    Anima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anima.jpg
"I got killed by aliens. The end — not! I came back! And I wasn't alone — I'm the gate of Animus, one of the Archai. He looks like a metal head, but he's cool."
AKA: Courtney Mason
First Appearance: New Titans Annual #9 (August, 1993)
Abilities: Super-strength, energy absorption, flight, force beams, touch of death, channels the Animus entity and can drain the life force from her surroundings

Courtney Mason can leech bio-energy, manifest mystical armor and a blade, and her body is a conduit to summon the monstrous Animus. She's been a member of the Blood Pack and the Titans and an ally of Young Justice.

  • Bad Powers, Good People: She works as a hero and from a desire to save people even though her abilities include, to her horror, the Touch of Death. This element of her powerset and personal history was forgotten in her Titans appearances.
  • C-List Fodder: She was first thrown into a coma after having a beam tear through her from Trigon's sons. Sometime later, she was then torn in half and killed by one of Prometheus' portals in Faces of Evil
  • Cleavage Window: In her "Titans East" redesign.
  • Expy: Of Rogue, another runaway Southern girl who is a Power Parasite.
  • Homeless Hero: She left her home and refuses to return until she is confident in her control.
  • Instant Armor: Had this in her original powerset.
  • Life Drinker: She's horrified by this element of her powers but she does gain them by pulling the life force from others and she can do so fatally.
  • Power Incontinence: Its incredibly dangerous to have limited control of your powers when your powers including draining life energy, and her lack of control is the reason she left her home in New Orleans.
  • Power Parasite: Draws power from the life around her.
  • The Runaway: She ran away from home after gaining her powers and was offered a place to stay by a band after she protected them from a gang in Gotham when they learned she was living on the streets.
  • Symbiotic Possession: Via Animus who possesses her and can power and heal her by draining the life force from her surroundings. Writers handling her as a Titans affiliate seemed to have forgotten about Animus entirely.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Writers after her reintroduction seemed to forget all about the Animus entity, who could have also saved her from her predicament.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Through her own series and her original DCU appearances, Courtney was a tomboyish punk and wore spiked armor that covered her whole body. By the time she was brought back for Titans East, many fans at first confused her for Amethyst of Gemworld as she was redesigned to wear skimpy violet armor, had long flowing hair, and was much more conventionally feminine in appearance and personality.

    Bushido
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bushido.jpg
"I have come from Japan to learn teamwork. To be a Titan."
AKA: Ryuko Orsono
First Appearance: Titans Annual #1 (August, 2000)

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: "Orsono" is nowhere near a legitimate Japanese name. A more plausible surname would be "Osono".
  • C-List Fodder: Ripped in half by Superboy-Prime.
  • Empathic Weapon: Each weapon he carried was imbued with the soul of the warrior who wielded it, and these spirits guided Ryuko in battle.

Jesse Quick / Liberty Belle II
AKA: Jesse Chambers
Abilities: Super-speed and strength, flight
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jesse_quick_08.jpg

The daughter of Golden Age super-heroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, Jesse Chambers inherited both her parents' powers—flight, super-speed, and super-strength. See the Flash character sheet for more info.

    Little Barda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/little_barda.jpg
"Little Barda now. But maybe one day I'll be big. We all aspire to be something else, don't we?"
First Appearnce: 52 #21 (November, 2006)

Little Barda is one of the New Gods and a warrior of Apokolips. Despite her villainous upbringing as a member of the Female Furies, she idolized the hero Big Barda and fled to Earth alongside Power Boy so she could become a hero. She has been a member of the Teen Titans and Titans East.

  • Super-Strength: Little Barda can lift a truck over her head using only one hand with relative ease.
  • Whatever Happened to the Mouse?: Is injured in Titans East and was absent for a time. Fans speculated that she could have died during DC's "Death of the New Gods" event as all characters from the Fourth World were wiped out, however she was revealed to be alive in Titans #21, two years after her last appearance, so she wasn't one of the characters from the Fourth World to have died in the event.

AKA: Mar'i Grayson

    The Protector
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jason_hart_001.jpg
“I’ve trained my entire life to fight scum like this”
AKA: Jason Hart
-.First Appearance: New Teen Titans Drug Awareness Special (Keebler) (1983)
Abilities: Hand-to-hand combat

The Protector is Jason Hart, a vigilante who focuses on drug awareness and battling drug addiction. He developed this identity when his younger cousin got hooked on drugs, believing his cousin might listen to a superhero. He is an honorary member of the Teen Titans.

  • Captain Ersatz: Was originally created to replace Robin in the New Teen Titans anti-drug comics by Keebler.
  • Canon Immigrant: Sort of, as he was later given an actual identity and profile to confirm his status in the DC universe, although he never managed to be used in a significant role afterwards. The few times he's shown up usually amount to crowd scenes (such as in Infinite Crisis or at a membership drive), though a Hypertime counterpart of him appeared as part of an alternate universe team in a quick cameo in Titans volume 1.
  • Cerebus Retcon: Heroes in Crisis gives Jason the most page time he's had in decades, and uses it to reveal he was a massive Hypocrite and hardcore drug addict who only chose to battle drug addiction because he thought it was funny until he hit rock bottom.

    Red Hood
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/red_hood.jpg
'AKA: Lian Harper

  • In the Hood: Her codename comes from the red hood that is part of her costume.
  • Master Archer: It runs in the family.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Unlike her young Titans counterpart, she has red hair (although, it’s entirely possible that she just dyed it to look more like her father).
  • Trick Arrow: Just like her father.

    Son of Vulcan II
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/son_of_vulcan.png

AKA: Miguel Devante
First Appearance: Son of Vulcan Vol 2 #1 (August, 2005)

Member of Titans East. A flame wielding warrior who keeps the White Martians in check.

  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Was injured by Trigon's sons, and then was never referenced again even though he was one of the survivors.
  • Flaming Sword: The Sword of Vulcan. A crystalline blade that can channel Vulcan's flames and is sharp enough to cut through virtually any substance.
  • Legacy Character: Miguel Devante took this name from Johnny Mann after he was given powers by the super-hero Vulcan.
  • Playing with Fire: Thanks to the unique Vulcan Metavirus, Miguel is able to generate intense heat from any part of his body.
  • Powered Armor: Miguel wears a special suit of body armor created by previous Vulcans, with gauntlets capable of generating force fields.

Team Titans

General Tropes

  • Ret-Gone: All Team Titans were erased from existence in Zero Hour: Crisis in Time! after their timeline was wiped out. The only survivors were Terra II, Mirage, and Deathwing, who were retconned to be from the main timeline and planted into the alternate future by the Time Trapper.

    Battalion
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/battalion.jpg

AKA: Lyons (first name not given)
Abilities: Enhanced speed, strength, and durability

Battalion is the leader of the Team Titans. He joined and lead the team after his family was murdered by Lord Chaos. Already trained in combat, fighting expertise and battle techniques he trained the Team to fight.

  • Animal Motifs: Between his immense mane of hair and his Punny surname, Battalion carries the image of the King of Beasts. If you want, you could throw in the fact that the last four letters of Battalion are "lion", too.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Alex often calls himself "the Drill Sergeant from Hell".
  • Expy: Of Cable.
  • Only One Name: Battalion's real last name was Lyons, but his first name is unknown.
  • Redhead In Green: He's got wild red hair and his costume is green.
  • Smoking Is Edgy: Battalion looks like a living incarnation of a 90s Anti-Hero. He has a giant mane of hair, is described in-universe as a Drill Sergeant Nasty, wears spikes on his shoulders and boots, and uses lots of guns. In first very first on-panel appearance, he uses a giant gun to vaporize a bunch of normal street thugs from present time, chomping a cigar while doing so.

    Killowat
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/killowatt.jpg

AKA: Charlie Watkins
Abilities: Flight, ability to transform into a being of living electricity, generation and control of electricity

Killowat, also known as Charlie Watkins, is a superhero with electrical powers and a member of the Team Titans. He was born in the post-apocalyptic future where the Team Titans came from, but later traveled back through time and joined the Teen Titans. Watkins was originally a resistance spy pretending to serve under Lord Chaos, but he began working in the resistance actively after receiving superpowers.

  • Flight
  • Logical Weakness: Vulnerability to water.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Infamous for his racism, which first manifested in an ignorant comment about finding Mirage attractive even though she had dark skin. This was a trait intended to be expanded on through the series and cause discomfort within the team, but the series' cancellation cut it short.
    • Ironically, it's implied that the main universe version of him, if he ever existed, was black.
  • Shock and Awe: Killowat can create, generate, manipulate and control all forms of electricity such as thunder and lightning and use it according to his will.
  • Spell My Name With An S: His codename was usually spelled "Killowat" in the comics, while his Teen Titans Go! self spells it "Kilowatt".
  • Suddenly Ethnicity: When he tracks down the relatives who raised him in this timeline, they turn out to be black. He's not exactly thrilled, particularly as it seems he may never have existed in the mainstream universe.

    Nightrider
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dagon_3.jpg

AKA: David (surname unknown), Dagon
Abilities: Immortality, shape-changing, enhanced senses, strength, durability, and speed

A vampire and member of the Team Titans. He is a rebel group seeking to overthrow Lord Chaos, the dictator of an alternate Earth ten years into the future.

    Prestor Jon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prestor_jon.jpg

AKA: Jonathan Levine
Abilities: Can interface with computers, shape-shifting (with artificial body)

  • Alternate Self: Eventually, he and his sister track down the mainstream versions of themselves, only to learn that the Levines in our timeline had had twin *girls*.
  • Brain Uploading: Transferred his mind into a computer before he died, and lived on in the form of a bracelet. His essence was then uploaded into a robotic duplicate of his original body.
  • Digitized Hacker: He was forced to abandon his body and merge his consciousness with a computer, then his body was destroyed, leaving him as one of these, until he got a new body.
  • Mutant: He's Redwing's twin brother, so ditto.
  • Rubber Man: His new body can be stretched and change its form to an extent.
  • Technopath: His original power set, until he had to merge with a computer.

    Redwing
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/redwing.jpg

AKA: Carrie Levine
Abilities: Flight, tracking, razor-sharp beak and talons (later mutation)

A winged metahuman. She is a member of Team Titans and was trained by Nightwing (an alternate future version of Dick Grayson). Later, she metamorphosized into a more aggressive avian form dubbed Warbird.

  • Flight: Naturally she can fly by way of naturally grown wings.
  • Leotard of Power: She wears a green leotard.
  • Mutant: Thanks to her mother being exposed to radiation while pregnant.
  • Pointy Ears
  • Ret-Gone: In the New 52, she doesn't exist and the Redwing identity is Damian Wayne's alternative to his Robin identity. Redwing is the partner to Wingman — Jason Todd's alternative identity to Red Hood.
  • Winged Humanoid: Due to her mother being exposed to radiation while pregnant, Carrie was born with a strange pair of red-feathered wings.

Other teams

  • The Ravagers: A team comprising of metahumans who escaped the clutches of N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

Alternative Title(s): Team Titans
