The Infinite Defense

    Callista O. Wilson-Mettalium

Callista O. Wilson-Metallium

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/callistaresized_3.png
Her hybrid form. note

"You listening, Infinite Defense? Let's bruise his ego."

A cheerful competitor with the Pokémorph Fighting League, possessing the ability to transform into a mutant Delcatty hybrid at will. Has a colorful past and a complex personality that hides a broad assortment of personal issues. Hosts a Mind Hive with Kaoru and the Copycats. Is the central protagonist of Taking Out the Trash.

  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: Her hybrid form's claws increase in sharpness the faster they move, letting her vaporize almost any substance by slicing each individual atom. Callista implies during TotT that she's able to rip apart reality when fully transformed.
  • All Women Are Prudes: Always dresses conservatively, actively shuns marriage and sex due to an incident in her past, and carries a modified pair of sunglasses that censor out anything she deems indecent. For Circe's wedding she even takes steps to avert the outcome of Clothing Damage, warping reality to hide the fact that she's wearing an extra set of clothes beneath her dress in case the latter gets destroyed.
  • Beast Man: Has the ability to turn into a Delcatty-esque humanoid creature, which in turn opens up the bulk of her power-set.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Hates being called a cow, and will mistake cow-related comments spoken nearby as being directed at her specifically, similarly to Buggy the Clown. Looking at her initials, it's not difficult to see why.
    • As she is eager to remind Zapana, she does not like having profanity directed her way.
    • Is angered when people work the Defeat by Modesty angle, as Ellen did during her brief encounter with some livid wedding guests.
    • Is infuriated when Acutus flaunts her assets and mocks her abilities in front of her.
  • Big Eater: When she's not shopping, she's eating. On her shopping trip with Bahija, the amount of food she puts away is the subject of a Long List.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Her hybrid form is based in part on a species of cat aliens from another universe. As such, she lacks any sort of Secondary Sexual Characteristics that humans would recognize, and is physically incompatible with them in all respects. The only real way to tell whether she's male or female is by her voice. None of this applies to her normal state.
  • Celibate Hero: Is bound and determined to remain a bachelorette her entire life, having no desire to form any romantic attachments.
    "Singleness forever!"
  • Cool Shades: Has a pair of these that were modified by the Infinite Defense per her request. The shades' purpose is to censor out anything the wearer deems indecent.
  • Cool Starship: One of her modes of transportation is the Pyro-GX Space Fighter, which is cool by default.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • When attending a wedding, she wears her standard jeans and T-shirt beneath her dress while hiding any evidence of their presence, intending to have a backup in case the dress was damaged. This comes to pass.
    • Years before TtoT's events, she hid a cache of soda pop inside a recreation center while it was under construction in case she'd need to use it later.
  • Ditzy Genius: Is normally a very capable individual in everything she sets out to do, but she has her quirks and moments of airheadedness. Chief among these is forgetting that her human anatomy doesn't fully transfer to her hybrid form, leading her to lose a practice bout against Zapana and to drift close to a nervous breakdown against Marc.
  • Gender Bender: Was born a male human named 'Curtis'. After being turned into a mutant Kittenoan, he later used a wish-giving magic crystal to regain his humanity at the cost of a permanent gender-swap. Discussed by the nurses at St. Dogbert's hospital when they were clarifying to a patient that swapping genders didn't automatically mean that the subject was considered transgender.
  • Genki Girl: Becomes a human force of nature while on a shopping trip, her one-girl assault on a mall being akin to a blitzkrieg. It's only after she's had her initial fill of shopping that she starts calming down and behaving rationally. It's implied that the only reason she's able to get away with her actions is because Zapana pays for her purchases after she leaves.
  • Glass Cannon: For all that her power-set is broken, she's still terrible at taking hits if her opponent can keep up with her. She briefly crumples like aluminum foil after getting gut-punched by Marc's Powered Armor, and in her practice bout with Zapana, she gets demolished in only three moves.
  • Heel Realization: Goes through one after Claire playfully calls her "mother", realizing that she'd been too self-centered and free-spirited to give the maid the attention she deserved. After Circe's failed wedding, she officially acknowledges her as her child and begins keeping in regular contact with her.
  • Hidden Depths: Her bizarre shopping habits, prudishness, chaotic nature and zeal for life do a terrific job of hiding the fact that she never stops thinking, as well as her moral code and the high value she places on friendship and responsible power management.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Wanted to return to being a normal human badly enough that she was willing to sacrifice her entire power-set and all of its benefits to do it. This later became moot when, thanks in part to Raleigh, she regained all of her powers and then some anyway.
  • Ludicrous Mêlée Accuracy: Callista takes this to the logical extreme with her Quantum Cutters technique. At their best, they are capable of reducing something to a fine mist by being both fast and accurate enough to cut through each individual atom.
  • Made of Explodium: For reasons unelaborated in the setting beyond "making raspberries in the face of local reality", Callista's root beer can function as a time bomb.
  • Morph Weapon: Shape-Shifter, her weapon of choice when she doesn't feel like using her claws. By default it takes the form of a purse, but it is also depicted turning into a serving tray, a flaming longsword, and a rainbow-edged scimitar that fires elemental attacks.
  • Non-Idle Rich: It is implied that Callista is not lacking for money, given Kaoru's comment of "fifteen closets across three universes" and the fact that her base of operations for Muffinville is situated within the seventeen kilometers-long Mungojerrie. Nonetheless she stays active, always out and about whether she's just doing stuff at random, shopping, or fighting in the PFL.
  • Older Than They Look: The series starts in 2020 and Callista makes references to events that she was present for in the early-to-mid 1990s, whereas she looks like someone in their late adolescence.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: Momentarily mistaking Marc for the escaped convict who tried to rape her twelve years previous is what gets Callista to activate Nine Lives Emergence and put him on the defensive. Acutus, who not only lusted after her but made the mistake of dropping her guard, got it worse.
  • Reality Warper:
    • Is able to actively shape reality to her will by treating it like a computer program, manipulating it as if it were binary. It has limitations, however, as it's implied that deities such as Viridi can negate it entirely.
    • While on a shopping trip with her, Bahija speculates that she unconsciously makes reality bend around her in order for her to get her way, allowing her to cheerfully get away with obnoxious habits that no one would reasonably stand for.
  • Red Baron: "The Shopping Queen", brought about by her rampages through the local commercial districts. She also calls herself "The Mirage of Deceit" during the wedding attack, but the context for this is unknown.
  • Scars Are Forever: Was assaulted and nearly raped early on during her time at the Villes, leaving her with scars both within and without that never really healed. It's only after the wedding attack that she's able to start on the road to recovery.
  • Shout-Out: Her human form is visually based on Azumanga Daioh's Tomo Takino, according to the first story's Author's Notes.
  • Slasher Smile: When giving the order to engage Marc's forces at the wedding, her grin is showing all of her teeth.
  • Speed Blitz: Callista's fighting style boils down to hitting the opponent hard and fast while hoping they can't hit back. Her Lightspeed Crush is a textbook example of the trope.
  • Super-Reflexes: While she has a definitive top running speed, her reflexes outright allow her to break the rules of reality and accomplish such things as slicing through each individual atom of an incoming missile while flat on her back. This technique is not infalliable, since sufficient distractions will rob her of that ability temporarily.
  • Super-Speed: Prefers speed over power. Her top speed according to Marc's armor is in excess of 9x the speed of light.
  • Tiger Versus Dragon: Is the Tiger to Acutus' Dragon, given her ability to transform into a cat-like hybrid and her fast-and-furious fighting style. She even wore a Detroit Tigers coat in her first encounter with Acutus to drive the motif home.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Shares this dynamic with Claire, being chaotic and self-centered in comparison to the maid's down-to-earth demeanor and readiness to serve. This becomes more apparent after Callista officially acknowledges her as her daughter.

Kaoru Matsubara

Hails from Powerpuff Girls Z. Lives in Callista's mind, and can swap minds and bodies with her at any time. See her entry here for tropes pertaining to her appearances in her source material.
  • Clothes Make the Superman: Possesses a customized Fairy Leviathan costume that, when worn, turns her from a flesh-and-blood human into a Reploid and grants her all of its source's abilities. Combining it with her standard transformation turns her into Glacial Buttercup, which lets her use both power-sets freely.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Her Daruma Otoshi hammer can fuse with Leviathan's Frost Javelin, creating a javelin-esque spiked hammer that can freeze whatever Buttercup hits with it.
  • No-Sell: As Glacial Buttercup, she can do this to electric attacks thanks to half of her outfit being based on the aforementioned Leviathan.
  • Only Sane Man: Between Callista's obsessive shopping habits and the Copycats' bickering, Kaoru tends to be the one of the four who makes the most sense.
  • Straight Man: Functions as this towards her "landlord" when she starts acting too ornery, such as chastising her for rushing into a fully-illuminated area from total darkness without giving her eyes time to adjust.

The Copycats

The Light and Dark Copycats represent Callista's positive and negative emotions, respectively, and frequently bicker with each other. They also make it possible for Callista to trigger her Super Mode.
    Aldonza Karate
A red fox/bat-eared fox caninoid hybrid from Kittenoa, and one of the Infinite Defense's best fighters.

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Can combine the tornadoes generated by her tail with her Eye Beams to fire off the Tail Laser Cannon. Her use of it against Marc's crab robot lets it melt straight through its eyes and systems.
  • Blow You Away: Utilizes wind-based attacks as part of her arsenal, such as hurricane-force bursts for blasting away grenades.
  • Eye Beams: Can fire Cyclops-esque green energy beams from her eyes.
  • Foxy Vixen: Subverted. Despite being a fox caninoid, and certainly appealing if her claims of "waking up pups in the morning with sugar drink ads" is anything to go by, her attractiveness is hardly fanservice-y. When asked to effect a Supermodel Strut, her attempt at sounding seductive only succeeds in getting Zapana to bust a gut laughing.
  • Lovely Angels: Shares this with her best friend Zapana during the wedding attack. It is noted that they have had this dynamic for decades in-universe, knowing each other's combat styles forwards and backwards and being at their best as a team.
  • Prehensile Tail: Two meters long. Aldonza can freely manipulate it to give her an extra limb to strike with, whether it's through martial arts, generating wind, or firing off her Tail Laser Cannon. Similarly to Tails she can also use it for flight, even when it makes no discernible sense for it to.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Behaves like a total airhead in the time leading up to Circe and Marc's wedding, getting the latter to drop his guard and accept her as the event's caterer.
  • Super-Reflexes: Like Callista, Aldonza has fairly ridiculous reflexes going for her. Along with Super-Speed, it's what helps her cook a variety of dishes almost simultaneously.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Played for laughs. After Mini-Lina paraphrases Deadpool late in TotT, Zapana's claim that Aldonza is a bad influence on her is summarily dismissed.

    Mini-Lina
A living doll created in the likeness of Lina Inverse.

  • The Dreaded: Her appearance at the wedding prompts Marc to get out of Dodge, where before he'd been overly confident in his prospective victory.
  • Gamer Chick: Is implied to be playing The Adventure of Link during the conference call in TotT, and references Deadpool in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 late in the story.
  • Living Toys: Is a fully animated foot-sized doll that enjoys playing video games, relaxing in her best friend's pocket, and—like her namesake—blasting anything she aims her magic at.

    Zapana Zquor
A gray timber wolf caninoid from Kittenoa. Drinks like a fish and burns like a bonfire.

  • The Alcoholic: Alcohol is one of her chief joys in life. The day she reached legal age, she grabbed a beer and never looked back.
  • Bear Hug: Known to give bone-crushing hugs to people she particularly likes, or in situations where she wants to cheer someone up. It was suggested that she was left off the guest list to Circe's wedding solely because of this habit.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Has fur as black as pitch, her eyes turn black when she taps into her full power, her fire attacks at their hottest are just as dark, she was known for being violent when she was younger, and her fire powers and Super-Toughness were forced upon her by someone who intended her to be a super-soldier on the side of evil. As an adult she's actually a nice girl, if a bit blunt, and would go to the ends of the universe for her superhero-ing friends.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: While several characters delve into this, Zapana's the most frequent offender. She refers to Aldonza and Callista with the "-chan" honorific often, and addresses Viridi as "Nachure" when sufficiently annoyed.
  • Lovely Angels: With Aldonza during the wedding attack. It is stated that they have had this dynamic for decades.
  • Never Gets Drunk: The serum in her blood strengthened her insides to the point where it is impossible for her to get drunk or otherwise experience the ill effects of overdrinking.
  • Noble Wolf: Fights squarely on the side of the good guys. Is a wolf, as stated above.
  • Playing with Fire: Is in full control of heat and flames, capable of making them as hot as any star without subjecting innocents to their effects.
  • Proud to Be a Geek: Was planning to watch the entirety of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory in one sitting, and made it clear to Callista that she was unhappy to be taken away from it just to fight her.
  • Ring of Fire: Her Fire Wall: Starflare is this when she wants to keep her target confined to a specific area. True to the attack name, the ring's temperatures reach those of the stars and are able to restrict the movements of a robot made specifically to withstand intense heat. And as an added bonus, Zapana even references the trope namer before using it.
  • Shout-Out: Some of her attacks function as these.
    • "Hiken" is obviously Portgas D. Ace's Fire Fist.
    • As stated above, her Fire Wall is a Ring of Fire, complete with Johnny Cash reference.
    • "Dark Fire" was derived from a similar attack used by one of the antagonists of Sailor Moon: Another Story.
    • "Hall of Holyfield" was named after former pro boxer Evander Holyfield. Given Zapana's musical leanings, it could also be seen as a reference to the Led Zeppelin album Houses of the Holy.
    • "One Hand Clap", according to the author, was based on an attack animation of Ryoko's from the Tenchi Muyo Super Famicom game that he misinterpreted in college.
  • Super-Soldier: Was turned into one by a delusional madman. The serum injected into her strengthened her both inside and out, turning her into a physical powerhouse. She isn't fully happy with it, but she's willing to work with what she has.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Incorporates several wrestling techniques into her fighting style, including leglocks and Flowing DDTs.

The Brotherhood

    Missy Coco Shanelle

The Spectacularly Cool Missy Coco Shanelle

With Callista too good-hearted to be a proper antagonist and the organization's top names having long vanished, this child clone has stepped up to the plate to serve as the Brotherhood's leader-by-proxy.
  • Arch-Enemy: Is this to Viridi and the Forces of Nature, most likely given her destructive tendencies.
  • Black Mage: Carries an arsenal of spells from both the Slayers and Final Fantasy series.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: Upon being told that she was a jerk, Missy's cheerful reply was "And don't you forget it!" She shows no remorse for her behavior towards others, least of all her treatment of Bahija. And fittingly enough... well, see "Loud of War" below.
  • Catchphrase: "DEATH TO THE FUKU!"
  • Clones Are People, Too: Is a clone of Callista created from her darker tendencies and emotions. Thoroughly enjoys life as only she can.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Like a decent chunk of the cast, Missy is an oddball in her own way. Her idea of eating cereal in the morning is to stick her head in the box instead of just pouring it in a bowl.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Serves as this to Callista where control of the Brotherhood is concerned. For all of Callista's faults, she is still too moralistic to play a good antagonist, and she would much rather live a life of shopping and freedom than be bogged down by the details of running the organization. When Acutus cloned the Dark Copycat to create Missy, Callista made lemonade out of lemons by making her the face of the Brotherhood and ultimately answerable to her alone.
  • Loud of War: Her alarm clock plays the current quote source for a certain trope at 140 decibels, and it's implied she has it that way to mess with Bahija. She escapes any harm by wearing powerful noise-cancellation headphones when she goes to sleep.
  • My Nayme Is: Missy was named after one of the author's parents' cats, Missy Coco Chanel.note  However, the misspelling of her name as "Shanelle" was accidental on the author's part. When Missy's origins were disclosed in Woolgathering, she admitted she chose the name because it sounded amazing and had no idea how to spell it. Callista told her she could spell it however she wanted, and the misspelling became official afterwards.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Possesses enough magical power to casually one-shot entire neighborhoods and be taken seriously as an enemy by Viridi. At the same time, TotT's Author's Notes clarify that Ai Haibara was used as her physical basis when she was created, meaning she's not that much taller than the average six or seven-year-old.

    Missy's bodyguard

    Acutus/Bahija

Acutus/Bahija

Missy's beleaguered secretary. Born a dragon with the ability to shapeshift into a more humanoid form, she eventually gained a Jusenkyo curse that transformed her into a sheep-girl with application of cold water. It's this latter form she utilizes most hours of the day on Callista's orders. Is the central protagonist of Woolgathering, as far as things go.
  • Affably Evil: Offers legitimate invitations to Ellen and Callista to try and absorb them into her empire, while doing her best to be well-mannered and friendly. When it becomes clear that neither of them are going to fall for her charms, she drops her friendliness and reverts to full-on animosity.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Is in love with Callista, who not only hates her guts but doesn't swing that way anyway.
  • Big-Breast Pride: Is very proud of the figure that her Blue energy gives her, for all the good it did her against Ellen and Callista. She learns not to put any emphasis on it in her later interactions with them, though.
  • Break the Haughty: Getting thrashed by someone a thousand times weaker and being put through the wringer as the lowly secretary of a Bad Boss will do that.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Deals one of these to Buttercup and the Copycats when invading Callista's mind, the former in a single strike.
  • Does Not Like Men: While she doesn't seem to outright hate men, Bahija has made it clear which side of the fence she is on and refuses to have any relations with them. As such, she was mortified when the then-male Ezekiel hugged her before she realized that perversity had nothing to do with it.
  • Furry Reminder: Will sometimes bleat like an actual sheep when she's sufficiently shocked, or as an alternative to speaking.
  • Healing Factor: Her dragon-girl form's magic lets her heal quickly and efficiently. In light of what she goes through on a day-to-day basis as a sheep, that's a good thing.
  • Hypocrite: Feels that professional wrestling—that is, grandstanding and beating each other senseless in boots and tights—is a silly way for a grown person to make a living... while deliberately ignoring the fact that she appeared on the Muffin Continent as a scantily-clad dragon-girl who tried going full ham on Ellen and Callista.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: Some of her dragon form's durability carried over to her cursed form, which allows her to survive stuff that no one reasonably should. This includes such things as crashing through the ceiling of a foyer five stories high after being blasted through the roof by Denis Leary, or being kicked through the window of a bar into a seven-story office tower's rooftop air conditioner.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: Is a decent enough psychic that she can invade a person's mind and do whatever damage she wants that way. If she so desires, she can also do this to gain insight on prospective targets, such as Callista.
  • Laughably Evil: Powerful and dark-minded enough to get Callista to take her seriously as an enemy in their first encounter. Also has moments of total daffiness, such as her failed attempt to intimidate Ellen, taking a few minutes to figure out the girl's riddle despite knowing that she was stalling for time, and becoming Missy's Chew Toy upon joining the Brotherhood.
  • Love at First Sight: Fell head over heels in love with Callista upon first seeing her, the fact that the younger girl had just shot her in the face with a bottle of fireworks notwithstanding.
  • Mad Love: Ties in with "Villainous Crush" below. Acutus' love towards Callista stems in part from Love At First Sight, then was enhanced by a desire to submit herself to her after her defeat and subsequent rescue. Despite failed measures to get her approval and years of abuse from Callista's own proxy, her attraction to her refuses to fade.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Her true form is that of a giant Western-style dragon. She is described as being as tall as a sports stadium and as long as an entire town, capable of spitting volleys of magic missiles at targets with pinpoint accuracy, is layered with Blue transformative magic, and self-identifies as an ex-warlord. While in that form, she is also capable of assuming a tall human-like appearance—albeit one with massive clawed feet, tremendous physical power, and an array of fur, feathers and scales—whenever she wants to walk among others.
  • Overly Long Name: Malveline re Fraul Scandalwan de la Acutus. This typically gets shortened to "Acutus" for simplicity.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: While not possessing any in-story feats explicitly detailing such, the narration of her fight with Callista states that she's capable of releasing pressure waves powerful enough to destroy half the Muffin Continent.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: By her own words, she rewards loyalty; backstabbing those who would make the conquest of a world possible wouldn't put her in good stead with her power base.
  • Shout-Out: According to TotT's Author's Notes, Acutus is basically a palette swap of Linthia from Puzzle & Dragons.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Was initially impartial to who she chose to bed. After her downfall and years of being stuck on the Muffin Continent, her devotion focused exclusively on Callista alone.
  • Statuesque Stunner: As Acutus she clocks in at almost eight feet tall, and possesses a figure to be proud of. As Bahija, she's much more normal height-wise.
  • Straight Gay: Has made no secret of the fact that she prefers women, and is completely serious about this. Like the above, the Blue Color energy she possesses is a major factor in this, according to the author's notes for TotT.
  • Sweet Sheep: Oh, so very subverted. On first glance she seems meek and nice enough, albeit a bit cranky and downtrodden due to her enemies and her own boss not giving her much respect, and she's good at being friendly... or at least pretending to be. When Circe's wedding is attacked, her birth form is revealed, and in that form she's very powerful, proud and arrogant.
  • Tiger Versus Dragon: Beyond the obvious, Acutus is the Dragon to Callista's Tiger. She doesn't display much wisdom when they first meet, but afterward she shows the patience brought on by 2,000 years of life, a willingness to wait if it means achieving her goals, and the ability to pull off long cons despite the impact it has on her well-being.
  • Villainous Crush: Has a single-minded devotion towards Callista that she's unable and unwilling to shake, despite the shopaholic's hatred of her being well-established.
  • Villain Protagonist: Is front and center during Woolgathering as the story depicts her fall from power, subsequent hooking up with the Brotherhood, and interactions with those who hate her for her unrepentant debauchery.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Almost eight feet tall and a walking wall of muscle. At odds with that description is her voice, which Ellen perceives as sounding like "a squeaky can opener". A Brotherhood stormtrooper later remarks on her having the voice of Aisha Clan-Clan.
  • Would Hurt a Child: When she first came to Muffinville, she made it clear that she would kill Ellen—who appeared to be 12 years old at that point—if the child didn't join her empire.
    Olympia Andromeda

Olympia Andromeda

The group's current financier. Has a claim to a legitimate fiefdom outside of Muffinville proper, along with several holdings within city limits that made her rich.

  • Charles Atlas Superpower: There's nothing to indicate that she's anything less than fully human. According to Bahija, she's still strong enough to use her self-sized zweihänder one-handed.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: Carries one of these with her. It's described as having a crystal blade as big and wide as she is, which does nothing to stop her from wielding it one-handed.

    Himitsu

Himitsu

The Brotherhood's most well-known and unpredictable figure. Disappeared at some point prior to the events of TotT.

  • Bad Boss: At least compared to Missy. According to Callista, Missy would never harm or degrade the Brotherhood's Ovalisks in any way, whereas Himitsu would have forced them to work in his ice cream factories if he didn't blow them up first.

The Forces of Nature

This is for tropes pertaining to the characters as they appear in this series. For their full character pages, see here.

    Viridi, the Goddess of Nature

Viridi, the Goddess of Nature

Leader of the Forces of Nature. Is in an ongoing war against Missy Coco and the Brotherhood.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Doesn't seem to mind living in the man-made (or Kittenoan-made) Mungojerrie, albeit in a suite that has been altered from the ground up to suit her needs. In addition, she has at least a civil relationship with Ellen and freely chats with her telepathically. Previously, she would've fiercely balked at the idea of having anything to do with humanity.
  • Arch-Enemy: Is this towards the Brotherhood, and Missy in particular.
  • Back from the Dead: Referred to as "resurrected", suggesting that something somehow managed to kill her at some point between the events of Kid Icarus: Uprising and TotT.
  • Gamer Chick: Engages in an hours-long Super Smash Bros. Ultimate marathon against Missy and their lieutenants during their Enemy Mine situation.
  • Happily Adopted: Is this to Amber Harrison and her family due to unknown circumstances, as much as she despises the idea of being a "pseudo-daughter".
    Phosphora
Viridi's chief lieutenant.

Residents of the Muffinville-verse

    Circe

Circe

A sorceress, entrepreneur, and would-be villainess who lives in an expansive manor outside Muffinville's boundaries. Is an unlikely friend of some of her wedding's saboteurs. Serves as a minor antagonist of Taking Out the Trash.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Included a failsafe in her love potions on the off chance that one was used against her.
  • Elemental Powers: Can harness a variety of elements, including ice and nature itself. Whatever she's wearing changes color as a visual indicator.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: One of Circe's bangs covers an eye by default. She is described as a wannabe villainous sorceress—thus covering the 'scheming' angle—who has difficulty interacting even with the few that she's close to, as shown when she awkwardly thanks Ookalf for being concerned for her well-being.
  • Ki Manipulation: Knows Nappa's Volcano Explosion technique, and tries unsuccessfully to wipe out the saboteurs at her wedding with it.
  • Laser Blade: Carries a lightsaber as an emergency weapon, and is fairly proficient in its use.
  • Odd Friendship: The temperamental lesbian sorceress with revealing clothing is friends with the overly-conservative, modest and celibate Callista.
  • Partial Transformation: Can morph her limbs into such things as a tangle of vines, or increase their size for extra striking power.
  • Straight Gay: Same as Acutus (see above), as per her Blue Color energy. Unlike the nymphomaniac Acutus, she admits that there's little to no chance of her getting involved in romantic undertakings, willingly or otherwise. According to Zapana she's content to have an all-female staff and leave it at that, not going any further.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Breaks out Marisa Kirisame's Loving Heart: Double Spark when Elk and Ellen start pushing her too hard in their fight.

    Claire de Loon

Claire de Loon

At some point, Callista had been magically transformed into a maid. To revert her back to normal, the Infinite Defense split off everything that constituted that part of herself and placed it in a clone body, filling in the gaps with a portion of her personality. The clone took a new name and set off on her own, eventually landing herself a full-time job as part of Circe's Maid Corps.
  • Clones Are People, Too: A fully conscious clone of Callista that was allowed to live her own life after her birth. From what can be seen, she enjoys every bit of it.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: As evidenced by her singing in ToTT's epilogue, she's not going to win any awards anytime soon.
  • Iconic Outfit: Her floor-length, lampshade-shaped maid's uniform is synonymous with her in-universe to the point that Callista isn't sure whether or not her nervousness during Circe's wedding had to do with the fact that she had to go without.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Normally, Claire is good at hiding how she feels through a wall of decorum. When something succeeds in bypassing this to make her mad, she becomes significantly more temperamental and violent to the point of behaving like O'Malley. The inverse is true as well; if overcome with euphoria, she becomes so deliriously happy that her normal self looks like Hyde in comparison.
  • Meido: The life she leads and loves. Part of this is because of Callista's initial transformation resulting in her having the mind of a maid, but most of it is genuine. When she learned of Marc's Stay in the Kitchen attitude and treatment of women, it wasn't the attitude that made her angry.
"I enjoy housework immensely, and working here at the Manor is simply that scaled up by a hundred."
  • Silk Hiding Steel: Elegant, well-dressed, and well-mannered at her best. Will fearlessly take up arms in defense of her mistress if need be, though she's no Ninja Maid.
  • Undying Loyalty: Towards Circe, so much so that Doris believes she could have been the head maid had she arrived at the Manor just a few years earlier.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Shares this dynamic with Callista, with Claire being more down-to-earth and eager to please than her chaotic, self-centered mother. This becomes more apparent after Callista officially acknowledges her as her daughter.
    Circe's other maids
    Ookalf
    The Hasano clan
    Marc Maddhouse

Marc Maddhouse

One of Muffinville's biggest and most notorious sleazes. Is viewed by Viridi as a perfect example of everything that is wrong with humanity. Owns a corporate empire that matches the Brotherhood for resourcefulness. Is the Big Bad of Taking Out the Trash.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Has a sidearm, teams of mercenaries, wedding guests who don't like Muffinville's "the only constant is change" motto, Powered Armor, and a giant magicproof crab mecha on hand in case his wedding is attacked, the final outcome notwithstanding.
  • Gonk: Marc is described as being ugly enough to match Tarukane, due primarily to scarring and long-healed burns.
  • Karmic Transformation: This is Marc's final fate at the end of TotT, as Ambush turns him into an over-endowed Green woman—the type of person he had previously exploited and manipulated in every possible way—and left with a message from the cat permanently emblazoned on her spinal cord warning her not to try anything funny again.
  • Kavorka Man: An ugly sleazeball like you wouldn't believe, yet he somehow keeps achieving his conquests. The suggestion is made that his business partner Ms. Aryu is also his domestic partner, and that's without getting into what he plans to do to Circe and, later, to Callista.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In addition to the above transformation, Marcella's entire corporate empire comes crashing down overnight due to the combined actions of the saboteurs, Echo, and Ritsu Hasano. By the time she wakes up again, she's left with nothing. In addition Circe blacklists her entirely and gets a restraining order issued against her, preventing her former fiancé from accessing her Manor and business ventures, as well as from interacting with her or her staff.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Kickstarted the events of TotT by shooting Circe with a Hapan Gun of Command, then getting her to allow him to test one of her own Love Potions on her while her mental defenses were on the fritz. In general he's this to just about everyone, most of all women and his own employees.
  • Powered Armor: Keeps a "dark-toned Hulkbuster rip-off" close by in case he needs to get his hands dirty. In addition to all of its expected abilities, it also lets him adapt to an opponent's speed, carries a complex suite of sensors that let him identify weaknesses quickly, and is equipped with an Agony Beam that directly targets all cell nuclei in a given area.
  • Sex God: Outright promises Circe he'll be this to her, phrasing his statements in such a way that she believes that he's what she's been waiting for her entire life. Zapana is quick to bellow what she thinks of his claims.
    "Boundaries, --------s!"
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Is stated to have this view of women, which is very out of place considering the Muffin Continent.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Undergoes one of these when Callista annihilates his Armor, angrily accusing her of holding back and stating his core beliefs for all to hear.
    Jennifer Berra

Jennifer Berra

A former humanoid of an unknown species, now a pure-blooded human. Was previously a member of Acutus' cult and the one responsible for summoning her to the Muffin Continent.

  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Was a proud owner of a little black kitten, Philomena, at the time of Acutus' summoning. She admits to being happy that Callista defeated Acutus, because it meant the warlord was prevented from using an attack that would have reached Muffinville and done Philomena serious, if not lethal, harm.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Absolutely adores Philomena. Anything she doesn't spend on sweets goes towards keeping the cat healthy and happy. She also owned Drew when she was still a cat, and treated her well enough that the volatile catgirl was crying Tears of Joy when they reunited after years of separation. This trait is what convinces Ambush not to do anything worse to Jennifer than transform her after the trouble she put Ellen through.
  • Sweet Tooth: Guzzles down or eats something sugary almost every other paragraph. This is in stark contrast to her original form, which Bahija notes had severe allergic reactions to sugar.

     The Harrison family

Ambush Cat/Amber Harrison

Previously a Kittenoan, this black Maine Coon cat and lazybones human is one of Callista's closest friends and allies. He is also an unlikely friend of Circe, which leads to him joining the others in crashing her wedding.

  • Adorable Abomination: Looks like a large, hairy cat normally, albeit one with a purple gem shard in his forehead. As TotT goes on, one starts to realize that disembodied mouths that shoot transformation-inducing energy waves and possess enough teeth to "make the average dentist set for life" are not normal for cats.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Implied to make a hobby out of this. When Ellen tries to talk about what she did to Marc after her child received the slightest harm, it invokes a "Too Much Information" from everyone listening.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Possesses black hair and gray skin as a human, the latter for no real reason.
  • Gender Bender: Can swap between being male and female entirely at will, assuming the latter in matters pertaining to her family. As a cat this is unnoticeable beyond her voice changing, however.
  • Mama Bear: Is a sweetheart to her family and fiercely protective of them, as Marc discovers when he tries to flee upon being defeated.

Eebon Harrison

The first of a set of quadruplets. Is a Kittenoan felinoid.

Echo Harrison

The second of the quadruplets. Like his mother's default form, he's a black Maine Coon.
  • Shadow Walker: Is able to bypass closed doors with this ability. It is implied that he used this to aid in getting dirt on Marc's lawyers.
  • Talking Animal: Can speak English fluently, though doing so for too long puts stress on his throat.
  • Telepathy: If he doesn't feel like speaking for prolonged periods, Echo uses this instead to get his thoughts known to others.

Elk Harrison

The third of the quadruplets. This catboy is the most insane member of the family by far.
  • Cat Girl: Gender-Inverted Trope — Elk's a catboy.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Most of the stuff out of his mouth demonstrates that he's not all there.
"Catpile on the succubus goddess, Second-Class!"
"Forbidden Zone, Forbidden Zone, Chaos Emeralds ahoy!"
  • Power-Up Food: Turns into Pepsiman by drinking soda pop. In this form he becomes nigh-impossible to hit, can use a snowboard for attack and defense, and can go anywhere to deliver soda pop to thirsty people.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Shares this with Ellen, being highly aggressive, noisy, and fun-loving compared to his sister's calm, emotionless demeanor and defensive fighting style.

Ellen Harrison

The fourth of the quadruplets. The most wary of Amber's children, the only full-blooded human of the five, and also the most emotionless. Was one of the saboteurs in TotT.

  • Death Dealer: Uses a deck of playing cards as weapons. She is able to control them remotely and alter their composition on the fly for both attack and defense, and she's skilled enough in their usage that at one point she slices a machete into multiple pieces length-wise.
  • Emotionless Girl: She's described as the most cautious of her family to an almost absurd extent, being the utter picture of calmness and silence. Combined with "her perpetual half-lidded stare, soft-spoken voice and near inability to smile", she's considered creepy and borderline frightening... which is exactly how she likes it, since it means no one is bothering her.
  • Hidden Depths: Behind her emotionless, smile-less, soft-spoken and creepy exterior lies a strong attachment to her family and friends, a quirky sense of humor, and enough musical ability to play the organ reasonably well at Marc and Circe's wedding.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: To the wedding, Ellen wears hexagon-shaped amethyst earrings and a light purple dress, the latter of which appears to be made of overlapping metallic scales on first glance. Since her paper manipulation lets her attack and defend without moving, her choice of wear is no hindrance when events go south.
  • Power Tattoo: Has a black crescent moon-shaped tattoo on one arm. When seen during the wedding attack, it glows and pulses when she's using specific abilities.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Shares this with Elk, being calm, logic-driven and a defensive force compared to her brother's boisterous and noisy in-your-face personality.
  • Token Human: The only human of the Harrison kids.note
  • Visible Silence: Almost always hesitates before speaking. As such, the bulk of her paragraphs are prefaced with ellipses. The only times she foregoes this is when she wants to get a point across without being interrupted.
