Hannah

A server at a tavern on Krawk Island. After discovering a hidden pirate treasure trove in a book one day, she's grown an insatiable appetite for adventure.
  • Action Girl: She's an adventurer and explorer.
  • Ascended Extra: She started off with her own Flash game and a two-part Neopedia article about her adventure, which were both high quality and more than most Neopets characters got, but nothing that implied there would be anything more to her. Then they threw her into a more serious plot...
  • Badass Boast: At the beginning of the Ice Caves comic, she sings about her adventures in a tavern.
They call me Hannah the brave, Hannah the quick / I'll get you the gems and be out in a tick / Pirates and ghouls are no match for me / When they see Hannah coming, they all turn and flee!
  • The Hero: Of Hannah and the Ice Caves.
  • Fountain of Expies: Many later plot protagonists borrowed traits from her.
  • Married at Sea: At the end of Curse of Maraqua, she is seen aboard a ship marrying Kanrik.
  • Mascot: Of the Quest Log, a feature that was introduced in 2023 where players can complete daily tasks in order to get a valuable weekly prize.
  • Scars Are Forever: Even after Taelia removes its evil magic, Hannah is informed that the Mark of Ta-Kutep will remain with her forever.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: The Mark of Ta-Kutep, which seems to be slowly killing her. Taelia is able to heal her in the end, however.

Kanrik

The current leader of the Thieves Guild. He took over upon defeating the former leader, Galem Darkhand. He used to be a lover of Masila, though now it's been heavily hinted that he's in a relationship with Hannah.
  • The Atoner: After being betrayed by Masila and left for dead by the Thieves Guild, he decides to make amends with Hannah after stumbling upon her and Armin.
  • Badass Cape: He has a dark purple cloak.
  • Back for the Dead: He returns for Neopets' 20th anniversary event, only to get poisoned and possibly killed at the end of it.
  • The Cameo: Makes two in The Faerie's Ruin.
  • Gentleman Thief: He is this.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After Masila betrayed him, he joined Hannah's side.
  • Implied Love Interest: There is surprisingly a lot of Hannah/Kanrik Ship Tease post Ice Caves. It's not fully clear if they are an Official Couple or if someone on TNT just really likes the pairing, but the amount is staggering to the point where it's technically canon. In fact, the only real room for ambiguity is the fact that TNT hasn't officially confirmed it as of yet.
    • The start of Curse of Maraqua opens with pirates crashing a wedding. One shot shows the bride and groom in the background, and, while they're only shown from the back, they look conspicuously familiar. Either they're just look-a-likes or Hannah and Kanrik decided to get hitched.
    • Kanrik has a line in the Obelisk event that implies he's 'busy' spending time with Hannah.
"What do you mean, what am I doing? I'm working, I'm— one moment Hannah!— very busy."
    • Editorial 587 has Hanso directly reference the Kanrik/Hannah, Jazan/Nabile, and Hanso/Brynn ships, only to be silenced as "Neopets is not a dating site."
    • The December 23rd, 2022 Advent Calendar has a shot of Hannah and Kanrik sharing a Held Gaze near the fireplace. To make things better, one of the items for that day was all but outright stated to be a love letter from Kanrik to Hannah.
  • Irony: He is a Gelert, a species usually known for being heroic and loyal, but he is a thief and a betrayer, albeit one that eventually turns good.
  • Klingon Promotion: Becomes leader of the Thieves Guild by killing Galem.
  • Kubrick Stare: See the picture on the right? He doesn't really look like someone you want to let near your precious Faerie Queen Doll...
  • Lovable Rogue: He can be very charming and charismatic.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Initially. He tells Hannah a sob story about his sister being sick to convince her to lead him to a lost tomb, where the cure supposedly could be found. In reality, he was on a mission to retrieve an ancient coffin for Galem.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Although he helps Hannah, he continues his thieving ways and remains the leader of the Thieves' Guild. Seems old habits die hard.
  • Thieves' Guild: He's the leader of Neopia's Thieves Guild.

Masila

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hannah_4.jpg
A scheming Acara who was supposedly the lover of Galem, but her true feelings were for Kanrik. However, that didn't stop her from betraying him.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: She isn't called the Mistress of the Double-Cross for nothing.
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: Her species is even cat-like!
  • Dark Mistress: The lover of both Galem and Kanrik.
  • Dirty Coward: She would prefer underhanded tactics like manipulation, poison and hidden blades as opposed to actually fighting opponents. The moment things start to go wrong for her, she opts to slip away into the night.
  • Femme Fatale: She is known as the Mistress of the Double-Cross.
  • Karma Houdini: Is still at large after the story.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She plays both Kanrik and Galem like a fiddle in her scheme to lead the Thieves Guild from the shadows.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: A TCG card's flavour text describes her cloak as this almost word-for-word.
  • Outlaw Couple: With Galem, though she doesn't really love him. She's also this with Kanrik, though she quickly discards him once Galem learns about their plot to use the Bringer to usurp him.
  • Pimped-Out Cape: She has a fancy purple cloak that could possibly have magical powers.
  • The Sociopath: To her, everyone is a disposable pawn that serve as stepping stones to her path to become leader of the Thieves Guild.

Galem Darkhand

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hannah_6.jpg
The former leader of the Thieves Guild. He led an attack on the Bori in the Ice Caves. Masila and Kanrik plotted his death, but when that failed, Galem attempted an alliance with the Bringer of Night, only to be betrayed by him as well. Galem lost a fight with Kanrik in the Ice Caves and it was heavily implied that he was killed.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: He may be the head of the Thieves Guild, but he's just an Unwitting Pawn to Masila and the Bringer of Night is a much worse threat than him.
  • Blatant Burglar: Out of all the thieves, his is the outfit (complete with mask) that screams this the most.
  • Cool Mask: He wears one.
  • Killed Off for Real: It is assumed that Kanrik ended up killing him.
  • No Honor Among Thieves: Lampshaded by the flavour text of his TCG card: "They say there is honour among thieves. There was, until HE arrived."
  • Outlaw Couple: With Masila, though she is feigning love for him.
  • Rugged Scar: He has three parallel scars on his mouth.

Armin

A small Bori who befriended Hannah.

The Bringer of Night

An ancient Moehog who once waged war against the Bori tribe. They froze themselves in ice to escape him, and in the meantime he was laid to rest in a tomb in the Lost Desert. He was freed by the Thieves Guild and once again attacked the Bori.

The Keeper of Time

The leader of the Bori tribe who watched over them while they were frozen for their protection.
