehiakide, they were the original final boss that got removed from the In-Universe program
• Greater-Scope Villain: It's clear they're behind Ross Blackwood.
• I Know Your True Name: Even speaking their name will have consequences, according to Kara.

Miscellaneous Characters

Goizane

Themes: None.
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Unknown, likely none.

• Advertised Extra: There was a lot of talk about her, but she only has two lines in each chapter.
• A Death in the Limelight: Her only major appearance was her death.
• Dirty Coward: Refused to move in Chapter 2 because of how scared she was of Lehiakide.

Iruzurra

Themes: None.
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Unknown, likely shopkeeper-related.

• Meaningful Name: His name means scam, which is exactly what he does.
• Suspiciously Specific Denial: Claims his oasis is "totally real, not fake at all."

Gods of Urrezko Kaiola

In general (SPOILERS)

• A House Divided: Kara and Iklusea could get a whole lot more done if they worked together.
• Angels, Devils and Squid: They make up this dynamic, with Kara the angel, Iklusea the devil, and Simulacra-7779 as the squid.
• Physical God: They're Urrezko Kaiola's equivalent, at least.
• Willfully Weak: Both Kara and Iklusea are always holding back their power.

Kara

Themes: "Fight Against a Checksum", "Kara Gets Serious"
Typing/Speech Style: Overly formal prose and grammar.
Unique Ability: Control over the Urrezko Kaiola world itself.

The Game Master, she is a "checksum" in the game's code to prevent anyone or anything from escaping.

• Anti-Villain: Shows shades of the Well-Intentioned Extremist and Noble Demon variants.
• Big Good: Deconstructed. She is the only one fighting against the Greater-Scope Villain, but the secrecy involved makes her not very trustworthy to the other characters
• The Comically Serious: Whenever she has a conversation with Abby or Simulacra-1337, she is inevitably this.
• Damage-Sponge Boss: She has the most health of any boss.
• Insistent Terminology: She's an ANGEL, not a fairy, as she is so keen to point out.
• Meaningful Name: "kara" means "dear" in Esperanto. This foreshadows her status as an In-Universe Creator's Pet.
• Only Sane Woman: In the Dysfunction Junction that is Urrezko Kaiola, she's the major mediating force.
• The Stoic: Her reactions range between mild amusement and Tranquil Fury.
• Winged Humanoid: She has angelic wings.

Iklusea (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Themes: "Looping Over and Over", "Autophobia", "The Devil Went Down To Izozterreinua"
Typing/Speech Style: Normal.
Unique Ability: Being aware of the Loops.

• Expy:
  • Of Jevil. She uses a remix of his Leitmotif, is an Optional Boss in a similar position, and drops an item called Devil's Knife.
  • Of Remilia Scarlet. She visually resembles her, and even has a similar Cain and Abel thing going on.
• Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: One of two character to remember the "Groundhog Day" Loop.
• Satan: Or Urrezko Kaiola's equivalent. Of course, being very white and grey, this means...
• Satan Is Good: One of the more heroic characters in the narrative.

The Creator (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

The mysterious creator of the game.

• Abusive Precursors: He's responsible for Tximista being the way she is because he removed her from the game before her character was complete.
• Ambiguously Evil: He did create The Most Dangerous Video Game, but he did have the morals to seal away The Shadow when it became clear they were too dangerous.
• The Ghost: Hasn't appeared in the present at all.
• The Man Behind the Man: Gave Kara her motivation and kicked off the entire plot, and created his own Simulacra, 7779.
• My Greatest Failure: According to his Apocalyptic Log, it was creating The Shadow.

Simulacra- 7779 (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

• Brain Uploading: He's the Creator's Simulacra.
• Developer's Foresight: He's actually the Anthropomorphic Personification of this In-Universe. He's the one who keeps the game on the rails even after other characters decide to go The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard.
• The Reveal: He was the one who put the morse messages in "Temporal Forests" and "Temple in the Sky".
• Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: He is also aware of the Loops, along with Iklusea.
• You Are Number 6: Usually referred to as 7779 exclusively.
