Lacrime D'oro del Vento Aureo (Golden Tears of The Golden Wind) is a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fanfiction by CandyAshes. It is a sequel to Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain, and is an Alternate Universe retelling of Golden Wind.

The story follows Olivia Zeppeli, a young woman who was separated from her parents when younger, and lived with a guardian for two years before moving to Naples in search of her Disappeared Dad after getting word that he lives in the city. The influence of gangsters made it hard for her to get by with money, leading her to despise them for it. Despite that, joining their ranks is part of her misson to find her father. However, she would soon have a fateful encounter with Giorno Giovanna, and learn about the dream he carries. Unbeknowst to her, however. The Zeppeli name isn't exactly a good one among veteran gangsters, which serves as one of multiple mysteries to be faced as she follows Giorno.

This entry is notably Darker and Edgier unlike its predecessors, as it has a mature rating on Archive of Our Own. The author strongly recommends reading Star-Crossed Crusaders and Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain before reading this one, as several things established in both stories finally come together here as shown by various chapters in this fanfiction.

The fanfiction was first published on February 4th, 2021, and is currently on an indefinite hiatus. (last updated July 24th, 2022)

Has a gallery full of biographies for the characters who appear, and illustrations made for certain points in the story. Read through the gallery at your own risk, as there will be spoilers for later points in the story (including some Late-Arrival Spoilers).

Lacrime D'oro del Vento Aureo provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Accidental Pervert: In chapter 15, Olivia enters the bathroom in the team's hideout to bathe, completely unaware that Trish is already in it. This leads to a domino effect as she tries to leave.
  • Adaptational Explanation: How Bruno got ahold of the body parts of Leaky-Eye Luca's corpse is shown in chapter 5. He simply took them from his body inside a morgue using Sticky Fingers, where he and Olivia were called to in order to look into his corpse.
  • Adaptational Sexuality:
    • Mista being bisexual and Giorno being gay. They become an Official Couple in chapter 32 after a lot of Ship Teases as early as their first meeting.
    • Ghiaccio and Melone of The Hitman Team are implied to be bisexual as well, with Melone stated to have gotten frisky with him one night.
  • Adaptational Skill: Leaky-Eye Luca's shovel is adapted into a Stand that is visible to even non-Stand users. He naturally doesn't use it against Giorno since he was unaware that he is a Stand user.
  • Adaptation Deviation: As per all the fanfics in the series so far through big and small things. Below are some examples:
    • The scenes leading up to the Sleeping Slaves arc are shown in chronological order, and the arc itself happens off-screen.
    • Bruno brings Olivia along with him for his interrogation of Giorno, which leads to her being present for the fight, as well as some differences in the fight and aftermath.
    • Olivia decides to assist Giorno in secret with the lighter, which leads to her being a part of the encounter with Black Sabbath.
    • Josuke and Fubuki are also sent to Italy by Jotaro, although unbeknowst to Hitomi and Koichi. Their objective was to keep an eye on Hitomi since Jotaro suspected her reason for going was to exact revenge on Burro. However, Josuke does get to meet Giorno during his time in Italy.
    • Trish's introduction plays out with some differences, mainly how Olivia is the one who ends up going up to her instead of Narancia due to Olivia moving up to Trish quicker. As a result, she's the one who gets a surprise attack, which is a judo throw instead of what happened to Narancia in canon.
    • Nearly every fight against members of the Hitman Team significantly differ due to the involvement of Missione Boschetto. The Beach Boy and Grateful Dead and White Album arcs have the largest amount of changes.
    • Chapter 20 has Setteveli replacing the marble inside the ornate key with a different one, which adds a darkness filled room inside Mr. President. It seems to be dangerous as a mirror tossed into it disappears with no impact, for example. Naturally, Buccellati and his team generally choose to avoid it.
    • Chapter 22 has a more humorous example: Fugo's Accidental Pervert moment plays out differently, with Olivia actually causing the swerve that made Fugo fall into Trish with her Stand's ability. Next, she uses a black puzzle piece on Mista's belt...which destroys it, exposing his boxers. Hilarity Ensues as this actually causes Trish to freak out and start throwing books at Fugo and Mista.
    • In chapter 33, Bruno sneaks Olivia into the church with him, leading to some differences before he escapes with Trish and Olivia.
    • During the Clash and Talking Head arc, Squalo is (seemingly) finished off by Mista instead, much to Narancia's annoyance. However, soon after that, Squalo is revealed to have survived the attack and goes after Buccellati's team one last time, allowing Narancia to finish him off like he did in canon. It's then revealed that Squalo's attack was planned as a Suicide Attack, as his boat explodes after he's killed. Because he destroyed the Heroes' boat, this leads to another deviation in the plot where the group heads for Air Supplena Island to hide.
    • Chapter 38 has a very big one in the form of the rest of Bruno's men learning the truth about Luca's death and how Buccellati met Giorno thanks to an outburst by Olivia. The team overall seems to take it well for the most part despite the ensuing commotion.
  • Adaptation Distillation: Various scenes that would play out unchanged for the most part (such as the Sleeping Slaves arc, the Soft Machine fight and a good chunk of the Clash and Talking Head fight) are skipped, usually with original scenes via a flashback to expand certain things.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Just like its predecessors, more things are added to various characters, such as additional scenes.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Rather than go with the First-Name Basis for everyone else in the Bodyguard Team, Olivia also calls Giorno "GioGio", and when she comes out as transgender to Fugo, she calls him "Panna" after he accepts her. He was the sole exception to the name basis due to them not getting along up until that point.
    • This later becomes subverted with Bruno due to Olivia beginning to feel hateful thoughts towards him for not telling her about her father's whereabouts sooner, and not helped by how Trish seemingly only seems to show affection for him in chapter 38.
  • Ascended Extra: Just like the previous fanfic, some characters are this, with some doubling as Named by the Adaptation.
    • The mobster Giorno savednote  is given a bigger role. He's named "Tony Dieci", and is the one who accepted Bruno into Passione after countless requests as mentioned in his backstory.
    • Burro is one of the gangsters seen discussing Polpo's death in the anime. This is alluded to at the start of Chapter 11 with a line taken from the same scene.
"According to our intelligence team, it might've been suicide."
    • A minor example, but Olivia is revealed to have been the woman that Mista saved in his flashback. This explains her close bond with Mista.
    • Vino is a Composite Character of two extras. He's not only the kid who Mista mentioned to have had his eye scratched out from the litter of four kittens, but also the kid from the anime who chased after the mobster Giorno saved with a gun after he killed Vino's drug dealing father.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • The Stinger of Chapter 25 has a strange man enter Club L'amore, looking for Olivia. Considering Thin Lizzy's brutal Kick the Dog moment at the start of chapter 18, one would think he's back again and about to murder Olivia's boss, until it's quickly revealed he has different features, and he's none other than Hol Horse.
    • In chapter 33, Fugo seems to choose not to accompany everyone else like in the original, seemingly also breaking his promise to Olivia to help find her father in the process. As the boat leaves, he ends up changing his mind and swims after the boat with Narancia, with his bond with Olivia, even as they parted ways being the catalyst for changing his mind.
    • Squalo is seemingly finished off by Mista (who rushed off to look for Giorno) instead of Narancia, seemingly also removing his finisher with Aerosmith. He then is revealed to still be alive and chases after the group one last time, complete with Clash being large enough to destroy the heroes' boat. Even then, after he's finished off, his boat explodes before the heroes can use it to proceed since he rigged it with bombs.
    • Giorno's prank on Olivia in chapter 37 essentially hinged on this. As while it was normal tea all along, much to Olivia's annoyance, he played it as if he was doing his own take on Abbacchio's attempted version of serving Giorno "tea". Olivia even drank it fully expecting it to be what she thought it was as a Karmic Nod to her joke from the previous chapter.
  • Bad Boss: Burro. Not only does he stab one of his underlings with a knife for nearly blurting out Polpo's treasure, but he's more annoyed at another underling dying a horrific death to a reflected projectile from his Stand due to arriving at the wrong time.
  • Big Damn Reunion: The title of chapter 9 is this, and with how Hitomi finally reunites with Giorno for the first time since the events of her backstory in Star-Crossed Crusaders. 12 years had passed since she last saw him, though it's a bit one-sided on Hitomi's end until she's able to jog more of Giorno's memory, who by then is grateful for Hitomi's care.
  • Bilingual Bonus: "Dieci", Tony Dieci's surname, means "Ten" in Italian, which is represented by the letter "X" in Roman numerals. In other words, it's a clever way to retain the "Mr. X" name he had in the credits of Golden Wind's English dub.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: This fanfic series' Once Per Installment Running Gag happens when Peaches is crying over Herb still being alive after being healed by Giorno, lampshading his Not Quite Dead status. Abbacchio even lampshades the running gag itself.
Peaches: I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD! AND SO DID THE READERS FOR THE PAST TWO CHAPTERS!
Abbacchio (Muttering grumpily): And there's the obligatory fourth-wall break.
  • Brick Joke:
    • Doubling as a Call-Forward, after Olivia and Fugo get into a fight in chapter 3, Mista and Olivia have this exchange, which comes full circle in chapter 10.
Olivia: Guido… Am I really sloppy? That guy Fugo is a jerk.
Mista: You should see how angry he gets around Narancia.
    • In chapter 4, Olivia's gift to Abbacchio on his birthday is...a coffee mug that looks like a toilet. While Abbacchio smashes it, much to Olivia's laughter, it comes up again when she learns Abbacchio tried to prank Giorno in chapter 10.
Olivia: ...Shoulda kept my birthday gift to you. Would have been absolutely perfect.
    • A subtle one, but during the flashback to the Morioh cast in chapter 6, Josuke is mentioned to have wanted expensive shoes upon hearing Koichi was heading for Italy. When Josuke is actually seen in the story and is talking with Fubuki in Koichi and Hitomi's hotel room, he brings up wanting to buy them while in Italy.
  • Call-Back:
    • Chapter 17 contains a villainous one to Stardust Crusaders in the form of Gamberi and Formaggio urinating into the bottle they managed to trap both Olivia and Narancia in.
    • Chapter 24 has another one to Stardust Crusaders, although it's very brief, as it's a single line of dialogue when Spumoni confronts Bruno inside the turtle, with the latter ready to fight the former despite the circumstances:
Spumoni: Oh? You're approaching me? Despite being old and dried up like a tumbleweed in an American desert, you're planning to take me down?
    • In Chapter 37, following a mean-spirited joke on Olivia's end in the previous chapter, Giorno gives Olivia cup of tea that he poured, the same way Abbacchio did with his "tea". It turns out to just be normal tea, but Giorno acting reminiscent of last time got Olivia thinking he did the same thing.
    • Chapter 38 has a possessed Peaches suddenly appearing in Lisa Lisa's room, which is very similar to when a possessed Suzi Q did the same. Well, thankfully minus Lisa Lisa being naked this time around.
  • Call-Forward:
    • During the Capo meeting in chapter 4, Diavolo (through a laptop) asks Pericolo to stay in the room as the rest of the Capos are dismissed, saying he has an important assignment for him.
    • In chapter 22, after Fugo and Mista's Accidental Pervert moment (that escalated thanks to Olivia pulling some strings), Trish could only mutter the following after she and Olivia swap places in the van:
Trish: I hate smelly foolish men...
    • Chapter 31 has Diavolo considering the following when recalling the events that have transpired:
Diavolo: Still, it's quite a coincidence how Buccellati quickly became a capo on the same day Polpo was murdered... When it's time to drop off my daughter, I might have to remind him of who's in charge of this organization.
  • The Cameo: Due to being set before, during, and after the events of Battle Tendency, chapter 26 has Suzi Q and then Lisa Lisa making appearances, with the latter's being especially important as she not only tells Caesar's surviving family what happened to him, but also gives Will Zeppeli's letters to Julia, which were in her and Norisuke's possession during Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain. The following chapter shows that Speedwagon was how Hitomi's father Sonny got ahold of Will's diary, which was shown at the beginning of the rewrite of Star-Crossed Crusaders (which also had Sonny mention that Speedwagon gave it to him). He gave it to him in secret after Fredo refused it.
  • Canon Character All Along: The identity of Olivia's guardian is shrouded in mystery with minimal foreshadowing until chapter 32 finally reveals in a flashback that it's indeed Hol Horse.
  • Cathartic Crying: Hitomi breaks down into one of these once Burro is dead, having avenged her father and Vincent Bongiovi.
  • Connected All Along: In chapter 11, shortly before she's thrusted into her fight with Burro, Hitomi realizes Olivia was the same girl she saved during the wedding massacre after remembering she saved a girl with birthmarks under her eyes while remembering the incident.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • When Abbacchio insists on taking the work Bruno brings up during his birthday in chapter 4, his other reason for insisting is in reference to what led to his partner's death in his backstory.
Abbacchio: Listen, if there's anything I hate, it is a robber who gets away.
    • In chapter 8, Josuke kneels alongside Giorno in addition to closing the dead janitor's eyes, knowing what it's like to be partly responsible for a death with how his grandfather Ryohei died.
    • During the Hitman Team's Early-Bird Cameo at Club L'amore in chapter 10, Ghiaccio's response to Melone licking water off him alludes to a scene from the anime.
Melone: I thought I could taste that dancer.
Ghiaccio: What the fuck is wrong with you?! Go leer at some woman's feet or something.
  • Darker and Edgier: Unlike the previous fanfics by the author, this one has a Mature rating. Considering the tone shift Golden Wind already had, and some of the more violent and disturbing moments in the story, it has this rating for a good reason.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Giorno's parents are killed by Thin Lizzy at the start of chapter 18. Just like Ken Oyanagi before them, they never reappeared after Giorno's backstory, once again leaving them open to this trope.
    • The end of chapter 39 has Lisa Lisa reveal in her call with Jotaro that in the late 70's, Santana's remains were destroyed by another surviving Pillar Man. This essentially makes Santana Deader than Dead.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation:
    • In a way, the tree that ends up leading to Black Sabbath's defeat. In canon, Giorno accelerated its lifespan. Here, Olivia destroys it.
    • A very slight example, but Ghiaccio's body doesn't fall off from the post his neck was impaled on. Olivia gets his body off when she goes to go hide it.
    • Squalo has a slightly different death here. First he's seemingly killed by Mista shooting him, but then it turns out he survived the attack and goes after the heroes on more time on a boat. While the location is different, Narancia does get to finish him off the same way he did originally.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: In chapter 12, Mista's plan to sabotage Narancia's radio is interrupted when Olivia uses a beach towel to sunbathe face down while topless, distracting both after she asks to have sun lotion applied. This simply ends up being a quick ploy for Olivia to get to the radio and nab a soda can and the magazine Mista was reading for herself while the other two squabble over the bottle.
Narancia: Mista… I think we've been duped by her tricky feminine wiles.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • In chapter 8, Fubuki recounts that his grandma doubts there's any Zeppelis left in Italy when Josuke asks him about being in his grandma's birth country. Of course, they don't know that there is in fact another Zeppeli with Olivia's existence, and they never get her last name when the two actually meet her in the following chapter. Not to mention her father is also another living Zeppeli, albeit in secret. Conversely, Olivia has no idea she's talking to members of her family when she meets Fubuki and then Hitomi, and Giorno has no idea he has distant relatives in the form of the Joestars (which Josuke and Fubuki know, but they weren't allowed to tell Giorno that on Jotaro's request).
      • Additionally, Hitomi has no idea Olivia is the same girl she saved during the wedding massacre. She doesn't realize it until later, which is after the two groups parted ways.
    • By chapter 25, Mr. Dieci is almost completely unaware of two possible dangers: Vino, who wants revenge on him for killing his father, and Hol Horse, who doesn't know that Dieci is Olivia's father and thinks he wants her dead, and only alerted him because Hol Horse tried to shoot his hallucination of Dio. It's not helped that neither him or his subordinate Donato are Stand users, meaning they'd be near defenseless if the worst happens.
    • In chapter 31, after learning about Pomodora Natale from interrogating Chorogi, Bruno recalls the Zeppeli's history with the Natale Gang, and mentions that it's sort of comforting Olivia doesn't know the full history of it aside from how her father once worked for them. What they all don't know is that Olivia did hear some of it two arcs prior by overhearing Prosciutto. This is addressed in chapter 37.
    • Bucellati's stance of having withheld info about what he knows about Olivia's father's whereabouts and why he hasn't searched for her ends up stinging when chapter 25's ending shows that he's actually looking for her as well ever since he found the other half of Olivia's photo.
    • Chapter 38 has multiple harsh ones. First, Olivia only detaching one of her eyes with her Stand to spy on Bruno and Trish causes her to miss something important in their conversation that might have mitigated part of her anger at Bruno. As a result, she only sees their embrace without the context. Then, Giorno reveals he never actually sold Olivia's wallet. While it was because he was impressed with Olivia's foresight, it doesn't help the emotions going through her head about him and Mista already, which they are unaware about. Then, after her Internal Reveal, she runs off after spotting Fugo, but everyone else thinks she simply ran away, possibly giving the wrong message to the group.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • The Hitman Team make an appearance in chapter 10 before they're properly introduced.
    • Cioccolata and Secco make an appearance in chapter 15, where Cioccolata first learns about Witches after interrogating and killing a member of Missione Boschetto who tried to kidnap Trish when she was still being delivered to Bruno's group.
  • Edible Theme Naming: As with the original Golden Wind, a lot of original character names stay true to this trope, including Olivia.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • Pomodora's reasoning to have her coven team up with The Hitman Team is their shared desire to overthrow The Boss.
    • During the White Album arc, the heroes temporarily truce with Ghiaccio of all people to subdue Blondie's strongest ability. They're naturally enemies again once she's out of the way.
    • In chapter 34, Vino and Risotto's bickering is cut short when Bombalone arrives at the belfry. They end up having to work together to fight him.
  • Friends with Benefits: Mista and Olivia's relationship, as revealed in chapter 4. This seems to come to an end after Mista and Giorno become an Official Couple in chapter 32.
  • Hate Sink: As with his original appearance in Unbreakable Diamond, Protean Rain as the murderer of Hitomi's father, Burro is this. He furthers his status as this when more of what kind of gangster he and his underlings are like is shown, and especially when chapter 11 reveals his Would Hurt a Child status, along with the implications of his "business" that was only mentioned once.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Drawns can turn against their users and kill them, as their relationship with their Witches is said to be more of a "Master and Servant" type that must be respected. As a result, numerous members of Missione Boschetto die this way:
    • After Scorpion's mask is destroyed, with Gamberi frantically ordering it to still fight, he simultaneously has his neck and head crushed by Scorpion, making for a brutal introduction to the concept.
    • Spumoni is absorbed by Lovefool's bubbles after forgetting her Witch token, which she dropped in her haste to escape from Olivia.
    • Limona chokes to death on Blondie's hair abilities after attempting to summon her Drawn with a broken witch token. Unlike the other Witches who died to their own Drawn up to that point, Vino was ordered to Mercy Kill her, which he does.
  • Hotter and Sexier: Another reason this installment in the series has a mature rating is because compared to the previous ones, this one ramps up the raunchy moments here and there. Usually Olivia is present when these come up.
  • Hypocritical Humor: At one point as Narancia spews lies as he tries to stop Giorno from boarding their boat thanks to Talking Head's ability, the first half of them anger Fugo since they're various incorrect facts, including math. He's stopped by Olivia, urging him to calm down, until the next set of lies call Olivia a boy, causing the inverse to happen as Olivia even grabs the fork from Fugo.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Giorno's parents are killed by Thin Lizzy in chapter 18, and Giorno doesn't learn about this until chapter 37.
    • Olivia has no idea why her last name is such a taboo thing among gangsters. She doesn't learn anything about it until The Grateful Dead arc, where Prosciutto explains a decent bit of it to Pesci after his anger in seeing Olivia got away from them despite incapacitating her, not knowing she's still in earshot of them.
    • Chapter 38 has Olivia revealing Giorno killed Luca in her anger towards Buccellati, right in front of the entire team except Fugo and Trish.
  • Ironic Echo:
    • When Gamberi attempts to backstab Formaggio in chapter 17, he brags about how he's glad to be a Witch and not a Stand User with how they share damage with their users. When the following chapter has him die to his own Drawn, Olivia says the inverse after witnessing Gamberi's brutal death.
Gamberi: Man, am I glad that I'm not a stupid Stand user, who wants to share a link that would guarantee you pain if your Stand gets hurt?
    (...)
Olivia: That Drawn… went berserk and killed him. Maybe it sensed Gamberi was severely injured... or it sensed Gamberi isn't powerful anymore to wield its power... Whatever the reason, I'm glad I'm a Stand user and not a Witch.
    • Chapter 35 has Thin Lizzy echoing what Risotto said to him when Pomodora was dropped off in his care when he stops Risotto from killing her.
Thin Lizzy: You told me to protect her… I just never thought the person who would harm her would be you of all people.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty:
    • Shiori Shiobana and Burro finally get comeuppance in some form at Hitomi's hands for the torment the former put her through in Star-Crossed Crusaders and the latter for murdering her father and Vincent. Shiori gets a cappuccino to the face, and Burro is killed after his defeat, with Hitomi letting loose on his body. Shiori's murder by Thin Lizzy may also count as this depending on the reader, as she was beginning to feel guilt over how she treated Giorno before her death. However, she also thought so little of Hitomi that she ended up almost forgetting her entirely despite what happened in Star-Crossed Crusaders.
    • Doubling as a case of Adaptational Karma, a flashback during chapter 36 has Narancia's unnamed "friend" reappear, except he's shown to look worse for wear, having fallen to drugs since Narancia last saw him, on top of still living on the streets. He tries to con Narancia again, and when they're about to pick a fight with him, the result is a well deserved beating from Fugo.
Fugo: So, you're the guy who betrayed Narancia! I'll never forgive you!
  • Like Parent, Like Child:
    • In an indirect way, Mr. Dieci and Olivia were both saved by Giorno from some gangsters pursuing them both. In Olivia's case, Giorno unknowingly did so, as she managed to sneak aboard the cab Giorno was in with her Stand. However, one thing they both have in common is by the story's present time, they now go by different names but for different reasons.
    • Played with, as Josuke, Joseph's illegitimate son, ends up in a brief situation where one unknowingly crushes on a family member, except it's inverted on two fields: Unlike Joseph, Josuke is on the receivng end of it from Giorno, and Josuke knows they're related, while Giorno doesn't. This naturally freaks Josuke out as he tries to speed up the departure of his group.
  • Mile-High Club: Outright mentioned when Pane and Miele are aboard Farfalle's private plane owned by Farfalle's family, with Miele suggesting it only for Pane to dismiss it with the size of airplane restrooms.
  • Missed Him by That Much: The ending of chapter 5 reveals Mr. Dieci is Olivia's father. This ends up making Olivia leaving the morgue as Dieci enters the room she was just in an example of this trope. This also retroactively applies to Buccellati seeing him again during the capo meeting in the previous chapter, as he has no idea Dieci and Olivia's father are the same person.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The poster used for this page's image is a reference to one of the covers for the manga, which now includes Olivia and Trish.
    • In chapter 9, Giorno manages to steal Josuke's wallet, and is disappointed to see there isn't much. This is very similar to Giorno's dialogue if he wins a battle against Josuke in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven.
    • Also in that same chapter, Giorno being reminded of Bruno from how Fubuki speaks doubles as this, Casting Gag, and Actor Allusion, as Fubuki's Japanese Hypothetical Casting Choice is the one who voiced Bruno in the original version of All Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven.
    • The end of chapter 21 has a gag with Olivia trying to run towards Narancia and then Mista with open arms after the events of the two group halves' Simultaneous Arcs. Both of the other two run past Olivia, with Mista running past Olivia causing her to comically fall down to the floor. This echoes a similar gag with Yasuho Hirose in JoJolion.
    • At the start of The Grateful Dead arc when the heroes are in the turtle, Olivia asks Mista for a can of Vudwaicer, which a can of was previously seen in the anime of Diamond is Unbreakable.
    • Narancia's shocked expression at seeing Giorno and Olivia healing Mista is a mix of how he reacted in the manga, anime, and the PS2 game.note
    • In Chapter 35, Olivia eagerly comes up with names for the turtle and its Stand, which happen to be the same as the official names (Coco Jumbo and Mr. President). These were never mentioned by characters in the manga and anime and were only shown through supplemental material.
    • Narancia attempting to write into himself during the Clash and Talking Head arc is implemented, right down to the same "lie" that ended up being written. This was something that only appeared in the manga.
    • Also during that same chapter, when Narancia's desperately trying to stop Giorno from going back to the boat, one of the lies he spews is him incorrectly saying his Stand's name is called "Lil' Bomber", which is Aerosmith's Dub Name Change.
    • Chapter 37 has the euology on the memorial of Caesar referencing "Il Mare Eterno Nella Mia Anima", the song that played during the discovery of his death in the anime.
  • Named by the Adaptation:
    • Giorno's stepfather is named Jacopo Giovanni. Additionally, it's stated that Giorno goes by "Giovanna" as his last name to spite him.
    • Narancia's father is named Bacato. He was unnamed in the source material, even in the anime.
    • Fugo's grandmother is given the name of Caramella. She went unnamed in Purple Haze Feedback.
    • The computer engineer who Risotto tortures to restore the Venice photo in the anime has the name of "R. Calzone" on his name tag.
  • Not His Sled: Chapter 33 has Fugo changing his mind and staying with the group. This was technically double subverted, as he first promised to help Olivia find her father in chapter 20, only to seemingly break the promise before changing his mind.
  • Not What It Looks Like: In chapter 15, after Olivia's Accidental Pervert blunder, she blindly runs out of the bathroom with shampoo on her face, crashes into Mista, and they fall down the stairs. This leads to a Suggestive Collision with Mista landing on top of Olivia, who is only wearing panties and has shampoo on her face. With how they land in front of Narancia, it certainly looks like they couldn't quite help themselves.
  • Off with His Head!: How Thin Lizzy kills Giorno's parents.
  • Out-of-Context Eavesdropping: Chapter 38 has an interesting spin on this, as Olivia secretly detaches one of her eyes to spy on Bruno and Trish's conversation, which she sees them hug. However, since Olivia is only seeing, she misses the conversation itself, which had Bruno saying Olivia can come with Trish to the small house he owns, which makes for a rare visual only version of this trope.
  • Out of the Frying Pan: Basically what describes chapter 38's Internal Reveal, as a suspicious Abbacchio tries to confront Olivia about how Giorno met Bruno. Giorno comes into the scene among the others in the nick of time for Olivia, complete with a cover story by Giorno that he had prepared in case anyone ever asked. However, it all falls apart when Olivia makes an impulsive comment about Luca's death thanks to Bruno showing up too.
  • Patchwork Fic:
    • Fugo has gotten a decent case of this, with several elements from Golden Heart, Golden Ring and Purple Haze Feedback playing a part in his quirks and backstory respectively. Fugo also stays with the group when they become traitors to Passione, which means the main events of Purple Haze Feedback will not occur.
    • Narancia's initial shock upon spotting Giorno and Olivia healing Mista incorporates elements from all versions of said shock.
  • Red Herring:
    • In chapter 5, as soon as Koichi and Hitomi set off to the taxi Hitomi managed to get ahold of following Koichi's encounter with Giorno, two people are revealed to be following them in secret. Considering how gangsters can be hidden in plain sight, and the last time Hitomi was in Italy, it's easy to think that these are members of Passione who remember Hitomi and want to kill her. Instead, the following chapter reveals that they're actually Josuke and Fubuki, who were tasked by Jotaro to keep an eye on Hitomi in secret.
    • When Setteveli and a then-obscured Farfalle appear towards the end of chapter 9, they're referred to as Stand users. This is actually hiding Drawns before they're properly revealed in chapter 17.
    • Chapter 28 has Setteveli and Thin Lizzy getting into a short argument, in which the former boasts that his Drawn is stronger than the latter's. This seems to imply that Thin Lizzy has a Drawn just like everyone else in the coven, but chapter 35 reveals he's a Stand user.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Setteveli is a student at Giorno's boarding school who has feelings for him that Giorno is unable to reciprocate. Chapter 9 reveals he's actually a member of Missione Boschetto, making this a Villainous Crush.
  • Refusal of the Call: Chapter 8 mentions that Okuyasu had the option to accompany Josuke and Fubuki, but he decided against it, not wanting to leave his father alone in Morioh.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge:
    • Hitomi seeing the two endangered children about to be "used" by Burro presses her Berserk Button, sending her into a short one of these. She effortlessly disposes of the underlings in the room before going after Burro.
    • Original to this story, in addition to smashing his car's dashboard, Ghiaccio flies into one after being approached by an officer for holding up traffic after Ghiaccio realizes Melone is dead.
  • Sex for Solace: Two examples in the fic so far:
    • In chapter 4, Mista and Olivia are said to have knocked boots with each other after arriving back at Olivia's apartment following Prudenza's death. This introduces the Friends with Benefits aspect of their relationship, as it's also stated this was not their first time.
    • Chapter 34 has Risotto Nero suddenly doing this with Pomodora following being rescued from the aftermath of his battle with Bombalone and learning The Boss' true intentions for wanting Trish delivered. Unlike the previous example (and Fubuki and Okuyasu's intimate moment in the previous fanfic), it gets described as detailed as a mature rating would allow before it cuts to a flashback and then the aftermath.
  • Ship Tease: Several. Olivia gets some with Giorno, Mista, and Trish at different points. Mista gets some with Giorno, and Bruno also gets some of these with Trish as well.
  • Shout-Out:
Olivia: Look how they massacred this poor bastard. Whoever killed him must have used his own shovel.
    • During the Hitman Team's Early-Bird Cameo in chapter 10, the banter between Ghiaccio and Formaggio is taken straight from GoodFellas.
      • Chapter 12 has another reference to this same film during a flashback of Olivia's youth, in which her father secretly brought her along during some mafia business to keep her company. The part where someone is revealed to have been stuffed into the back of the car's trunk and is promptly killed when they awake is a reference to the movie's opening (Olivia was asleep as this happens).
    • Also in chapter 10, Fugo quipping on the irony of Olivia (whose stand can inflict bad luck) telling Mista not to be superstitious about the number 4 sounds very reminiscent of a line from "Band Geeks".
Fugo: Oh, the girl with the power of bad luck is gonna preach to us.
Guard (Chuckling to himself): Sakura, you dumb bitch.
    • In chapter 14, Olivia says the following after seeing the unseen first name on Sale's ID:
Olivia: Damn… I was hoping his first name would be Luigi.
Narancia: Holy shit! I finally met someone who knows their video games!
    • During the fight with Formaggio in chapter 17, Olivia delivers the following Pre-Mortem One-Liner to the spider she's trapped in the bottle with:
Olivia: Sorry, Peter Parker! But lunch is canceled!
    • Chapter 22 has Olivia mention the Cryptkeeper when she and the others are shocked to see Narancia under the effects of The Grateful Dead.
Olivia: He just became the Cryptkeeper!
    • In chapter 30, Olivia is trying to remember Pericolo's name when the team is ordered to replay Moody Blues inside the turtle. Both of her guesses are Shout Outs, one of which being one of his namesakes.
Olivia: He's the one who handed Trish off to us yesterday! Uh... what's his name again? Perry Como? Piccolo...?
    • Despite being in the middle of a fight, Olivia mutters the following when Giorno briefly loses his arm after narrowly avoiding an attack from Blondie's One-Winged Angel form during the White Album arc:
Olivia: If I had 500 lira for every time you lose a left arm, I'd have 1,500 lira, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened three times already.
    • Olivia makes this remark after Bruno expresses surprise about Trish lending information about Sardinia to aid the group in defeating The Boss:
Olivia: He may be her father, but he wasn't her daddy.
    • Chapter 36 has Fugo saying the following to Narancia during his second thoughts about sticking with Buccellati:
    • Chapter 40 has one to Airplane!, referencing that movie's Running Gag following Narancia's quip about movies teaching Abbacchio how to fly:
Olivia: ...I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you.
Then she turned around and left.
Narancia: Wasn't that line from a movie too?
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: The male members of the Zeppeli family are named after characters from The Godfather, while the female members have theirs based on Shakespeare's female characters.
  • Shown Their Work: Just like the previous entries, many pieces of research about life in Italy get put to use. Such as the table manners regarding bread and pasta, how birthdays are celebrated, and even an Italian holiday, for example.
  • Simultaneous Arcs:
    • The Guns N' Roses fight is an original fight set while the Man in The Mirror fight happens, kicked off by the group in the hideout suddenly being attacked.
    • The Angel Dust fight is also an original fight, set right as The Mystery of King Crimson is happening.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Chapter 4 states that a lot of the other Capos hate Burro because of his drug trade, but they can't openly criticize him due to his close ties to The Boss.
  • The Remnant: Thin Lizzy is revealed to be not only a former servant of Dio, but also a second son of Enya at the start of chapter 18.
  • Translation Convention:
    • As per the norm in canon, given the Italian setting. Here, when Koichi and Hitomi first land in Italy, it's mentioned that their current conversation is in Italian, and they have the idea of switching to Japanese if they don't wanna be overheard. Later, Hitomi's one-liner to Shiori before she throws her cappuccino at Shiori, and also what the children Burro's men kidnapped are saying are mentioned to have been in Japanese, inidicated by italicized text.
    • It's easy to miss, but this entry notably appears to drop the use of "Oi"note . This is likely because of how the previous two stories were set in Japan with this trope in effect. This one being in Italy, instead uses some Gratuitous Italian akin to the English dub at a few points.
  • Two Halves Make a Plot: A variation in chapter 5: Olivia decides to abandon her half of the torn family photo she had been holding onto before she leaves the morgue. Then, when Mr. Dieci spots it to his shock moments later, he reveals he has the other half after Donato mentions how it got there. This simultaneously reveals that Dieci is Olivia's father, and the subplot of the two potentially reuniting is still in motion.
  • Updated Re Release: The ending of chapter 25 was expanded in March 2022, showing more of Hol Horse, Dieci, and Donato, and retroactively including Hol Horse's artwork for the story.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: A minor example, but unbeknownst to them, Josuke mentioning Giorno is Dio's son once his group is away from Giorno and Olivia gets picked up by Setteveli's Drawn, Radiohead. This pretty much confirms their conjecture about Giorno's connection to Dio and puts Missione Boschetto's plans to capture him in motion.
  • Villainous Legacy / Posthumous Character: Of all characters, the Pillar Men. Lisa Lisa reveals at the end of chapter 39 that she and Jotaro know of the existence of Witches in light of finding another lampad. Lisa Lisa adds that a mysterious intruder destroyed Santana's remains before the events of Star-Crossed Crusaders, and left behind a lampad after they turned to dust escaping from the basement in the sunlight. The lampad left behind had similar biological structures to the Pillar Men's bodies minus dissolving in the sun. This leads to her theory, which she shares with Jotaro:
Lisa Lisa: We have a theory that if Kars was the progenitor of Vampires… then there must be a Pillar Man who created Witches.
  • Wham Episode:
    • The Misfits arc kind of counts as this, as it sets up a handful of things with what happens. There's possible conflicts to come later with what's going on with Olivia regarding the things that have come up over the course of the last few chapters, especially with Olivia beginning to have hateful thoughts of Buccellati, and then there's Lisa Lisa learning of Giorno's father and the subsequent reveal that Witches are connected to the Pillar Men, with her theorizing there was another surviving Pillar Man who created them.
    • Chapter 40 is this, with multiple bombshells about Missione Boschetto's motives and how the deaths of their members would have helped their cause regardless, and the original purpose of some of the members' missions. Then the first detailed look at Radiohead's abilities is shown in tandem with a more detailed look at Vino's past, and most of all, the subsequent reveal that Setteveli is scheming against Pomodora.
  • Wham Line:
    • At the start of chapter 18, Thin Lizzy being revealed to be a former servant of Dio is one thing, but then he jogs Shiori's memory one last time before he kills her...
Thin Lizzy began to unwrap the bandages around his left hand... to reveal a deformity. Thin Lizzy held up two right hands.
Thin Lizzy: My mother and older brother were devout servants of Dio, I am the second son of Enya the Hag...
    • The Stinger of Chapter 25 has a man visting Club L'amore before they open. Soon after, a few words describing his appearance reveal that it's none other than Hol Horse.
He is wearing leather clothes, three watches on his left arm, and a cowboy hat. The man has a huge scar on his forehead, as though he had been struck by a bullet in the past.
    • and if that doesn't tip the reader off, the man's last line of dialogue in the club will.
"If she ever comes back... Tell her that Hol Horse is looking for her."
    • It doesn't stop there, as Hol Horse recognizes Giorno's name when Donato namedrops him, suggesting that like Thin Lizzy, he has an unexplained prior knowledge of him, possibly back when he worked for Dio.
    • The ending of chapter 36, which has a now boatless Team Buccellati using Gold Experience's ability to transform debris to head for a nearby island to hide. First Bruno mentions it having a wall of towers, then Mista mentions that monks occupy it, and then:
To people living in Venice, that place is known as Air Supplena Island.
    • In chapter 38, Two happen from Olivia. First she retracts her First-Name Basis for Buccellati, signaling how bad her resentment for him has gotten, and then there's what she says after.
Buccellati: I've been looking all over for you. I need to speak to you... Alone.
Olivia: Whatever it is, Buccellati, you can just tell me right here.
Buccellati: When did you start addressing me by my last name?
Olivia: When are you going to tell the others that Giorno killed Leaky-Eye Luca?
    • Chapter 40 has one that reveals Setteveli plotting against Pomodora, establishing him as The Starscream of the coven.
Setteveli (Internally): Then maybe I could overthrow Pomodora Natale for good.
  • Wham Shot: Chapter 37 has an illustration of Herb, Peaches, and Lisa Lisa shown following the latter ordering the two to cease their fight with Buccellati's team serving as this, making it clear who said the preceding line before they're even namedropped.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: Chapter 26 and 27 are fully about exploring Fredo Zeppeli's Start of Darkness and what happened to the rest of Caesar's siblings after everything established in the previous two fanfics.
  • World of Action Girls: Downplayed/Averted example, while the male characters are slightly more numerous, the female characters are still prominent in some form throughout the story.
  • Would You Like to Hear How They Died?: A rare heroic example, which happens courtesy of Olivia. One against Illuso to interrupt and aggravate him about Formaggio's death, considering Gamberi's attempted backstabbing of him, and again against Spumoni, this time recounting that Gamberi was killed by his own Drawn, which Spumoni does not know.
