Team Buccellati

    Olivia Zeppeli

Olivia Zeppeli (Stand: Siouxsie The Banshee)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Erica Mendez (English), Ami Koshimizu (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_olivia_v2.png
"What's the big deal about my last name? Everywhere I go, I get weird looks about my name. It's fucking nuts."

"I'm already trying to adapt in this unfair world. I know what I want… I'm just waiting for that opportunity to come to me."

A young woman who came to Naples in search of both an honest living and to find her missing parents after living with a guardian for two years when she was separated from her parents.

Unlike Hitomi and Fubuki, Olivia awakened her Stand naturally and already has it by the time she tries joining Passione. It is named after Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Siouxsie The Banshee is a versatile stand, allowing not just the ability to use puzzle pieces as projecticles, but also allow Olivia to break up to around 80% of her body into them. This allows her to get through tight spaces and evade physical attacks by breaking part of her body apart and then reconstructing it. Similar to Sticky Fingers, she can separate her limbs from her body and control them. Its secondary ability is to summon a Black Puzzle Piece that brings bad luck to anything it gets attached to. However, it must be used up as soon as its summoned.

  • Art Evolution: Siouxsie The Banshee's helmet was changed in April 2022, now making her appearance closer to a black cat.
  • Action Girl: Capable of fending for herself in a fight.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Not only is she a competent fighter despite her wisecracking personality, she can also get very hot-blooded if angered enough. Her introduction makes this clear when she viciously retaliates in self-defense against Leaky-Eye Luca for not holding up his side of the bargain in the drinking game she challenged him to, which turned out to be an effort to take back money he extorted from her friend Prudenza.
Olivia: Why don't YOU shut your goddamn mouth, you walking testicle?! You deserve this, after what you did to Prudenza!!
    Luca: Prudenza...?
Olivia: That's right, fucker! That poor girl you beat up today and took her money! Did you know she used to be a co-worker of mine?!
    (...)
Olivia: If you ever beat Prudenza again, I'll rip out your fucking balls from your tiny dick and throw them under a speeding car! Bastardo!
  • Believing Their Own Lies: She tried to repress that her mother died in her murder-suicide, just to have additional hope as she searched for her father. She held on to it for as long as she possibly could until Illuso recounted that event as part of his intel on Olivia, causing her to break down from facing the facts.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Develops one on Trish.
  • Casting Gag: Her Japanese HCC is also known for voicing Mai Shiranui, who is also a flaunty Proud Beauty and has a Buxom Beauty Standard.
  • Cleavage Window: Her top exposes her cleavage a fair bit. Helps that she's also quite busty.
  • Comical Overreacting: Has one of these in chapter 15, following her Not What It Looks Like blunder as Mista tries to comfort her.
  • Coming-Out Story: Olivia is Transgender. This is something that's foreshadowed as early as her introduction, and is only subtly built up until chapter 20, with her explaining to Fugo after Illuso falsely claims her name is fake due to no records of her name being born in Naples. Until then, only Mista and Bruno knew this about her.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Having to get by in a mafia-ridden Naples made Olivia able to be one step ahead of Giorno when they first meet, as he steals her wallet, only to find nothing in it except a piece of paper taunting him. Olivia had stashed away her wallet's contents before he stole it.
  • Compulsive Liar: This is something established about Olivia at the very beginning, and is subtly shown throughout the story before it gets more light shone on it after Gamberi reveals from their intel that they know that Olivia has a reputation for being a natural liar.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Olivia is with no doubt a snide remark machine at just about every turn, even to her own enemy in the White Album arc. This naturally doesn't go unnoticed by her peers:
Buccellati: Does your mouth ever have a filter?
  • Disney Death: Has a short one during The Mystery of King Crimson via the same type of attack through the chest that Diavolo did to Buccellati originally. Unlike Bruno though, she survives the arc alive and well.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Just like Bruno and Giorno, she also hates drugs. This ends up being why she feels upset to the verge of tears towards Prudenza after she finds out she's been taking them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First appeared in Hitomi's flashback of her last time in Italy in Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain as the girl Hitomi saved in the nick of time from a bullet. Hitomi realizes this in chapter 11.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her name has an additional letter than "Oliva", the Italian word for Olive.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Her introduction in the very first chapter is one big case of this, introducing multiple things about Olivia's character.
    • Her abandonment issues and her tendency to lie when Burro forces Mr. Abruzzi (Olivia's boss) to replace Olivia with Burro's nephew. Abruzzi is upset about the situation as he informs Olivia he has to let her go, and while Olivia thanks him for helping her up to that point, she hides that she feels betrayed and just as mad at him as she is at Burro for letting her go so easily despite the situation.
    • Later, her fierce anger is shown off when she retaliates in self-defense against Leaky-Eye Luca. After that, her abandonment issues become clear once again when Prudenza refuses her help and leaves after Olivia finds out she's been taking drugs and desperately tries to set her straight.
Olivia: Don't...Please don't leave me too...
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: During her fight with Pesci in the Grateful Dead arc, she sends a black puzzle piece towards Pesci that seemingly misses him, but actually hit a light structure above him instead. This causes a brief diversion as sparks fall on him.
  • Friends with Benefits: With Mista, seemingly until he gets with Giorno in chapter 32.
  • The Gadfly: Loves to push people's buttons. It's also her way of trying to read people.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She naturally has green eyes, but later on, she starts acting like this once she sees Giorno and Mista kiss, and Trish seemingly winning Bruno's affection, as her spiteful behavior towards Giorno and Bruno afterwards is strongly implied to fueled by jealousy.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Despite loving to push people's buttons and make snide remarks, she knows when to cut it out if things are serious, such as when Bruno brings up why he's troubled soon after Olivia was in stitches with her prank-gift to Abbacchio in chapter 4.
  • How Dare You Die on Me!: When Bruno is seemingly dead during the events of The Mystery of King Crimson, she conveys this alongside some Berserker Tears, slapping his face in a desperate attempt for him to wake up.
Olivia: Get up, Bruno! Goddammit, you asshole! You never backed away from anything in your life! Now fight! Fight!
She slapped him again and again. She is on the verge of a breakdown.
Olivia: Right now! Do it! Fight, goddammit! Fight! Fiiiiight!!
  • I Owe You My Life: Her biggest reason why she's so close to Mista and already knows him by the beginning is because he saved her life a year before the story's events. This is revealed to be the same event from Mista's backstory.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Twice in chapter 14. One when she's impressed with Abbacchio fixing her dislocated arm, where upon asking if he was a chiropractor before joining the gang, Fugo, Narancia, and Mista wince since they seem to know of the events of his backstory (which is confirmed by Narancia in chapter 16). The other is upon the team learning the Boss has a daughter, Olivia cracks a joke that she's probably ugly, not knowing that said daughter is right there. This naturally offends Trish much to Olivia's regret upon realizing it, and this causes Trish to cast glares at Olivia for a portion of the story.
  • It Can Think: Similar to Sex Pistols, Siouxsie The Banshee does seem to have a mind of its own and is capable of talking.
  • Karmic Nod: In chapter 37, she outright was willing to drink Giorno's piss from a teacup as him getting even with her for a mean-spirited joke she made in the previous chapter. It turns out it was just normal tea, much to her annoyance after Giorno tricked her into thinking it wasn't.
  • Kiai: Has a unique single word example similar to Spice Girl: "SPEEELLBOUNND!!"
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Is probably the most foul-mouthed member of Bruno's team (and all protagonists in this series for that matter). That's right, even more than Narancia and Abbacchio. To put that into perspective, she's dropped 30 out of 81 F-Bombs in the whole story as of chapter 40. She's essentially a walking Cluster F-Bomb.
  • Leg Focus: She's noted to have nice legs by passersbys in her introduction and by Mista a few times in the story.
  • Lethal Chef: Was not a good cook before she met Mista. One time, she got evicted from her previous apartment for accidentally starting a fire because of it.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Does this in her introduction prior to the drinking game with Leaky-Eye Luca.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: How the Internal Reveal about Giorno killing Luca happens, as she runs her mouth about it in an outburst due to her resentment towards Bruno by that point in addition to his presence. She immediately tries to cover her mouth upon realizing what she said, but needless to say, she already said it.
  • Proud Beauty: She doesn't mind the compliments she gets about her looks, especially in her introduction and around Mista. This goes hand in hand with her job at Club L'amore as a dancer, which she performs with a Stripperific outfit.
  • Rage Breaking Point: By chapter 38, multiple negative emotions (from losing Mista as her FWB and Trish seemingly only showing affection for Buccellati) seem to come very close to boiling over, as a pillar she punched with her Stand in her anger began to crack even further after chaos ensues from her Internal Reveal, but then it reverts. However, it is also heavily implied it happened before.
  • Repression Never Ends Well / Suppressed Rage:
    • For a long part of her life, Olivia repressed the fact that her mother died in her Near-Death Experience despite vividly remembering what happened, just to have some hope she was still alive as she searched for her father. It all comes crashing down when Illuso reads his intel on her to her face, forcing her to confront the fact that her mother is dead, which causes her to loudly scream in grief from hearing it.
    • Starting with chapter 38, she begins feeling hateful towards Bruno for keeping her in the dark about her father and also seemingly winning Trish's affection, who Olivia also crushed on. She keeps it to herself, but it starts leaking out when she feels irritation just from Bruno's presence to where she slips about what really happened to Leaky-Eye Luca, also withdrawing her First-Name Basis with him in the process. This is also hinted at earlier on but with Giorno after she sees him and Mista kiss, which prompts her to pull a mean-spirited joke on him after he tells Olivia about his affection for Mista.
  • Ruder and Cruder: Compared to Hitomi and Fubuki, she's a LOT more crass and provocative than they ever were. Hitomi and Fubuki rarely cussed, and while they had their own Covert Pervert tendencies, Olivia not only swears a lot, but she's quite open about her dirty side.
  • Sequence Breaking: On top of already having her Stand by the time of the story, unlike presumably everyone who took Polpo's test, Olivia actually managed to keep the lighter from going out for the full 24 hours. This astonishes Mista. As a result, however, this makes her unaware of Black Sabbath until Giorno takes the test and she tries to help him in secret.
Mista: So, you're telling me… you actually NEVER let the flame of the lighter die out? For twenty-four hours?
Olivia: Yes. Hang on… did I do something wrong? Was something else supposed to happen?
  • Survivor Guilt: Had a case of this after she found out Mista went to prison after he saved her, at least until she had a fateful encounter with him after he was released from prison thanks to Buccellati.
  • Taking the Bullet: In chapter 38, she takes a blow from Fegato's Drawn that was meant for Fugo after Olivia tried attacking Fegato.
  • Tell Me About My Father: In addition to wanting to know more about the truth about her family's history with gangsters, she asks Bruno this in chapter 37.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Downplayed, she is the only female member of the team until Trish comes along.
  • The Tease: She usually is this in verbal form with crude jokes and remarks, but she's also not afraid of using her looks as well, especially around Mista.
  • Trauma Button: Anything that reminds her of when her mother drove her car off a harbor with her in it as a Murder-Suicide, with Olivia nearly drowning in the process as she helplessly watched the car fill up with water. As a result, anything like drowning in an enclosed space underwater and reckless driving can easily cause her to become unresponsive and/or curl up in a Troubled Fetal Position. This ends up hindering her during the White Album arc when Giorno has no choice but to drive the car off the bridge. Chapter 37 also reveals it came up again when Coco Jumbo fell into the water when Clash destroyed the boat they were on.
  • Trickster Girlfriend: Despite only being Friends with Benefits, Olivia displays this trait around Mista in casual moments between the two. Also applies to her invoked Distracted by the Sexy moment in chapter 12.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Has two major examples:
    • Earlier on, Olivia not getting along with Fugo made her address him by his last name out of spite, making him the sole exception to her affectionate First-Name Basis to the rest of the team. Following her having to come out to him as transgender due to Illuso's intel on her raising some questions, she begins to call him "Panna" instead as a unique Affectionate Nickname. She even keeps this up despite Fugo's initial refusal to follow the group as traitors to the gang, which causes Fugo to change his mind and stay with the group.
    • Later on, this ends up being the case when it signals her resentment towards Bruno for not telling her about her father's whereabouts and seemingly winning Trish's affection before her. This causes her to start calling him by his last name instead, which Bruno notices but hasn't seemed to figure out the reason for why.

    Giorno Giovanna

Giorno Giovanna (Stand: Gold Experience)

For tropes applying to Giorno originally, see here.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Meets Olivia in Chapter 2, and has subsequent encounters with her before his proper introduction to the story.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Is established to be gay, and becomes an Official Couple with Mista.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Giorno is shown to still have the effects of his childhood trauma, such as disliking being touched, and still being afraid of the dark, which he's able to mitigate with his Stand to create fireflies in one scene.
    • Giorno gets to demonstrate what he learned from fighting Baby Face soon after the fight by turning a knife Chorogi stabbed Abbacchio with into replacement flesh.
  • Continuity Nod: He gets to use his ear trick from his introduction again during the dinner in chapter 15.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • When he meets Josuke, he develops a crush on him, much to Josuke's horrified disgust. Simply because Josuke knows that they're technically related (which Jotaro forbade from anyone he sent telling him that or about Dio), and Giorno doesn't.
    • During the aftermath of finding out his parents had been killed, Giorno explains to Mista how he's really sad because he has no family left after the deaths of his parents. Little does he know that he still has the other living Joestars, one of which he even crossed paths with earlier on in the story, and even then, he's in the company of his elderly sister-in-law, which he also doesn't know about.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Appeared all the way back in Star-Crossed Crusaders as a child. He was babysat by Hitomi.
  • Hates Being Touched: Is established to have this in chapter 3. Much like certain applications of this trope that are Truth in Television, it's because of the neglect of his mother, and the abuse of his stepfather, making the idea of being cuddled foreign to him. Later, as he and Mista start to get together, he seems to be getting help in moving past this.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Chapter 36 has him shooting a dark look at Olivia after she manages to get a reaction out of him by teasing him about Mista to the point of suddenly kissing him on the lips in front of Giorno. Not only is this right after he tells Olivia about his attraction to Mista, but Giorno has never given a dark look to anyone in Buccellati's team, not even Abbacchio despite the latter ouright having beef with him. This leads to him seemingly repeating Abbacchio's trick but on Olivia in the following chapter.
  • Trauma Button: Giorno is shown to still be afraid of the dark, even in the present day. He creates fireflies with Gold Experience in chapter 15 when he has trouble falling asleep. His fear of the dark comes into full force when Fegato uses "The Sound of Silence" on all of Air Supplena Island, causing everyone but Fegato to see total darkness.

    Bruno Buccellati

Bruno Buccellati (Stand: Sticky Fingers)

For tropes applying to Bruno originally, see here.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He appears in the very first chapter, which is before Golden Wind's plot begins.
  • Adaptation Deviation: In chapter 38, during his talk with Trish, he informs her about the small house he owns and that Trish and Olivia can live in there once everything is over. This is something he originally mentioned near the climax to Doppio, thinking he was Trish, and as such, she never got word of this.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Bruno has reservations about having to attack women, and the one time he does during the brief fight against Peaches in chapter 37, he tells her "I'm sorry to do this to you." before he sends her flying into a tree.
  • Big Good: His status as one is further explored, as even Olivia knows about him by the time they meet.
  • Characterization Marches On: A bit more of his personality before meeting Giorno is seen, given how he appears at the start of the story.
  • For Your Own Good: Played for Drama, this is his reason for keeping Olivia in the dark about the true story around the Zeppeli family's involvement with the Natale Gang, and why he didn't tell her about her father still being alive sooner. Olivia isn't exactly happy about this when she learns this of him in chapter 37. The sad part is that Bruno doesn't know that her father is actually looking for her too.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Original to this story, he momentarily has a case of this after Giorno spares him.
Buccellati: Have I become so jaded as a gangster that I was willing to take advantage of an innocent bystander just so I could win a fight? That's not me at all… I feel dirty just thinking about it now. I even tortured this 15-year-old boy…
  • Spell My Name With An S: This story goes with calling his surname Buccellati, which is the translation of his name that is the official spelling for his namesake.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: When Olivia's resentment of him reaches a high point before and after the Misfits arc, he catches on that something's wrong when Olivia retracts her First-Name Basis. Ironically though, Abbacchio doesn't pick up on it given how he sees it as Olivia finally showing Buccellati some respect given his earlier annoyance with her First-Name Basis in chapter 4.

    Guido Mista

Guido Mista (Stand: Sex Pistols)

For tropes applying to Mista originally, see here.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He and the rest of the team first appear in Chapter 3.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Is shown to be bisexual and becomes an Official Couple with Giorno.
  • Adaptation Deviation: A minor one, but Due to Olivia being the one who falls into Pesci's trap and also Mista going on to fight Spumoni, he avoids his brutal Disney Death at Prosciutto's hands and is instead incapacitated after being overpowered by Spumoni. His Stand is still able to assist Olivia and Buccellati, though.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Even though they're already friends with benefits, there are a few moments like in chapter 4 where Sex Pistols seems to eye Olivia, which she doesn't mind. She also lampshades the volume it speaks, considering what a Stand is on top of how Sex Pistols can speak. He also later tries flirting with Trish.
  • Friends with Benefits: With Olivia, seemingly until he gets with Giorno in chapter 32, as he still makes a joke referencing his relationship with Olivia in the following chapter, and becomes aware of Olivia having seen them kiss in chapter 36. Even then, not only is he still trying to figure things out with Giorno, Olivia is interested in Trish by this point as well.

    Leone Abbacchio

Leone Abbacchio (Stand: Moody Blues)

For tropes applying to Abbacchio originally, see here.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He and the rest of the team first appear in chapter 3, and he brings out Moody Blues in chapter 4, which is ahead of its appearance during the fight with Soft Machine.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Twice so far. He gets to use Moody Blues to help with the mission in chapter 4, and he uses it again to fight against Chorogi in chapter 29.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Seems to be on the way to this after he drew an Ace of Spades from Vongolo's deck in chapter 39, which is revealed to be part of his Drawn in the following chapter.
  • Call-Forward: His death is alluded to before it even happens when Vongolo offers the group to take a card from his deck, and when Abbacchio does, he gets an Ace of Spades, which Vongolo says means death.
  • Dramatic Dislocation: After Olivia's shoulder gets dislocated from her fight with Pepe, he's the one help pop it back into place. Naturally though, it hurts as he does it.

    Narancia Ghirga

Narancia Ghirga (Stand: Aerosmith)

For tropes applying to Narancia originally, see here.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He and the rest of the team first appear in Chapter 3.
  • Adaptation Expansion: During his talk with Olivia in chapter 16, he recalls the events of his backstory, and he's shown to recently come to believe that how his mother got the eye infection that killed her (which he later got after his own beating) was from his father beating her around that area. This also includes a brief flashback showing a bit of it.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: He of all people delivers one to Fugo in chapter 36 when he tries to convince Narancia to leave with him, having second thoughts about Buccellati and protecting Trish considering they're up against Passione itself and they barely know Trish.
Narancia: ...Was it "logical" when you took me off from the streets and then you brought me to Buccellati? That day was the first time we've met, but you helped me.
  • Innocently Insensitive: During a rapidfire spew of lies caused by Talking Head in attempt to stop Giorno from getting on the boat, he calls Olivia, a transgirl, a boy. It's played for laughs, but him still not knowing of Olivia being transgender by this point adds to the humor.
  • Mythology Gag: Narancia is shown to be familiar with video games in chapter 14 when he catches on to Olivia's reference after checking Sale's ID. This trait is taken from the light novel Golden Heart, Golden Ring.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: A flashback has him saying this to Fugo after Narancia sees him contemplating killing himself with one of Purple Haze's capsules, also expressing how he and Bruno wouldn't want to see Fugo gone (which is Tempting Fate when you remember Narancia's original fate).
Narancia: Don't ever do anything like that again! We've hardly known each other, but I know you're kinder and stronger than this!

    Pannacotta Fugo

Pannacotta Fugo (Stand: Purple Haze)

For tropes applying to Fugo originally, see here.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Him staying with the group after The Mystery of King Crimson is one big case of this. He also finally gets to use Purple Haze again in an original fight against Fegato for the Misfits arc.
  • Accidental Pervert: During the fight with Illuso, his ruse with Olivia to make it look like they're fighting amongst themselves falls apart when Olivia feels something poking her during the part of the ruse when she's faking strangling him, Which is apparently something he secretly likes.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He and the rest of the team first appear in Chapter 3.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Several elements from Purple Haze Feedback are implemented into the story with some unique spins on them, namely about how Fugo had a grandmother who treated him nicely.
    • Chapter 39 reveals that with remaining blood from the snake made during the fight against Illuso, Fugo also became immune to Purple Haze's virus on Giorno's suggestion. Giorno's reason is essentially an invoked Chekhov's Gun.
  • Butt-Monkey: Ends up being on the receiving end of this at times, courtesy of Olivia.
  • Broken Pedestal: During his fight with Fegato, Fegato reveals that the coven knows the reason Fugo struck his professor in this story. It's because Fugo caught him alone taking drugs given to him by Passione, causing him to feel hurt since he looked up to him. The professor would threaten him not to tell anyone or else he would make Fugo's university life hell, which is what drove Fugo to attack his professor in this iteration of the story.
  • Call-Back: A humorous one happens during the brief flashback showing how he also became immune to Purple Haze's virus, as he thrashes around the same way Giorno did.
  • Driven to Suicide: An averted example, but a flashback in chapter 39 reveals that after he attacked his father in his anger at Fugo's grandmother's funeral, on top of not getting to see her before her death, he heavily contemplates using one of Purple Haze's capsules on himself until Narancia talks him out of it, slapping away the capsule in the process.
  • Heroic Second Wind: His resolve boost after being subjected to Misfits' possession comes from Olivia Taking the Bullet from a blow from Misfits, which made Fugo realize she still cared for him despite everything that happened up to that point. He gets another that ultimately allows him to defeat Fegato.
  • I Owe You My Life: How he felt towards Narancia after he talked him out of killing himself.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In this story, while his reason for striking his professor is (seemingly) left unknown like in the manga, two of the rumors that spread via gossip allude to what pushed him to strike his professor in both Purple Haze Feedbacknote  and the anime'snote  versions of his backstory. Nobody bothered to ask Fugo why despite the rumors though.
    • He is shown to carry Mint Leaves with him for whenever he is stressed or scared. This is taken from the Golden Heart, Golden Ring light novel.
  • Not His Sled: He changes his mind and joins Narancia in swimming after the boat at the end of this story's version of The Mystery of King Crimson.
  • Replacement Sibling: Played with, but more of his backstory in chapter 39 reveals that his parents had another child after they disowned him. Fugo immediately wondered if he's being replaced, but his father claims that they were trying to have another for years and the child happened to be born long after the fact.
  • Ship Tease: Gets one with Olivia following Fegato's defeat and death after she compliments him, despite being mad that Olivia turned out to have not been very injured from Misfits' attack.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: In addition to how his bond with Olivia changed over the course of the story and feeling that in her last touch, her still calling him Panna even as she made what she thought would be her last words to him are strongly implied to be a big catalyst for following Buccellati to the boat alongside Narancia.

    Trish Una

Trish Una (Stand: Spice Girl)

For tropes applying to Trish originally, see here.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Has more interactions with the group prior to The Mystery of King Crimson, with most of these thanks to Olivia.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Has a cameo at the end of Chapter 9, ahead of her appearance after the Kraft Work arc.
  • Smooch of Victory: After talking with the group and mentioning where her mother met The Boss, she gives one to Buccellati as a way of thanking him for saving her. It helps that she had an earlier Ship Tease with him during the Guns N' Roses fight.

Passione

    Diavolo

Diavolo (Stand: King Crimson)

For tropes applying to him originally, see here.

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Unlike the original work, he's shown to be furious upon learning that Polpo had died and the arrow he had could not be retrieved. Thanks to his paranoia, he even believes someone caused his death.
Diavolo: I want the one who killed him! The perpetrator must be punished!
Zabaione: Sir, you really think it's murder?
Diavolo: Of course it is! I just called Polpo early this morning to give him an important job! If he was feeling suicidal, he wouldn't eagerly accept it! Someone targeted him for a reason, I don't know what that is, but I will find out!
  • Evil Gloating: During his fight with Olivia when he's properly introduced, he tells Olivia about how he was the one who ordered everyone in the Zeppeli family executed during the Natale Wedding Massacre, and how she'd be the first Zeppeli to have personally killed.
  • Misplaced Retribution: A minor one, but he incorrectly thinks that Buccellati's team was also responsible for Burro's death because of how close the times of his and Polpo's deaths were.
  • Smug Snake: Makes a cruel remark after delivering a seemingly fatal wound to Olivia during her encounter with him:
Diavolo: Despite your betrayal... I forgive you, Olivia Zeppeli, and it's because I never really trusted you at all.
  • Straw Misogynist: Zig-zagged, since he had no problem recruiting Olivia into Passione despite being a member of the Zeppeli Family, but he believes that she doesn't pose a real threat because she's a woman and plans to use her to control Dieci, who is actually her father.

Giorno's Hero / Mr. Tony Dieci (SPOILERS

Tony Dieci, AKA Tony Zeppeli

The mobster who gets saved by Giorno when he was a child, and also Olivia's father. He goes by a different name by the time of the story.

For tropes applying to him originally, see here.

  • Ascended Extra: Giorno's Hero never appeared again after Giorno's flashback in Golden Wind. Here, he's shown to still be around, Named by the Adaptation and given a far bigger role. He is adapted to be an illegitimate son of one of Caesar's siblings, and is also Olivia's father.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Chapter 25's ending scene reveals that he knew Bruno's parents. While their exact ties aren't known as of now, this also explains why he let Bruno join the gang despite wanting to keep Giorno out of the mafia business, as lampshaded by Donato.
  • Composite Character: A minor example, but he's also shown to be the member of Passione that Bruno would relentlessly request to join the gang.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First appeared in Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain's flashback chapter of the wedding massacre.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Chapter 5 reveals that he is Olivia's long lost father, and his real name is Tony Zeppeli.
  • Not So Stoic: His cold demeanor cracks for a bit leading up to his reveal as Olivia's father. First he's shocked to see the half of Olivia's photo, in which it's revealed he has the other half. By the end of the chapter, his shoulders are shaking after completing the photo.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Since nothing was known about him as a person in canon, here he's adapated to also be a descendant of Caesar's siblings given he's also Olivia's father.
  • Wham Line: Invoked, as Donato recalling Olivia's name shocks him even further after he was shocked by spotting the half of the family photo Olivia had.

    Donato

Donato

Mr. Dieci's subordinate. He's usually always seen with him.

    Burro

Burro (Stand: Mellow Yellow)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Jamieson Price

A Capo and the leader of Passione's drug team, who helped The Boss of Passione overthrow the Natale gang as well, allowing him to rise above the ranks. He was once partners with Polpo, but they later split off. His Stand is named after a song by Donovan.

Mellow Yellow has growth-like bulbs on its body, which can be thrown and release a highly acidic substance that can melt flesh and even steel. It also has a banana-like scent. It also has this same acid in its hand, and can use it to inject it into people's bloodstreams, which causes a heavy acid trip that also kills the victim without them knowing. The bulbs can be made into drugs, which was how Burro's drug trade was so successful.
  • Ascended Extra: He's one of the gangsters seen in the anime discussing Polpo's death, also making him Named by the Adaptation.
  • Asshole Victim: Even though he already had his death coming for everything he did up to that point, his death is also this in-universe, as not even The Hitman Team liked him and they ignore the order to track down his killer.
  • Bad Boss: Big time. First, he stabs one of his men in the hand with a knife just for nearly blurting Polpo's treasure. He also tends to hit his own men over minor inconveniences. The ugliest example is that he's more annoyed than sad over one of his men dying to a reflected projectile from his Stand. Said projectile was acidic, so the guy died a Cruel and Unusual Death and Burro barely batted an eye.
  • Dirty Coward: Despite being a huge taunting sadist, he tries to use the two girls his men kidnapped as a shield the moment he's in danger. Once Hitomi begins to turn the tables on him, he then tries to run away. Hitomi's Pre-Mortem One-Liner pretty much lampshades it.
Hitomi: How fitting. You're yellow like your Stand.
  • Edible Theme Naming: His name is Italian for "Butter".
  • Fat Bastard: Is a sleazy, overweight man.
  • Filth: It's only mentioned once, but he also runs a pornography business. The objects in the filming room of his drug den and what he planned to use the two children he kidnapped for suggest that it isn't ethical at all.
  • Hate Sink: Has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. First, he cruelly murdered Vincent Bongiovi and Hitomi's father in Hitomi's Troubled Backstory Flashback in the previous story. At the start of this one, he forced Olivia out of a job. On top of his Bad Boss tendencies, he stoops even lower by how he kidnapped two children of Japanese tourists and what he tried to use them for. It's little wonder Polpo eventually parted ways with him.
    • Even his posthumous cameo during Risotto's flashback of how he met Pomodora did not shy away from this, as he was the one who extorted the surviving Natale family and then had them executed when they had nothing left to give.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: He faces no comeuppance for his actions in the flashback chapter of Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain he appeared in. Here he gets his just desserts, but not before more of his cruelty is shown, which pretty much makes his death all the more cathartic.
  • Near-Villain Victory: He almost kills Hitomi with an overdose of his Stand's fluids. It's only thanks to her increased healing factor from Ace of Cups that she's able to survive and finish him off.
  • Sadist: Absolutely relishes in the suffering of his victims.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Apparently, other gangsters of Passione also despised him, but couldn't openly talk about that since he has close ties to The Boss.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Even though he got his chest slashed by Hitomi during her Roaring Rampage of Revenge, he's able to get back up later to properly fight her.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He is revealed to have kidnapped two children from their Japanese tourist parents for his other business. It's a really good thing Hitomi was hiding in the room before anything could happen to them.
  • You Killed My Father: He was the other main reason Hitomi came back to Italy despite what happened during her last visit, as he's the murderer of Hitomi's father.

    Pepe

Pepe (Stand: Modest Mouse)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Edward Bosco

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_pepe.png
"If I get that money, I might become a capo myself, a capo. You must've known where Polpo's treasure is, right? Is that why you and Guido Mista came alone on this island, this island?"
Burro's loyal underling, who also goes after Polpo's treasure on Burro's orders, making him an additional enemy that Olivia fights while Mista fights Sale. His Stand is named after a rock band of the same name.

Modest Mouse mainly can reduce the weight of anything it touches, causing them to levitate. Pepe can also use this ability on himself. While its tail is pointed upwards, anything that it has touched will float in the air until the tail moves downward, where the affected items and people will regain their original weight and plummet to the ground.
  • Edible Theme Naming: His name is also Italian for "Pepper".
  • Gravity Master: What Modest Mouse allows him to do, manipulating the weight of both him and objects.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: His uproarious reaction to learning Burro has died and immediately aspiring to take over his drug trade can also be interpreted as this.
  • Only in It for the Money: His entrance as he faces Olivia has him mentioning he could use the money from Polpo's treasure to become a Capo himself, desiring becoming rich and powerful.
  • Verbal Tic: Has a tendency to repeat certain words thanks to having palilalia.
  • The Starscream: It's revealed that he never really cared about Burro, as the second he hangs up from the phone call that informs him he's dead, he bursts into laughter, proclaiming wanting to take over his drug trade on top of becoming a Capo.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Has no qualms trying to kill Olivia for being in his way.

    Little Sister Bianca (Spoilers)
See "Farfalle" under Missione Boschetto

The Elite Guard

    Zabaione

Zabaione (Stand: Unknown)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_zabaione.png
"You gotta be a little crazy yourself when you're working closely with The Boss."
Tiziano's older sister and The Boss's bodyguard. She's blind, but despite that can get by just fine on her own and is a member of the Elite Guard.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Named after a Zabaione (or also spelled zabaglione), an Italian dessert made with egg yolks, sugar, and a sweet wine.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Her first scene has her swiftly disposing of a fly with just a thread needle. This also doubles as a Call-Back to N'Doul's introduction.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She loves her little brother and was planning to cook for Tiziano the day he and Squalo fight Buccellati's team. She is very distraught to find Tiziano's dead body and bitterly swears vengeance on Team Buccellati.
  • Handicapped Badass: Is blind, but is shown to still be able to fend for herself.

    Bombalone

Bombalone (Stand: Angel Dust)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Robbie Daymond

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_bombalone_0.png
"I came from a long family of assassins and you all came from poor, broken homes. The thought of dirt-poor and uncivilized thugs gaining high status in the organization... makes me want to vomit."
A skilled assassin and a member of the Elite Guard. He helped Pericolo escort Trish and was formerly part of the Hitman Team until The Boss offered him to join the elite guard because of how his Stand is a valuable espionage tool. It is named after an album by Faith No More.

Angel Dust takes the appearance of an Egret, and it helps Bombalone slip out of people's field of vision, including their consciousness and memories while still interacting with his target. He can also use this on objects like bombs to make traps out of them. Its only weakness is that its power is nullified if someone touches his Stand.
  • Achilles' Heel: Touching his Stand is what removes its ability from a target. Risotto is able to use this to his advantage when his blood gets on it, allowing him to manifest Metallica on it.
  • Blind Obedience: Similar to Vanilla Ice, he's a blind loyalist to The Boss.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after a "Bombolone", an Italian filled doughnut.
  • Having a Blast: True to a few letters in his name, he is skilled with setting traps with bombs thanks to his Stand.
  • Off with His Head!: How Risotto finishes him off courtesy of Metallica's abilites.
  • The Mole: He was this to the Hitman Team since he used to be part of them, as not only he left them for The Boss' Elite guard, but he was the one who snitched on Sorbet and Gelato, leading to their deaths.
  • The Unfought: Unlike the rest of the Passione members the heroes fight along the way (not counting Burro), Risotto and Vino fight him rather than Team Buccellati.

La Squadra di Esecuzioni / The Hitman Team

    In General
While they still play the same role they did originally, not only do some of them get further characterization, nearly every fight with them differs to an extent thanks to their partnership with Missione Boschetto.

For tropes applying to them originally, see here. The folders contain significant tropes original to this story.

  • Adaptation Expansion: A lot of the members get additional characterization, such as expanded backstories.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First appeared all the way back in Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain during an absurd Cutaway Gag.
  • Evil Versus Evil: The moment they find out Formaggio was attacked by Gamberi's Drawn, the rest of Risotto's men begin to distrust the Witches. It gets to the point where Prosciutto tries to throw Spumoni off the train, and Melone not caring about going against their agreement to capture Giorno alive despite Chorogi freaking out about a seemingly dead Giorno. He's about to have her killed too until Giorno gets back up. This seems to culminate in Risotto's attempted killing of Pomodora.

    Formaggio

Formaggio (Stand: Little Feet)

    Illuso

Illuso (Stand: Man in The Mirror)

  • Break Them by Talking: After trapping them in the mirror world, he proceeds to do this with Olivia, as the last of his intel on her happens to be a traumatic memory Olivia had repressed until that very moment.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: While this doesn't happen, it's played with, as chapter 40 mentions that Vino and Setteveli's original orders were to kill Illuso before the arrival of Giorno's group in Pompei.
  • Straw Misogynist: He seems to have a distaste for Olivia being part of the gang, as when she and Fugo seem to be fighting amongst themselves, he hopes Olivia goes down from the fight. Then there's his mockery of Olivia standing her ground in the mirror world despite the situation:
Illuso: How cute. A little GIRL thinks she could beat a grown adult.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He seemed to relish hurting Olivia after trapping her and Fugo in the mirror world. He also seemed disappointed with the fact he had to kill her because he wanted to have "a good time" with her.

    Prosciutto

Prosciutto (Stand: The Grateful Dead)

  • Abusive Parents: He was looked after by his grandparents, but on top of abuse he faced while in an orphanage, his grandmother would beat him regularly after his grandfather died in a car accident. She blamed Prosciutto for his death, and this would lead to him developing his harsh and violent personality.
  • Adaptation Expansion: His background is expanded on to show his earlier life and that he was one of several gangsters in Passione who formerly worked for the Natale gang before it fell.
    • Following a near-fatal betrayal from the Natale gang to where his body was dumped into the sea after, he met Pesci, who happened to fish him out, saving Prosciutto's life. The month he spent recovering at Pesci's place is how the latter learned of the former's background as a gangster.
  • Berserk Button: Loathes anyone tied to the Zeppelis after his experiences in the Natale gang, saying they're the one thing he hates more than The Boss and Pomodora, especially since he ultimately got betrayed by the Zeppeli that was his superior. It's to the point where he's really mad that Olivia got away from them after Prosciutto managed to incapacitate her.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: He was this to the Natale gang before he joined Passione, using private missions to dispose of his former partners, which Don Natale and one of Fredo's sons helped keep a secret. He would then help cause the fall of the Natale gang once Passione offered him a position (especially after he got betrayed by the Natale gang after the job in which he betrayed the people he was working with). With Spumoni having witnessed one instance of it when she was a drug mule, she uses this in attempt to get Pesci to betray him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He is revealed to have been involved with the use of kidnapping children, including a young Spumoni to use as drug mules. He would then leave them all to die once he betrayed who he was working with for messing up the job.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Is the one to give a tougher variation of this to Pesci during the part of their backstory when Pesci considered leaving the team after Sorbet and Gelato's deaths.

    Pesci

Pesci (Stand: Beach Boy)

  • Adaptation Deviation: Has a few thanks to his fight heavily differing from the original.
    • Because Olivia ends up taking his bait on the air conditioning, he fights her instead of Mista at the start. Similar to how Mista avoids getting shot in the head, he doesn't lose one of his fingers as a result of this (though his right ear is nearly torn off instead as noted below).
    • His breakdown upon realizing Prosciutto's perceived death goes on long enough for Bruno to get Beach Boy's hook out of him and go after Spumoni. However, as a result, Olivia is the one who has to run away and then split herself up to avoid getting killed by him.
  • Adaptation Expansion: His bond with Prosciutto is expanded on, detailing how he lived alone with his single mother and how he and Prosciutto met (including how his mother's Last Request to Prosciutto before her passing was to teach Pesci how to grow up to be a man). Later, he considered leaving the Hitman Team around a month after Sorbet and Gelato's death. In addition to being scared for his life by it, he also felt like he embarassed Prosciutto, as everyone but him didn't seem to see potential in Pesci.
  • Ear Ache: Gets his right ear nearly torn off by a puzzle piece from Olivia's Stand.

    Melone

Melone (Stand: Baby Face)

  • Adaptational Sexuality: Is bisexual and is revealed to have an intimate bond with Ghiaccio.
  • Adaptational Species Change: He is also a Witch, as he was born with the lampad, but he never crossed paths with Pomodora and never joined Missione Boschetto.
  • Adaptational Sympathy: Aside from his bond with the rest of the Hitman Team, he was pretty loathsome sexual predator in the source material. Here, it turns out he's the way he is because of a royally screwed up upbringing, with his predatory behavior a result of him being the victim of incestuous rape at the hands of his own mother and her friends.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • He is said to have had a sister who got kidnapped. It's revealed in a flashback that it was Limona, and Ghiaccio never makes the connection despite being right there with her in the White Album arc.
    • His predatory perception of women has an origin, and it's because his mother tried to "exploit" his status as a Witch.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: He and Limona came from an aristocratic family, who pampered them once they realized they were Witches. However, once Limona was kidnapped, their family isolated Melone from everyone else, keeping Melone locked in a cell in their basement, which he could never leave and had to learn how to read and study on his own. It gets worse, as once Melone was a teenager, his mother would seduce him against his will, and would then get her friends to do the same on the notion that they could have Witch babies. Ghiaccio would be the only one to know this much of his background, as he discovered this the same night he met him.
  • Freudian Excuse: His rather predatory view of women originates from his mother and her friends forcing themselves onto him in order to breed more Witches.
  • Mythology Gag: His hair colors from both the manga and anime are implemented, with blond being his original hair color before dyeing it light purple.
  • Rescue Romance: Considering how they first met, his relationship with Ghiaccio could be described as this.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Ghiaccio in addition to their private relationship.

    Ghiaccio

Ghiaccio (Stand: White Album)

  • Adaptational Sexuality: Is bisexual and is revealed to have an intimate bond with Melone.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Is revealed to have had his Stand before joining Passione, and he had been in a different assassin team in Venice before joining Passione.
  • Berserk Button: Does not like having his past asked about.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: It's minor, but his body stays on the post he was impaled on, with Olivia removing it later to hide his body from the public eye.
  • Dramatic Irony: He never realizes Limona is Melone's long lost sister during the fight where they are both present.
  • Enemy Mine: Forms a temporary truce with Giorno, Mista, and Olivia when Limona goes One-Winged Angel with Blondie's power.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The night he met Melone, he was supposed to kill him as per the hit ordered to him from a politician. After seeing what his mother and her friends were doing to him, he couldn't bring himself to kill him and instead helped him escape and killed people at the party he infiltrated, including Melone's parents. He later learned the politician was the same person as Melone's father.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Is so angry and distraught over the death of Melone that a police officer asking him to move his car for holding up traffic is enough for him to violently kill him and other nearby officers.
  • Rescue Romance: Considering how they first met, his relationship with Melone could be described as this.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Melone in addition to their private relationship.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Partially Played for Laughs and to break the tension, a verbal version of this happens after Melone tells him his past. It's fully justified considering what exactly happened to Melone, and hearing the story tells Ghiaccio that the night he met him was not the first time Melone was "exploited".

    Risotto Nero

Risotto Nero (Stand: Metallica)

  • A Day in the Limelight: Gets an original fight against Bombalone, with Vino serving as Risotto's ally.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Of all the members of the Hitman Team, he's definetely got the most of this out of everyone. Only Ghiaccio and Melone's further characterization rivals his'.
    • How he got into the room to torture the computer engineer into having the Venice photo restored in the anime is shown.
    • His backstory that was only told through some text in the manga is implemented.
    • His past with Pomodora, in which he snuck her out from the soon-to-be-destroyed Natale mansion after discovering she was still alive, and looked after her for a while, and when he left her in his old village, he left her with Thin Lizzy, not knowing he would meet him again, let alone how he'd be part of Pomodora's coven.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Chapter 34 has him calling Pomodora "Dora". He still uses it even as he tries to kill her in the following chapter.
  • Age-Gap Romance: With Pomodora when she was a 13-year kid, though it's one-sided from her part and he doesn't exactly like their relationship.
  • False Innocence Trick: While recovering from his fight with Bombalone, Risotto lured Pomodora into a false sense of security by having sex with her, knowing that she still has feelings for him. It turns out he was trying to get her guard down so he can get her to reveal her real plans and kill her for allowing her coven to betray his teammates.
  • Hitman with a Heart: In his early years working in the criminal underworld, he disliked children being killed by gangsters. This is the reason why he secretly spared and rescued a teenaged Pomodora after the rest of her family was gunned down.
  • Inevitable Mutual Betrayal: Even though he and the rest of the Hitman Team joined forces with Missione Boschetto, Risotto was already suspicious of Pomodora because she's a Witch. From Pomodora's side, she intended her subordinates to betray and kill Risotto's men for unknown reasons.

Missione Boschetto

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_mb_compress.png

Missione Boschetto is a group of people composed entirely of Witches, a species of humans who are born with a unique black organ called a "Lampad", which is the source of their life and powers. This allows them to awaken a power unique to them; A Drawn.

Similar to a Stand, it is a representation of the Witch's power. They function similarly to Stands, but the most notable differences are that they are usually awakened through an initiation ritual when joining a coven, the Witch does not take damage if their Drawn is damaged, and they can be seen by normal people. Most of all, they have a Master-Servant relationship, a bond that if disrespected, can lead to the Drawn turning against and killing its Witch.

Led by Pomodora Natale, their main objective seems to also be overthrowing The Boss of Passione, and they team up with The Hitman Team over it. This makes them a group of secondary antagonists throughout each battle with the Hitman Team and beyond. They continue to persist past the first half of Golden Wind's plot thanks to their size in numbers.

  • All There in the Script: Anatra and Pollo, the coven's equivalent to Sorbet and Gelato in some way, are not seen, but chapter 14's closing notes says that their Stands are called "Shock the Monkey" and "Sledgehammer" respectively. Both are named after songs by Peter Gabriel. However, considering this was before the introduction of Drawns and the previous Red Herrings, it's likely they actually had Drawns instead.
  • Dysfunction Junction: A lot of the members have tragic pasts and/or deeply rooted psychological issues by the time they met Pomodora. As a result, some members don't exactly get along with another at times.
  • Evil Versus Evil: It turns out a lot of members of the coven want revenge, as they have had a bad experience with a member of The Hitman Team or someone else in Passione. As a result, once The Hitman Team (except Risotto) becomes aware of this, both groups end up fighting each other in some form during their arcs. Chapter 28 reveals that they are indeed just using the Hitman Team as a means to an end, and it's thanks to Setteveli that Risotto is unaware of this. Well, at least not until Chapter 35, which reveals he was already suspicious and comes close to killing Pomodora before being stopped by Thin Lizzy.
  • Foil: Unlike Team Buccellati and the Hitman Team, there is noticeably way less comradeship between the other members, which is something the other two teams both have despite their moments of bickering. Both teams from canon aren't happy to lose anyone, while if someone in the coven dies, there'll be at least one Witch that will Speak Ill of the Dead.
  • Our Witches Are Different: The biggest thing unique to these Witches is that their blood has magic capabilities, as shown by whenever their magical circle; The Wheel of Abraxas, is formed. This allows them to enter and leave areas, and also serve as a protective barrier from Stand or Drawn attacks as long as they stay within it. Some Witches also cannot awaken Drawns despite having the Lampad, as shown by Vino and Thin Lizzy, who are the only members by far to have Stands instead.
  • 13 Is Unlucky: They have 13 members in addition to how they're Witches.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: A villainous example.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: A lot of the members talk badly about Gamberi after his death. Considering he pulled a Leeroy Jenkins and attempted backstabbing the first member of the Hitman Team the coven is working with, it's strongly implied they're mainly mad at him for ruining their implied ulterior motive of using the Hitman Team. Limona's first reaction upon being informed about Spumoni's is to say she never liked her.

    Gamberi

Gamberi (Drawn: Scorpion)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Chris Patton

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_gamberi.png
"The paper swallows the rock... the rock crushes the scissors... and the scissors cut the paper. In other words... I'm the scissor and you're just the paper."
An arrogant, sadistic rookie of Missione Boschetto, and their newest member. He's the first Witch fought by the heroes. He appears during the Little Feet arc, attacking Olivia and Narancia alongside Formaggio. His Drawn is named after a band of the same name.

Scorpion allows anything it touches to become incredibly sharp. This even extends to Scorpion itself, making it near-invincible to most attacks. However, the one weakness to this is that this ability can only be maintained as long as Scorpion has its mask on.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after the Italian word for Shrimp.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: Olivia looks away when Scorpion's other hand smashes his skull.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The very first victim of this, too. Scorpion turns against Gamberi after Olivia manages to shatter its mask.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: His first action after learning Trish's location is to attempt to backstab Formaggio. Not only does this drag on enough for the car Narancia shot to explode, but this seems to have been the other plan of his coven, but Gamberi wasn't supposed to do it so early on. Even Formaggio thinks this is a bad move for a rookie like him.
  • Naïve Newcomer: A villainous example. He's an arrogant rookie of the coven.
  • Sadist: Gets a kick out of making his enemies suffer.
  • Your Head Asplode: How Scorpion kills him in addition to crushing his neck, which makes for a brutal introduction to how Drawns can kill their Witches.

    Vino

Vino Rosso (Stand: Guns N' Roses)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Lucien Dodge

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_vino.png
"Do you know where you and your friends are, Guido Mista? You're in the jungle, baby... You're gonna die."
Someone who lived in Mista's old neighborhood during their childhoods and the second Witch fought by the heroes. He attacks Buccellati, Mista and Narancia while the rest are fighting Illuso. Unlike the rest of the coven, he's a Stand user. Though, he can still use the other passive abilities Witches can.

His Stand, (also named after) Guns N' Roses, is similar to Mista's Sex Pistols, except only comprised of two tiny stands instead of six. They mainly have the ability to enhance and modify any gun Vino has, but its form is usually a musket. The bullets he can fire are powerful and long ranged, but he can only fire two at a time, and they have a cooldown of 20 seconds before he can fire again.

  • Ascended Extra: He's the same person Mista knew as a kid who got his eye scratched out. The end of his introductory arc reveals him as a Composite Character that also consists of the kid who had his drug dealing father shot dead by Giorno's hero in the anime.
  • Berserk Button: He doesn't take kindly to his late father being insulted.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Is a Witch, but has a Stand instead of a Drawn, but this means he doesn't have to worry about his ability turning against him. In fact, Fucile and Fiore make their loyalty to Vino clear by trying a new gun form on the spot, trying to pull him towards the circle Vino created to escape, and are even happy to see him alive when he awakens in his next appearance after his battle in the vineyard.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after the Italian word for Wine.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Mista, since they're both gunslingers in their respective teams and they both have Stands centered around guns. The Stands even consist of tiny Stands that can think and talk independently.
  • Eye Scream: He's the same person who Mista mentioned to have had his eye clawed out by a kitten from a litter of four, which makes this a given for him since he has an eyepatch and scars from it.
  • Freudian Excuse: The trauma Vino experienced from losing his parents and living on the streets for a year was a huge catalyst for him becoming bitter and hostile.
  • Foil:
    • He can be seen as one to Hol Horse, as while both are gunslingers in their respective groups in their stories, they are also opposites. Hol Horse was smooth and confident, and while cowardly, he had his pride, while Vino is impulsive and hotheaded, which meant he'd keep going in fight even if he recklessly gets himself hurt. Hol Horse also loved women, while Vino's has an admirer in the coven (Setteveli), he dislikes how they happen to be a creep. Lastly, both have opposite circumstances regarding their superiors: Hol Horse was afraid of Dio, who'd exploit this while threatening him. While Pomodora is caring to Vino, even if she had to confiscate his Witch token for failing his initial mission.
    • Interestingly, he's also one to Fubuki. Both are Ascended Extras of people that were mentioned by dialogue in their respective parts that were given some Adaptation Expansion to show their childhood times with the character from canon. One was even scared out of hanging out with the other after something they did, but the circumstances are different: Josuke healed Fubuki's broken leg, which was a good deed that Fubuki poorly responded to, while Vino attempted to shoot Mista's eye with a rusty nail, an act of malice that justifiably scared Mista out of ever hanging out with him again. Both OCs would later move away without saying goodbye to the other, but how the characters from canon feel about the other moving away are complete opposites as well. Josuke was emotionally shot because his only friend was shutting him away after desparate tries to reach out to him to the very end, and Mista was glad to see Vino gone after witnessing his violent nature, not missing him in the slightest. As a result, their history is reflected in how the canon characters feel about seeing them again in the present: Josuke is essentially happy to see Fubuki back (albeit with some emotional baggage to work out because of when they last saw each other), and Mista is not happy to see Vino, wishing the enemy was anyone but him.
  • Forced to Watch: Chapter 40 reveals that how his mother died was from being attacked by former customers of the late Mr. Rosso, who then decided to have their way with her before killing her, which Vino was forced to watch.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: When he was in Mista's neighborhood, he was jealous that Mista had a loving family who was still alive.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: His backstory adds some Adaptation Expansion, showing that as a kid, he tried to shoot at Mista's eye with a rusty nail using a rubber band. His encounter with the litter of four kittens happens a month after, making his eye getting scratched out look like karma.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: His Stand is made of two units named Fucile and Fiore. They argue constantly with each other, but still work together out of loyalty to Vino.
  • Left for Dead: After being beaten by Mista, he was left to die inside of a burning winery. Since neither Mista nor Narancia checked on him, everyone in Buccellati's Team assumed he perished.
  • Mercy Kill: Does this to Limona after her Drawn begins to kill her. Chapter 40 reveals that this was supposed to be his duty for any rogue Drawn attacks in general.
  • Parental Abandonment: Both of his parents are mentioned to be dead and that he was taken in by his grandparents after living in the streets for a year in the first flashback about him. Later, it's revealed that Vino's father was the drug dealing man who was shot dead by Giorno's Hero/Mr. Dieci in the anime, and his mother was assaulted and murdered by her late husband's customers.
  • Sweet Tooth: He seems to have one of these, as he was eating chocolates along with his lunch before he attacks the group in the hideout.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: He wears black pants in addition to his red jacket, and he's one of the antagonists alongside being an Evil Counterpart to Mista.
  • Red Is Violent: He wears a red jacket, and he's one of the more violent members of the coven given his bursts of anger and history of hostile behavior, which still shows in the present.
  • Revenge: Aside from his rivalry with Mista, he has an ultimate goal of getting revenge on the man who killed his father, just like a scene in the anime. The one responsible is Mr. Dieci...who happens to be Olivia's father.
  • Shout-Out: His Badass Boast during his introduction (which is his quote at the top of this folder) is taken right out of Guns N' Roses' hit song "Welcome to the Jungle". Also foreshadows his Stand's name, as it isn't revealed until the fight with him begins.
  • Something about a Rose: Fiore, the feminine half of Vino's Stand, can grow special bullets from roses. Vino also has roses on his jacket. And of course, his Stand is called Guns n' Roses.
  • Start of Darkness / Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: The definitive sign of his malicious violence as a kid was when he attempted to shoot a rusty nail at Mista's eye during what should have been a lighthearted game with paper staples and a rubber band. It missed and only cut a bit of Mista's face, but Mista figured it was no accident, and it was enough to scare Mista out of hanging out with him. Needless to say, he was glad to see him gone when he moved away two years later.
  • You Have Failed Me: A non-lethal example, but he had his Witch Token confiscated for failing his first mission despite having survived.

    Spumoni

Spumoni (Drawn: Lovefool)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Cassandra Lee Morris

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_spumoni.png
"I don't need to create a Wheel of Abraxas, my Drawn is already a perfect shield. Any attack directly aimed at me will be pushed to the side… No attack will ever hit me."

A cutesy but unhinged psychopathic girl that's the third Witch fought by the heroes. Appears during the Beach Boy and Grateful Dead arc, also clashing with Prosciutto and Pesci due to the former's suspicion of Witches. Her drawn is named after a song by The Cardigans.

Lovefool's appearance is a removable handle to Spumoni's parasol, which is actually a bubble wand. Her main ability is to blow bubbles and foam through it, which can trap people or act as obstacles. They can also "clean" someone, not only making the target so slippery, they can't move, but can also drain their stamina. The bubbles can only be countered by water. Spumoni can also use the slippery aspects of her bubbles to make her parasol double as a shield.

  • Bag of Holding: Her parasol seems to be able to double as this, as it's able to hide a body, which includes herself and an unconscious Giorno when she attempts to kidnap him.
  • Berserk Button: Hates having her parasol called an umbrella.
  • Cute and Psycho: Displays both cutesy and psychotic mannerisms on a dime.
  • Covered with Scars: She said she has these from her youth, but they're covered up by her makeup.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her shattered psyche stems from being kidnapped as a child and forced to serve as a drug mule. A young Prosciutto was heavily involved with this, so by the time she meets him again, she wants revenge on him.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after a form of molded Gelato.
  • Establishing Character Moment: After being thrown off by a suspicious Prosciutto, she manages to re-enter the train with her parasol, and with the help of a random child who spotted her outside of his and his grandfather's cabin. She sweetly thanks him...only to kill the child on the spot with her parasol. This tells the reader her manipulative traits.
  • Exact Words: When Prosciutto is going to throw her off, one of her pleas against it is that she claims she won't betray the Hitman team like Gamberi. Later, once she decides to make a run for it with the turtle and knocks out Pesci (after manipulating him to attack Prosciutto), she recalls this and clarifies that she won't betray them as in the same way Gamberi did, and will instead betray them in her own way.
Spumoni: I told you, I'm not gonna betray you like Gamberi! If you kill me, then you'll never know where Buccellati's team is hiding!
    (...)
Spumoni: When I said I wasn't going to betray you like Gamberi...I meant to say... I'm going to betray you in my OWN style.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: The second Witch to die to her own drawn.
  • Laughing Mad: Breaks down into one of these two times. One when Prosciutto remembers who she is, and another during her final confrontation with Olivia.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Using her charms and her Drawn, she attempts to get Pesci to betray The Hitman Team. Especially when it comes to using Prosciutto's past against him.
  • Not Enough to Bury: Thanks to being absorbed by her own Drawn's bubbles, all that's left of her is just her hat and smaller bubbles.
  • Nothing Nice About Sugar and Spice: She's a complete psycho with a taste for violence beneath her charms and colorful appearance.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Flees after she's defeated by Olivia. Thanks to leaving her Witch token behind though, she doesn't get very far and dies for it.
  • Tempting Fate: She exclaims that she's not afraid to die when Olivia confronts her. Flash forward to her own Drawn killing her, and she becomes scared as she realizes she left her Witch token behind. Cue her Drawn beginning to kill her as she tries to fruitlessly break out of her bubble.

    Chorogi

Chorogi (Drawn: Dreamboat Annie)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Amber Lee Connors

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_chorogi.png
"I serve Miss Pomodora because I want to see her dream become a reality. And If I want to show my respect to her, then I want you to mind your own business."

A timid, softspoken girl and the fourth Witch encountered by the heroes. She appears during the time of the Baby Face arc, attacking the rest of Team Buccellati while Giorno fights Baby Face. While she does end up also fighting Giorno for a bit, the one who directly fights her is Abbacchio. Her Drawn is named after a song by Heart.

Dreamboat Annie's ability mainly has the ability to trap people who are distracted enough in their own daydreams, as long as they stay within a mist it emits. The only way they can snap out of it are from loud noises. Dreamboat Annie also can use its anchor as a weapon.

  • Abusive Parents: Her adoptive parents turned cruelly abusive when she turned ten, forcing her to be their personal servant after they had a biological child, in which made Chorogi The Unfavorite.
  • A Fate Worse Than Death: She is the first member of Missione Boschetto to not die to her own Drawn. Instead, she chooses what may as well be death instead of betraying the coven in any way by running deep into the room that leads to a black void inside Coco Jumbo. Despite her situation, she seems at peace with her decision. She's still the only Witch to have this trope apply to her.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Named after a Pickled Chinese artichoke.
  • Failed a Spot Check: After things begin to go south, she tries to hastily kill the other members of Team Buccellati, failing to realize Abbacchio, who was already awoken from his daydream by a passing truck, had swapped places with his Stand, and she ignored how he felt heavier than earlier.
  • Glass Cannon: As dangerous its ability is, Dreamboat Annie's durability isn't that great, as once Abbacchio gains the upper hand, he easily damages it in one blow to the ground, and destroys it in the next.
  • I Owe You My Life: After being nearly assaulted by a gangster who supposedly wanted her as a maid and bought her off her adopted family, she is saved by Pomodora and Thin Lizzy. She has been extremely loyal to Pomodora ever since.
  • Not So Above It All: When following an order, she can become serious and focused until something goes wrong, as she begins to freak out when she thinks Baby Face had killed Giorno when Missione Boschetto wants to capture him alive.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her biological parents essentially abandoned her due to being born during China's one-child policy being in effect, where sons were more favored.
  • Token Minority: Unlike the rest of the group (aside from Thin Lizzy), she's Chinese and the only Asian member of Missione Boschetto.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: Similar to Death 13, she can trap people within daydreams if they're distracted. Her last-ditch effort to kill Abbacchio is even more reminiscent of it, as not only does she trap the target in her own dream world, she can inhibit anyone in it. However, this makes her a sitting duck in the real world, and her lack of experience fighting Stand users is what gets her defeated since Abbacchio could still control his Stand in the real world.

    Limona

Limona (Drawn: Blondie)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Megan Hollingshead

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_limona.png
"Well, well, well, I was wondering who's been tripping and trapping across my bridge."
The fifth Witch fought, and one of the most violent and deranged members of Missione Boschetto. Giorno, Mista, and Olivia fight her while also dealing with Ghiaccio during the time of the White Album arc. Her drawn is named after A rock band of the same name.

Blondie is attached to the back of Limona's head, and takes the form of a Japanese Hannya mask. It allows Limona to manipulate her hair to grab onto things, or transform into weapons. While she can make it as durable as iron, it's weak to elements like fire.
  • Abusive Parents: Her adoptive mother was extremely superstitious of Witches out of religion, and would beat her in the name of purification.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: A non-verbal version. As she chokes to death on her own Drawn's abilities, she starts trying to reach out to the other three, unaware of her presence, hoping they'd see or hear her despite still being hellbent on killing them seconds ago.
  • Ax-Crazy: One of the most aggressive and vicious members of Missione Boschetto. She attacks relentlessly once her target's in range.
  • Baby Be Mine: Was a victim of this at age 5. The family she was taken from was the same one as Melone's.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after the Italian word for Lemon.
  • Hell Is That Noise: Her Drawn's mask is capable of letting out a loud, unnatural scream. When this happens, it signals her hair power is about to shift to an extremely powerful level.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: The third witch to die from her own Drawn. Due to Vino being in the area on separate orders, she does get put out of her misery, at least.
  • Matricide: Killed her adoptive mother the night she awakened her Drawn.
  • Mercy Kill: Ends up on the receiving end of this by Vino once her Drawn goes rogue.
  • One-Winged Angel: A rare non-final battle example of this. When this happens in the story, her hair grows to an astronomical length, even filling up the lagoon. She also resides within a spherical barrier of hair that's all part of a giant, humanoid hair figure with hair tentacles going about. By that point, she is dead set on killing Giorno and Olivia to the point where fish in the lagoon also get killed as she looks for them. It takes a temporary truce between Ghiaccio and the other three to finally bring her down.
  • Prehensile Hair: Similar to Love Deluxe, she can control her hair with Blondie to extend and grab things. Unlike Love Deluxe though, she can solidify it, but she also loses control of any hair that is severed from her.
  • Sadist: Possibly even more than Gamberi, as she goes to extreme measures to get the satisfaction out of making her enemy suffer as much as possible.
  • Shout-Out: Let's see, is extremely violent and sadistic, killed her abusive (adoptive) mother, went to a (juvenile) prison, killed every guard in her way the night she broke out with her new powers, and her main form of weapons formed by her hair are knives...sounds like a certain version of a certain symbiote provided some inspiration here and there (even if some of these are simply coincidence).
    • Two things that further help this are how a truce with an existing villain ends up being what's needed to stop her, and Olivia's reaction upon seeing her for the first time:
Olivia: OH, SHIT!! That's a Witch! A hairy Witch!
  • The Only One Allowed To Kill You: Was obsessed with Chorogi so much out of jealousy, that when she's told about her death, she's actually upset about how she didn't get to kill her.
Limona: YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!! I was supposed to be the one to kill that bitch!!
  • The Power of Hate: What awakened her Drawn, the same night she subconsciously killed her adoptive mother.

    Fegato

Fegato (Drawn: Misfits)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_fegato.png
The sixth witch that is fought by the heroes, having managed to tail them in wait before properly striking while the group is on Air Supplena Island. His Drawn is named after a rock band of the same name.

Misfits has the ability to latch itself onto cowardly people who are weak-willed or show anxiety. Over time, it will gradually possess its victim, mimicing their voice to trick them into hearing their consciousness and exploiting their fears, along with black handprints appearing. This first drives the victim insane and allows for Fegato to manipulate them, but if it goes on long enough, the victim will begin vomitting blood and take on a corpse-like appearance that Fegato can control.

Misfits can also infect multiple people, but it takes on a swarm-like form to do this, and the "main body" stays on the target Fegato chooses. Misfits' "main body" can also take on another form if the target's fear is big enough.
  • Achilles' Heel: Fegato is the first to use a spell called "The Sound of Silence", which can plunge an area into complete darkness and silence that only the user can see and hear in. Similar to Angel Dust's weakness, someone can negate themselves from "The Sound of Silence" if they touch the user.
  • And I Must Scream: Has the power to invoke this with his Drawn, as despite being able to make People Puppets out of his Drawn, they seem to be aware of what's happening to them, and they can do nothing about it.
  • Asshole Victim / Pay Evil unto Evil: An inverted example with how chapter 39 revealed he was a serial killer who was going to make Setteveli his next victim, but Setteveli didn't care that Fegato is a killer.
  • Body Horror:
    • His Drawn also has this effect on people, giving them a zombie-like appearance, with extremely pale skin and a rancid smell. Lisa Lisa even mistakes Peaches under these effects for a zombie at first.
    • His backstory reveals that he was a victim of this himself courtesy of Setteveli, where he made Fegato tear off his fingernails and eat his own tongue. It's heavily implied that Radiohead made him unable to remember any of it aside from feeling violated and hollow after regaining consciousness.
  • Costume Evolution: His final design seems to be updated from how he originally appeared in the banner of the coven.
  • Demonic Possession: What Misfits basically inflicts on people.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after the Italian word for "Liver".
  • High Collar of Doom: Presumably to cover his lower face, his coat's collar zips all the way up to his nose.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How he has a possessed Peaches dispose of Herb. However, he ultimately dies this way after Fugo manages to destroy his Drawn and punch him into Fight Island's spike pit. Not only does this make him the second member of the coven to not die from a rogue Drawn, Herb surviving makes Fegato's an Ironic Death.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: What his mouth is revealed to have. It's unknown if this was caused by Setteveli or not.
  • Not Me This Time: When Olivia asks him about his involvement with Prudenza's death after noticing how Fugo looks under Misfits' effects, he says that while he did meet her before, he denies being there the night she died.
  • People Puppets: What his Drawn seems to allow him to do to anyone affected by it.
  • Shout-Out: What his Drawn ultimately does to people (minus being capable to be aware of what they're doing when controlled) is one big reference to The Exorcist.
  • The Speechless: He seems to not speak with his own voice at all, instead using his Drawn to speak in the voices of other people. As a result, he's the only member of the coven to not have a Hypothetical Casting Choice.

    Farfalle

Bianca Farfalle (Drawn: Unknown)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_farfalle_rough.png
Another member of Missione Boschetto. She notably is revealed to have infiltrated Passione a year before the story's events, and is even a Capo, the only female one of Passione at that. This makes her an important member of the coven despite her short and skinny apperance, as she has been spying on their activities. She has a nickname among Passione in the form of "Little Sister Bianca". She also seems to like dolls a lot and carries one with her almost all the time.
  • Actually, I Am Her: "Little Sister Bianca" is built up as a separate person at first. Then chapter 36 reveals that she and Farfalle are the same person, complete with her full name being Bianca Farfalle.
  • Costume Evolution: Much like Fegato, Setteveli, and Vongolo, her final design differs from the original design she had in the banner. Hers is a more mild change compared to the other ones whose designs were updated.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her surname is a type of pasta that resembles a butterfly.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • She had an Early-Bird Cameo all the way back in chapter 4 during the Capo meeting. The only clue is that she's 18 and the only female Capo.
    • When mention of "Little Sister Bianca" is first made, it's implied that she's a separate person who would be after Risotto once one of her subordinates catches wind of him being in Venice. It helps that him and Vino were already planning to meet up with Farfalle, who had no such mention of any power. However, traits that both "characters" share are that they have white hair, and the "Little Sister" part of the nickname can be interpreted as based on her appearance and not her age, as Farfalle is also short.
  • Mole in Charge: She is this to Passione, with her being a Capo and member of Missione Boschetto. She uses her role to spy on the gang.
  • Mythology Gag: In the manga, Buccellati mentions that there is an 18-year-old Capo, though their gender is never mentioned. Farfalle's age and having this role is a nod to this.
  • Older Than They Look: She's said to be 18 years old, but chapter 36 reveals she only said that so people would take her seriously. She has the look of a ten-year-old because she has a rare condition in her family that stunts growth. She only mentions that she looked like a 2-year-old when she was 10, leaving her actual age unknown.
  • The Smurfette Principle: As far as Capos in Passione go, she's the only female with that power.

    Setteveli

Camillo Setteveli (Drawn: Radiohead)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_setteveli_new_rough.png
Click here to see his initial appearance
A member of Missione Boschetto. Not much is known about him other than how he's the first one to appear in the story in any form and even more after that, has eyes for Giorno, and his Drawn is really effective for reconnaissance.

  • Arachnid Appearance and Attire: His wild hair resembles spider legs, hinting at his territorial and sexually predatory nature.
  • Costume Evolution: His design in the banner onward, which was drawn after his appearance in chapter 9, seems to be different from how he originally appeared.
  • Depraved Homosexual: His uncomfortably heavy-handed advances on Giorno when he's first introduced are one thing, but then it's revealed he made Fegato his toy for six months all because he was blond, and once he got bored of him, he inflicted a combination of Fingore and Tongue Trauma onto him before releasing him from Radiohead's abilities. He even goes as far as to use Vino as a guinea pig for a drug he reveals to plan to use on Giorno should he be captured.
  • Evil Counterpart: His Drawn is one to Moody Blues, since on top of a similar appearance, they both have the ability to replay past events. Radiohead seems to work this way on the memories of whoever it can get ahold of, except this also puts the victim in said memories, which can force them to relive them.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Towards Giorno and later Vino.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: An inverted example, as chapter 40 reveals that he's the only member of the coven who isn't allowed to capture Giorno, and it's because of his Villainous Crush. Thin Lizzy says it's highly suspected that he'll keep Giorno to himself should that happen. This explains why he didn't take a passed out Giorno after the fight with Illuso.
  • The Starscream: Chapter 40 reveals that he plans to overthrow Pomodora.
  • Villainous Crush: Has one on Giorno, though he doesn't know Setteveli is with the enemies.

    "Hound Dog"

"Hound Dog"

A fish ghost that is the guardian of the secret hideout of Missione Boschetto, which resides within a model hotel inside of a fishbowl. It resembles a scaleless goldfish, but with a pale form, is translucent, and has eerie, bulbous eyes. Its ability is believed to be transportation to the hotel hideout by the Witches, and only Pomodora and Thin Lizzy know its origin and age. It's named after a song by Elvis Presley.

Hound Dog only trusts the Witches of Missione Boschetto and is otherwise extremely territorial and capable of biting off the fingers of those who try to enter the hotel without permission. It also likes being fed meat despite being unable to go hungry.
  • Evil Counterpart: Is basically one to Coco Jumbo. While both serve as the hidden method of transportation for both the heroes and these villains, Coco Jumbo is a neutral turtle, allowing anyone to go in and out of Mr. President, while Hound Dog favors the Missione Boschetto Witches and is stated to attack any intruders.
  • Ghostly Animals: Is a ghost fish.
  • Invisibility: Has the ability to turn invisible and visible at will, as demonstrated by Vongolo feeding it, where it turns visible as it eats and turns back invisible once it's done.
  • Killer Rabbit: Despite being very small and looking like a goldfish, it's able to devour a steak, which means that what could happen to a potential intruder is not a pretty picture.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: Despite being a ghost, it's not only capable of attacking living beings, but it can also eat food.

    Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy (Stand: Hapi)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Christopher Corey Smith

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_thin_lizzy.png
Pomodora's second in command, a former servant of Dio, and the second son of Enya. He is another Stand user of the coven, still loyal to Dio's legacy long after his death. It's implied that for this reason, he is why Missione Boschetto is also interested in capturing Giorno. He is named after a band of the same name.

His Stand, Hapi, is named after an Egyptian god of the Nile river. Similar to J. Geil's Hanged Man, it also has a power related to mirrors. Here, anyone that is in the reflection of the mirror on Hapi's turban has their abilities reversed.
  • All There in the Script: While he hasn't been fully explored just yet, additional information is available on the gallery.
  • Alliterative Family: In terms of Stand names, both Hapi and Hanged Man's names start with the same first two letters.
  • Casting Gag: His Hypothetical Casting Choice is the voice of Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Lord Arundel, who is of the same region as Edelgard in that game. Edelgard is voiced by Tara Platt, who is also Pomodora's HCC.
  • The Dragon: To Pomodora, as he's her right-hand man. His status as this and having two right hands doesn't go unnoticed by Setteveli.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Despite being The Unfavorite, he still deeply respected his mother Enya, also seeking her approval despite how she hated him.
  • Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: The reveal of his Stand has him saying this to Risotto Nero.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Even if he is Named After Somebody Famous, it'd be hard to fault someone for thinking he's a girl until it's reinforced that he's the Egyptian man of the group during his introduction.
  • Kick the Dog: Kills Giorno's parents at the start of chapter 18. Chapter 29 also implies he took their heads with him. While Jacopo's head was found in a sewer, Shiori's seems to have been taken for an unknown reason.
  • Mummy: Just like Hanged Man, Hapi also has a Mummy-like appearance, but with some Djinn-like design elements instead.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Apparently did not like J. Geil.
  • Theme Naming: Considering he's a former servant of Dio, his Stand name stays true to the Egyptian Mythology namesakes, complete with a card drawing akin to the ones the Egypt 9 Glory Gods had.
  • The Unfavorite: A very brief and unnamed mention of him in the rewrite of Star-Crossed Crusaders mentioned him to be this in Enya's eyes. Chapter 40 of this story reveals that he thinks the reason his status as this was because he was weak in body and heart compared to J. Geil, and wasn't able to be as depraved as him. One example seems to be how he doesn't relish in doing evil deeds like killing Giorno's parents for one thing.
  • The Remnant: Enya's second son and a former servant of Dio, still loyal to his legacy. For that reason, he's also the one who wants Giorno captured alive.
  • The Reveal: In addition to being a former servant of Dio, it's also revealed he was the one who Risotto dropped off a young Pomodora to, now living in the home where Risotto's cousin's mother used to live.
  • Token Minority: Is Egyptian, given his heritage. This makes him the only member of Missione Boschetto with this distinction.
  • Undying Loyalty:
    • While not afraid to criticize her actions, he's very loyal to Pomodora and refuses to see any harm come to her, as shown by him being greatly concerned for her during his introduction, which was when Pomodora made herself bleed to demonstrate the Wheel of Abraxas to the Hitman Team.
    • Chapter 40 has him mention his reasons for being so loyal to Dio even after his family members' deaths was because he saw him as a fatherly Parental Substitute.

    Pomodora Natale

Pomodora Natale (Drawn: Cranberries)

Hypothetical Casting Choice: Tara Platt

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_pomodora_a.png
"As long as it takes to overthrow Passione's boss, I don't care how much I bleed."
Cranberries
The leader of Missione Boschetto, and the last surviving member of the Natale family. Has a mysterious past with Risotto Nero. She is the secondary Big Bad of the story.

Similar to Risotto Nero's Metallica, her Drawn also resides within her blood, but its exact abilities are unknown.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Calls Risotto "Riz". It's stated her introduction to the Hitman Team was not their first time meeting.
  • Bloody Murder: Of all the Witches in Missione Boschetto, she's gone out of her way to state that her blood is something anyone working with her should not get on them. Part of this reason is that it's tied to her Drawn's abilities, and while what it can exactly do is unknown, we get a disturbing glimpse of it when she covers Risotto's retreat after the photo of the Santa Lucia station is restored.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her first name is the Italian word for "Tomato".
  • Last of Her Kind: Is the last living member of the Natale family and descendant of Abraxas the first witch.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Chapter 40 has her say something like this to Vino during their one-to-one conversation, mentioning how they both have a desire to get revenge on the men responsible for destroying their families.
  • Precocious Crush: Had a crush on Risotto, her savior, since she was 13.
  • Sole Survivor: While there were members of the Natale family that were held captive in their own mansion as long as they paid Passione, Burro would have them executed anyway two years after the wedding massacre when they were stripped of everything. Pomodora was the sole survivor of this because her mother used her body to shield her from the bullets. Risotto, who had a different moral code at the time, snuck her out and took her in for a while before leaving her in his old village.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Not long after secretly being taken in by Risotto, she already wanted to learn how to kill so she could exact revenge on Passione. Then there's also her Precocious Crush on Risotto, to the point where she tried to sleep in his bed naked while making an advance on him. Risotto immediately threw her out of the room upon being awoken by it, and this would lead to him leaving her in his old village the following day.

Caesar's Siblings

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_caesar_siblings.png
From left to right: Julia, Fredo, Francesco, Cornelia

    Fredo Zeppeli

Alfredo "Fredo" Zeppeli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_caesar_siblings_5.png
The second oldest sibling of Caesar alongisde his brother Francesco. He was the one who first entered the criminal underworld in attempt to keep his family together and would rise to power as an associate under Don Natale. He would ultimately be assassinated by the Camorra.
  • All for Nothing: His desire to protect his remaining family came crashing down hard on him when his youngest sister was killed in a hit intended for him. He even ended up breaking the original family up even further when his ruthless ambitions have pushed away his siblings and his own son.
  • Badass Bookworm: The only one among Caesar's siblings who received a proper education.
  • Cain and Abel: With Caesar, and later his twin Francesco.
  • The Consigliere: He is Boss Natale's most trusted associate along with being his adopted son. Even his sons (minus Sonny) later become advisors to the Natale Gang.
  • Continuity Nod: A snippet of his last interaction with Caesar is taken straight from a flashback of the original version of Star-Crossed Crusaders, highlighting another aspect of the story that is still canon. Then again, his entire existence also reaffirms this.
  • The Dreaded: Fredo was given a lot of power as a consigliere that other gangsters feared him. Even after his death, the Zeppeli family still has a terrifying reputation.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: An internal example, but when he's finally assassinated by the Camorra, the last thing on his mind is cursing the witch he and Francesco met and how her unclear warning led to Cornelia's death.
  • Death Wail: He lets one out when Cornelia is fatally shot in a hit meant for him and she dies in his arms.
  • Evil Parents Want Good Kids: Averted. He gets his children into the gangster business and he disowned Sonny when he refused to (on top of marrying a Japanese woman).
  • Faux Affably Evil: He had a reputation of being a professional gentleman with a cruel and violent streak. In one incident, when an old woman complained to him that her criminal son wouldn't pay back a loan, he paid it himself and killed the son.
  • Never Found the Body: His body was never recovered after his death.
  • Rasputinian Death: While how he died is mentioned in Star-Crossed Crusaders (being gunned down in an ambush by the Camorra before they lit his body on fire and threw him off a cliff), the story reveals he was still alive after being gunned down. This makes being lit on fire and falling to his death the last things done to him before he finally bit it.
  • Villainous Legacy: Fredo was already long dead before the story started (even as far back as Star-Crossed Crusaders), but his influence still affected his current descendants.

    Francesco Zeppeli

Francesco Zeppeli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_caesar_siblings_8.png
Fredo's twin brother. Unlike Fredo though, he has birthmarks under his eyes.

  • Big Brother Instinct: When he gets mugged by two thugs, he asks them to not touch the Chocolate, which he bought for Cornelia since it's her favorite. When they go against that, that's what sends him into an anger-filled attack on them. All in the name of protecting his youngest sister's favorite snack.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He was pretty hot-blooded when he was younger, to the point where he'd get in fights and Fredo had to bail him out. Considering Olivia is his descendant, this is where she got it from.
  • Parental Abandonment: After Fredo's death, he goes into hiding out of concern the Camorra could come after him next. In the process, he leaves his son to protect him.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: He and Fredo are twins, but he's the more boisterous and louder one, compared to how Fredo is usually more reserved.
  • Stress Vomit: Has this reaction when he's horrified about Fredo killing the drunken Camorra man in cold blood.
  • Undignified Death: Compared to how Fredo and Cornelia bit it, he dies from a fatal stabbing from a homeless man.

    Julia Zeppeli

Julia Zeppeli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_julia.png
The oldest sister of Caesar's siblings, and the only one to still be alive following the events of the flashback chapters.
See "Grandma Julia" on the character page for Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain for tropes on her.

    Cornelia Zeppeli

Cornelia Zeppeli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_caesar_siblings_1.png
The youngest of Caesar's siblings. She's also the most chipper of the bunch.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: After she's fatally shot by the bullet meant for Fredo, Fredo tries to cradle her to comfort her, and she dies seconds later.
  • Genki Girl: She's the most energetic of Caesar's siblings.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She was never aware of what Fredo actually did, and she dies not knowing he was a gangster.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: She dies within seconds of being hit in the heart by the bullet meant for Fredo. Her last words are simply just "B-brother..." before she succumbs to her fatal wound.
  • Sweet Tooth: Chocolate was her favorite snack.

Others

    Giorno's Mother / Shiori Shiobana

Shiori Shiobana

Giorno's mother and Hitomi's former teacher.
See here for tropes applying to her originally.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: First appeared all the way back in Star-Crossed Crusaders.
  • Alliterative Name: Shiori Shiobana.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: A deconstructed example. Even though she and Jacopo were not good parents to Giorno, Giorno still feels some grief upon learning they had been murdered. However, in the following scene, he clarifies that he feels nothing for his father and couldn't bring himself to cry for either of them despite still feeling some sadness about the death of his mother. Giorno concludes he's more sad about how he has no family left now (or so he thinks).
  • Bitch Slap: Gave one to Hitomi in Star-Crossed Crusaders when Hitomi attempted to call out her neglect of Giorno.
  • Break Her By Talking: She did this to Hitomi leading up to her Bitch Slap in Star-Crossed Crusaders, threatening her to not see her son ever again and that she'd make Hitomi's school life hell if she didn't comply. When this reduces Hitomi to shaking in fear, she twists the knife by proceeding to taunt her.
  • Hate Sink: Arguably even more than in the source material. While we know she was a bad mother to Giorno, Star-Crossed Crusaders gives a lot of Adaptation Expansion to show that she was also a little physically abusive to Giorno, but enough to where Hitomi noticed bruises on him. On top of her cruelty towards Hitomi, even Jotaro had his life negatively affected by her, as she's responsible for Sadao seemingly cheating on Holly, which ended up straining Jotaro's relationship with him.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: In chapter 18, she begins to feel remorse for how she treated Giorno while clearing out his room, but then she is killed by Thin Lizzy moments later.
  • Irony:
    • In chapter 3, her revealing her pregnancy and expressing excitement about having another child right to Giorno's face is full of this. It's simply because of how it's only after all of her neglect and abuse towards Giorno that she seems interested in having another child. However, said unborn child dies along with Shiori later on.
    • While she did start to feel remorse over her treatment of Giorno as mentioned above, she still did a lot of other wrongs in the past. While she was killed before she could go any further with such thoughts, what pretty much drives this home is how she doesn't really recognize Hitomi when they come across each other, implying she thought very little of her.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: She gets away with what she does in Star-Crossed Crusaders thanks to being Saved by Canon. Here, she's not safe from that anymore as Hitomi's first instinct upon a chance reunion with her is to throw the cappuccino she was drinking at her. Later on, Thin Lizzy calls out her neglectfulness towards Giorno before he kills her, which gives her karma for her actions towards both Hitomi and Giorno. Even then, her death could also be seen as the culmination of everything she had coming.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Her first name was never known in the source material, so here she's given a first name.

    Prudenza

Prudenza

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_prudenza.png
Olivia's friend and former roommate when she came to Naples. Is shown to have fallen to drugs by the beginning of the story.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed / Mercy Kill: In chapter 4, she attempts this on herself with the gun she has when she momentarily returns to her normal self after attacking Olivia and Mista, but the gun is out of bullets, leading to a worse death for her.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: The moment she realizes she's out of bullets in her gun is the same moment the boils on her face she has by then explode and immolate her as she falls to her death.
  • Disney Villain Death: She's not a villain in any way, but her last moment being falling to her death is certainly reminiscent of one.
  • Face–Monster Turn: Due to the effects of an unknown Drawn ability, she gains an inhuman complexion and abilities (almost reminiscent of Phantom Blood's vampires) and attacks Mista and Olivia.
  • Innocent Bystander: Considering her death was part of all the fiery deaths orchestrated by Pomodora as a means to get The Hitman Team's attention, she likely counts as this.
  • People Puppets: She does this on Mista during her Face–Monster Turn.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Dies to the Drawn ability of an unknown member of Missione Boschetto in chapter 4.
  • Sanity Slippage: She's not in a pretty state by time we see her in chapter 4, as not only is she described to look sicker, she even resorts to armed robbery to get a good luck charm. We soon see this is not just because of the drugs, but also the unknown Drawn ability that caused her Face–Monster Turn and her death.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was friends with Olivia. Flashbacks indicate that before she fell to drugs, she treated her very well, helped her get her job at Club L'amore, and was implied to still treat her well after learning she was transgender.

    Jotaro Kujo

Jotaro Kujo (Stand: Star Platinum: The World)

Now engaged to Hitomi, he sends Koichi and her to Italy to investigate Giorno, though he initially didn't intend to let Hitomi go with Koichi.
See the character page for Star-Crossed Crusaders for tropes on him that apply to the series.

    Hitomi Bongiovi

Hitomi Bongiovi (Stand: Ace of Cups)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_hitomi.png
Accompanies Koichi to Italy. While she does know how to get by from her last visit, her real reasons for visiting Italy again is not just to see Giorno again, but also for vengeance purposes.
See the character page for Star-Crossed Crusaders for tropes on her.

The Extra Visitors (Early Story Spoilers)

Josuke Higashikata (Stand: Crazy Diamond) and Fubuki Kurosawa (Stand: Purple Rain)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_josuke_and_fubuki.png
Josuke: "Heeey, Koichi!" Fubuki: "I guess you're mad that we didn't tell you that we're coming to Italy as well."
Secretly on the same flight as Hitomi and Koichi, they too enter Italy with them on Jotaro's orders, although with a different objective.
See the character page for Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain for tropes on them.

    Olivia's Guardian (SPOILERS

Hol Horse (Stand: Emperor)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_hol_horse.png
A mercenary cowboy and former servant of Dio. Unlike Thin Lizzy, he's no longer loyal to him. He looked after Olivia from approximately 1991 to 1999 before she moved to Naples. His reasons for being in Italy are unknown, but his main mission in the story seems to be to just bring Olivia home.

For tropes applying to Hol Horse in Stardust Crusaders, see here.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Unlike the manga and anime, Emperor is gold, like in the OVA. It's unknown whether it was always gold back during the events of Star-Crossed Crusaders, or if it somehow changed between then and this story, similar to how parts of Jotaro's Star Platinum changed colors on each subsequent part in the anime he brought it out in.
  • Catapult Nightmare: His nightmares of Dio are said to result in these, as he'd wake up in a cold sweat.
  • Continuity Nod: Has a bullet scar on his forehead from how he was put out of commission from Stardust Crusaders.
  • Dramatic Irony: When he finds Olivia's apartment, he sees that Dieci and Donato are already inside, also looking for Olivia. However, he doesn't know that Dieci is her long lost father, seems to miss the implications of Dieci believing Buccellati will keep her safe, and then he draws their aggro by trying to shoot his hallucination of Dio, which only hit a wall but was enough for Donato to pursue him.
  • Foreshadowing/Re-Read Bonus:
    • It's very subtle, but chapter 2 mentions Olivia already knew what Stands were before she got hers, and thought only weird people had them. This alone hints that she knew someone who was a Stand user in the past.
    • This story's version of The Grateful Dead arc drops two particular pieces that foreshadows him being Olivia's guardian:
    • When the group is inside of the turtle in chapter 22, Olivia chugs a cold beer can in front of Trish, which then prompts the following exchange:
Trish: I've never seen another girl drink it down like a cowboy.
Olivia: Impressed, huh? I can even teach you how to spit like one.
    • One line of dialogue at the start of chapter 23 is when Olivia offhandedly mentions that she once heard of a Stand that can make people younger when the group first witnesses The Grateful Dead's effects. Considering that this is referring to Alessi, this serves as one big clue as to who she might have heard this from in addition to what's subtly established in chapter 2.
      • His introduction at the end of the arc has Club L'amore's owner mention how Hol Horse is the second person coming to look for Olivia and a photo of her (referring to Pesci as the first). He wonders if he's Olivia's lover, which Hol Horse refutes while not explaining his exact connection to Olivia. Given he's shown to be her guardian after this chapter, it's easy to see why he shoots that idea down.
  • Mythology Gag: He has a design original to this story, but it has two notable design elements: he has three watches on his left arm, referencing his design from Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak. His belt buckle and pose in his artwork are taken from an illustration from Over Heaven.
  • Pet the Dog: A flashback shows that one night when he didn't have a nightmare of Dio, he's awoken by Olivia instead, but it's because she had a nightmare. He allows Olivia to sleep in his bed, fully understanding why.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Similar to Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, Hol Horse is implied to have PTSD from during the time he served Dio. Here, he's said to sometimes have nightmares of him and he begins seeing hallucinations of Dio at the mention of Giorno's name.
  • Walking Spoiler: Much like Polnareff in the original, his very presence in the story is a spoiler, which is also a given since originally, he never appeared after Stardust Crusaders.

The Disciples (Spoilers for Chapter 37)

    Peaches and Herb

Peaches and Herb

Hypothetical Casting Choices: Peaches: Ryan Bartley (English) | Herb: Khoi Dao (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_disciples.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_disciples_6.png
The two new disciples and Hamon/Ripple users of Air Supplena Island, who were previously university students interested in martial arts. They initially clash with Buccellati's team until they're ordered to stop by their master, then becoming minor supporting characters during the group's time on the island.

Peaches is the pretty hot-blooded and loud one of the two. Her weapon of choice is a Shinai, which she uses in tandem with Hamon/Ripple. Herb is the more calm and collected one of the two. He uses metal gauntlets with Hamon/Ripple, and seems to mainly use it with the Earth.
  • Ascended Fangirl / Fanboy: They are fans of Hamon/Ripple and they sought out Lisa Lisa to train them, and they even become skilled in the art.
  • Action Girl: Peaches is an example of this.
  • Bleed 'Em and Weep / Tears of Joy: Peaches bursts into tears after Lisa Lisa frees her from Misfits' control, which was after she (seemingly) killed Herb during it. When Herb is shown to still be alive and healed by Giorno, she's in relieved tears over it.
  • Call-Back: Two rather dark ones to Battle Tendency.
    • Herb (seemingly) dies in the same way Loggins did.
    • Peaches under Misfits' control suddenly arriving into Lisa Lisa's quarters echoes Suzi Q suddenly present when she was possessed by Esidisi.
  • Casting Gag: Both of their HCCs have previously voiced characters in Stardust Crusaders' dub: Anne the Runaway Girl and Chaka. Considering another Part 3 character Ray Chase also voiced in English and how he's the English voice of Buccellati, you could say Anne has had another run-in with Rubber Soul.
    • Even then, Ray Chase voiced Loggins too, and his character basically gets to be on Air Supplena Island again...and they both ultimately die in their respective stories.
  • Coordinated Clothes: Them being disciples of Air Supplena Island, and succsessors to Loggins and Messina in a way, they have very similar clothes.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Herb has a mild one to Peaches after he explains how he was able to survive until Giorno saved him.
Herb: Luckily, I was only stabbed in one lung and I was still able to breathe for about twenty minutes. You can stop crying now, Peaches.
Peaches: I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD! AND SO DID THE READERS FOR THE PAST TWO CHAPTERS!
  • Dishing Out Dirt: What Herb's Ripple/Hamon skills allow him to do.
  • Face–Monster Turn: Peaches ends up impaling Herb, but moments before, she was unusually quiet and her skin was pale. Sure enough, it turns out she was attacked by Fegato's Drawn and was put under its control.
  • Foreshadowing: In the moments leading up to Herb's (supposed) death, Peaches' skin ends up turning pale, and then she's described to have a corpse-like appearance when it's shown she killed Herb, which is also shown to be Fegato's handiwork. Considering how Prudenza looked leading up to her death, this seems to foreshadow Fegato being responsible for that too, but he denies being involved the night of her death despite him saying he saw her before, making that part a Red Herring.
  • Genre Savvy: Peaches briefly wonders if Bruno is a zombie considering how a droplet of a Ripple-infused lemon affected him, opposed to how it normally works (which is supposed to be a stun).
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Peaches is hot-blooded and is a bit quick to anger.
  • Hand Gagging: Played for Laughs as Herb does this to her when she still acts hot-blooded towards Buccellati's team even after Lisa Lisa has stepped in.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Platonic example.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After Lisa Lisa frees Peaches from Misfits' control, Peaches' first action after coming to is to loudly bawl about being unable to control her body with what happened. It's very much implied she's horrified at what she did, especially watching Herb die, unable to do anything about it.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: They are named after the "Peaches & Herb" duo.
  • Not Quite Dead: Herb is ultimately shown to have survived his wound thanks to only being impaled on one lung, and being saved by Giorno, presumably while the group was searching for Olivia and Fugo.
  • No Indoor Voice: Peaches tends to speak pretty loudly when yelling.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: They have this dynamic, with Peaches being the Red Oni and Herb being the Blue Oni.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Before it's subverted, this applies to Herb seemingly dying in the same chapter he's introduced by a Face–Monster Turn-driven Peaches.
  • Those Two Guys: They're two supporting characters during the heroes' time on Air Supplena Island, always seen with each other, and have their own dynamic.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Herb seemingly dies in the same chapter he's introduced, but this is ultimately subverted at the end of the Misfits arc.

    The Master (SPOILERS

Lisa Lisa, AKA Elizabeth Joestar (Stand: Hermit Heliotrope)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lddva_disciples_9.png
"I told you, you don't have to call me 'master', I'm supposed to be retired..."
A master of the art of Ripple/Hamon and the owner of Air Supplena Island. After only appearing in flashbacks and being mentioned in the previous two stories, Lisa Lisa finally appears in the present day of the story proper, still alive despite more than 50 years having passed since Battle Tendency's events. She plays a supporting role during Team Buccellati's time on Air Supplena Island.

For tropes applying to her in Battle Tendency, see here.

  • Adaptational Explanation: It's mentioned that she still owns Air Supplena Island, and she visits it once a year to maintain the buildings and to keep the history of Ripple training alive, not wanting it to be lost forever after Straizo turning evil and dying caused Tonpetty's temple in Tibet to fall.
  • Adaptational Skill:
    • She is shown to have learned the inverse of Tonpetty's skill that allowed him to see the future. She uses this to see Buccellati's, and then Olivia and Giorno's pasts. This is also how she learns of Giorno's connection to Dio.
    • Chapter 38 reveals that she had awakened a Stand similar to Joseph's. It's also implied this was the first time she ever used it for combat during its brief usage to incapacitate the possesed Peaches.
Lisa Lisa: So, this is how using a Stand feels like. It feels like a further evolution of the Ripple. It's no wonder how Joseph was able to summon it so naturally...
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain first mentioned her to have been the one to deliver Will's letters to the surviving Zeppeli family. The moment is shown in chapter 26 of this story. On top of what's already been established, she's pretty important to the Zeppeli legacy.
    • When Olivia comes across Caesar's memorial, Lisa Lisa says that what's left of him is buried there and Joseph was the one who had the memorial made. This implies that his remains were exhumed after Battle Tendency's events. Considering how Caesar died though, it's a given that they wouldn't exactly have been in one piece.
    • Doubling as a Mythology Gag to rey infinito, she is revealed to be the current head of the Speedwagon Foundation.
    • On top of the above, she also mentions Jotaro used to call her "Granny Lisa". This also seems to imply she knows of her other grandchildren if she's had previous contact with Jotaro.
  • Alliterative Name: For her Stand, Hermit Heliotrope.
  • Big Good: Considering she's Joseph's mother and him and Caesar's old mentor, she's the oldest of all characters that this applies to, as despite her age, she's still able to convey a sense of authority. Especially once it's revealed she's the head of the Speedwagon Foundation and is in touch with Jotaro.
  • Call-Back:
    • After she reveals her age to Olivia, she's in disbelief about her age despite her looks, just like Joseph was. This doesn't go unnoticed by Lisa Lisa.
    • When she is approached by the possessed Peaches, the foul scent of the dead she gives off is familiar to Lisa Lisa, reminding her of the zombie that killed her first husband.
    • Before she phones Jotaro, she is shown to still have Joseph's spirit photo of Dio from prior to Stardust Crusaders' events, where Joseph mentioned he spoke to his mother about Dio before coming to Japan.
  • Cool Old Lady: Having learned a new Ripple/Hamon skill and later giving advice to Olivia after telling her about Caesar, she certainly hasn't lost her wisdom despite being retired. She's also able to still ascend the steps of Hell Climb Tower without breaking a sweat. Overall, she's mellowed out since Battle Tendency's events now that the threat of the Pillar Men is over and she's been since reunited with Joseph.
    • She's also still able to remain calm enough in the face of a possesed Peaches to summon her Stand and incapacitate her, freeing Peaches from Misfits' control.
  • Internal Reveal: Two of them over the course of the gang's time on Air Supplena Island. One is when she learns Olivia is a Zeppeli from looking at Bruno's memories, and the other is when she learns Giorno is Dio's son from Giorno's memories.
  • Long-Lived: For human standards, she's lived much longer than the average human. Helps that she looks younger than her actual age.
  • Meaningful Name: The "Heliotrope" in Hermit Heliotrope has two things that fit the name. For one, heliotrope is a purple-pink tint associated with heliotrope flowers. Secondly, doubling as a Genius Bonus, the word itself is derived from the old belief that the plants' inflorescences turned their flowers towards the sun.
  • Mythology Gag: Her design for the story seems to be partially inspired by how she looked in the epilogue of Battle Tendency in the anime. She's wearing the same shirt and the same shape of earrings she had in the brief scene with her, Joseph, and Suzi Q on a boat.
  • Not So Stoic: After seeing through Bruno's past, she's visibly shocked to see Olivia, a living descendant of Caesar's siblings. This doesn't go unnoticed by Giorno.
  • Older Than They Look: She is 112 years old at the time of the story. Thanks to her Ripple training, she looks like she's in her 70s to 80s and still active. That said, she's still in fairly good shape, only needing a cane to get around.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Peaches and Herb choose to fight off Team Buccellati when they first meet on Air Supplena Island, thinking they're intruders who want to take over the island. Once Lisa Lisa arrives on the scene and halts the battle, she decides to be the one to handle the matter. This allows Buccellati to explain the situation, ultimately allowing the team on the island until they're able to take a boat back to the mainland.
  • Walking Spoiler: While she has an established legacy of being mentioned in the last two stories and appearing in a flashback in Star-Crossed Crusaders and here, it's nearly impossible to mention her in the context of this story beyond those since she's a character who originally never appeared after the part she debuted in.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Her response to Olivia mentioning she's related to ruthless gangsters? Tell her she's already aware of Fredo's legacy, and how it shouldn't stop her from creating a path of her own.
  • You Remind Me of X: When talking to Olivia at the memorial for Caesar, she mentions that Olivia's behavior reminds her of Joseph's back during the events of Battle Tendency.
