    Jormuntide

#101: Jormuntide / Levidra (レヴィドラ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jormuntide101.png
An extremely large dragon, with a snake-like body. Legends says that Jormuntide was once a wise man, who after being wrongly convicted and cast into a whirlpool, returned as this Pal to destroy those who wronged him.

Their Partner Skill is Stormbringer Sea Dragon, which allows the player to mount Jormuntide and allows them to travel on water without losing stamina.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Jormuntide has the highest proficiency in Watering at 4, allowing it to water plants or perform grinder/mill operations at record speed. However, its massive, long body combined with the game's Artificial Stupidity when it comes to pathfinding means that the player needs a specially crafted open-area base; otherwise it gets stuck in tight spaces or on top of structures and becomes unable to perform its job. Its size can also be a liability in combat, as it becomes harder for Jormuntide to position itself in forested or otherwise cramped areas and makes it a very big target for skills like the various Tornado Moves and Lightning Streak, which can hit it multiple times for massive damage, forcing the player to micromanage it constantly.
  • Expy: While it's named after the Norse Jormungandr, it being a massive blue-and-white draconic Sea Serpent with two long beard-like face-tendrils makes it a clear reference to Gyarados.
  • The Great Serpent: It's based on the World Serpent Jormungandr, and it doesn't disappoint in that inspiration, as it is absolutely massive, being taller than a two-story building when just balancing atop its belly on land.
  • "Just So" Story: According to legend, Jormuntide was once a sage who was wrongly convicted and thrown into a whirlpool, and returned as a sea serpent to enact justice on his convicters.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: Its Japanese name is essentially "Leviathan Dragon", and it fits the name well by being an utterly enormous Sea Serpent known by the title "Emperor of the Sea".
  • Mighty Glacier: Its Attack and Health are both quite impressive at 120 and 130 respectively, and its Defense is lower but still quite good at 100. However, it is a bit on the slow side, and its massive size does no favors for its maneuverability.
  • Punny Name: It's a version of the Nordic World Serpent Jormungandr with strong power over tides.
  • Shock and Awe: Surprisingly, one of its level-up moves is Tri-Lightning.
  • Super Swimming Skills: Befitting something known as "Emperor of the Sea", it can move through water effortlessly without tiring, and using it as a mount prevents stamina loss while swimming.
  • Was Once a Man: There exists a legend that Jormuntide used to be a wise man who, after being wrongfully convicted of a crime and cast into a whirlpool, came back as a watery monster to seek revenge on those who wronged him.

#101b: Jormuntide Ignis / Agnidra (アグニドラ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jormuntideignis101b.png
The Fire-element variant of Jormuntide. Legend says that Jormuntide Ignis was once a warrior who, after being wrongly convicted and cast into a volcano, returned as this Pal to destroy those who wronged him.

Their Partner Skill is Stormbringer Lava Dragon, which allows the player to mount Jormuntide Ignis and increases Fire damage dealt by the player and Jormuntide Ignis when mounted.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Like with its regular counterpart, Jormuntide Ignis has the highest proficiency in a stat, this time being Kindling at 4, allowing it to smelt or cook at record speed. However, it shares the same large body as its regular counterpart, doing it no favors in bases that are tightly-spaced or have objects it can get stuck on top of.
  • Disk One Nuke: Can be acquired from very rare Huge Dragon eggs found in the wild as early as the high teens, and share those same Huge Eggs with Relaxaurus, but is also one of the most powerful Pals in the game, period, and would otherwise need to be caught from one of the Nature Sanctuaries — they cannot even be bred up to unlike other examples like Anubis and do not have set boss spawns. Downplayed due to the sheer rarity of happening upon one so early in the game, though.
  • "Just So" Story: According to legend, Jormuntide was once a warrior who was wrongly convicted and thrown into a volcano, and returned as a lava serpent to enact justice on his convicters.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Being terrestrial and Fire-elemental means that Jormuntide Ignis has little to do with the actual tides. Averted by its Japanese name, which instead references the Hindu fire deity Agni.
  • Was Once a Man: Similarly to regular Jormuntide, there is a legend that Jormuntide Ignis was once a warrior who was wrongly convicted of a crime and cast into a volcano, returning as a fiery monster to seek revenge on those who wronged him.

    Suzaku

#102: Suzaku (スザク)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzaku102.png
A Pal that resembles a vermilion bird with yellow markings. Once believed to usher in dry seasons and cause droughts if their numbers were too high, people would cull their numbers in the hopes of having a better harvest.

Their Partner Skill is Wings of Fire, which allows the player to ride Suzaku as a flying mount and increases Fire damage dealt by the player and Suzaku when mounted.
  • Airborne Mook: They're flight-capable Pals that are also aggressive and will attack you on sight.
  • Equipment Upgrade: The Legendary Pump-action Shotgun schematics is a Rare Random Drop from the field Alpha boss.
  • Feathered Fiend: They're fierce-looking birds that are hostile and will attack on sight, and they're also of a higher level than most of the other Pals in their habitat.
  • The Four Gods: It's named after the fire-elemental Vermillion Bird of the four gods and appropriately is a red bird with the power of fire.
  • Irony: Out of The Four Gods, Suzaku represents the cardinal direction of the South. However, in Palworld, Suzaku's natural habitat is one of the northernmost locations.
  • Portent of Doom: They were once believed to usher in the dry season and cause droughts if there were too many of them, causing people to cull their numbers when there was a drought the previous year.

#102b: Suzaku Aqua / Shiva (シヴァ Shiva)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzakuaqua102b.png
The Water-element variation of Suzaku. Once believed to usher in rainy seasons and cause floods if their numbers were too high, people would cull their numbers in the hopes of having a better harvest.

Their Partner Skill is Wings of Water, which allows the player to ride Suzaku Aqua as a flying mount and increases Water damage dealt by Suzaku Aqua when mounted.
  • Ice Magic Is Water: Despite being a pure Water-element Pal, almost half of its learned skills are Ice-elemental. This is notable since this trope is normally averted by most Water Pals, which cannot learn Ice attacks naturally.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Now that it's a Water Pal, it is neither fire-elemental nor Vermillion, but is still essentially the same Pal but with access to powerful Water attacks instead. its Japanese name Shiva fits better since it's based on the Final Fantasy summon version, which has heavy ties to water and ice.
  • Portent of Doom: They were once believed to usher in the rainy season and cause floods if there were too many of them, causing people to cull their numbers when there was a flood the previous year.

    Grizzbolt

#103: Grizzbolt / Elepanda (エレパンダ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grizzbolt103.png
A Pal that looks like a yellow bipedal fat bear. With a friendly smile and a hardy physique, it is docile towards one it recognizes as a partner. For reasons unexplained, its personality undergoes a drastic change when wielding a minigun.

Their Partner Skill is Yellow Tank, which allows the player to mount Grizzbolt and lets it use a minigun to mow down enemies.

One Grizzbolt is owned by Zoe Rayne, the leader of the Rayne Syndicate.
  • Bears Are Bad News: An aggressive pal that will attack humans on sight.
  • Beary Friendly: They're generally quite friendly toward those they recognize as a partner.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While very kindhearted towards their tamers and their friends, they're still territorial bears who will attack any intruders on sight, including the player. Not to mention their personality shifts wildly once it wields a Minigun.
  • Boss Battle: A Grizzbolt under Zoe Rayne's command appears as the boss fight of the Rayne Syndicate tower, the first one the tutorial suggests that players take on.
  • Endangered Species: This pal can only be found and caught in the first Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Expy: They're a bizarre mixture of Electabuzz and Totoro.
  • Gatling Good: Grizzbolt's Partner Skill, Yellow Tank, allows it to wield one.
  • Gentle Giant: They are very docile with their partners… Unless they're holding a Minigun.
  • Hidden Depths: Though a huge bear-like Pal, it has a soft maternal side for children, and one such Grizzbolt raised Zoe Rayne when she was abandoned as a baby.
  • Wolverine Claws: They're surprisingly delicate with them (having a decent Handiwork skill), averting Cumbersome Claws.

    Lyleen

#104: Lyleen / Lilyqueen (リリクイン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lyleen104.png
Lyleen is a Grass plant-like Pal that takes on a humanoid appearance. A docile Pal full of love. It watches over small Pals who have lost their parents. It uses a full-power Solar Blast to discipline naughty Pals.

Their Partner Skill is Harvest Goddess, which allows Lyleen to heal the player for a large amount when activated.

One Lyleen is owned by Lily Everhart, leader of the Free Pal Alliance.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: They're just as punishing towards wrongdoers and miscreants as they are caring toward the rest.
  • Combat Medic: Lyleen's Partner Skill provides the most powerful heal in the game and its combat stats are nothing to sneeze at either. They also come with a variety of powerful Grass skills, and wild Lyleen also have the unique passive skill Spirit Emperor to boost their Grass skills further.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Though generally pretty friendly and caring, their idea of disciplining misbehaving Pals is to hit them with a full-on Solar Blast, A.K.A. a Wave-Motion Gun attack.
  • Expy: It looks like a combination of Bellossom, Gardevoir, and Lilligant.
  • The Medic: Lyleen can greatly heal the player with its Partner Skill. They're also fairly adept at making medicine, as they can drop Low Grade Medical Supplies when caught or defeated and have Level 3 Medicine Production.
  • Mood Whiplash: Lyleen's Paldeck entry mentions that they're extremely kind and loving towards orphaned Pals… before proceeding to state that they use a full-power Solar Blast to discipline naughty ones.
  • Plant Person: They're Grass-elemental Pals that look like noblewomen (though they can be male) in ballgowns with two petals on their heads that bring to mind pigtails. Angling yourself through their model will reveal this extends to them having a pair of long legs and a modestly pronounced butt.
  • Secret A.I. Moves: Lily's Lyleen has a unique Skill in the form of Multicutter, which fires multiple Wind Cutters at a target. This skill cannot be learned by any Lyleen in the player's possession.
  • Utility Party Member: Lyleen is by far the best Planting Pal to use in a base, with a Planting skill of 4, allowing them to plant crops quickly. Besides this, they also have a decent Gathering skill of 2 to help out after the crops have grown.

#104b: Lyleen Noct / Lunaqueen (ルナクイン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lyleennoct104b.png
The Dark-element subspecies of Lyleen. An elegant Pal full of grace. It admonishes any who are disrespectful with a painful slap. Some Pals actively seek out this punishment.

Their Partner Skill is Goddess of the Tranquil Light, which allows Lyleen Noct to heal the player for a large amount when activated.
  • Combat Medic: In addition to having the same healing capability as regular Lyleen, Lyleen Noct also has slightly better stats and a much stronger movepool.
  • Dope Slap: In contrast to regular Lyleen hitting misbehaving Pals with a Solar Blast, Lyleen Noct will heavily slap both Pals and humans that it feels are being direspectful.
  • An Ice Person: Almost half of the skills that Lyleen Noct learns are Ice-elemental, handy against the Dragon Pals that would normally be effective against them.
  • Equipment Upgrade: You might get lucky and be rewarded the schematics for the Legendary Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor upon defeating Lyleen Noct.
  • Gone Horribly Right: The reason they give hard slaps to Pals is in an effort to discipline them for disrespect, but their Paldeck entry notes that there's a decently-sized masochist crowd which actively seek them out and act rowdy to intentionally get slapped.
  • The Medic: Lyleen Noct can greatly heal the player with its Partner Skill. Like its regular counterpart, it can also drop and produce medical supplies.
  • Star-Spangled Spandex: Lyleen Noct's "gown" is deep blue and appears to be lined with stars, resembling the night sky.

    Faleris

#105: Faleris / Horus (ホルス Horusu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/faleris105.png
A Pal that resembles a large black bird adorned in red-and-gold armor. Faleris is a bird that burns entire areas to ash in tornadoes of flame to subdue its prey. Their breath is surprisingly known to have a pleasant aroma.

Their Partner Skill is Scorching Predator, which allows the player to ride Faleris as a flying mount and makes Ice-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught while Faleris is the active Pal.

One Faleris belongs to Marcus Dryden, the leader of the Palapagos Island Defense Force.
  • Airborne Mook: They can be found in the No. 3 Sanctuary and are hostile towards the player on sight.
  • Divine Birds: In the Japanese version, the Pal is named "Horus" after the falcon-headed Egyptian god of vengeance, who avenged the death of his father Osiris by killing his uncle Set. This also explains why you need to breed Anubis with Vanwyrm to obtain it.
  • I Love the Smell of X in the Morning: Humans find their fiery breath to be unexpectedly sweet smelling.
  • Infinity -1 Sword: They are the third-fastest flying mount in the game, behind Jetragon and having the same base flying speed as Frostallion, although its sprint speed is slightly slower than Frostallion.
  • Giant Flyer: Faleris is one of the largest true birds in the game by quite a bit, with even the average one towering over the player. Larger ones (bosses/shinies/alphas) are enormous birds, which when mounted make your character appear very small. This actually makes Ragnahawk superior to it in dungeons, since a mounted Ragnahawk is small enough to fit through dungeon room doors, while Faleris is too big to do so.
  • Jack of All Stats: Its main strength, compared to other high-end Pals, is its relative versatility. A balance of speed and stamina makes it one of the fastest non-Legendary mounts over long distances, and it's also got decently high but balanced stats backed by a strong movepool and decent base utility, making it good all around but not necessarily the best at any one aspect. For instance, Ragnahawk gives more benefits as a combat mount (due to faster speed at the expense of lower stamina, as well as empowering the player's attacks) but has worse skills and is less effective for long range transport, and Shadowbeak is vastly more powerful as a fighter but cannot cross large spans of water when used as a mount and is virtually useless as a worker.
  • Power Up Mount: Faleris is also the fastest non-legendary mount in the game. This is because the Pal has the best balance, so although some monsters can go faster in bursts, with or without sprinting, Faleris is the overall better option due to its great stamina.
  • Random Drop Booster: Their Scorching Predator partner skill makes Ice-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated or caught as long as Faleris is out. By using Faleris' strong attacks (especially Phoenix Flare) to hunt Mammorest Cryst in the Astral Mountains, the player can gather a surprisingly high amount of High-quality Pal Oil required for Polymer used to make weapons and armor.

    Orserk

#106: Orserk / Bolserk (ボルゼクス Boruzekusu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orserk106.png
A formidable Dragon and Electric-elemental Pal, Oserk is a bipedal dragon with black scales marked with yellow zig-zags, yellowish scythe-like eyebrows, and yellow-clawed boots and electric wings. Orserk sport a brutal method of killing — they send electricity into open wounds to roast foes from the inside out. Like a flash of lightning, fights between two Orserk end in the blink of an eye.

Their Partner Skill is Ferocious Thunder Dragon, which makes Water-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught while Orserk is the active Pal.

One Orserk belongs to Axel Traverse, the leader of the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre.
  • Attack the Injury: Its method of killing foes is by sending massive currents into their existing wounds, flash-frying them from the inside out.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Being killed by an Orserk is an unpleasant way to go, especially when their killing method is to send electricity into open wounds to internally fry their foes.
  • Devious Dolphins: They're dragons that are part-orca and are very brutal berserkers, known for giving foes a horrifying electrical death, while also implied to fight each other very often.
  • Disc-One Nuke: Orserk can be obtained by breeding fairly easily as soon as you unlock the mechanic (by breeding Grizzbolt with Relaxaurus, both of whom can be easily caught around the same time). Not only does it have end-game stats, but two of its strongest skills are available as early as level 7, allowing it to start pulling its weight very quickly.
  • Expy: They're likely inspired by Garchomp, even having a similar look but electric- instead of ground- themed. Both of them are bipedal dragons that appear to be based on ferocious marine life (Hammerhead shark for Garchomp, Orca for Orserk) and have power close to legendary Mons.
  • Hidden Depths: One of only three dragon Pals to have any skill in handiwork. And it’s the best of them at using crafting benches.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Orserk has high HP and defense, very high attack just shy of Legendaries, and good movement speed. To top it off, the very first two attacks it learns are its powerful signature move Kerauno, and Lightning Strike, a huge Area of Effect, high-power electric attack.
  • Punny Name: It's an orca-like dragon with a berserker-type attitude.
  • Random Drop Booster: Their Ferocious Thunder Dragon makes Water-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated or caught as long as Orserk is out. Coupled with Orserk's wide-area, massively-damaging Lightning Strike, using one becomes a surprisingly good way to obtain Pal Fluids required for making high-tier Pal Spheres.
  • Shock and Awe: In addition to having Electric as its secondary element, wild Orserk always come with the trait Lord of Lightning, which greatly powers up its Electric skills.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: With its Secret Art Kerauno, Orserk conjures a trident out of lightning and hurls it at an enemy.
  • Utility Party Member: Despite having brutal amounts of combat power, Orserk is also the only Pal with Generating Electricity 4, meaning that a well-fed and well-managed one at a base can keep your electricity-required operations running.

    Shadowbeak

#107: Shadowbeak / Xenogrif (ゼノグリフ Zenogrifu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shadowbeak107.png
A dark elemental griffin-like monster Pal, if it can even be considered one at all. Shadowbeak is an illegally-created experiment that shouldn't exist, born from mad science and horrific biological experimentation. As its DNA is mangled to the point of breaking its genetic traces to other Pals, it's debatable if Shadowbeak is even a Pal anymore.

Their Partner Skill is Modified DNA, which allows the player to ride Shadowbeak as a flying mount and increases Dark damage dealt by Shadowbeak when mounted.

One Shadowbeak is owned by Victor Ashford, the leader of the PAL Genetic Research Unit.
  • Beam Spam: Its unique skill Divine Disaster unleashes a devastating volley of lasers at nearby enemies, which can shred through single tough enemies and groups of weaker ones alike.
  • Bioweapon Beast: It's a Pal that was created by Victor Ashford to be the ultimate combat Pal. Its stats are also tailor-made purely for combat, having high HP, attack, and defense, but it has abysmal base utility with only a Gathering skill of 1.
  • Combat and Support: Pure combat. Shadowbeak has extremely high stats across the board along with a powerful Secret Art, but its work proficiencies are almost nonexistent with only a Gathering skill of 1, making them terrible at late-game base work.
  • Creating Life Is Bad: Shadowbeak is the product of Victor Ashford's ambition and the PGRU's research to create the perfect Pal. By all accounts, the creature is a complete success in their quest and is an absolute powerhouse in battle. However, its existence came at the cost of taking dozens, possibly hundreds, of Pals and experimenting on them by forcibly fusing them in horrific ways. Shadowbeak's genetics are so screwed that the Paldeck says it's not considered a proper Pal anymore and shouldn't even exist.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Shadowbeak was created solely for combat, and in that regard, the PGRU succeeded as its high HP, attack, and defense along with a powerful Secret Art make it one of the most powerful non-Legendaries in the game in terms of combat power. This comes at the expense of it being almost useless as a worker; it can be assigned as a worker at your base, but with only a Gathering skill of 1 (making it about as useful as Chikipi without even the benefit of laying eggs), there are far better Pals to assign. (At least it'll be a nasty surprise for anyone trying to raid you.)
  • Cybernetic Mythical Beast: Wild Shadowbeak will drop Carbon Fiber and Pal Metal Ingots, suggesting it's a Cyborg if not a straight-out robot.
  • Expy: It's a Dark-element Pal with a black-and-grey feathered griffin-like appearance, a pronounced head crest, massive wings, and a spiked ring around its midsection, which was artificially created by a Mad Scientist group to become among the strongest Pals. While plenty of Legendary Pokémon have that backstory, the design elements make for a pretty clear Composite Character of Silvally, Shadow Lugia, and a small hint of Arceus. Its Secret Art is also a combination of Silvally's Multi-Attack (the initial charge) and Arceus's Judgment (the name and Beam Spam).
  • Final Boss: While Palworld is in early access and (at least in its unfinished state) currently too open-ended to have a final boss per senote , Victor and his Shadowbeak are the strongest of the Tower bosses and the one that requires the most exploration and preparation to confront.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: While Victor created Shadowbeak in the story through horrific biological experimentation, the player can make one simply by breeding (granted, it requires a very specific combination of Pals) and they can be caught in the wild. It can also breed with other Pals without issues, despite how mangled its genes are.
  • Genetic Abomination: Bordering on it. While gameplay-wise it isn't particularly incomprehensible other than being an absolute combat monster (complete with a bizarre and very potent Secret Art), the Paldeck description outright states that the thing shouldn't exist at all, and its actual genetics are so utterly mauled by Victor Ashford's experimentation that it's technically not even a Pal anymore.
  • Infinity -1 Sword: Shadowbeak is the non-legendary Pal whose stats come closest to that of Legendaries, if not beating some of them outright. With the right combination of breeding, the player can obtain them far before they're strong enough to catch actual Legendaries.
  • The Juggernaut: Through rigorous breeding and selecting the right traits, you can make a Lightning Bruiser of a monster out of Shadowbeak, that can decimate bosses in seconds. Only Frostallion, with its high HP, trumps it as the current strongest Pal.
  • Magnum Opus: To Victor and the PAL Genetic Research Unit, Shadowbeak is their ultimate creation and their first and only success at creating a Pal purely for combat.
  • Our Gryphons Are Different: Griffon-like Pals wouldn't be out of the ordinary on the Palpagos Islands, but Shadowbeak stands out by being the first and only Pal made by artificial means (i.e., inhumane experimentation and fusions).
  • Secret A.I. Moves: Victor's Shadowbeak has Dark Whisp, a powerful Dark-elemental move that's inaccessible to any Shadowbeak the player can breed or catch. The attack consists of summoning a barrage of Dark Balls that home in on targets for massive damage.
  • Secret Art: Divine Disaster, which has Shadowbeak charging an enemy while unleashing a volley of light orbs that release a devastating barrage of lasers on nearby enemies.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Like with Quivern and Elphidran, Shadowbeak will sink and drown in water instead of hovering over it to regain stamina.
  • Ultimate Lifeform: Victor and the PGRU made Shadowbeak the ultimate Pal and consider it a "success," given how their previous attempts at creating a Pal failed due to the subjects dying too quickly.
  • You Can't Make an Omelette...: The PGRU conducted horrific and cruel experiments on an untold number of Pals to create the perfect creature geared toward combat. Shadowbeak is their only success in that endeavor.

    Paladius

#108: Paladius / Saintaur (セイントール Seintouru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/paladius_2.png

One of the Twin Knights depicted in statue form across the islands alongside its counterpart Necromus. The two are said to descend from the same being, with that being's benevolence and compassion becoming Paladius. In spite of having seemingly split from any negativity, it is said to still be capable of harboring resentment.

Their Partner Skill is Holy Knight of the Firmament, which allows the player to ride Paladius as a mount that can triple jump.

  • Brought Down to Badass: It separated itself from Necromus to purge all negative feelings, becoming a Neutral Pal, which is the weakest element as it offers no trump against another element. Nevertheless, Paladius is absurdly strong, and is the most powerful Neutral monster in the game.
  • Double Jump: Exaggerated. Paladius is the only ground mount that is capable of a triple jump.
  • Dual Boss: Both Paladius and Necromus are fought together. However, the player can exploit Paladius' need to sleep at night by beating/catching Necromus one-on-one first at night, then taking on Paladius at day. If you're unlucky, aggressive Digtoise will sometimes attack you as well.
  • Equipment Upgrade: You might get a Rare Random Drop for defeating this boss, which is the schematics for the Legendary Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor.
  • An Ice Person: Despite being a Neutral-elemental, almost half of its naturally-learned moves are Ice-elemental.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Downplayed — while Paladius is said to have freed itself from all negative feelings due to said feelings being embodied by Necromus instead, they can still harbor traces of it.
  • Heavenly Blue: Downplayed as it's not necessarily good, but its blue and gold color scheme mark Paladius as being more benevolent than its counterpart.
  • Jousting Lance: Befitting its knightly motif, Paladius wields a lance in combat.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: A noble centaur knight dressed in glimmering silver armor.
  • Literal Split Personality: Paladius and Necromus were once a single entity before splitting by unknown means, with Paladius representing its compassionate and honorable side.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: During its Secret Art Spear Thrust, Paladius uses its shield to protect itself from attacks while performing a charge attack with its lance.
  • Non-Elemental: While it has a light motif, Paladius is Neutral.
  • Olympus Mons: One of the Legendary Pals of the islands. While it's uncertain how divine it really is, Paladius is clearly revered by the people of the Palpagos Islands given the statues of it and Necromus, and it certainly has the power to back it up.
  • Our Centaurs Are Different: Effectively a combination of a knight and their steed, Paladius has a humanoid upper body on a quadrupedal lower frame.
  • The Resenter: Despite embodying positivity, Paladius is said to harbour feelings of resentment.

    Necromus

#109: Necromus / Banetaur (ベイントール Beintouru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/necromus.png
One of the Twin Knights depicted in statue form on the Palpagos Islands, Necromus is said to have split from the same being as Paladius, embodying its negativity and resentment. However, a glimmer of compassion remains in its eyes.

Their Partner Skill is Dark Knight of the Abyss, which allows the player to ride Necromus as a mount that can double jump.
  • Black Knight: Similarly to Paladius, Necromus appears as a centaur knight, albeit dressed in dark armor and with a more malevolent personality.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Its arms end in a pair of lances.
  • Dual Boss: Both Paladius and Necromus are fought together. However, the player can exploit Necromus' nocturnal capability by beating/catching it one-on-one first at night, then taking on Paladius at day.
  • Equipment Upgrade: A Rare Random Drop for defeating Necromus is the schematics for the Legendary Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor.
  • Evil Is Burning Hot: Necromus is less evil and more a Dark-elemental embodiment of negative and resentful emotions, but it does use the Fire-elemental Spirit Fire alongside its Dark moves, one of which is Spirit Flame that can burn whatever it hits.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Despite embodying negativity, Necromus is said to have a glint of compassion in its eyes.
  • Literal Split Personality: Necromus and Paladius were one and the same before, but they have since split into separate entities, with the resentment and negativity inside that being becoming Necromus.
  • Nocturnal Mooks: Unlike Paladius, Necromus doesn't sleep at night due to being a Dark-elemental Pal. This allows you to turn a Dual Boss into a much easier fight by fighting Necromus at night as Paladius sleeps, and then taking on Paladius at day.
  • Olympus Mons: Necromus, like Paladius, is depicted in statue form across the Palpagos islands and is one of the strongest Pals in the game, hinting at it being something greater than your usual Pal.
  • Our Centaurs Are Different: Necromus is effectively a knight and their mount merged into a single entity in design, possessing a humanoid upper body and an equine lower half.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Downplayed as it's not necessarily evil, but its red and black color scheme mark Necromus as being less benevolent than its counterpart.

    Frostallion

#110: Frostallion / Glacial (グレイシャル Graysharu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frostallion110.png
Guardian deity of Palpagos Island, known as the Winter Caller. In the past, when a calamity struck the land, it soared into the sky and sealed away the threat by casting the island into an eternal winter.

Their Partner Skill is Ice Steed, which allows the player to ride Frostallion as a flying mount. When mounted, the player's attacks deal Ice-elemental damage, and both the player's and Frostallion's Ice-elemental attacks are boosted.
  • Endless Winter: According to its lore, it sealed away a calamity by casting the island into eternal an eternal winter.
  • Equipment Upgrade: A Rare Random Drop for defeating this boss is the Legendary Pal Metal Helmet schematics.
  • Destructive Saviour: It is said to have once sealed away a great calamity in the past, by freezing the entire island.
  • Expy: It's an icy legendary steed that has a shadowy counterpart of itself, bringing to mind Glastrier.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Is prepared to plunge an entire island into eternal winter to prevent a calamity destroying the world.
  • Guardian Entity: It is the guardian god of the Palpagos Islands, and protects it from a unspecified calamitous being by vanquishing the threat with its powers.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Has the highest stat total in the game, only beaten by its Noct variation. However, Jetragon is a better mount by virtue of having much better flight speed and the capability to hover over water.
  • Olympus Mons: Frostallion is one of (currently) five Legendary Pals in the game. It's the guardian deity of the Palpagos Islands, known as the Winter Caller. When a calamity struck the land in the past, it flew into the sky and sealed the threat away by throwing the island into an eternal winter.
  • Pegasus: Frostallion is a Pegasus with white fur and wings, a set of blue ice on its hooves, legs and forehead and it has a gray mane and tail.
  • Poor, Predictable Rock: As a Legendary Boss, all of its attacks are Ice except the very weak Neutral-Elemental Air Cannon, unlike the other three who have skills that deal damage of other elements (such as Jetragon using Fire skills to hit Ice Pals hard). This means using a Fire-elemental Pal can help a lot, as it will not only be effective against Frostallion, but will also resist all its skills except its weakest one. It's averted once the player captures it and teaches it other elemental moves or crafts its saddle, as its Partner Skill boosts the damage from those Ice-elemental attacks by a huge amount when it's mounted, allowing it to put on the hurt with only Ice attacks.
  • Red Baron: The island's people call Frostallion the "Winter Caller," likely referencing the creature's mastery over ice and snow.
  • Single Specimen Species: Along with the four strongest Legendary Pals, Frostallion can never have the Lucky Passive Skill as an Olympus Mons boss in the wild. The only way to breed it, is with itself. This is averted with Frostallion Noct, as the Pal needed to breed with it can be Lucky.
  • Spell Blade: When Frostallion is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Ice-elemental. This is then boosted by Frostallion's ability to enhance all Ice attacks while mounted.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Like Quivern, Elphidran, and Shadowbeak, Frostallion will sink and drown in water instead of hovering over it to regain stamina.
  • Utility Party Member: No monster is better at running the cooler boxes/refrigerator than this deity which has a lv 4 work suitability skill, and can achieve a perfect lv 5, through breeding and use of the Pal Condenser.

#110b: Frostallion Noct / Glashadow (グレイシャドウ Grayshadow)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frostallionnoct110b.png
Guardian deity of Palpagos Island known as the Night Caller. In the past, when a calamity struck the land, it soared into the sky and sealed away the threat by casting the island into eternal darkness.

Their Partner Skill is Black Steed, which allows the player to ride Frostallion Noct as a flying mount. When mounted, the player's attacks deal Dark-elemental damage, and both the player's and Frostallion Noct's Dark-elemental attacks are boosted.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: It's the dark elemental form of the guardian deity of the Palpagos Islands, that fights for the greater good.
  • Destructive Saviour: Like its ice counterpart, it is said to have sealed away a great calamity in the past, by enveloping the land in unending darkness.
  • Divine Parentage: Does not exist anywhere in the wild, and can only be obtained by breeding, meaning Frostallion and a Helzephyr both have to be its parents. Interestingly, it identifies as a Dark-elemental version of the Guardian god of the islands that sired it.
  • Expy: It's a shadowy legendary steed that has an icy counterpart of itself, bringing to mind Spectrier. The smaller younger form of Frostallion also appears to reference Princess Luna from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Has no qualms with casting an entire island into eternal darkness to seal away a calamity that threatens the world.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Has the highest stat total in the game, making it a Master of All.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Has the highest stat total in the game, with 140 base HP and Attack and 135 base Defense, and it along with Frostallion have a fast mount speed.
  • Master of All: Frostallion Noct has the highest stat total of all Pals, with all stats being 135-140, as well as learning several powerful moves. Oddly enough, Frostallion Noct isn't the highest in every category — Mammorest has 150 HP, Necromus has 145 Attack, and Paladius has 145 Defense.
  • The Night That Never Ends: According to its lore, it sealed away a calamity by casting the island into eternal darkness.
  • Olympus Mons: Like its Ice variant, Forstallion Noct is one of five Legendary Pals (currently) in the game; known as the Night Caller, it's another guardian deity of the Palpagos Islands. When a calamity hit the land in the past, it flew into the sky and sealed away the threat by throwing the island into eternal darkness.
  • Red Baron: Like its Ice-elemental variant, the island's people call Frostallion Noct the "Night Caller," referring to its complete control over darkness.
  • Secret Character: Frostallion Noct cannot be obtained or seen by any means other than breeding Frostallion with a Helzephyr (or two Frostallion Noct).
  • Spell Blade: When Frostallion Noct is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Dark-elemental. This is then boosted by Frostallion Noct's ability to enhance all Dark attacks while mounted.
  • Underground Monkey: It's a variant of a legendary Pal that's Dark instead of Ice-elemental and has a stronger defense stat.
  • The Unfought: It's the only legendary Pal that cannot be encountered in the wild, and must be obtained by capturing Frostallion and breeding it with a Helzephyr.
  • Utility Party Member: Besides being the most powerful Pal as of now, Frostallion Noct is also the only Pal with a Gathering skill of 4, allowing it to harvest crops extremely quickly if assigned to a base. As a Dark-elemental, it's also capable of harvesting throughout the night, but isn't too big of a night utility due to no nocturnal Planting or Watering Pals existing yet.

    Jetragon

#111: Jetragon / Jedragon (ジェッドラン Jeddoran)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jetragon.png
A Legendary cybernetic dragon Pal that flies through the air with unparalleled speed. It watches over the Palpagos islands from above, awaiting the return of an unspecified calamitous being in preparation to destroy it.

Their Partner Skill is Aerial Missile, which allows the player to ride Jetragon as a flying mount and also allows it to use a homing missile storm while mounted.
  • Beam Spam: It's Secret Art Beam Comet has Jetragon raining down numerous laser beams onto the enemy.
  • Bragging Rights Reward: While it is bar none the best mount in the game, actually being able to ride Jetragon requires you to be at the maximum level of 50 and to have bested and captured Jetragon itself (which is also at level 50), at which point you might not have much to actually do with it.
  • Cybernetic Mythical Beast: It's a dragon with jets attached to it which allows it to fly extremely fast. Additionally, the items it drops when caught or defeated are either minerals or synthetic materials, further reinforcing the idea that it's robotic rather than organic. In addition, after defeat, its corpse will be seen sparking.
  • Equipment Upgrade: If you’re lucky, defeating the boss will net you the Legendary Rocket Launcher schematics as a Rare Random Drop.
  • Glass Cannon: Compared to almost any other Pal, Jetragon is a Lightning Bruiser with 140 base Attack and 110 base HP and Defense. However, in the scope of Legendary Pals (and Shadowbeak), Jetragon's HP/defense is lacking compared to Shadowbeak's 120/140, Paladius' 130/145, Necromus' 130/120, Frostallion's 140/120, and Frostallion Noct's 140/135. It makes up for all this by trumping all of them in sheer movement speed.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Jetragon is by far and away the best mount in the entire game, capable of flying over twice as fast as most previous mounts. In terms of overall stats, it's actually weaker than Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus, and Shadowbeak, however.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Their Partner Skill allows them to fire a storm of homing rockets when mounted.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Absolutely nothing is revealed about "the calamity" that Jetragon awaits in its Paldeck entry, aside from the mass destruction it will wreak upon the world and that Jetragon will face and defeat it.
  • Olympus Mons: Its Paldeck entry describes it as a protector of the islands, with the power to eliminate an unnamed calamity that awakens to threaten it.
  • Super-Speed: It has the highest flying speed in the entire game, with no other Pals coming close to it.
  • Wallbonking: Due to its fast speed and pathfinding, it’s impractical to have on your party to attack wild Pals. Jetragon will charge at enemies, but keep circle strafing them without actually attacking to deal any damage.
    Bellanoir

#112: Bellanoir

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bellanoir112.png
A Dark-element Pal that appears to be a humanoid lady in black. Originally, she was a non-existent entity who quietly gazed upon the world, but was overcome with a longing to be seen. This brought her into the world as the Eclipsed Siren, with a vengeance against reality itself.

Their Partner Skill is Nightmare Stare, which allows the player to command them to use Nightmare Bloom on a selected target.
  • Boss Battle: She's the first Raid Boss that a player can fight in the game.
  • Contractual Boss Immunity: As a Raid Boss, Bellanoir cannot be caught by Spheres at all. You only obtain her egg once she is defeated.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: Even at level 30, she has 294,000 health, which is way more than Victor and Shadowbeak. You're intended to fight her with your army at Pals at a base.
  • Glass Cannon: By Legendary standards; 120 HP and 100 Defense are definitely not bad compared to normal Pals, but her defensive stats pale compared to other Legendaries and definitely in comparison to her 150 Attack, the highest in the game.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The Paldeck states that she was a non-existent entity that was brought into the world, harboring a vengeance against reality itself.
  • An Ice Person: The Raid Boss version of Bellanoir will gain Ice attacks when she Turns Red.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: She only wanted to be noticed by others, but being unreal was unable to manifest. Filled with hatred for reality, the Pal tore her way into our world and manifested as Bellanoir, the Eclipsed Siren.
  • Liminal Being: Bellanoir was a nonexistent entity that gazed upon the world, but due to a sudden longing to be seen developed a grudge against reality itself, thus manifesting into existence. This makes them a being of both nonexistence and existence at once.
  • The Medic: Bellanoir is the only Pal with a Medicine skill of 4, making her the Pal that's best suited for medicine at a base.
  • One-Gender Race: Downplayed. Bellanoir is explicitly mentioned to be a female in their Paldeck entry (using "she" as pronouns), but they do have a small 5% chance to be male, which is even lower than Beegarde's and Elizabee's 10%.
  • Paradox Person: According to the Paldeck, Bellanoir was a nonexistent entity that gazed on the world from a place beyond reality, but was overcome with a longing to be seen.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Her Partner Skill, Nightmare Stare, is a giant laser that Bellanoir fires at opponents. She tilts her body forward with the top of her head pointing at her opponent, then starts spinning rapidly before releasing powerful Dark elemental blasts from each of the "eyes" of her dress.

#112b: Bellanoir Libero

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bellanoirlibero112b.png
The Superboss version of Bellanoir. Like her sister Bellanoir, she was another nonexistent entity, but instead longed for a self to gaze upon herself. She and her sister gazed upon each other as they were driven into the abyss.

Their Partner Skill is Nightmare Stare, which allows the player to command them to use Nightmare Bloom on a selected target.
  • Boss Battle: She's an upgraded version of Bellanoir, a Raid Boss that can be fought by the player.
  • Contractual Boss Immunity: As a Raid Boss, Bellanoir Libero cannot be caught by Spheres at all. You only obtain her egg once she is defeated.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: She has around 450,000 HP, which is way more than Victor and Shadowbeak. You're intended to fight her with your army at Pals at a base. Her Ultra form tops even that, with around 900,000 health to bring down.
  • An Ice Person: The Raid Boss version of Bellanoir Libero will gain Ice attacks when she Turns Red.
  • Puff of Logic: The desire to be noticed by others has overwhelmed both Bellanoir Libero and her sister. It becomes a self-absorbed narcissism to gaze only upon herself, until she returns to the abyss of non-being, from whence she came. This resolves the paradox.
  • Superboss: By using Bellanoir Libero's tablets to summon her, you can fight a level 50 version of her with even more health and higher stats than regular Bellanoir. Beating her will give you a Bellanoir Libero (Ultra) slab, which summons an even more powerful version of Bellanoir Libero with even greater stats.
