This page is for tropes that describe the characters in the Show by Rock!! game. Tropes for the characters in anime are currently in the anime page, and please keep anime tropes over there. The game and anime canons are very different, and we don't want people getting confused as to what tropes apply to what canon.

  • Cat Girl: Cat ears, cat tail, likes setaria - a toy for cat... Yup, in human form, Cyan definitely counts.

  • Camera Fiend: Whenever Retoree gets excited, such as witnessing Cyan’s cute moments or meeting a band she’s a fan of, she grabs her phone and snaps pictures in quick succession.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Towards Cyan's cuter moments. It is bad where Retoree was supposed to take Maple pictures, but she got distracted by Cyan.
  • Ears as Hair: Her Girlish Pigtails in her human form become her ears in her Myumon form.
  • Friendless Background: Retoree was a lonely girl who joined Plasmagica to make friends. However, she was never very good at making friends, and in the present day still finds it difficult to talk to her bandmates.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She ties her hair in very long pigtails, which are actually her ears in Myumon form.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Her motivation for joining Plasmagica.
  • Otaku: She likes Sayaka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica and is internet savvy. Also doubles as Actor Allusion.
  • Punny Name: Her name is a pun on "retriever", alluding to how she's a dog Myumon.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Unable to communicate her feelings directly and is bad at making friends.
  • Tsundere: Sometimes subverted when she gets the courage to ask Cyan about personal things. But to everyone else, played straight.

    Spectrenotes

The Entire Band

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/snlogo.png

  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: In their first-stage myumon forms; most of them gain shoes as they evolve further, and their UR forms show them in furry, paw-shaped boots.
  • Be Yourself: The conclusion the band comes to in their first episode, when Kanato wonders if they should change their image to stand out among the wackier, more colorful bands of Midicity.
  • Color-Coded Characters: With the exception of their second-stage evolutions, they each stick to a dominant color: Kanato is red-orange, Kikka is blue, Ivary is green, Hideniro is purple, and Maotti is teal. They're represented by these colors in the band's logo as well.
  • Cool Mask: They all have elaborate-looking half-masks in their third evolution.
  • Cute Little Fangs: All their UR forms have them, aside from Hideniro; along with their Facial Markings and furry footwear, the fangs enhance their animal-like appearance further than that of most other characters.
  • Fish out of Water: They came from Brifrancity, Sound Planet's music and arts capital.
    • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: Brifrancity is in "the far west," and Spectrenotes exhibit a fair number of European traits; judging by the name, it's probably meant to correspond to Britain and France.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: They are based on BIGMAMA, who provide their music.
  • Serious Business: They nearly break up due to a fight over how to eat fried eggs.

  • Gratuitous English: Uses "ミー" ("me") and "ユー" ("you") as personal pronouns.
  • Gratuitous French: Regularly says "Non non!" to object to things.

  • Trademark Favorite Food:
    • Whisky with fruit and chocolate
    • Shochu with fried tofu
  • Verbal Tic: Ends his sentences with "~ロ" ("~ro").

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Has white hair in the game proper, but the anime gives him blonde hair instead.
  • Aloof Big Brother: To Ailane.

  • The Big Guy: He's 192 cm, which makes him the tallest Shingancrimsonz member, if not one of the tallest characters that appears in the show.

  • Hikikomori: Most of the time, he is shut into his apartment.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His hair is really long, and he is canonically attractive.

  • Meaningful Name: "Yaiba" means "sword," which he has an affinity for to the point of his bass being shaped like one.
  • Motor Mouth: It gets where Yaiba is constantly interrupted by others.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Can be seen holding a cigarette in his ingame sprite and some of his cards; he switches it out for a kiseru further down the band's evolution line.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He does not wear a shirt underneath his jacket.

  • Beast Man: Notably retains his fur in his UR form; he borders between this and Little Bit Beastly.
  • Cool Mask: Subverted; he wears a fairly silly-looking one when practicing BDSM.
  • Has a Type: Almost literally; he only wants someone with AB type blood for a bride. Mummy points out at one point that he's being too picky.
  • The Leader
  • Odd Friendship: With Kanato. They strike up a friendship after playing a show together, and Demonbat appreciates how easy it is to scare Kanato.
  • Sadist: Somewhat downplayed as there is very little mention of it within the game itself, outside of his official profile and one bromide.

  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: They're based around a real group called Alice Juban who provide their music.

  • Ambiguously Bi: Although he has shown interests in girls, Hakkun has fascination towards Hunk characters.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Implied. He quickly classifies some of the female band members into common anime archetypes, most obvious in the episode where Plasmagica and Uwasa no Petals are in the same concert.
  • Childhood Friends: With Shibarin.

  • Fangirl: Of Trichronika.
    • And most other male bands, actually. During one of the school events, she meets with Dropout Sensei and she immediately develops a crush on all 3 of them. Tentoumutsumi ends up developing a crush on her too, though Pigmacaron has already left when this was revealed.

  • Older Than They Look: While a canon age is not given, she's implied to be much, much older than most of the cast.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: She's the only one who remains barefoot in all her forms.
  • Verbal Tic: She often ends her sentences with "-de arinsu", due to speaking in a Yoshiwara dialect (which is often associated with courtesans).

  • Bifauxnen: Her boyish look grabs attention towards women.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: In fact, she may be single-handedly the reason why the band has so much (in-game) fans in the first place. Also, interesting to note that even the anime lists this band as just being below Trichronika, which is the most popular band and composed mostly of fangirls.
    • At one point, a rabid fangirl of almost all male characters, Pigmacaron of Dolly Dolci, actually gets a crush on Lyna. Cue her gasps and conflicting inner monologues when she finds out that Studdo Banggyashu is a girls band.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy to Cheety's girly girl.
  • Workaholic: Dislikes off days.

  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: They are based around a real band called Usotsuki that provides their music.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: Their name can be (and often is) read as "Tekebakitsusou;" when the syllables are reversed, it spells "usotsukibakete," which can be translated as "Usotsuki appearing in disguise."
  • Youkai: Except for Fujiraid, who's a real animal, their species come from Japanese folklore.

  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: In myumon form. In human form, he gets shoes shaped like webbed feet.
  • Catchphrase: "Tekebakitsu Shou's flickering flame live, start!" before live shows.
  • Cranky Neighbor: To the rest of the band, though he doesn't give them quite as much of a hard time as he did at first.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Ironically, he dislikes spicy food.
  • First-Person Perspective: His thoughts, and only his, are relayed to the reader in the band's episodes.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's often rude to others and complains about just about everything, but his bandmates point out that he may care too much for his own good. Indeed, the complaints he files are usually made out of genuine concern.
  • Kappa: Specifically, a fire kappa.
  • Removable Shell: His is a backpack.
  • The Snark Knight: Threatening to file a complaint borders on being his Catchphrase, but he gets flustered at earnest compliments.
  • Sweet Tooth
  • Talking to Plants: Known to talk to small flowers growing by the side of the road.
  • Verbal Tic: Ends his sentences with "-paa."

Fujireido (B)

  • An Ice Person: In one event episode, he magically restores a ski slope that Takubaning had melted.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Past his second form and in his UR+ form, combined with mismatched eyes and multi-colored hair; they're both blue on the right and red on the left.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Dislikes matcha.
  • Duality Motif: Blue and red-orange for fire and ice, shown in his clothes, hair and eyes (as he evolves), bass, and in one bromide, his fingernails.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Takeppar mistook him for the newspaper girl when they first met, but Fujiraid was more offended by Takeppar's rude attitude than by being mistaken for a woman.
  • Flaming Hair: The end of his braid is a flame.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: On top of his feminine appearance (and fashion sense bordering on being an outright Wholesome Crossdresser), he loves to cook sweets and refers to himself as "atashi," a first-person pronoun generally reserved for women.
  • Say It with Hearts: His dialogue often has hearts and music notes, to emphasize his feminine speech patterns.
  • Team Mom: Having the most even temperament of the bunch, he's usually responsible for de-escalating fights, keeping everyone together, and fixing their screw-ups.

  • Genki Girl
  • Japanese Delinquents: She’s cast as one in the Show By Rock!! Academy event; her cards show her painting graffiti on the buildings, and he episodes have her getting into a fight with A.

  • Alternative Rock: Their music consists of bass, drums, piano, and violin which isn't pop, but it is a mix of rock and classic music.
  • Conspicuous Consumption: Their base, Golden Private Studio, cost over 10 billion soundollars, and it resembles a gold-plated castle. They also spend billions of soundollars towards showering their audience.
  • The Rich Have White Stuff: All of the members wear at least gold and white.
  • Princely Young Man: All of the members are rich men.
  • The Rival: They are this towards Trichronika and ShinganCrimisonZ.

  • Big Brother Instinct: This is exaggerated into Promotionto Parent.
  • The Comically Serious: While his bandmates spend comical amount of money, Titan was taken aback by their antics.
  • Determinator: He does not give up his dream to be a top musician, even if he was forced to do unsavory actions.
  • Elegant Classical Musician: Sports this look and play piano.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: His clothes are white on the front, but dark grey on the back. This symbolizes how he pretends to be rich as a front, but is in reality quite poor.
    • Averted in his myumon form.
  • Mock Millionaire: Subverted, although he is publically shown as one of Arcareafact members where they are known for using lots of money, he privately lives in the modest apartment with run down items.
  • Only Sane Man: Unlike his bandmates who do crazy rich antics, Titan questions their actions sometimes.

  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He does not wear a shirt underneath his jacket in myumon form.
    • Averted in Show by Rock!!Fes a Live. He wore a shirt that shows a little glimpse of belly in his myumon form.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: A downplayed example. While she talked down to Mashumairesh despite them being rookies in an elitist way, it was out of high hopes for them rather than genuine contempt for them being unskilled. Even her elitist moment towards Howan was a result of Horrible Judgeof Character than contempt.
  • Big Eater: If her reaction to Howans cooking and her various Bromides in Fes A Live are any indication, she enjoys eating food, especially meat as one bromide has her eating a huge turkey leg while revising a music sheet. She is also shown in some being in the same shot as Tsukino.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: She seems to be this as she mistook Howan's fun-loving enthusiasm for music as driven ambition, this despite Howan being anything but serious throughout most of the series.
  • No Social Skills: If her interaction with Rosia in Stars is any indication, she's has trouble dealing with situations that aren't straightforward as she was shown being confused and almost driven to madness during it.
