    Sadao Kujo

Sadao Kujo

Stand: Gotta Keep It Real

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sadao_27.jpg

The Third JoJo and father of Jotaro Kujo, Sadao Kujo is a jazz musician who didn't have much presence in the canon universe. But in this new world, he has a Stand and a bizarre adventure to call his own.

His Stand, Gotta Keep It Real (named after the GattaKiriBa Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), can slice apart anything Sadao wants to cut, as well as duplicate himself into multiple clones.

  • Adaptation Expansion: He is given much more relevance in the story this time around, even getting to be in the limelight as the main hero of Steel Ball Run.
  • Animal Motifs: His Stand is described as an insect humanoid with stag beetle horns, mantis claws, and grasshopper-like legs. The stag beetle's horns are noted to resemble a samurai's helmet, while the mantis represents death and the grasshopper good luck in Japan. The grasshopper in particular alludes to the grasshopper-themed heroes of Kamen Rider, which the author of JoJo New Universe is fond of. These all allude to his character — he is an honorable man with a strong sense of justice, but he won't hesitate to fight or be merciless if innocent lives are on the line.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: His Stand combines parts of a stag beetle, mantis, and grasshopper.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: His Stand can manifest sharp blades on its forearms. They have the ability to cut anything Sadao wants it to; anything outside his targets will be left intact otherwise.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Let's play that sweet electric jazz!"
  • Disappeared Dad: He tragically lost his father during the bombing of Nagasaki in World War II, a mere three years after Sadao was born.
  • Expy: His Stand, Gotta Keep It Real, is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's GattaKiriBa form from Kamen Rider OOO, and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Happily Married: It's very clear that he and Holly love each other deeply, no matter how far from home he is.
  • Hive Mind: Downplayed. Sadao's clones are able to share thoughts with each other, but otherwise move and act independently instead of acting ilke a group.
  • In a Single Bound: The grasshopper aspect of his Stand gives him an incredible jumping ability.
  • Kiai: His is an onomatopoeia for a trumpet call, fitting for a jazz musician.
Sadao Kujo: PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH PARAH! PAH-PA-RAH!
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: His Stand, Gotta Keep It Real, is an insect humanoid with various insect-like traits like stag beetle horns, mantis claws, and grasshopper-like legs.
  • O.C. Stand-in: Canon Sadao Kujo was a featureless, one-note character whose only defining traits are his musical career and his nonexistent relationship with his son, Jotaro Kujo. Here, he's a more developed character and a heroic Stand user in his own right, and he genuinely loves Jotaro despite his own apparent flaws.
  • Parents as People: He loves his wife and son very much, but his career and general craziness of his own personal life have left him not as much life as he'd like to be a present husband and father. He isn't happy to find out that his constant absence led to his son becoming a delinquent.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Kill as many of Sadao's copies as you like, but unless you get them all he'll always have a physical form to anchor his soul to.
  • Samurai: While not a straight example, he counts as one due to being an honorable man with a strong sense of justice, his Stand giving him blades as sharp as katanas and the ability to phase through anything in order to cut whatever he targeted. His family, the Kujos, is established early on as an old samurai clan that avoided the Crippling Overspecialization that befell many of its peers by pursuing other business ventures in a time where samurai had become useless.
  • Shock and Awe: Gotta Keep It Real can fire electric shocks from its stag beetle horns that can stun enemies.
  • Strong as They Need to Be: His Stand's secondary ability lets its mantis-based Blade Below the Shoulder phase through solid matter to only slice what Sadao wants it to slice.
  • Tattoo as Character Type: The Personal Emblem type. He got a tattoo identical to the Joestar family birthmark, and in the same location, to show that he wanted to be included as a part of the family. It actually endeared him to his father-in-law Joseph.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: Tries very hard to avert this, making time to return home to his wife and son. That said, he's still away enough that his relationship with Jotaro is very strained. He was also upset when Jotaro became a delinquent in response to his constant absences.

    Funny Valentine

Funny Valentine

Stand: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/funny_valentine_7.png

Formally a villain in the original universe, Funny Valentine is now on the side of good due to being an alternate version of himself with the memories of his previous incarnation.

His Stand, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, or D4C for short (named after an AC/DC album), can interact with alternate realities in various ways, including taking anything from them into his own.

  • Adaptational Heroism: The canon version of Funny Valentine is a Well-Intentioned Extremist who wants to use the Saint's Corpse to preserve the glory of America, but due to the Saint Corpse's power, his goal entails transferring America's misfortunes onto the rest of the world. He was also a Bad Boss whose good intentions mask his true self as a self-righteous patriot who thinks of nothing of damning other countries to horrible misfortune and bad luck. The JJNU version of Funny Valentine is one of the setting's Big Goods besides the Speedwagon Foundation, being a benevolent Alternate Self of the canon Funny Valentine. Besides his sponsorship of Team Kujo in this setting's Steel Ball Run, his actions overall helped derail the canon plots of Stone Ocean and Danganronpa even in the smallest ways.
  • Adaptational Wimp: He hasn't shown the ability to use the Love Train form of his Stand. This is because unlike his JJBA self, he doesn't have access to the Saint's Corpse.
  • Alternate Self: He's one to the original Funny Valentine from Steel Ball Run, and did witness most of those events.
  • Benevolent Boss: As the CEO of an automotive firm, he enjoys a good relationship with his Board of Directors and works to make sure his sponsored team is forewarned of any complications in the race.
  • Big Good: He's the sponsor for Team Kujo and constantly supplies them with information on the race and potential threats within it.
  • Crossover Relatives: He's the uncle to Narciso Anasui in this story.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He's blond like his canon counterpart, but unlike canon Valentine who was a Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist (maybe) and a Bad Boss, this version of him is a genuinely heroic Stand user as well as a Benevolent Boss. It helps that he's an alternate version of canon Valentine due to his Stand, D4C, possessing dimensional powers.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: He's aware of the events of canon, but only as an alternate reality.
  • Real Event, Fictional Cause: More like canon event, fanfictional cause. He becomes the reason Canon!Pucci mysteriously disappeared from in front of Canon!Emporio, whisking him into the New Universe only to collide with his version from said reality, destroying them both on contact.

    Sunset Shimmer

Asahi Nichibotsu

Stand: Tighten Up

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sunset_46.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group who befriends Sadao.

Her Stand, Tighten Up (named after the TaToBa Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), grants her reptile-like powers, including the ability to heal from any non-lethal damage, no matter how severe.

  • Action Mom: Implied in Stone Ocean, when she shows herself to still have excellent control over her Stand even after having a few kids with Ryusei.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Her canon counterpart is named Sunset Shimmer, but here, she's named Asahi Nichibotsu. According to her, "Sunset Shimmer" is a nickname she got for having a name that both translates to "sun" in English as well as hair that shimmers under light.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Sunset Shimmer is a Unicorn. Here, she's completely human, though she does have her canon counterpart's hair color.
  • Cold-Blooded Whatever: Her Stand combines attributes of a cobra, turtle, and crocodile.
  • Expy: Her Stand, Tighten Up, is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's BuraKaWani form from Kamen Rider OOO, and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Healing Factor: Her Stand gives her this, allowing her to survive injuries that would kill normal humans.
  • Innate Night Vision: The cobra aspect of her Stand allows her to see in infrared.
  • Kick Chick: Her Stand gives her kicks some literal bite via crocodile-based legs, making her this trope.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: She uses a turtle-based shell for defense, though it can only protect from the front.
  • Official Couple: Her boyfriend on the team is Ryusei, and they plan on attending college together before getting married.
  • Related in the Adaptation: She's cousins with Fluttershy in this story.

    James Brown

James Brown

Stand: Ride On Right Time

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/james_41.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group and the son of Joseph's friend, Smokey.

His Stand, Ride On Right Time (named after the LaToraTah Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), can manipulate wind and heat up air currents.

  • Absurdly Bright Light: The lion head of his Stand can emit a powerful blinding light.
  • Blow You Away: Ride On Right Time can alter wind currents using its tiger-like claws.
  • Expy: His Stand, Ride On Right Time, is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's LaToraTah form from Kamen Rider OOO, and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Fan-Created Offspring: He's the son of Smokey Brown, a character from Battle Tendency. In canon, Smokey didn't have any kids when he became an adult.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Unlike his father Smokey, who was a Non-Action Guy in Battle Tendency due to being a completely normal teenager when it happened, James is a Stand user who plays a far more active role in Steel Ball Run.
  • Musical Theme Naming: He himself is an accidental case. The author didn't realize (until it was pointed out later) that James was given the same name as famous Soul/Funk musician James Brown.
  • Panthera Awesome: His Stand combines attributes from a lion, a tiger, and a cheetah.
  • Super-Speed: Thanks to the cheetah legs of his Stand, James can run fast enough to catch up to any modern vehicle.
  • Wolverine Claws: His Stand comes equipped with powerful claws that can increase temperature with every slash.

    Radames Avdol

Radames Avdol

Stand: Sun Goes Up

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/radames_3.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group and the brother of future Stardust Crusader, Muhammad Avdol.

His Stand, Sun Goes Up (named after the SaGoZo Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), possesses the ability to increase gravity in a localized area.

  • Expy: Sun Goes Up is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's SaGoZou form from Kamen Rider OOO and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Meaningful Name: Radames' name is Egyptian for "hero", and he more than lives up to that expectation.
  • Megaton Punch: His Stand has arms like a gorilla's, allowing for some powerful punches.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Sun Goes Up combines attributes of a rhinoceros, gorilla, and elephant.
  • Required Secondary Powers: He's immune to his own gravity manipulation, and can let others enjoy that same immunity if he so chooses.
  • Shockwave Stomp: One of Sun Goes Up's primary attacks, via its elephant-like feet.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: To his brother Muhammad. Both are powerful Stand users, but with a sense of Force and Finesse. While Magician's Red's fire powers require finesse to master, Sun Goes Up's gravity powers are easy to control allowing for more brute force. The same goes for their trade — while Muhammad chooses the easier job of a fortune teller, Radames chooses the more difficult job of a merchant.
  • Use Your Head: His Stand has one hell of a headbutt, due to having a rhino-like horn.

    Antoinette Dupont

Antoinette Dupont

Stand: Shout Out

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/antoinette_9.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group, Antoinette Dupont is a French girl hoping to use the funding of the Steel Ball Run for something important to her.

Her Stand, Shout Out (named after the ShaUTa Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), allows her to change into water and lash her opponents with electric eel whips.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a sweet girl, especially to her friends. But Polnareff taught her well, and her Stand is arguably one of the strongest in existence, so threaten her at your own peril.
  • Cassandra Truth: Subverted. Her town did believe her when she said her best friend was killed, but no one other than Polnareff, Sherry's older brother, believed her story of how due to Polnareff being a Stand user himself.
  • Elemental Shapeshifter: Her Stand lets her transform into water, allowing her to No-Sell almost any attack.
  • Expy: Shout Out is based on the ShaUTa form from Kamen Rider OOO and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Fish People: Her Stand combines elements of an orca, eel, and octopus.
  • Kiai: Her battle cry translates to both a Rapid-Fire "No!" and "weak form" in French, essentially insulting her opponents for being weak against her.
Antoinette Dupont: NON! NON! NON! NON! FORME FAIBLE!
  • Lightning Lash: Her Stand has powerful electric (eel) whips for weapons.
  • O.C. Stand-in: She's actually the friend Sherry Polnareff was with the day she was raped and murdered by J. Geil in Stardust Crusaders. Here, she's also a Stand user with a more fleshed-out role and character, and is one of the heroes of Steel Ball Run.
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: Thanks to her Stand's orca-like head, Antoinette can stay underwater indefinitely.
  • Wall Crawl: Her Stand's legs can split into octopus tentacles to perform this feat.
  • The Worf Effect: We see in the story that Antoinette is a powerful Stand user. Yet in her backstory when she and Sherry encountered J. Geil, all Antoinette could do was survive.

    Ryusei Ito

Ryusei Ito

Stand: Time Judged All

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryusei_7.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group. A young high school boy who hopes to use the funding of the Steel Ball Run to pay for college.

His Stand, Time Judged All, (named after the TaJaDor Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), grants him various avian-like powers, including the ability to fly.

  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: The condor talons his Stand can sprout are exceptionally sharp.
  • Everyone Went to School Together: Turns out he and Sunset are former classmates of Noriaki Kakyoin.
  • Expy: Time Judged All is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's TaJaDor form from Kamen Rider OOO and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • Flechette Storm: The peacock aspect of his Stand can fire sharp feathers that act as projectiles.
  • Noble Bird of Prey: His Stand has the combined attributes of a hawk, a peacock, and a condor.
  • Official Couple: He's actually Sunset's boyfriend, and the two are planning on using their share of the prize money to go to college and later marry.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Years later he winds up as a prison guard at Green Dolphin, using his authority to keep Jolyne from getting punished way more than necessary for actions taken while there.
  • Super-Senses: One of his Stand powers is incredible sight, fitting since part of its appearance is that of a hawk.

    Rudy

Rudy

Stand: Power To Tearer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rudy_51.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group. A middle-aged homeless man who has no memory of who he once was.

His Stand, Power To Tearer (named after the PuToTyra Combo's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), can produce freezing temperatures.

  • Animal Lover: His closest friend is, of all beings, Iggy the Boston Terrier from Stardust Crusaders.
  • Berserker: His Stand has a primal fury to it, which he can channel and control to devastating effect.
  • Domesticated Dinosaurs: His Stand has attributes of a pteranodon, triceratops, and tyrannosaurus rex.
  • Expy: Power To Tearer is based on Eiji Hino/Kamen Rider OOO's PuToTyra form from Kamen Rider OOO and many of the powers are similar to that form.
  • The Fettered: He still has his pride as a soldier, which keeps his Stand's ferocity in check. Even then, he can put a little more power into his attacks when necessary.
  • Horn Attack: By using the Triceratops horns, his Stand can invoke this trope.
  • Magical Homeless Person: More generally supernatural than truly magical, but considering Rudy is a homeless Stand user he still qualifies for this trope.
  • Not Quite Flight: He can't fly the way Ryusei can, but his Stand's Pteranodon wings do let him glide.
  • Old Soldier: What few memories he has of himself involves him fighting at Normandy during World War II and in Vietnam, and time has done little to dull that instinct.
  • Tail Slap: His Stand has a powerful Tyrannosaurus Rex tail, allowing for this attack.

    Sanji Matsumoto

Sanji Matsumoto

Stand: Reverse Rebirth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sanji_1.jpg

A member of Funny Valentine's sponsored group. A recent employee of the Speedwagon Foundation's Japanese branch.

His Stand, Reverse Rebirth (named after Kamen Rider Birth's theme song from Kamen Rider OOO), comes equipped with several industrial weapons.

  • Arch-Enemy: He has one in the form of a Stand user that caused a massive blizzard in Morioh several years ago, but they never appear on-screen. And by the time Sanji reappears in the story, he's already beaten them.
  • Combo Platter Powers: His Stand has several Boring, but Practical powers that make him a serious opponent in any fight.
    • This Is a Drill: Reverse Rebirth possesses an industrial drill for its right arm.
    • Grappling-Hook Gun: Sanji can use an industrial crane that's equipped to his Stand's right arm as this.
    • Shovel Strike: An industrial shovel is attached to Reverse Rebirth's left arm.
    • Chest Blaster: If needed, Sanji can fire a powerful energy cannon from the chest.
    • Razor Wings: A set of cutter wings are attached to the back.
    • Armed Legs: Reverse Rebirth possesses a pair of caterpillar treads equipped to its legs for increased mobility.
  • Expy: Reverse Rebirth is essentially a Stand version of Akira Date/Kamen Rider Birth from Kamen Rider OOO, and its powers are based on his arsenal.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: Sanji can magnetize the tools his Stand uses.
  • O.C. Stand-in: In canon, he's the guy who helped a young Josuke Higashikata and his mother get to the hospital in the midst of a blizzard, inspiring Josuke to model his own look after him, but little is known about him beyond that. Here, his appearance, personality, and powers are fleshed out, being a heroic Stand user just like Josuke. Josuke's lack of recognition of him beyond his pompadour is justified here as Josuke being a child at the time and his surroundings being too dark to make out his rescuer's face or what he was wearing, causing him to project a little.

Villains

    Mario DeBorne

Mario DeBorne

Stand: Dark Schneider

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/schneider_48.jpg

A young mob boss who seeks to use the Steel Ball Run for his own agenda.

His Stand, Dark Schneider (named after Deathborn's Dark Schneider), has the power to compress every event that has happened or will happen within a year into the current present, resulting in complete chaos for everyone involved.

  • Big Bad: He's this for the Steel Ball Run, as well as the Final Boss Team Kujo has to deal with before reaching the finish line.
  • Connected All Along: It's eventually revealed that his family has made a deal with DIO and his network, and the prize money is meant to be a sort of tribute to show the DeBorne family can pull its own weight.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Defied. He only deals with Team Kujo a few times when they happen to be in the same location, and even then he focuses more on keeping ahead while letting his Stand's powers slow everyone else down.
  • Foreshadowing: He shows up in the very first chapter when Sadao is rescuing a random civilian from some of his thugs, and he hints that he can tell Sadao's nature as a Stand user.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Dark Schneider becomes capable of firing energy spheres while its main ability is active.
  • Near-Villain Victory: He was inches away from the finish line, but even if he hadn't been intercepted by Sadao, he still wouldn't have won since he had none of the steel balls needed to claim any prize money.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Subverted. Yes, for the most part he only sends his subordinates to try and deal with Team Kujo. But that's only because they're in the middle of a race and he can't afford to slow down just to deal with them.
  • Theme Naming: In the case of Part Three, every racer not on Team Kujo has a name that is a combination of a popular pro driver (typically NASCAR champions) and F-Zero pilots. In his case, his name is a combination of Mario Andretti and Deathborne.
  • Time Crash: His Stand can create a limited and temporary version of this, compressing together all the events that occurred in a single city-sized area within a year of its activation (six months into the past and six months into the future from Mario's current position in the timeline). The effect only lasts five minutes.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: He's unceremoniously killed off by Enya following his defeat in the Steel Ball Run.

    Alan Genie

Alan Genie

Stand: Fat Shark

A mafioso affiliated with DeBorne, Alan Genie was tasked with stopping Team Kujo from completing the Steel Ball Run. He waits to intercept them as they approach the blue steel ball.

His Stand, Fat Shark (named after Don Genie's Fat Shark), takes the form of a threatening, amphibious shark.

  • Cerebus Syndrome: Up until his introduction, all the racers were mostly just spirited competitors, only hoping to keep ahead of the pack. Alan is the first true villain in the story, actively trying to kill Team Kujo.
  • Didn't See That Coming: He's completely caught off-guard by the fact that his targets are all Stand users. This leaves him wide open to Antoinette's luquid shapeshifting.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Well his Stand is based on a great white shark, so if the shoe fits...
  • Threatening Shark: Basically how his Stand operates, and it's fully amphibious to boot.

    Matt Spade

Matt Spade

Stand: Magic Seagull

A Stand user associated with DeBorne, using his Stand to keep the mob's actions during the Steel Ball Run from being televised.

His Stand, Magic Seagull (named after Spade's Magic Seagull), can generate illusions that alter one's perceptions.

  • Keystone Army: Without Matt's Stand to keep DeBorne's mob from being exposed on live television, he's forced to rely on the rest of his Stand user allies to win.
  • Stage Magician: His profession outside the mob. Even his Stand gets in on it, being able to conjure items using sleight of hand.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Magic Seagull has very few combat options, but it's great for keeping mob activities hidden.

    Dai Busch

Dai Busch

Stand: Silver Rat

A young mobster tasked with taking out Team Kujo before they can complete the Steel Ball Run. He waits to ambush them at the site of the violet steel ball.

His Stand, Silver Rat (named after Dai Goroh's Silver Rat), can create energy bombs that have the same yield as dynamite.

  • Expy: Between the rat motif, the wheels to increase mobility, and the energy bombs from its tail, Silver Rat comes across as a Stand version of Rattrap.
  • Older Hero vs. Younger Villain: He's a younger member of the mob, going up against the Old Soldier Rudy. Too bad his experience in the harsh mafia world can't compare to the horrors of World War II.
  • Underestimating Badassery: He thinks Rudy won't be much trouble just because he's an old man. He soon learns the hard way that, homeless or not, Rudy's aged like a fine wine.

    Princia Keselowski

Princia Keselowski

Stand: Spark Moon

A young Stand user recruited by DeBorne to deal with Team Kujo under the pretense of it being necessary for the future of the world.

Her Stand, Spark Moon (named after Princia Ramode's Spark Moon), can fire electrical shots.

  • Bedlah Babe: Her Stand's physical form.
  • Magical Girl: Her Stand is styled as such. She also idolizes them, believing that they'll hit a renaissance after a string of Cutie Honey failures (coincidentally, the story takes place in 1987, just four years before Sailor Moon would revitalize the Magical Girl genre).
  • Obliviously Evil: She seems to have no idea that DeBorne is a mafioso, or that he's working for the very evil DIO.

    Lily Harvick

Lily Harvick

Stand: Bunny Flash

Princia's partner, though she doesn't seem to be any more informed of how evil her bosses are than Princia.

Her Stand, Bunny Flash (named after Lily Flyer's Bunny Flash), can fire shots made of light energy, as well as razor-sharp cards.

  • Death Dealer: Bunny Flash can fire razor cards in addition to light blasts, giving it slightly more options for combat.
  • Magical Girl: Idolizes them just as much as Princia, believing herself to be fighting for the world's future.
  • Obliviously Evil: Just like her parnter, Lily has no idea she's really working for the bad guys.
  • Playboy Bunny: The physical form of her Stand.

    PJ Busch

PJ Busch

Stand: Groovy Taxi

The older brother of Dai Busch and a member of DeBorne's crew, he waits to ambush Team Kujo once they reach the silver steel ball.

His Stand, Groovy Taxi (named after PJ's Groovy Taxi), can make anything he imagines real via the various doors on its body.

  • Foil: To Sanji. While Sanji's makes use of construction equipment for combat, PJ uses destructive sci-fi weapons.
  • Glass Cannon: Groovy Taxi is described as such, and even has a durability rating of D. Sure enough, once Sanji powers through its attacks it proves easy to take down.
  • Shout-Out: Many of the weapons Groovy Taxi uses come from Doom.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When Sanji jokes that his Stand might inspire a new Kamen Rider, PJ assumes the Rider's name would be Kamen Rider Build.

Other Racers

    Clinton Turner

Clinton Turner

Stand: Red Gazelle

The first Stand user Team Kujo meets along the Speed Ball Run.

His Stand, Red Gazelle (named after Mighty Gazelle's Red Gazelle), can grant speed boosts to any object.

  • Establishing Character Moment: The fact that he and his partner Lee Summer are beaten so easily establishes that very few of the Stand users Team Kujo will be encountering are going to be serious fights.
  • Friendly Fire: He winds up getting caught in the crossfire when his partner Lee tries to attack James.
  • Gatling Good: Red Gazelle is capable of changing into a mini turret if combat becomes necessary.

    Lee Summer

Lee Summer

Stand: White Cat

Clinton's partner, Lee Summer shows up just as the team starts catching up to him.

Her Stand, White Cat (named after Jody Summer's White Cat), can fire gold doubloons.

  • Fatal Flaw: While her Stand does have a good deal of strength, the attack radius isn't something she can control, meaning it's possible to hit something she doesn't want to.
  • Shout-Out: Her Stand's attack is similar to Meowth's Pay Day attack. The fact that the gold quickly disappears shortly after being manifested brings to mind the leprechauns of Harry Potter.

    Dr. Robert Flock

Dr. Robert Flock

Stand: Golden Fox

A medical doctor hoping to earn money from the race to open his own clinic.

His Stand, Golden Fox (named after Dr. Stewart's Golden Fox), increases the natural intelligence of its user, thus allowing Robert to think more logically.

  • Logical Weakness: His Stand runs on pure logic, which can be overridden by chaotic human emotions.
  • Non-Action Guy: Golden Fox is utterly useless for combat. In fact, its power is designed to help Dr. Flock avoid combat situations.
  • We Can Rule Together: He offers Team Kujo a chance to join forces to collect the steel balls needed to win the race together, but Sadao points out that would mean he'd have to cut one of his team out of the profits.

    Baba Roberts

Baba Roberts

Stands: Iron Tiger

An arrogant racer who thinks himself invincible due to his Stand's ability.

His Stand, Iron Tiger (named after Baba's Iron Tiger), increases his durability by covering him with an iron skin.

  • Agony of the Feet: Sadao slices his heel while also taking out his bike.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: His Stand coats him in an iron-like substance that allows full range of movement and is genuinely indestructible, so one can understand why he might be a little arrogant. Unfortunately, he didn't expect a power like Sadao's.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Sadao's ability to phase his Stand's blades through anything completely catches him off-guard.

    Glen Goroh

Glen Goroh

Stand: Fire Stingray

Baba's partner, who's more grounded in reality.

His Stand, Fire Stingray (named after Samurai Goroh's Fire Stingray), generates a protective fire barrier around him that makes him resistant to friction, allowing him (as well as whatever vehicle he's riding) to move faster.

  • Alliterative Name: Glen Goroh.
  • Barrier Warrior: Fire Stingray creates a barrier of fire designed to reduce friction and let Glen move faster than normal.
  • Logical Weakness: Since the barrier is made of actual flames, any type of dousing technique can bypass the barrier or shut it down altogether, such as when Antoinette uses her liquid body to slug Glen in the face through his barrier.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Glen is protected from the heat of his own barrier thanks to a pocket of cool air between his body and the barrier itself.

    Jack Pico

Jack Pico

Stand: Wild Goose

A professional bounty hunter, Jack Pico hoped to use the Steel Ball Run to supplement his income during a dry spell in criminal bounties. Team Kujo finds him guarding the orange steel ball needed to collect any winnings from the race.

His Stand, Wild Goose (named after Pico's Wild Goose), emits a thick smokescreen for cover and surprise ambushes.

  • Bounty Hunter: His profession, though more grounded in how legal bounty hunting works in modern-day America.
  • Didn't See That Coming: He expected a quick victory over Sunset since he knew her indestructible shield only protected from the front. Unfortunately for him, he didn't count on her having an additional Healing Factor to make up for her weakness.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: He nearly cripples Sunset during their fight, showing that there are dangerous Stand users participating in the race.

    Rex Falcon

Rex Falcon

Stand: Blue Falcon

A racer in the Steel Ball Run that Team Kujo runs into while racing through Death Valley.

His Stand, Blue Falcon (named after Captain Falcon's Blue Falcon), kicks up high winds that turn into nigh-impenetrable sandstorms.

  • Always Someone Better: He winds up falling when James' winds prove to be more powerful.
  • Swirling Dust: The winds created by his Stand kicks up powerful dust storms that are nearly impossible to break through.

    Joe Octoman

Joe Octoman

Stand: Deep Claw

A Stand user and racer in the Steel Ball Run who shows up just as Rex Falcon is defeated.

His Stand, Deep Claw (named after Octoman's Deep Claw), produces razor-sharp claws that can cut through any material.

  • Blade Lock: Joe winds up in this with James and Ride On Right Time, both Stands having their claws locked together.
  • Boring, but Practical: Deep Claw only has powerful claws and a strong body, yet it can easily match strength with one of the heroes.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Joe was so focused on James that he gets blindsided by Rudy, who simply takes out his bike to remove him from the competition.

    EAD Petty

EAD Petty

Stand: Great Star

The final racer Team Kujo encounters heading into Nevada.

His Stand, Great Star (named after Mr. EAD's Great Star), grants complete invincibility using compressed energy.

    Fred McCloud

Fred McCloud

Stand: Little Wyvern

One of the racers of the Steel Ball Run, encountered just as the team reaches Nevada.

His Stand, Little Wyvern (named after James McCloud's Little Wyvern), can repel a certain amount of gravity within his vicinity.

  • Always Someone Better: His Stand's ability to repel a certain amount of gravity means nothing to a true Gravity Master like Radames.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He was certain his ability to ignore friction via gravity manipulation would be enough to carry him through the race. He was wrong.

    Billy Dieringer

Billy Dieringer

Stand: Mad Wolf

A racer in the Steel Ball Run who tries to attack Radames just as he's dealing with McCloud.

His Stand, Mad Wolf (named after Billy's Mad Wolf), possesses fighting power that fluctuates according to the phases of the moon.

  • Brought Down to Badass: His Stand is powerful even on a bad day, but it's at its strongest during a Full Moon. Unfortunately, he's fighting Team Kujo during a New Moon.
  • Synchronization: As is typically the case with Stands, when Reverse Rebirth hits Mad Wolf with its caterpillar treads, the imprint appears on Billy's face as well.

    Kate Yarborough

Kate Yarborough

Stand: Super Piranha

A Stand user Team Kujo encounters as they hit Las Vegas.

Her Stand, Super Piranha, (named after Kate Alen's Super Piranha), can switch between a nereid and a piranha swarm.

  • Let No Crisis Go to Waste: She takes advantage of DeBorne causing chaos in Las Vegas with his Stand to try and move up in the race by taking out a few of the confused racers.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Super Piranha's physical form is depicted as a nereid.
  • Synchronization: Despite having elements of a swarm-type Stand, Kate can still fall victim to this due to Super Piranha having a more singular physical form. This bites her when James uses his Stand to heat up the air around the piranha school, causing Kate to pass out despite not being near the source of heat.

    Bobby Zoda

Bobby Zoda

Stand: Death Anchor

A racer planning to get rich off the Steel Ball Run. He challenges Team Kujo just as they reach the green steel ball.

His Stand, Death Anchor (named after Zoda's Death Anchor), possesses a large anchor that, among other things, is capable of summoning water when land-locked.

  • Made of Iron: Because his Stand lets him fight through pain, Bobby is able to withstand almost anything. It takes Sadao temporarily paralyzing him by damaging his spinal cord to keep him down for the count.
  • Making a Splash: Death Anchor can conjure water at any time just in case Bobby is caught land-locked.
  • Mythology Gag: Death Anchor can increase the production of adrenaline and dopamine in Bobby. Zoda's F-Zero bio shows his cybernetics do the exact same thing.

    Jack Allison

Jack Allison

Stand: Astro Robin

A cocky young racer Team Kujo encounters while racing through the Valley of Fire.

His Stand, Astro Robin (named after Jack Levin's Astro Robin), grants him the power to glide infinitely.

  • Fragile Speedster: Much like his Stand's namesake, Jack isn't much in a fight. Ryusei is able to handle him easily.
  • Kidnapping Bird of Prey: Falls victim to this via Ryusei's Time Judged All.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Astro Robin can't actually fly, merely glide. But it can create an endless updraft to maintain the glide.

    Rex Pearson

Rex Pearson

Stand: Big Fang

A Stand-using racer that shows up just as Ryusei is dealing with Jack.

His Stand, Big Fang (named after Bio Rex's Big Fang), manifests as a phantom dino head that possesses incredibly strong jaws.

  • Logical Weakness: The phantom dino head his Stand creates is rhythmic in its biting and not very fast about it. As a result, the more powerful Sun Goes Up and Tighten Up are able to hold it back.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Rex's Stand creates a phantom dino head that will periodically chomp down as he keeps walking. Or riding.
  • Palate Propping: Rex finds his Stand stopped this way by two other, stronger Stands, just long enough for Rudy to freeze his bike's engine.

    Sterling Elliot

Sterling Elliot

Stand: Sonic Phantom

A racer in the Steel Ball Run encountered by Team Kujo as they start to pass through Utah.

His Stand, Sonic Phantom (named after The Skull's Sonic Phantom), enhances his hearing and gives him the ability to manipulate sound.

  • Dem Bones: Not only is his Stand's physical form a skeleton, but it can turn into a giant skull.
  • Glass Cannon: Sonic Phantom is strictly a long-range Stand. Sadao is able to take him out by closing the distance using his numerous clones.
  • Super-Scream: Sonic Phantom attacks by screaming at a high frequency.
  • Super-Senses: Sterling's Stand gives him a strong sense of hearing. Though apparently he can't be deafened by his own sonic noise.

    Darrel Guster

Darrel Guster

Stand: Green Panther

A racer Sunset spots not long after dealing with Sterling.

His Stand, Green Panther (named after Antonio Guster's Green Panther), can camouflage both itself and its user.

    Dale Beastman

Dale Beastman

Stand: Hyper Speeder

The first of several racers encountered by Team Kujo as they head through Colorado.

His Stand, Hyper Speeder (named after Beastman's Hyper Speeder), lets him run at Mach speeds for only a minute.

  • Cooldown: He states that his Stand can only work for a minute before needing a four-minute cooldown.
  • Logical Weakness: Having unmatched speed suddenly becomes a bad thing when you can't stop, such as when you're speeding over ice.
  • Meaningful Name: Hyper Speeder's name pretty much says all you need to know about its ability.
  • Required Secondary Powers: While his Stand is active, his body becomes capable of handling the extreme speeds he's moving at.

    Leon Junior

Leon Junior

Stand: Space Angler

A racer in the Steel Ball Run who was guarding the yellow steel ball to take out competition.

His Stand, Space Angler (named after Leon's Space Angler), lures in unwary prey so it can attack with its powerful jaws.

  • Invisibility Cloak: Space Angler is capable of camouflage to hide itself while its lure is active.
  • Man Bites Man: Leon is able to use his Stand to damage James in the shoulder. Unfortunately, it's the only significant injury he delivers before James decides to get serious.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: If for whatever reason Space Angler's main ability proves useless, it can still attack with its powerful jaws.
  • Not Quite Dead: James leaves him in a pool of his own blood, severely injured but alive and in a position to call for an ambulance.

    Jimmie Arrow

Jimmie Arrow

Stand: King Meteor

One of a pair of racers seen using his Stand to take out a few competitors.

His Stand, King Meteor (named after Super Arrow's King Meteor), can call down large meteors.

  • Battle Couple: With his partner Monique. So far they're the only racers on a team (other than Team Kujo) who intend to share the prize money.
  • Competitive Balance: His Stand can only create one meteor at a time, but it's a big one.
  • Superhero: His Stand is modeled after one.

    Monique Gordon

Monique Gordon

Stand: Queen Meteor

Jimmie's partner and girlfriend, helping him thin the competition during the Steel Ball Run.

Her Stand, Queen Meteor (named after Mrs. Arrow's Queen Meteor), can call down a bombardment of smaller meteors.

  • Battle Couple: She and Jimmie are a couple hoping to use the prize money to fund their wedding. They even got conked out in each other's arms after Radames uses his Stand to smash through their meteors.
  • Competitive Balance: She's able to summon more meteors at once than Jimmie, but each meteor is significantly weaker.

    Tony Shioh

Tony Shioh

Stand: Twin Noritta

A racer in the Steel Ball Run encountered by Team Kujo as they head through the Rocky Mountains.

His Stand, Twin Noritta (named after Gomar and Shioh's Twin Noritta), deploys a small puppet that forces the people it attaches itself to to mimic Tony's actions.

  • Lampshade Hanging: Noritta seems to the be the only word in the F-Zero series that is purely alien, so when James hears what Tony calls his Stand, he asks what the heck a Noritta is supposed to be.
  • Synchronization: Interestingly, damaging the doll controlling Tony's target only damages him, not the victim. Radames even lampshades what a stupid weakness that is.

    Herb Neelsen

Herb Neelsen

Stand: Night Thunder

One of the Stand using racers Team Kujo encounters while heading through the Rockies.

His Stand, Night Thunder (named after Silver Neelsen's Night Thunder), can create electrical storms spanning several meters.

  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Not only does Sadao use his Stand to divert some of the lightning, Antoinette is able to shock Herb with his own electricity using her liquid body as the current.
  • Weather Manipulation: He has a minor form of this in that his Stand can create lightning storms anywhere, no matter what other weather phenomenon is present.

    Buck Chain

Buck Chain

Stand: Wild Boar

A Stand user who entered in the Steel Ball Run with his gang. After an initial defeat, he tries to stop Team Kujo as they reach the gray steel ball.

His Stand, Wild Boar (named after Michael Chain's Wild Boar), makes him charge forward in a destructive, boar-like rampage when active.

  • Breaking Old Trends: Other than DeBorne, he's the only Stand user the team encounters more than once. After they take out his gang, he encounters them again hoping to stop them from gaining one of the steel balls.
  • Horn Attack: His Stand's natural tusks (due to looking like a humanoid boar) make approaching him tricky as they are quite effective during combat.
  • Required Secondary Powers: He can turn his power on and off mid-charge in order to properly corner, essentially using his Stand to drift.

    Ned Falcon

Ned Falcon

Stand: Blood Hawk

The brother of Rex Falcon, who encounters Team Kujo just as they start to leave Colorado.

His Stand, Blood Hawk (named after Blood Falcon's Blood Hawk), lets him turn his own blood into a weapon.

  • Badass Boast: He claims that his Stand is stronger than his brother Rex's.
  • Logical Weakness: Since he can easily replenish his blood supply, he can't die from blood loss. But this means that attacks that don't rely on blood loss, such as bludgeoning, are fair game.
  • Required Secondary Powers: He can replenish the blood used to create his weapon constructs instantly.

    Terry Tanaka

Terry Tanaka

Stand: Wonder Wasp

A Stand using racer encountered as Team Kujo starts to head into South Dakota.

His Stand, Wonder Wasp (named after John Tanaka's Wonder Wasp), can generate swarms of living wasps.

  • Animal Eye Spies: In lieu of being able to attack the other racers, Terry simply uses the swarm to scout the racecourse and learn where his competition is.
  • Logical Weakness: Like a normal wasp swarm, the one created by Terry is vulnerable to being drowned, though dead wasps can quickly be replaced.
  • Scary Stinging Swarm: Subverted. Wonder Wasp normally would be this, except the wasps created by it aren't any stronger than normal wasps and thus their stingers can't penetrate the specialized racing suits used by the other contestants.

    Draq Byron

Draq Byron

Stand: Mighty Typhoon

A Stand user normally paired with his buddy Roger Rexford, Draq Byron got stuck with Terry due to being placed on different teams. He tries to stop Team Kujo from getting the red steel ball.

His Stand, Mighty Typhoon (named after Draq's Mighty Typhoon), grants him the power to create storms.

  • Always Someone Better: After Ryusei defeats him, he warns Team Kujo that his buddy Roger has an even stronger Stand.
  • Competitive Balance: When teamed with Roger, the duo is said to be unstoppable, so Valentine considers it a blessing that they wound up on different teams.
  • Strong as They Need to Be: While his Stand is strongest in open air, Draq can dial back his power in order to manifest a storm inside a building.

    Roger Rexford

Roger Rexford

Stand: Mighty Hurricane

Draq's partner, who unfortunately got placed on a different team and partnered with Dr. Benny Clash instead.

His Stand, Mighty Hurricane (named after Roger Buster's Mighty Hurricane), creates a small hurricane around himself.

  • Irony: Roger may have a stronger Stand than his partner Draq, but ultimately Team Kujo had an easier time taking him out.
  • Logical Weakness: Just like any normal hurricane, Roger is vulnerable in the eye of the storm.

    Dr. Benny Clash

Dr. Benny Clash

Stand: Crazy Bear

Roger's partner in lieu of his buddy Draq, though Benny is a little reluctant in that regard.

His Stand, Crazy Bear (named after Dr. Clash's Crazy Bear), lets him enter a state of berserker rage.

  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Justified; Roger is aware that the eye of his hurricane is a vulnerable point, and he needs someone to keep him safe while his Stand is active in case someone can get through the fierce winds.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: His Stand sends him into a berserker rage perfect for fighting, but it's not very effective against Stand users with more skill in their abilities.

    Black Wallace

Black Wallace

Stand: Black Bull

The last racer Team Kujo encounters before reaching Chicago.

His Stand, Black Bull (named after Black Shadow's Black Bull), drastically increases his skills and precision as a driver.

  • Logical Weakness: His Stand can only work on vehicles, so if he's not riding or driving one, Black Bull is useless.
  • Strong and Skilled: Black Bull doesn't just give a vehicle the strength and speed of a bull, but the ability to turn on a dime while maintaining speed. It's actually a great Stand for racing.
  • Super-Empowering: He can do this with vehicles, giving any of them the speed and precision of a charging bull.

    Dale Getter

Dale Getter

Stand: Cosmic Dolphin

A racer in the Steel Ball Run that Team Kujo runs into as they near the Great Lakes.

His Stand, Cosmic Dolphin (named after Terry "Digi Boy" Getter's Cosmic Dolphin), projects digital readouts that predict and calculate various factors.

  • Heroic Dolphin: More neutral than heroic, but Dale's Stand takes the form of a humanoid dolphin.
  • Starfish Language: The readout of Dale's Stand can only be read by him, since he's the one who created the language in the first place.

    Daisan Lebonte

Daisan Lebonte

Stand: Pink Spider

A partner of Dale Getter's and a Stand using racer in the Steel Ball Run.

His Stand, Pink Spider (named after Dai San Gen's Pink Spider), can generate silk-like threads that are actually stronger than steel.

  • Expy: Other than being dressed in a Chinese robe and having spider features, Pink Spider's powers are similar to Spider-Man.
  • Spider People: His Stand looks like a humanoid variant of this.

    Kewtri Truex

Kewtri Truex

Stand: Rolling Turtle

One of the last racers in the Steel Ball Run that Team Kujo encounters.

His Stand, Rolling Turtle (named after QQQ's Rolling Turtle), creates an impenetrable shell around him.

  • Irony: Despite his Stand's turtle theme, Kewtri is able to maintain high speed while it's active.
  • Stone Wall: Kewtri's Stand has high defense and speed, but almost no attack power.
  • Tank Goodness: Rolling Turtle is described as a weaponless tank, with its only vulnerability being directly beneath it.

    Michael Phoenix

Michael Phoenix

Stand: Rainbow Phoenix

The final racer Team Kujo goes up against before heading into New York City.

His Stand, Rainbow Phoenix (named after Phoenix's Rainbow Phoenix), creates a fiery phoenix-like construct that can both defend and attack.

  • Expy: Sadao can't help comparing Rainbow Phoenix's physical form to the Gorengers.
  • Logical Weakness: Naturally it's possible to douse the flames created by his Stand using enough water, of which Antoinette can provide.
  • The Phoenix: His Stand can't perform any resurrection-based abilities, but it does have some limited control over fire.
